my boyfriend and I love this restaurant. we usually do takeout, but everytime we pickup the staff here are so kind. the food is always amazing, if you go you have to try the beef teriyaki skewers they are to die for! side items are as good as the main entree. we have tried the white rice, fried rice, and lo mein and they hit every single time! every meal here is destined to be a good one! Even the lunch special menu has so many delicious options to choose from. pictured is the lunch special beef lo mein, lunch sesame chicken, crab rangoon, and beef teriyaki skewers 😊

The lady in the front is very nice, and the portion sizes are good for the price. Very delicious! Hunan chicken

Google
Great tasting food. Reasonable price. Generous portions. Friendly and quick service. Very clean. I ordered 6 different dishes and they were all good. Some dishes were available in 2 different sizes, pint or quart size. I would definitely come again.

Google
They have some of the tastiest and crunchy shrimp egg rolls I've ever eaten in town, and they also have a variety of of other things 😉

Food was fire. Ordered general saos, sesame chicken, wontons, and beef skewers. By far the best (American) Chinese I’ve ever had. I’ve had Chinese from Tennessee to New York, and this food was by far the top. Cheap and delicious. Wontons were huge and had the best chewy to crunch ratio. The chicken is cut up small so you get more fried chicken ratio and it is the bomb. The beef skewers were the highlight. They were AMAZING. Please support their Bussiness because god dam their food is fire. Next time I order I’ll add photos.

My food is always perfect and the lady who takes care of me is super sweet. I LOVE the spring rolls and the hot and sour soup. My daughter loves the garlic chicken.

Google
I think it's a great restaurant especially since it's been changed owners. The environment is clean and I can look the cook cooking. It can promise that the food is fine. I like the new style of the food.

Google
Great place. Very friendly people. Ran by the same family as the Chinese restaurant on S 40th & Old Cheney, so good quality food at a great price.

Yelp
Food was ready on time and delicious. Beef Ho Fun, beef was tender and noodles were flavorful!

Yelp
It's pretty basic, but the gyro I I had was packed with meat, which was nice. Skip the fries though, they are too greasy and salty. I will come back for the cheesesteak sandwiches, those look great!

Yelp
The service was impeccable and the boys thoroughly enjoyed the tastes of their soups! The theming makes us feel like we are in China

Yelp
The Hong Kong Cafe is amazing! It is one of the best kept secrets of Lincoln. Their Chinese cuisine is some of the very best in Lincoln. AND you can get an entire lunch, including a drink, for $7.59! How can you beat that? You can't. Just don't tell anybody about this place, or everyone will be in on the secret and start going there. And it will become crowded. And they will have to raise prices. Let's keep it a little secret just between us. OK?

Yelp
They served the food in disposable dishes with plastic forks! Too much soy sauce was also added to the food. Never going back.

Yelp
They renovated and reopened May 1 2021 and today was my first visit since the reopen. Before the renovation I visited often as the restaurant had become my favorite Chinese style in town. However - post renovation - someone different but just as amazingly friendly was at the counter. Customer service I still would give a 5 to but the food is just not as good. They changed the recipes on the dish and the crab Rangoon are no longer their signature triangle shape and taste like a different recipe too. I was really bummed. I think it might be new owners or management. Down to 3 stars because I just don't know if I'll be going back again :/ I will note that they do have a coupon now so if you do go make sure you grab a menu with the coupon! Also as for the renovation, it looks exactly the same minus taking out the fridges that had bottle soda and adding plexiglass to the entire counter area for sanitary safety. They have been really great with sanitary and safety measures all though the height of the pandemic!

Yelp
My wife and I ate there last night and for 2 meals it was $40.00, and we are both sick as a dog. I think they are under different management and the prices are very high and the food is very bad. My wife and I both have food poisoning.

Yelp
This was my first visit to Hong Kong restaurant on 27th. The young woman at the counter is a real, authentic Chinese woman. I ordered Singapore Noodle for lunch and Kung Pao Chicken for dinner. I am a voracious eater, especially when it comes to Chinese. I could only finish 2/3 of the Singapore Noodle and I'm so stuffed I can hardly move. The dish was beautiful, with the bright colors you expect. There were large hunks of chicken and scrambled egg, plus good-sized shrimp. Yum. Nice, clean, pleasant restaurant for dining in. I like it I'll write about the Kung Pao after dinner.

Yelp
Not nearly as good as it used to be. I will not order from here again. Generals chicken had 1 piece of broccoli and absolutely zero spice. Kung po chicken had no sauce and very oily. Fried rice left a lot to be desired.

Yelp
Such good food and really get slit for your money in my opinion. The Rangoon's are delicious. They also have done good keeping up with the Covid restrictions and I applaud all their efforts on that front. 4-stars because they don't answer their phones most the time.:/ I really Wish it were easier to order ahead. But the food is so good that I sit there and wait 15 minutes anyways.
google avatar

Peter James B.

Yelp
My new favorite Chinese take-out! The have the BEST hot-and-sour soup in town, no question. Their crab Rangoon are the smaller, triangle ones, but cooked perfectly every time. Their entrees are very generous in portion, and always very fresh, with high quality ingredients. You never get a taste of overly syrupy sauces or skimping on the key ingredients. The quality is consistently high. They do have a sit down area, which is small but never cramped feeling. We occasionally eat in, but usually take-out.

Yelp
I order delivery from Hong Kong on a regular basis & have never been disappointed. Portions are large & food is always fresh & very good.

Yelp
This is a great place for dinner. The portions are big and the flavors are fantastic, and they are willing to accommodate your tastes by adding or subtracting ingredients--just ask! It's great to order over the phone and pick up, too. Their soup is great and they have all the classics. We eat there all the time. Fantastic!!!

K M.

Yelp
Order online and when I went to pick it up, they didn't have the order. Fine so I waited while it was being prepared. Wasn't really overly impressed with the food, kind of pricey for what I ordered, "happy family" kinda of flavorless and small portion.
google avatar

Kent F.

Yelp
OK can you trade this over and over again. They must have changed Owners recent purchase the quality has gone down hill. I got sweet-and-sour chicken, all I got was fried chicken and rice. True Sweet and sour chicken comes with peppers, onions, and pineapple. I am done.

Yelp
Very average and ordinary Chinese. We came in on a Friday night at 7pm. Total ghost town. We ordered takeout, and while it took a while to get, the gentleman was polite and gracious. But when we got home? Total disappointment. Peanut butter chicken was thick and gooey, not the saucy, creamy style you'd expect. It seemed like there was way more breading than chicken. The Kung Pao was fine; it was spicy, but just plain. The crab rangoon was good, however, but not enough to outweigh the other issues. All in all, not a place we'll come back to -- especially when there are other similar places in town with much better food.
google avatar

Tracy R.

Yelp
Good thing it's cheap because throwing away almost the entire meal you ordered sucks. Just picked up an order of Peanut Butter chicken and somehow the breading on the outside is soggy af and the chicken inside is dried out and incredibly tough. All around nasty.
google avatar

John B.

Yelp
Tried the lunch specials, had broccoli beef. The sauce was a different flavor than the usual but in a good way. The broccoli was cooked just right. Not raw but not soggy. Lots of food for cheap lunch price. Looking forward to going back to try more entrees.

Yelp
Fast, cheap and pretty satisfying American-Chinese food. I've been to quite a few Chinese restaurants in Lincoln and always leave disappointed. As Peter James B. said, the hot-and-sour soup is delicious and the entrees I've ordered have always been hot, fresh and fast. (I usually get the Kung Pao Chicken.) I usually ask for extra vegetables and they add them in at no extra charge. Also, the location is convenient and easy to find. I'd recommend giving this place a try the next time you are in the mood for Chinese.

Yelp
Tonight was the second visit that I had made to Hong Kong. I love the fact that how the entrees are displayed is how they actually appear when served. They have a great variety of appetizers, including won ton soup, which isn't always served at Asian restaurants. I took a friend and my son there and he had the Sweet & Sour chicken while my friend and I had the Sesame chicken. Delicious. Great service, low wait time, good portions. Decor is basic and traditional but very appropriate. Most of all the place is CLEAN and one has a clear view of the kitchen -always a plus! I'll definitely eat there again. Prices are reasonable, too.

Yelp
This is my favorite Chinese food in town. Staff is very friendly and store is very clean and bright. Food is very fresh and very good price. Taste really good!!!

Yelp
I had the Kung Pao Chicken. I am amazed by the fact that I have had this exact same meal at 5 or 6 different restaurants. Why is it that most Chinese food restaurants in Lincoln, NE can't be creative? If you have eaten at China House, you have eaten at Hong Kong. If you have eaten at China Inn, you have eaten at Hong Kong. If you have eaten at China Palace, you have eaten at Hong Kong. Why? Are they all owned by the same person? Do they use the same supplier? Is there a "Safe for Nebraskans' Palates Cookbook?" The food is very generic. The flavor is, at best, fine. Kung Pao is supposedly spicy. Mine was not. The rice was white. Just white. The service was good. The prices are average. The portions are generous. I don't have complaints about anything except for the fact that I wouldn't go out of my way for their food. It is like going to McDonald's for an awesome burger... it doesn't happen. We go to McDonald's for the familiarity. Hong Kong has joined the McDonald's of Lincoln Chinese restaurants.

Yelp
Typical Chinese take out. Huge servings for what you're paying, but the flavor could be improved. Decor is pretty lacking, so the target market obviously is not the sit-down crowd. They're very nice and speedy though, so if you're just looking for a quick meal to go then this isn't a bad option.
google avatar

Lyy N.

Yelp
The crawfish here is just wonderful and the people are so nice. Most the time people come for to-go food so there was not much people in the restaurant every time I stay to eat ( which is really awkward lol ).

Danni L.

Yelp
This is an average Chinese food restaurant. We thought the food was cooked well, but bland. This review includes the garlic chicken and chicken lo mein.
google avatar

Kai Z.

Yelp
Cheap and delicious. They serve you a lot food you can't image. lol Always nice to try it.

Cody T.

Yelp
Wow couldn't even eat the sweet and sour shrimp i have a picture of a black substance inside of a fried shell that couldn't be cracked. I mean you couldn't over cook it anymore. Stay away. Waist of 18 bucks, worst Chinese food i have ever had , wish i could post the pic.

Susan L.

Yelp
What first sold me on this place was the flavorful and freshly made hot and sour soup with plenty of vegetables. The second was their Egg Foo Yung served as patties and topped with a mouthwatering sauce. To get exactly what I want, I order the Vegetable Egg Foo Yung with shrimp added. They are also very accepting of making dishes exactly the way you want. Owners are very nice, polite and accommodating.

Pra R.

Yelp
Typical Chinese-American restaurant although I ordered from "Asian selection menu" on the board (Beef Ho Fun). It is probably taste good for American but not for Asian, like me. The restaurant has wifi and is clean.

Yelp
pretty good for a basic Chinese fast food joint. i highly recommend the Singapore Mei Fun (spicy shrimp, pork, and chicken) was quite delicious.
