16 Standout Spots in Portland’s Eclectic Hollywood District

"The Portland sister to the original restaurant in Salem, Happy Bibimbap brings Korean comfort food and soju to the steps of Hollywood’s busy Max station. Encompassing Korean barbecue, sushi, ramen, hot pot, and much more, the food menu can be overwhelming, making it daunting for solo diners but ideal for larger parties with a diversity of tastes. The spacious dining room features a large sake bar, big-screen TVs playing the latest K-pop hits, and a baby grand piano for the musically inclined." - Nathan Williams

Came with a friend and ordered potato corn dogs (half sausage and half cheese) and a side of lemon honey chicken. It was so darn good. The lemon honey was super flavorful, juicy, a bit stiky to the teeth (like eating taffy) and just delish. The corn dog was as expected, crispy and airy. Everything was freshly fried (hot to eat, so be careful to cool it off a bit when). The service was great too. There is an order kiosk, so I didn't think there was going to be any service (just order and pick up food to eat when ready), but we were wrong. Came at a pretty dead time (just the server and us), and the server (an older woman) was so sweet. We talked a bit about favorite Korean music, and she immediately put it on the restaurant's TV. She made sure we didn't feel awkward in an empty restaurant and was even kind enough to draw a mustard heart when we joked for it. Will definitely come again. Highly recommend visiting.

Delicious! ☺️ Loved the honey spicy chicken - great balance of spices and sweet! They even have air fryer instructions on the box for reheating leftovers... Also tried the potato rice corn dog with cheese filling - very interesting. Flavor-wise it was similar to a churro with cheese... Really enjoyed the tteokbokki and kimchi we ordered off menu. The tteokbokki had a spicy pickle flavor to it ❤️ and the kimchi was a nice crunchy young kimchi ☺️ And then soju - of course

First time here. Food was very fresh and temperature hot. The spicy sauce on the dumplings was a nice spicy hot but not unbearable. Katsu chicken way yummy and breaded just right. Lemon chicken was very tasty as were the sides.

Excellent corn dog! Didn't know what to expect and was blown away. Made with rice flour so very friendly for restrictive diets. The cheese and sausage mix is the way to go! The potatoes on the outside were perfectly fried and crispy and a touch of sugar was a nice contrast, even though I prefer savory over sweet foods. The service was top notch and the dining area and bar are very nice and esthetic. Will definitely have to return to try the other dishes and sake!

The crispy corn dog was delicious, great batter and the dog was flavorful. The lemon chicken was excellent, the chicken had a good flavor, was tender, crispy batter, and the lemon honey sauce was yummy. Lots of vegetarian options available. The place was empty when I picked up my food, but it was really nice inside and they've got the branding down. I would come back for sure.

There are multiple Honey Spicy locations in town, but this one is by far the best! For whatever reason each location can vary a bit in consistency. But whoever is making the food at the Hollywood location is insanely talented and never misses on the quality. The Tofu is always perfectly crispy. Never soggy or mushy like some other places. Can’t say enough good things about this place and its staff. Come here for the best Honey Spicy experience possible. 🔥🔥🔥

It's hard to see if this place is actually open upon arrival. No obvious signs and wasn't until we pulled in the door to know they were open. We ordered the corn dogs. Ordering off the above menu they don't tell you there are additional charges if you want half cheese and half sausage or just cheese. They got one of our corn dogs wrong, when I told her one of them was wrong and I need to order another, there was nothing to fix the issue or an apology. Corn dogs have zero descriptions so you may get a surprise as we did. My spicy bacon corn dog had no bacon. My kid who loved Korean corn dogs said she would never eat a Korean corn dog again. We also got a plate in which the lemon chicken was ok, nothing like the photo on the menu. Sides were extremely bland and just not good; so we overpaid for fried chicken nuggets essentially. Overall very disappointed. it was a waste of $50...

So tasty! Definitely try the potato corn dog, that's a meal to itself - I'd love to see more savory variations on that one. Chicken and sides were delicious and good quality. I like the unique takeaway boxes, keeps the chicken sauces from getting all over everything else. Perfect location for me for pickup next to the transit center on my way by, but I worry they don't have enough visibility especially as the construction starts next door (and the previous place in that location became something of an eye sore so everyone ignored it). I want more fun stuff like this in Hollywood, support the area and give places like this a try!
