Where to Eat Around USC and the LA Coliseum | Eater LA

"Another gem in the USC Village, Honeybird serves Southern comfort food, with golden fried chicken as the star of the show. The chicken is hormone-free and brined for 28 hours in Honeybird’s herb and spice mix. The garlic mashed potatoes, collard greens, and macaroni salad make worthy sides to the mixed chicken meals, while the fried chicken sandwiches come with pimento cheese, slaw, tomato, and pickled chilies. Make sure to grab a slice of homemade pie to finish off the meal." - Cathy Park

The Best Dishes Eater Editors Ate This Week - Eater LA

"After a routine week of distance learning and remote working, Friday night called for a change of scenery. After picking up a whole fried chicken, biscuits, macaroni and cheese, Brussels sprouts, and a slice of salted honey pie from Honeybird, our family of three high-tailed it to nearby Hahamongna park to feast. The wings and thighs were the first to go — nicely seasoned with craggy crusts and juicy dark meat. The biscuits, dotted with cheddar, chives, and bacon, and served with a maple-vanilla butter, paired like a dream. Good fried chicken can truly be found in every corner of this glorious city." - Eater Staff

Google
This isn’t Southern food and whatever it is, is just bad. No idea what’s going on with all the positive reviews. This food is BAD. I got the “country” chicken brunch plate and french toast- both incredibly dry, bland at best, and a total waste of $40. I had to send the first plate of chicken back for not even tasting cooked. There is no way anyone cooking this has ever even had real Southern food. I really do not recommend this place

Google
Most beautiful breakfast sandwich. Be sure to ask for their homemade in-house hot sauce. Eggs were beautifully cooked and the chicken was crispy and juicy on a light and airy potato bun. Happy start to my morning.

Google
The store is newly opened, so it's clean and the staff is friendly. The donuts are not too sweet, trendy, and the dough is moist and delicious. I'm having fun picking out donuts from this shop two or three times a week.

Google
Ordered two plates of chicken and waffles for dine-in... I can't believe how bad the food was 🤢! The waffles were dry as a bone, and the fried chicken looked (and tasted) like it was cooked last week and reheated in an air fryer. I feel like this place used to be good? What the hell happened?

Google
Great, delicious chicken, garlic potatoes, and salads. This place is kept very clean and shiny! Great menu with many choices of sides and drinks. We absolutley loved the sweet cole slaw!!! Mom and I split one dinner with two breasts and two sides, and still had leftovers. Check out their extensive menu. And the pies for dessert are scrumptious!!! We got key lime pie. So good! I give the whole place five stars. Very efficiently run and the young people running it do a great job! The chicken ia perfectly cooked and tender inside. And they have honey you can put on yourself. You order at the counter and then they prepare it and you pick it all up on a tray. We went on a Sunday night and it wasn't crowded so we were quite happy. I have been here a few times when it was full of people and kids and was quite hectic. Best to leave for dinner early if you like it less busy. But it closes a bit early on Sunday and we were delighted to find it quiet and nice.

Google
Love their honey bird sandwich! Good crunch, good flavor! Had so many sides to pair with it. The beans are really good but they’re dinner only so only available after 4pm. Parking was relatively easy on the street but there’s parking in the back as well.

Jaimie Garber

Google
Tasty menu with many options. The fried chicken was juicy and full of flavorful crispy skin. Tried the collard greens, chipotle macaroni salad, and biscuits, all delicious. Can't wait to go back and try more menu items.

Google
I eat a lot of chicken sandwiches... I mean like a lot… Like top 2% of people I know. And this spot is one of the best! Top 2 I think ever. I recommend adding hot sauce and honey to the firebird. I will be back! Also had their pecan pie, it was great!

Yelp
Just tried the new breakfast menu and it's legit. We finally have a good breakfast burrito in La Canada again! (Taco Deli, closed long ago was the last one). Lupe's up the street doesn't come close. I added pastrami and it was high quality meat. Portions are generous and pricing is where it should be. I hope this menu stays around for a long time! My only complaint would be all the takeout plastic. But maybe with customer feedback we can suggest a change.

Yelp
When you're craving fried chicken and mac and cheese, Honeybird will satisfy your cravings. We like ordering their family meals. We recently tried their breakfast menu. Their burritos are gourmet and big enough to share. The sandwiches are fluffy and so satisfying

Yelp
It's been over 2 years since I had fried chicken from Honeybird. The last time I had it, the fried chicken was too salty. It was uneatable I was picking up my wife from work in Sunland today. I decided to give Honeybird a try to see if they took notice to my review and change their recipe. When I walked in around 6:30, I noticed the sign that they were celebrating their 8th anniversary with free ice cream from Moo Moo Mia in Monrovia. I ordered my usual 6 wings, 1 thigh and 1 breast. The big test. Was the chicken salty? No. The chicken tasted good. Not like the original recipe which was crunchier. But still, a big improvement from the last time. I didn't order the sides because they were about to close. My take out order was ready in about 10 minutes. Updated DJ's rating: 4.40/5.00 Would I come back? Yes.

Yelp
I love this place for legit fried chicken sandwich!! My daughter and I both said they have one of the best chicken sandwiches!! Their flavors are always on point delicious!! The chicken is fried perfectly juicy and has a nice crunch exterior and the slaw they add gives a cool crunch and flavor to the chicken. And their honey mustard is yummy as well with their waffle fries and/or in the sandwich. I like to add the hot sauce for a little heat. Although their firebird chicken sandwich is supposed to be a little spicy, it really isn't in my taste. That's a good thing because then you can add your own heat level with their hot sauce. Today, I also got their broccoli salad, too. It's very fresh, nice and crunchy, and has a great flavor. Love the dressing they add to that salad!! It has dried cranberries, corn and sunflower seeds. A healthy side!! They have few other sides and it's always hard to choose which one I want for the day. Everything is delicious!! You won't be disappointed here. The staff is very nice here!! They gave me the extra honey mustard I loved to dip my waffle fries and to the sando!! And he even gave me a free refill for my sweet tea!! Meeting my daughter to give her half my lunch!! Love it!! Thank you Honeybird Team for another excellent memorable lunch!!

Yelp
Good lunch spot if you're looking for what I see as a fusion styled southern place! The food is pretty solid and service is friendly and there's a decent amount of seating! Not a bad place if you're feeling for some fried chicken, but also feels not as greasy! Parking is available Nextdoor.

Yelp
Wow are you so juicy and delicious! First time and it won't be my last! I'll definitely come back to try other goodness! The service here is excellent, the gentle man that was helping us choose which items were popular and was so patient with us when we were trying to figure out what we wanted~ The place is super clean cozy and spacious. If you love good fried chicken sandwiches or delicious juicy chickens don't miss this spot! You'll be sorry
google avatar

Yelp
I really enjoyed this spot! I came with my boyfriend just after they opened on a weekday and we were helped right away. Order at the counter and grab a buzzer type of place. The sandwiches were tasty and the chicken was juicy. It FELT like a healthier/cleaner chicken sandwich. But I'm not sure why maybe fresher ingredients. Everything was flavorful and I had no belly ache after. Win! Will not be my go-to chicken sandwich place but I'll definitely be back.

Natalie R.

Yelp
Very happy that I chose this place! It was recommended to me by a local elementary school teacher, got a couple hours of work done. Not too busy and the food came pretty quick. The prices were very affordable! I ordered the side of mac & cheese $6, and the Matcha latte. The Matcha was perfect, not too sweet just sweet enough.
google avatar

Mary C.

Yelp
First time coming and it is so close to us, I don't know how we missed it. The fried chicken is so great. It is tender and never burned. I love the sandwiches and the dinner plates. We tried the fried chicken with waffles and the fried chicken with mashed potatoes. It was all wonderful. This is a place where you go to a long counter and order your food. It comes out perfect. There is plenty of seating for a smaller place and it is so super clean. The service is nice, fast and friendly. You will love it.

Katie S.

Yelp
Came in for lunch after hearing their sad news of being burglarized. Even though they've been around for a while, it was my first time. My daughter and I both ordered the 2pc meal with sides and biscuits. We both agreed it was a ton of food. Well worth the price! Loved the chicken and biscuits! The special herbs and brine they use for the chicken is unlike any other fried chicken I've had and it didn't have that "fried" taste. Coming back for their pies because we didn't have enough room to order those. ;-)
google avatar

Aaron M.

Yelp
Hands down one of the best chicken sandwiches I've tried. I ordered the honey bird and I was really blown away. If I can eat 10 of these in 1 sitting I would! The staff here was very friendly and the establishment was very clean. Haven't been here for a while but glad I came back
google avatar

Kristen M.

Yelp
This chicken is addictive! I can't quite put my finger on how they make it so crispy without ever seeming greasy. The environment is very cozy with plenty of seating, and all the things you need on a buffet style table: honey, water, extra napkins... This restaurant takes orders at the counter or online or by phone. If you dine in, they bring the food to your table. I love the chicken, the chicken sandwich, the sides are all really yummy (chipotle mac and cheese!!). And I think the biscuits are an absolute must.

Cindy C.

Yelp
Came for Mother's Day brunch and tried one of each of the specials - Churro French Toast, Chilaquiles, steak and eggs and my favorite Shrimp and Grits. Everything was phenomenal! Steak and Eggs was by far our favorite, chilaquiles was the best I've had and I make a point to get it wherever I see it. I hope Chef Phil makes some of these more often as it was a hit with the whole family.

Yelp
Came in for a business meeting and was pleasantly surprised. The chicken could have been more seasoned and cooked a bit longer as it was pink at the bone, but other than that, everything was delicious. Mac n cheese and Brussel sprouts really stole the show for me. The hazelnut bread pudding pie was also yummy and unique, and the iced tea was fresh, brewed, and delicious. Great service , I would definitely come back. The chicken Sammie with slaw was calling my name.
google avatar

James S.

Yelp
One of the best fried chicken spots with great sides, sandwiches and even dessert. Can't miss with Honeybird.
google avatar

Yelp
The best thing at Honeybird is their Banana Cream Pie. It is wonderful. I know it should be the chicken, but for the pieces seem small especially for the cost. Also the bar height tables were sticky and when we asked for them to be cleaned we were told it was something with the finish!
google avatar

Yelp
Food is amazing, fish sandwich is a 10 and of course chicken is fantastic so delicious, very nice and helpful service and great music

Jeff B.

Yelp
Walked in for Mothers Day late lunch, plenty of seating, clean bright interior. Got Chicken and waffles, their signature sandwich, a side of fries, garlic mashed potatoes and their biscuits. Sando was delicious, and I liked the red pepper rings on top of the slaw-which was good but it got messy at the end. Waffle fries to sop it up. The chicken was amazing but the waffles were different than we expected. Biscuits were also unique came with some sweet honey maybe vanilla butter, yum. Roasted garlic mashed potatoes were rich and creamy. Had a quirky mix of plate types and sizes for dine in food. Some plastic plates and bowls some China, lots of disposables for take out. We followed the little signs and bussed our own table and separated dishes and trash. Would go again, banner mentioned now serving breakfast!
google avatar

Jabelle M.

Yelp
Honestly, I just wanted a pecan pie and was happy to know they sold some! Bought a whole pie and they sliced them up in individual containers. Not too sweet with lots of pecan. A little pricey but worth it!! The staff is very friendly too. Gonna go back!
google avatar

Ho J.

Yelp
Chicken is like 10x smaller than it used to be, what a joke lol. This place has gotten so much worse and expensive it's not worth it anymore
google avatar

Athena A.

Yelp
Came here to grab some lunch with my partner. I got the shrimp po boy sandwich with the chipotle macaroni salad and garlic mashed potatoes on the side. The po boy was delicious! The shrimps had to be jumbo sized cause they were big! The batter fried on the shrimp was seasoned well and the shrimp tasted fresh. It was a perfect balance of flavors. The chipotle macaroni salad, TO DIE FOR. I think it was my favorite thing on the table. So addicting, with a beautiful smokey flavor. The garlic mashed potato was a bit too starchy for my liking but my partner enjoyed it! Service was quick and everyone there was friendly. We had a great time with our delicious orders and good ambiance. There's a lot of space inside to sit and enjoy your meal.
google avatar

Chris B.

Yelp
Been driving by this place for over a year wanting to check it out, so I brought the family here. The food is good, not going to deny that. But EVERYTHING is fried. And worst of all it's fried in soy bean oil and not beef tallow which is much healthier. Soy bean oil wrecks the gut biome and causes havoc on the metabolism and immune system. This place would make so much money if they offered chicken that wasn't friend and healthier food options. Even just basic shredded Chicken would be a easy, but it's all fried here
google avatar

jeff p.

Yelp
Amazing chicken, sandwiches & pies! It's probably the best friend chicken I've tasted in LA. Everything on the menu is good and the restaurant is very clean...

Yelp
I've always seen this place and have been wanting to give it a try. My husband LOVES banana cream pie and heard great things about the one from Honeybird. So for his birthday I decided to get one instead of a cake. I went to pick up a whole pie in the morning and they had plenty. I also ordered their biscuits and mac and cheese for lunch. The mac and cheese was DELICIOUS. Definitely something I would get again. The biscuits were good as well but they were a little small for the price. The Banana Cream Pie was 100! We loved it and we couldn't wait to eat it again the next day. Our daughter had a bite and did a little happy dance cause it was so good. Definitely worth a try if you are a banana cream pie lover.
google avatar

Yelp
Pretty good food! Insides are bright and inviting. We came here after a hike nearby around Descanso Gardens so we were craving some fried chicken! The four of us got a the 16-piece family pack with 3 sides. For some reason Google shows this to be $54 but that seems old. It's $65. Food came out pretty fast! The southern fried chicken was crispy and not greasy. The dark meat was flavorful enough but the breast was a bit dry so dipped in hot sauce and butter. Parking is available behind but you have to enter off Hobbs (next to Fresh Brothers).
google avatar

Jane A.

Yelp
Expensive fried chicken in average single serving portion sizes. The specialty sides are also expensive and in average single serving portion sizes. The chicken was a little bit greasy but it tastes good.
google avatar

Jim L.

Yelp
Disclaimer, this review is only for the banana cream pie. The banana cream pie is a dessert worth repeating, if my belly could afford the calories, at least weekly. Haven't had the chicken in a few years, but if it's as good as their pie, I may have to give it a try again some day.

Gilbert G.

Yelp
Great fried chicken made fresh to order. Friendly service and parking in the back or street. Interior is nice as well. Only issue is if you are trying to eat there. Not enough tables and a lot of people waiting for the food. Pick up your food and go to the park to eat.
google avatar

Tom B.

Yelp
They have some delicious fried chicken! The mac and cheese is super fire as well as the broccoli slaw. They also have some nice sweet treats like key lime pie and chocolate bread pudding! Me and my friends order here almost every time I come into town! They haven't failed us yet! Thanks guys!
google avatar

Aprille C.

Yelp
What a fabulous find! We were trying to go to another eatery but found it closed for the holidays. Good luck for us that we found Honeybird! Super friendly helpful staff. Cute inside too. We each ordered 2 piece chicken meals. I had garlic mashed potatoes and Cole slaw. My friend had two other salads and we split the 2 biscuits. OMG, the breast piece was so tender and moist(the leg not as good). I'm a cole slaw snob and this might be my new favorite! The mashed potatoes were yummy. But the biscuits were A M A Z I N G! And we split a piece of pecan pie. All delish! But I wanted all the sides! Next time I'll get the Mac & cheese and Brussels sprouts! And the salads were beautiful. Thanks Honeybird!
google avatar

Martin T.

Yelp
Delicious Mac n cheese, solid crispy chicken sandwich, and great pies that our family picks up often to take to guests houses. There are better hot chicken sandwiches around town (Howlin rays, Dave's hot chicken, and Blazin hot chicken) - but this is a solid sandwich, doesn't rely on its sauce as much as other places, and uses fresh ingredients. The chicken doesn't taste or look like factory chicken, it tastes fresh, and you don't feel as slow or bloated after a sandwich here compared to some other hot / fried chicken spots. All in all, solid food for a fair price. Also I don't think I've had better Mac n cheese in this neighborhood.

Fremont P.

Yelp
I really love their food and stop by when I am in the area. Very good customer service. My only minor quibble is that their garlic mashed potatoes didn't seem to taste as good or authentic as when I have been here in the past. Maybe my tastebuds are off but that was my impression. I usually get the two piece white meat chicken with mashed potatoes, cole slaw and then I order a biscuit on the side. Wish I still lived in the area and I would go more often.

Yelp
I've been wanting to try this place for months now and I'm so glad I finally did. The fried chicken is to die for! The outside is crispy and the inside is juicy. It didn't taste greasy or oily. The seasoning was perfect. To start, I got the fried chicken and waffles since it was only available on the weekend brunch menu. The waffles were just alright. Nothing to rave about. But the fried chicken, was above par. I liked it so much I ordered an 8 piece family meal to bring home for my family members. The 8 piece family meal came with 2 sides and one item from the kitchen. I chose garlic mashed potatoes and upgraded one of the sides for $2 extra to biscuits and my second item from the kitchen was Mac n cheese. The biscuits had bacon bites in them. Yum. They were totally worth the upgrade. My kids loved the Mac-n-cheese too. I also got the pecan pie. It was too sweet for me. I ordered the peach ice tea to go with my meal. It was sweet but refreshing. There are free refills for ice tea! Today just happened to be their 6 year anniversary. So they were giving out free Moo Moo Mia ice cream for all the customers. What a sweet gesture! All in all, the fried chicken and the sides tasted delicious and the service was good. It's a clean and modern place. I just wouldn't recommend the waffles. I would definitely come back to eat their fried chicken again! Like my daughter said, this place makes KFC seem like McDonald's. I guess her friend chicken experience has been elevated !
google avatar

Laura P.

Yelp
it's just fried chicken, right? It's so good you will be wondering when you can get another one of these sandwiches!!! Sides are delicious also. My mouth is watering just looking at this photo. Dying to try Korean night Wednesday in La Canada, will update you when I do!
google avatar

Laura L.

Yelp
Super juicy chicken in our sandwich. Exactly what we wanted. Stopped nearby for gas on our way home from the airport after a trip, husband was craving the crack shack but there wasnt one nearby. I was checking food locations near the gas station and this gem popped up literally in walking distance! My husband was more than pleased. So unfortunate it is out of our way to have it again but happy we got to try it once! We had chipotle mac n cheese I believe it was called, delicious also! The only thing i didnt like and wont deduct stars, was the trash area. One for plates and one for trays; but had to scoop off food remnants and napkins into the trash first. Kinda gross.

Yelp
Came here w my 'wifey' to satiate our chicken sandwich itch a while ago and forgot to post my review! The staff was so sweet and the portion sizes were huge! Neither of us were able to finish our meal. We got the combo which was a good deal and were allotted w a sandwich, a side and a drink. We both got lemonades which were super fresh and tart! And got honey on the side for our sandwiches! The chicken itself was crisp, crunchy and delicious w a spicy sweet taste and had a wonderful Dijon sauce you can add on! I got the garlic potato side which was okay but very dense and we shared a banana cream pie which was very light and frothy not too sweet! TDLR: huge portions, nice staff, yummy chicken sandwich, nomnom banan cream pie, fresh lemonade, cute vibe

Yelp
Items on this try in order of best tasting to me. 1. Collard greens - nice mix between sweet and a lottle kick. Very tender. Cant wait to have again. 2. Brussel sprouts - love the take with the pickled onions and firied pork belly pieces. With the sauce 3. Fried chicken - dark meat - leg and thigh. Tast was mid. But with the honey and louisiana style hot sauce all works 4. Bbq baked beans - may not get rhat agsin. Was not a taste or bean I expected. Will try another side next time. First time here.
google avatar

Cathy K.

Yelp
This is one of the best restaurants in La Canada . Delicious sides to go with your fried chicken. To be eating chicken with a kick of spicy and sweet from the hot sauce and honey!
google avatar

Sahn C.

Yelp
Honestly, this place is just OK. There are great fried chicken places everywhere, and Honeybird just doesn't stand out. The concept has just been done over and over, but other places are better at it. Nothing stood out. The mashed potatoes were rather bland, and the chicken was nothing special. I do have to say that the food seems to be good quality. Something about it tastes healthier and cleaner. Like the mashed potatoes had a lot of garlic but not much salt, and the chicken didn't make me feel like I had to pre-check into an ER. Also the service is like McDonalds - you basically do everything yourself, which is fine, but asking for tips starting at 15% seemed like a lot. I'll know that for if I ever go back. Their desserts sound delicious though - maybe I'll swing by again to try those.

Yelp
(Took Out 04/06/21 TU @ 5:00pm): Honey... you've got some kind of bird! After a day of running errands in the area, I was too lazy to cook anything once I got home and felt it was the perfect time to finally try a business I've had bookmarked since the day they opened several years ago in my hometown 'hood... Honeybird. Although I loved a good crispy crunch spicy fried chicken in any form, I never went bonkers for the craze which still seemed to grow without any end in sight. Plus, I generally loved to support any business in the area I grew up in, so this was a win-win situation. Would I be sweet on the kind of bird and sides they served here!? PURCHASE The Honeybird Chicken Sandwich ($10.00): A thick piece of boneless crispy fried thigh meat, pimento cheese, tomato, slaw, and pickled chilies placed between a fluffy toasted brioche bun, this was a messy two-hander that was finger-lickin' good even the Colonel would've been proud https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=gdkeUV3myhz-jdBv7F9-_A&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw! The Firebird Chicken Sandwich ($10.25): Identical to the Honeybird Chicken Sandwich but with an added spicy kick, sadly I was unable to truly tell the difference. Either way, this was still a lovely sandwich at just a quarter more https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=t0aiV7RrGh4PhNdvYUFinw&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw. A La Carte Leg & Thighs + 2pc Honeybird Biscuits ($2.50ea. + $5.50): These chicken pieces had a lovely crunch but were small and lacked any spiciness. However, the biscuits were dreamy, moist, and plump made with bacon bits, cheddar cheese, chives, maple syrup, and screamed "breakfast" to me - amen https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=FxiszC4PjD5PysTDJZNd5g&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw! Mac 'N Cheese ($5.50): Pasta shells mixed with a 5-cheese blend topped with panko breadcrumbs and chives, I was simply taken to another world by this creation of gooey goodness and plentiful pasta. I felt this was the star of my order https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=3i3rZH4eguyqoQJw56XVfg&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw! A La Carte Garlic Mashed Potatoes ($3.50): Thick and garlicky, this was a hearty dish that reminded me of the paste used in kindergarten but in a good way https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=c6uaeOtTXo3vmAGZDX3Myg&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw! A La Carte BBQ Baked Beans ($3.50): BBQ beans with flecks of pork, this was another hearty dish that stuck to your ribs https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=elO3n05EdXMD0UJEKHpJDQ&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw. Slice Pecan Pie ($6.00): This was a thick cut of Americana goodness with candied whole pecans, brown sugar, and maple syrup. Heated for barely thirty seconds in the microwave served with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream, I was in heaven with this dessert https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=5_kbhG-bVEfmEKHSY2r54w&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw! SERVICE Due to current COVID-19 restrictions at the time, they limited the amount of people inside and had protective plexiglass at the counter. A friendly young lady efficiently took my order. About ten minutes later, my order was packed and ready to go as I headed out the back door - easy-peasy! PARKING (FREE) They shared a tiny back lot with a couple other businesses. Otherwise, there was plenty of spots along the main drag of Foothill Blvd. and all surrounding streets - 'nuff said. ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE A medium storefront with a spacious indoor dining area that was closed to customers at the time, there was a corner counter area to place and pick up your order with an easily readable order menu placed up on the wall behind the counter as well as printed menus. Aside from the protective coverage, it had a country cottage homey feel about it. Plenty of natural lighting came in through all the large front glass windows and doors while numerous electric ceiling lights filled in the rest. I didn't notice any TVs but music played in the background. ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL Honeybird was worth the wait and hoped to return to try other selected items on their minimal menu. I thoroughly enjoyed their food, the prices were very comparable, and the provided service was all I needed. The only recommendation I had was to please try and make the chicken spicier. And, it was always a pleasure to support small local mom & pop businesses like this one (I believed they actually had 3 total locations). I found complete value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $52.00 BEFORE any discounts/tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice... AMEX! 5.0 STARS

Do you like spicy crispy chicken sandwiches? If so, you got to try this place. The restaurant has a casual setting, is clean, and brightly lit. Honeybird has two locations. A great spot to have lunch! ::Food:: People come here for their famous HoneyBird sandwich. It is made with crispy boneless chicken thigh, pickled chilies, tomato, pimento cheese, and toasted Brioche Bun. If you want spicy, ask for The Firebird! You can also get the spicy sauce on the side. I was surprised to also like the Phil Lee O Fish. This sandwich has crispy whitefish, pickles, tomato, shredded cabbage, and lemon dill aioli. I also tried the two-piece chicken meal served with two sides; nothing special though. Their sides are tasty, I recommend the Garlic Mashed Potatoes, Collard Greens, Mac N' Cheese, and the Honeybird House salad. ::Desserts:: I've tried the Banana Cream and Chocolate Hazelnut Bread Pudding Pie. My fav is the Banana Cream Pie! It's light and freshly made. ::Customer Service:: The staff is very friendly and pleasant. ::Covid-19 Protocols:: Staff wears a mask ::Tips:: -Phone and online orders are available ::M's Notes:: -Street and back lot parking -Catering available

Yelp
Stopped by for dinner as tonight was date night. Solid spot. I had the chicken combo with two pieces and two sides. The chicken was so flavorful, perfectly spiced. and not greasy. The mashed potatoes were out of this world! Tasted like thanksgiving. The chipotle macaroni was a no-go. Next time I'll try the legit Mac n cheese. The biscuits had little bits of bacon and cheese and came with a delicious butter. Peach sweet tea was okay, I'm not a fan of sweet tea in the first place. My husband had the chicken sandwich and loved it.

Yelp
Honeybird has been one of my favorite fried chicken joints since they opened. Unfortunately, the quality of the food during one of my visits a little over a year ago was very disappointing. Since I liked their chicken so much before I had to give them another chance and I'm happy to discover that it was just an aberration. The chicken this time was spot on; it was juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside. The sides were perfectly delicious also. Really liked the orange spiced roasted vegetables and the broccoli salad. Moreover, the chocolate chip cookies, which are relatively new, were some of the best I've had in a while; they are chewy and slight crunchy on the outside with just a hint of saltiness. I think those cookies will be a permanent addition to my future orders.

Yelp
We were in the area and fried chicken sounded like a good idea! Thumbs up on parking sitch too. For an early dinner, we ordered the 4 piece meal with 3 sides + an extra side, a banana cream pie and lemonade. Brought it home and I threw my chicken breast piece in the air fryer for a few minutes to just warm it up. Saw that the insides were still pink so I tossed it back in but by the time the chicken was cooked it was very dry. The other pieces seemed cooked so they didn't get the same treatment but we both agreed that Popeye's would have been more satisfying. The mashed potatos were on point. I liked the collard greens but had a weird after taste. Our home made coleslaw is levels better and the broccoli salad was mediocre. Two best parts : Lemonade and banana cream pie. Nothing spectacular so not returning.

Yelp
Honeybird is a great stop for fried chicken sandos. Service is efficient, the place itself is cute, and the food is always on point. The chicken sandwiches are delicious and crispy, and I enjoy the sides as well. The macaroni salad in particular is great. If you're in the area, I definitely recommend checking this place out if you're craving a chicken sandwich! ;)

Yelp
Gosh, that is good fried chicken! Made fresh and hot to order, you can't beat that. The sides are killer, especially the Mac and cheese.

Yelp
What she order? Fish fillet Maybe he didn't mean it in a fried fish sandwich context but Phil Lee O fish sandwich is where it's ate. Light crunchy fish sandwich and no fishy smell or taste. We ordered almost everything off the menu to try. Items I would order again - Phil Lee O fish sandwich - honey bird biscuits - banana cream pie I also liked that the brussel sprouts had pork belly. Garlic mash was standard and good, the Mac and cheese wasn't cheesy enough for me. Baked beans felt a little out of place. I'd skip the chicken sandwich next time as it wasn't juicy enough and just get fried chicken. But the biscuits are worth coming for again. Perfect Arnold Palmer and free refills. No outdoor seating when we went. Since we had the pup with us we bought an entree at Panda Express next door and ate on their patio.

Yelp
I got 16pc meal for a party. My order was ready in about 10 minutes. I chose garlic mashed potatoes, Mac & cheese, coleslaw and biscuits as sides. The chicken was very good, tasty and tender. Sides were just ok. Garlic mashed potatoes was super salty, several of us tried one bite, and decided to just throw it away.

Yelp
5 stars alone for being the only place I've ever seen with boiled peanuts on the menu, but also for huge portions, and high quality food with creative flavors and menu items
