Korean Spicy Chicken Chain Hong Chun Cheon Opens First U.S. Location in NYC - Eater NY

"A spicy chicken restaurant with hundreds of locations in South Korea has expanded to the U.S. for the first time. Since Monday in K-Town, Hong Chun Cheon has been serving its specialty: dakgalbi, a Korean-style spicy stir-fried chicken." - Caleb Pershan

Pretty solid food, we went on a night where it was drizzling so the spicy kimchi cheese dakgalbi definitely hit the spot! The service was pretty good too, multiple bottles of water, utensils, and sides hit the table quicker than I could realize. The ambiance is clean and trendy, but the restaurant was a bit hard to find since you have to go into a building, go up a flight of stairs and only discover the restaurant upon reaching the top and going through an unassuming door. The restaurant is very clearly visible from outside though. The dakgalbi was definitely delicious, but the sides were so-so. I’d still come back again for the dakgalbi!

The location is a bit hard to find, as it is located on the second floor of the building. The food is surprisingly good! We two people ordered more than enough! The spicy is real, as I ordered the extra spicy one, and I like it so much! :)

Fun restaurant to go with a group! The restaurant was a little hard to find. You have to find the building and take the stairs to the second floor. The food was good, but it was rather expensive. For the orders they require you to buy at least two servings. I would go once to try it, but I probably wouldn’t come back.

I pass this spot every morning before work and really wanted to come by for food. Iplaced an order in person (two portions of their most popular skillet dish) for take out. Superb fast service. Very friendly host and staff. I loved the vibe and will come back with friends to dine in the future!! The cheese dalgalbi was delicious. I wish it came with rice but I should’ve read the menu properly before placing an order without a side of rice.

Look for a door that leads into a small foyer with a lift. Go past the lift and take the stairs on your left. The restaurant’s on the next floor. Lived in South Korea for 8 months and this is as good as it gets for Dak Galbi! They are generous with their sides and bring water to your table free of charge. Delicious meal. It is hot, so opt for mild if you think that it may be too hot for your palette.

One of my favorite spots in Ktown!! We were a group of 5, and ordered 3 portions of the Cheese Dakgalbi and it was definitely enough food for us. Loved the large sizzling platter presentation and the variety of items (fried sweet potato, noodles, rice cakes, etc!). The $10 soju cocktails were very fun drinks as well, the one with the melona bar was my favorite. Overall a very fun experience and worth the price!

I love this place so much. It's chicken with rice cakes, and you get to choose what to add ontop of it, too, like sweet potatoes, ramen, udon noodles, and so on. Service is very good and quick. Perfect for group settings. Not recommended to come on your own since you have to order 2 or more servings. I love the cheese classic with additional toppings. Once you are done with everything, I highly recommend asking to turn left overs to fried rice, and they chop and stir fry it up in front of you. I always kindly ask for extra seaweed too because that's my favorite part! They offer complementary side dishes such as macaroni salad, salad with dressing, fish cakes, and kimchi radish. This is my first time trying their fried chicken, and its not bad, but it's on the leaner side, and there's only one flavor with sause on side. Highly recommend!

So good and cheap!! We got 3 servings of the cheese dakgalbi to share between 5 people. We got mild and it was already decently spicy. The best part is honestly adding fried rice to the leftovers at the end- we got 2 servings of fish roe fried rice and it was amazing!
