Hip counter-serve eatery Honeygrow serves up inventive stir-fries, vibrant salads, and sweet fruit-honey desserts, all with a local twist.
"Philadelphia-based Honeygrow is making good on promises to plant multiple stir-fry restaurants across the D.C. area into 2019, sending two new locations to Northern Virginia. The fast-casual brand is scheduled to open its latest eatery on Friday, May 11 at 12100 Sunset Hills Road in Reston, Virginia. Eater just learned a Tysons Corner location is now on the horizon; that shop is currently scheduled to arrive in late summer or early fall at 8350 Leesburg Pike. Honeygrow has three existing locations in Chinatown, Pentagon City, and the latest, in Rockville, Maryland. Honeygrow CEO Justin Rosenberg has also been eyeing Navy Yard, downtown, Silver Spring, and Bethesda for potential sites. The surge of new local stores stems from a $20 million round of fundraising closed on in 2016. In Manhattan, pared-down versions of Honeygrow, dubbed Minigrow, have also been popping up. Each 2,500-square-foot, tech-savvy store lets customers personalize salads and stir-fries via touch screen ordering stations. Featured proteins include chicken, beef, shrimp, and roasted tofu. There’s also a 'honeybar' featuring local honey, fruit, and various toppings. Catering will be a first for the Reston location. The restaurant plans to donate $5 of every stir fry or salad sold on Reston’s opening day to nonprofit Back on My Feet." - Tierney Plumb
