Chicago’s Biggest Restaurant and Bar Closings, Winter 2024 - Eater Chicago

"An outpost of breakfast chain restaurant Honey Berry Cafe is permanently closed after just four months at 6606 N. Sheridan Road, according to Block Club Chicago. Both Honey Berry Cafe and its predecessor, Bulldog Ale House, are owned by Midwestern restaurant company WeEat Hospitality Group, which operates more than a dozen locations in Illinois, Wisconsin, and Texas." - Ashok Selvam

Huge place; overwhelming yet empty for breakfast on a Friday makes you wonder. Only 1/2 & 1/2 cups and no sugar shaker or spoon. Everything is flavorful. Too much on one plate. Service was spotty. The manager ran food out but was impersonal. The server didn't return until we were done. But we wanted to order drinks with our meal.

Some friends and I were looking for a midpoint to meet between Lakeview and Round Lake Beach and I found Honeyberry. So glad I did! This restaurant is fantastic! Attentive staff, beautiful, selfie-worthy decor and a wide selection of yummy food. We had a hard time deciding, actually. I chose the Fig and Bacon omelet - perfect balance of savory and a touch of sweet. I would come back to Honeyberry for this! I didn't realize that this location had recently opened and never would have guessed, since the staff made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. We were there on Thurs and didn't feel rushed. Honeyberry folks, if you are listening.... how about picking Lakeview East for your new location?! 🙏

Night and Day (in so many ways) from the Bulldog Ale House that used to occupy this space. Bright fun interior and atmosphere, fast and attentive service, a big menu with a lot of great options, and the food was served in large portions and delicious (pictured is the Chorizo Chilaquiles and chocolate chip pancakes). A little bit on the pricier side but I felt that quality was worth the extra money. Only downside is early hours which makes sense given it's a brunch spot but will keep me from eating there as much as I'd like to. Would very much recommend if you are in the area.

Okay so I’ve been here a few times now and my experiences have varied. The first time I found the food to be good. We got a simple French toast and bottomless belinis and we had a great time. There’s also a girl at the bar who served me and she was wonderful! But every subsequent time I’ve been here the food has been bad, service mid, and my desire to return has diminished. I went by myself once and sat at the bar. I ordered a country fried steak meal. For some reason I was brought a raw fried chicken thigh. I was brought a new dish but was only comped 20% of my meal with no explanation on how I received chicken instead of beef, and why was it raw. Another time I went, my friend ordered the “corn beef hash” and it was just their hash browns with over cooked corn beef sprinkled on top - not cubed potatos, peppers, onions or anything that typically constitutes a hash. The hash brown also tastes like they’ve been sitting in oil - not crispy at all.. We also had ordered belinis and we had to remind our server multiple times that we had not received them. And the drinks were flat. If you want a brunch spot - just go to HoneyBear on Lunt and bring a bottle of Champaign. Honey Berry lacks consistent quality and their liquor license is a waste. Not worth the money in opinion.

☔️ Rainy Sunday Breakfast+ friends Vegan and non vegan options everyone. We tried 5 menu items in total today and a rise and shine cocktail. Unfortunately the food lacked in seasonings in our opinion but the tequila cocktail saved the morning. 🍹 Our server Jayda was super sweet and professional + other staff were super friendly-Thank you again. Lower rating due to sadly having a unwanted visit from a bug friend at our table but did not allow it to ruin our morning. First week open ! Overall 6.5 / 10 experience

Touring from Ohio. Came here for a good breakfast after a late night. Drinks were on point. Pancakes and French toast were awesome. Chilaquiles were solid. Expert waiter, defended us from a bee and got us anything we wanted. If you got Tony you gonna have a good time. Would come back again next time I go to Chicago.

Came today on a Tuesday afternoon. Although the restaurant was empty it made for a great time for our party of 8 for my sisters birthday. Our food was phenomenal & our server (wish I could remember her name ) was fantastic! Super accommodating and so friendly . The gentleman at the door seemed annoyed that we were there and came in around 1:15.Even though we had a little over an hour before close.other than that we had a great brunch .
