"The East Bay is home to a number of excellent dim sum spots with an honorable mention going to Saigon Seafood Harbor Restaurant. But if you’re looking for a more scenic spot for a group, Hong Kong East Ocean delivers. Located in Emeryville, the window seats of the bayside restaurant offer views of downtown San Francisco to go with a stellar selection of dim sum and seafood. Go for the siu mai and the Shanghai mini dumplings, and if you’re a fan of chicken feet, the restaurant offers three styles." - Dianne de Guzman, Lauren Saria

"Still a gold standard for dim sum in the East Bay, this spacious Emeryville waterfront restaurant serves traditional and well-executed yum cha fare. You can bring your own tea to brew while trying small plates of chicken feet, shrimp dumplings, and side dishes like Sichuan eggplants. Or, go fancier with a Beijing duck or whole fresh fish. Plus, the views can’t be beaten." - Dianne de Guzman, Momo Chang, Eater Staff

I was not impressed by the creativity nor quality of dishes here. It feels like cheap dim sum places quality. Also not impressed by the service. I would not come back here as there are better restaurants in a similar price range. The only great thing is the view and atmosphere.

We have been going to this fine&beautiful place for both family dinners and wedding banquets since the late 80s. Thus I have seen enough of its growth and changes. The setting and atmosphere have been the main focus of its existence and reputation more than its cuisine, I must admit. Both Dim Sum and dinner were about OK. Nothing really wow me even with its high end dishes like King Crabs, Geo duck clams, spiny lobsters, and abalones. Still we would go there for special occasions due to its atmosphere and service.

Google
Disappointing Experience at a Poorly Managed Venue I visited Hong Kong East Ocean Seafood Restaurant with high expectations to celebrate a friend's promotion, but sadly, it turned out to be a huge disappointment. The ambiance was far from what I had hoped for. The space was overly bright, and it honestly felt like a poorly decorated wedding venue, with chairs covered in what looked like dirty clothes. I had been expecting a darker, cooler, more sophisticated atmosphere, so this was very disheartening. Apart from the location, which is nice, everything else about the experience was subpar. The service was practically non-existent. We had to literally walk up to the counter during dinner just to ask for water! The staff seemed overwhelmed, and they didn't speak much English, which is fine, but it meant that every time we needed something specific, they had to fetch another person. This caused unnecessary delays. Getting the check was the final straw – we waited an eternity. By that point, the evening was completely ruined. To add to the discomfort, the cleanliness of the place was shockingly bad. We noticed toilet sheets and cleaning supplies out in the open, alongside other dirty and unorganized areas. It was appalling. Lastly, tips are already included. May be they know they won't get it otherwise. All in all, it was a terrible experience, and I was left wondering how this place has such high ratings. The location deserves a better restaurant, but this one is poorly managed. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Google
The food is pretty good. A nice selection to chose from. We tried a little of everything from the steamed BBQ pork buns to the jellyfish. The location is amazing. Going around sunset is recommended because the views of the bay are amazing.

Google
I went to downtown Chinatown to try some dim sum but found many of the places to be too touristy, and I couldn't sit comfortably. After checking Reddit and reading some reviews, I found this place that looked beautiful with comfortable seating. The dim sum was pretty awesome. I would definitely come back for some good dim sum.

Google
Wow! I came here to celebrate my fiance's birthday and was blown away. Beautiful location right on the water (though I suggest you arrive before dark). The waiter sat us with a great view and had tea immediately available. We went the dim sum route and it arrived quickly and was DELICIOUS. Personal favorites were the duck, mini Shanghai soup dumplings, Chinese broccoli & the lotus wraps. We wrapped it up with a few amazing desserts -- my favorite was a red bean steamed buns and they surprised us with another dessert that was delicious and to die for. Absolutely would recommend -- I was so caught up with the food I unfortunately forgot to take pictures Oh, and staff speak both Cantonese and Mandarin, in case that's important.

Google
Nice dim sum food with extraordinary sea view when we had lunch over there 👍

Google
Beautiful location, fancy upscale dim sum spot in Emeryville, come here for a nice bay view walk and have dinner or lunch here with a view. Food is mediocre and expect prices to be higher than normal. You are paying for the view and good service. @only1ChristineLu follow me on IG/Yelp.

Yelp
Service and environment is great! Some food is great some food is so-so. But we always bring friends to this place to host them~. My family always like to go there as well. I like their Bao and dessert.

Yelp
Food: Dinner special lobster noodle is very fresh and made with live lobster. Very tasty. Services: the new year eve, the waiter kind of pushy and try to sell you $150 steam fish. That minus a star. Ambiance: relax, window seats are little chill when not a lots of people.

Joyce H.

Yelp
From the restaurant, you can have nice view for the bay and San Francisco. Traditional Cantonese cuisine, taste not bad, but price is pretty high

Yelp
Sorry to say that the place has declined tremendously. The view is still good but the food and service varies by dish and server. We went for Dim Sum on Christmas Eve and got a window seat for lunch. They give you two paper menus to mark what you want, one is a dim sum menu and the second is a larger dish / entree menu. We ordered 12 Dim Sum dishes and here's my analysis: - Jumbo Shrimp Dumpling (5) - the skins were too sticky and stuck to each other or to the wax paper lining the bamboo steamer, taste was ok (Poor execution and pass on this) - Pai Guet or Pork Riblets in Black Beans, taste was ok but Riblets not properly band sawed and were likely chopped leaving numerous bone shards (Poor execution) - Beef Cheong Fun, we ordered and it never showed up so we cancelled - Chicken Feet, the only dish that came out steaming hot, decent taste - Salt & Pepper Calamari, came out warm, taste ok - Deep Fried Meat Dumpling or Hom Sei Gok , thick skin, not much meat and came out warm and not hot (Poor rendition) - Salted Egg Yolk Bun, the egg yolk was not runny enough, cold and coagulated - Gailan or Chinese Broccoli, what can go wrong with a boiled green veggie? Well, it came out in long pieces that should have been cut - Taro Puff, ok but had better and this was the second order after we sent the first one back because of a hair on one of the puffs...they need to wear hair nets in the kitchen... - Daikon Cake, good - Chicken Sticky Rice in Lotus Leaf, ok but needed to be steaming hot - HK Style Rice Roll with Peanut and Sesame Oil, this is supposed to be a special item as they make the rice rolls fresh, we weren't impressed As you read above, many of the items should have been hotter and I think their problem is in the indirect delivery from kitchen to the table. The food is delivered by an assistant from the kitchen to a staging table in the section, then the waiter grabs the food and delivers in to the specific table. Problem is that the food sits on the staging table until the waiter comes around to get the food to deliver it to the specific customer. Too long of a process, just deliver the damn food directly to the table. Food gets cold sitting on the staging table uncovered. Service, we had crap service vs. table next to us had great service. Different servers. We had to ask for everything with communication being one way. Asked for more hot water for the pot many times (lid up for a long time), sent our Taro Puff due to a hair and no apologies, had to ask multiple times for take out boxes as the waiter never looked to see how many we actually needed. Not given a plastic bag for our take home boxes although other tables were given bags without asking. Very poor service from our waiter, fully suited, he was likely the Head Waiter as we saw him slice up a Peking Duck on the next table. Sorry, but I won't recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Yelp
Love this venue for the great customer service, fancy decor and AHMAZING views. I can only think of one other dim sum restaurant in the bay area that has views, its Hong Kong east ocean and HL peninsula in Burlingame. Both great restaurants. Fast, efficient, great customer service and quality dim sum. I always pick this place when celebrating the holidays with friends and family.

S L.

Yelp
$34/ and for 7people. everything was as expected except xiao long bao was less than expected & as pictured was better. Service was responsive except on doggie bags

Sylvia K.

Yelp
Came here for my Dad's bday! He loves coming here for his bday lunch every year because of the name of this restaurant! The food was good but on a pricy side. We got 6 dishes and it was almost $60 dollars . The view was priceless. And it's nice to come once in a while to enjoy some high class dim sum.

Arron P.

Yelp
The inside is very elegant and big. The service is friendly and fast. The food was tasty and recommend coming here since I was here for a celebration.

Snigdha D.

Yelp
Yummy! I tried this place with a friend who was visiting from out of town and was not disappointed. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The food was well prepared and the portions were satisfying. The view is amazing.

Chris V.

Yelp
Me: We got _________ visiting town. Let's take them to dim sum. Him: Do you want dim sum with a view, good tea service or good value? Me: With a view of course. Him: Then let's go to HK East Ocean. The weather is perfect and we could walk around the marina after. Me: Okay! *thumbs up*

Alicia B.

Yelp
The food was really exquisite! The service was kind of weird ,had a reservation for lunch and got in quick . The restaurant is very fancy and by the water which is so nice .We waited a long time to B served ,and the staff were not friendly at all ,but maybe because I'm Not Asian .The review that I saw earlier on here def rings true for me and my friend today .We had to flag down a server to put our order in ,not cool! The fanciness of this restaurant is great but the feeling upon walking in and not being asian told me a different story ..

Karin H.

Yelp
Went here on a Sunday and everyone knows how busy dim sum places get on Sundays. The view and location were amazing. Service: not the best. Everyone seemed so upset when you request something. You choose your options on the pamphlet then they'll bring it out to you. We got a variety of the dim sum staples. Chicken feet is my favorite! They took forever on our custard buns but they came out fresh and delicious! Pretty pricey place. They seated my party of 14 people very fast which was surprising but a huge relief.

Angie L.

Yelp
Good authentic dim sum! Great service. Got a table right away on a Saturday morning at 11:30am. The view was incredible...enjoyable brunch overlooking the bay...what a way to start the new year!

Johanna C.

Yelp
Experience here is exquisite!!! Food is good, staff are nice and the ambience is so warm. Love their dimsum and we'll definitely come back

Tanya M.

Yelp
We came here for Christmas Day lunch with group of 23 people. We were seated immediately with split between two tables. The first table was quickly greeted and orders taken meanwhile our table was greeted with hot tea and water then provided menu. None of us at this table had been here before but we figured out what we wanted to order as a group. It took over 30 mins to get a server to take our order and even then we still had to wait for the dishes to come out one by one and so slow to the point our other table was giving us some of their dim sum and plates to our table until finally some of what we ordered finally came through. The service here sucks which lines with most of the recent reviews. The food was ok and I don't think it was worth the price we paid. Even getting the check and to go boxes were a hassle. While there may look like a lot of workers they really did not do much to service our table. The food was good and location was nice but the service needs to improve before I would ever consider coming back.

Peggy W.

Yelp
I attended a dinner here last week for a gathering that served 18 tables of ten. The tables are a little tight for ten with chairs covered with fancy fabric. We had an 8 course meal plus 2 desserts of sesame balls and mango pudding. Many of the guests had left before the desserts were passed out, so someone at our table scored a complete mango pudding in the shape of a heart. The wait staff was very nice and we great about bringing us glasses of ice water and forks when requested. The food was good.

Katie Y.

Yelp
Great setting - we lucked out with a table by the water and it was so nice to look out. Dim sum is pretty standard and tasty and pretty efficient. We came late in their service and the wait was 5 min, so that might be the best approach! They ran out of a few desserts but otherwise I don't see any downsides of coming later.

Candy N.

Yelp
Get sum sum location with a view! Came for a friend's birthday and got sad seating with a view for all of us. Prices are fair. Got lots of shrimp dumplings, duck, a few veggies dishes and black sesame balls. Food comes out fast, and servers are quick. Besides hot sauce and soy sauce I do wish there was other condiments, but didn't stop us from chowing down.

Dharma M.

Yelp
The first time I visited this restaurant. It is by the water and has a nice view. We came during lunch time for dimsum. The restaurant was pretty full, and we were waiting about 15 to 20 min. The dimsum options are similar to other restaurants. Our order was ready pretty quickly. Now about the food. I can say it is average. It is considered standard, and none is outstanding. It is good but not wow. The duck skin is crispy, but the meat is not that juicy. About the service, it is zero to none, I can say. There is no server around us, but we can see many around other tables. May be next time we will try the dinner.

Roger H.

Yelp
This was our go to dim sum restaurant prior to the pandemic. We have been back a few times since. Our most recent visit reminded me what a w overfill restaurant this is. Service is always top notch and attentive. Food is always delicious and fresh. Pr ice are fair. Ambience is wonderful with sweeping bay views. Can't go wrong here!

Suzanna A.

Yelp
Great food for an amazing price. The parking lot was great, super spacious and right outside. The staff were super friendly and answered any questions we had. I want to try dim sum here next!

Debra I.

Yelp
One of our go too for dim sums and sunsets! It's a bit pricey because of the view! But so worth it! Service is good! The waiters are attentive and fast! Family oriented. Ambiance is relaxing.

Thomas B.

Yelp
I can't say enough about the wonderful solution of dim sum that they offer as well as regular entrées for dinner. In case you don't know it they have full dinners at this restaurant and are equally known for their dim sum served day and night. The atmosphere is always lively, and the view is $1 million view watching the sunset over San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge. There's plenty of help here to make sure that your order gets to you quickly and there's a flurry of activity of other people that are joining you in your epic delights .

Yelp
My wife's side of the family is up in Northern California to celebrate my niece graduation graduating from UCSF School of Pharmacy. This makes 3 out of four family members and relatives that have graduated from UCSF School of Pharmacy. The only one not is my daughter who graduated from Northeastern Bouve School of Pharmacy. We decided to get together for dinner near our hotel. We've eaten at Hong Kong Ocean Seafood several times. The food was very good. The seven of us to eat there tonight. All the dishes were very good. The stirred fried Chinese broccoli was the exception. They added sugar to given it a sweetness taste to it. It was not necessary. It made the dish taste a bit weird for me. I didn't expect that. The service was below average. We ordered extra lettuce for the lettuce wrap. All through the dinner, they never arrived. Yet, they charged us $6.00 when it came to paying the bill. We complained about it. The head waiter took the $6.00 off the bill. DJ's rating: 4.15/5.00 Would I come back? We think so.

Yelp
We came here for dim sum during the holidays and our party of 9 was seated quickly, amazingly. Our expectations weren't super high as the view is great.., But we were pleasantly surprised: some cool things we rarely get: jumbo shrimp- really jumbo. Like they were thinking this when they came up with the oxymoron. (More like langoustines perhaps?) Crab/scallop fried rice quite nice. The standard fare- siu mai, pork bao, daikon cake, bbq pork, stuffed sticky rice, all were fine. Service was good. Did I mention the views? All good.

Karina B.

Yelp
The interior of the restaurant is very clean, good ambiance, and we were seated super quickly. It is right next to the water so beautiful views. However the food was lacking and a bit overpriced for dim sum. -Crispy fried shrimp puffs were incredible 10/10 -House special pan fried noodles 6/10 -Crab meat shrimp crystal dumpling 6/10 -Chinese broccoli w/ oyster sauce 1/10 (bland steamed broccoli with a side of oyster sauce but impossible to get perfect ratio from dipping) -Rice noodle stuffed with shrimp 5/10 My group is pretty proficient in chopstick use but the plastic ones provided have no grip. Easily the worst part because we had to use hands to grab half the food.

Mark L.

Yelp
Dim sum was terrific surpassed only by the panoramic sweeping view of the bay! Very popular with big boisterous groups so can get noisy. Avoid the long wait and go on a weekday!

Yelp
Dim sum by the sea? Yes, please. This spot is perfect for vegetarians like me AND my meat-loving date, the menu is packed with options that delight everyone. The standout? The Hong Kong-style soy sauce noodles with green onion and bean sprouts (recommended by our lovely and friendly waiters) --savory, smoky, and utterly addictive. Dim sum carts glide by with an impressive array of dishes: steaming bao buns, fresh seafood bites, veggie dumplings, and creamy custards. The variety is overwhelming (in the best way), and the desserts are just as unforgettable. Authentic, bold, and satisfying, every bite feels like a treat. The atmosphere is quirky in the best way, with wall-to-wall carpet, a dance floor, and a chandelier that somehow ties it all together. The cherry on top? Grannies gathered for tea and gossip--a surefire sign this place is legit. The staff is quick, friendly, and attentive despite the constant bustle. And when you've finally eaten your fill, the seaside walking trail is the perfect escape. With stunning views of the city skyline, bridge lights twinkling in the distance, and waves lapping at the shore, it's the perfect way to end the night. If you're looking for incredible dim sum with waterfront charm and a side of retro flair, this spot is a must. Don't skip the soy sauce noodles--they're unforgettable.

Yelp
Dimsum with a beautiful view! Prices aren't cheap though, since you are paying for those views. Seriously, this restaurant has the best views I've seen yet for any Chinese restaurant in the bay. It's located right along the water in Emeryville. I really enjoyed this location because it was nice to go for a walk along the water after stuffing myself :D I came by for dimsum Saturday morning right at 10:30 when they opened. We had a large group of 9 and were able to try a variety of items from the menu. You mark what you want from the menu and they'll bring it to you. We tried a variety of items and in general everything was pretty solid. My favorites were the wu gok (fried taro dumplings) and the chang fun with crispy shrimp, but I feel like you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Prices are very expensive here. Even basic dimsum fare like siu mai costs $8.85, and one order of har gow costs $9.90. Because we had a larger group, that helped even out the costs a bit and our bill came out to $33 pp after tax and tip.

Ashley W.

Yelp
I made a reservation through OpenTable for a party of 6 for a Sunday dinner. The food was mediocre, but the service was awful. When we were trying to order, the server kept talking us out of the items we wanted. He gave his input at least 5 times, telling us that it was too expensive and/or he didn't like it. The food took forever to come out and in the end, they forgot one dish. The views here are beautiful though, and the dining room filled up very quickly. We were looking for a venue for a potential wedding reception but given the horrible service, there is no way we would be having it here.

William Q.

Yelp
I asked for extra hot sauce to go with a $90 take out order. They insisted maximum allowed is one more thumb size container of sauce. Otherwise they would charge another $5. I cannot believe what I heard. I get it if this was a $20 take out order. Excuse me, with tax I paid over a $100! Avoid them, they are low, cheap, and GREEDY!!

Victoria C.

Yelp
This was the most laughably bad customer service experience I've ever had in my life! And my friends who had lunch with me agreed. From the minute we arrived - into a crowded waiting area with many people waiting for their tables - we were abruptly told to take a ticket and wait. (This was despite having a reservation.) Rest assured: there was no friendly greeting! At all. In fact, the wait still turned out to be at least a further 20 minutes. We were only given one menu for the table, and asked for more but were told we couldn't have more. (We did get two additional menus after we persisted with our request.) It took ages to order the food, and yet more ages for it to arrive. It did not seem as if we had one server appointed to our table, rather various people visited us over the course of our lunch. There was an almost palpable anger emanating off the wait staff, which I found truly bizarre to the point of absurdity. The food itself was actually very good. The crispy spring rolls were delicious! In any event, none of it mattered really as we enjoy each other's company so much that we would have been equally delighted to be at McDonald's :-) In fact, that is my best tip - save the money and go literally anywhere else! The views, however, are admittedly stunning :-)

M C.

Yelp
Had dim sum today with the family. Overall, the food was very good. Service was also strong today. And it's always nice to see the ocean view from your seats. Will be back.

Christine L.

Yelp
Take a Hike on this beautiful coastal trail, with great views of both bridges. Then end your walk at this fantastic location with the perfect view right on the water and Nice view of the Bay! You pay for the view and decent Chinese food here. Upscale romantic environment to entertain any guest for any occasion. Dim Sum here were typical. The fried crispy noodles were a bit on the salty side for my taste. Tea is charged per person, and the service were quick and efficient. A forgotten gem in the east bay as I have not been here for many years. It looks like they have the plenty of fresh swimming seafood and great dinner options.

Steffy W.

Yelp
This is the place you would take your non-Chinese friends to... or your family for special occasion meals. The decor is good and it's very clean. The main floor has amazing view of the bay and the two bridges. The food is expensive , but sooo worth it for the quality. It's always delicious. Service.... Well it's better than most dimsum place.

Gerald L.

Yelp
It has been two weeks since my experience here and I am still angry. I'm angry because the service was the absolute worst. We pre-ordered and had a reservation for 12 people. Our total order including wine would have come close to $1000. It took 30 minutes for the first dish to arrive. Agree another hour and 15 minutes we had five dishes out of the 9 total dishes we were supposed to get. Steamed fish was the ninth dish. We waited another 45 minutes and nothing came. This is after asking our waitress four or five times. Finally I went to the hostess to ask for the manager. She pointed me to the manager walking up the stairs who looked at me and then kept walking up the stairs. So I ran after her and I told her our situation. She basically said too bad. And turned her back on me and went into the office. What the Hell. I went back to the table and then the waitress came out and said oh by the way we are out of chow fun which was an as on dish for the kids. Are you kidding me?? And by the way, no other dishes came out since I went to find the manager, which was another 15 minute. So it was an hour since our last dish came out. At this point we decided to leave And I worked with the waitress to deduct what was missing. We still ended up paying $700 which is bull crap. 3.5 hours of our lives wasted.

Khaledah W.

Yelp
I came during the end of lunch hour around 1:15 PM. The hostess seated me but I didn't get a friendly or welcoming vibe. I've never been here before, and the server did not explain how the menu works or asked if I had questions. Apparently, you mark your choices on the menu with a pen. Who knew? I didn't. I ordered the mini Shanghai dumplings as an appetizer. They were delicious and perfectly steamed. I also ordered a really expensive fried rice with seafood with curry au gratin. It was decent but It took close to 30mins and I had to ask the server what happened. The last straw was , the server never came back to the table. I never got a bill or thank you for coming. Another server that saw me looking around for five minutes finally decided to help me. The good part is that the restaurant is in Emeryville by the water and it was a beautiful scenery. The dumplings were delicious ! If I come back, I would like another server.

Sarah L.

Yelp
Summary: I'd come back here. I mean the view is nice. Service: I'd give them below average. They never checked in on us. We had to flag them down several times. I guess it depends on who you get. The other time we came here I don't think the service was this bad but it was not outstanding either. I also wish their menu indicated prices instead of surprising me with a slight heart attack at the end. Food: I love everything we ordered except for the Beef Tendon Honey Comb stew. The taste was too cowy. I even almost gag trying hard to swallow the piece I got. All the dim sum were not salty. Good for people watching their BP. Crab Meat Crystal Dumpling surprisingly had real crabs! (That explains the price.) That's a plus. The shrimp was big too and not halved. The wrapper is on the thicker side, but I liked it overall. Poached Beef Trip with Soy Sauce was good. Clean. No taste. I enjoyed this with Chinese vinegar mixed with the soy sauce it came with. Btw, the soy sauce is separate - it's a dipping sauce. Siu Mai these were hefty! No complains. Steamed Chicken Paw (yes these are the chicken feet, they call it paw) I loved it. It has enough "meat" iykyk what I mean. Chinese Broccoli is good but for the price I expected more. It's the tiniest portion I've seen from dim sum places. Fresh though. So that's a good thing. R.Noodle Stuffed with Shrimp were good too. Again, wrapper was on the thicker side but the shrimp size is good. They don't skimp here. Thousand Layered Cake and Baked Egg Custard. not eggy at all! I'm always scared to order anything egg from the dessert section because I find they are eggy. You know what I mean, right? These though, so soft, moist, and a joy to eat. Beware though, you may eat more than you'd like. We were charged 2 tea? Idk why. I guess they charge the number of people in the party? BUT the Coke though, that they charge us 2 when only my friend ordered a soda. Parking: plenty and free Bathroom: clean

Yelp
I used to love this place to the point that a few times we came and had a great meal and always promoted about how great it was, and being "authentic" with our friends and family - a few weeks ago, we took some friends around 1:00pm for late lunch/brunch - food was HORRIBLE, and service was worst !!! - fried rice is not that difficult to make, and was cold and tasted old - the other dishes were just bad, nothing to remember - nothing special! can't believe it for the price we had that bad meal and experience - staff was unfriendly, rude and we felt that they wanted us to leave so they could be ready for next shift! - bad , bad food and service !!! we are not coming back ever! go somewhere else for good Dim Sum! Don't waste your money here!

Diane J.

Yelp
Great food, beautiful views, enjoyable experience. Service is not super-attentive, but not bad.

Orawan S.

Yelp
Foods are delicious and reasonable prices. So many selection of dim sum and hot foods. We arrived there for brunch and inside was crowded. Unlucky to get the table with a nice view but inside was bright anyway. The service was quick and our servers were so nice.

Sharon C.

Yelp
Came here to have dinner and watch fireworks for fourth of July! If you are looking for authentic quality Chinese food, you must come here! The options are endless, from honey walnut shrimp to steamed Chilean sea bass. They also have plenty of dim sum options as well but be advised to come early! They always have a big line on the weekends! The restaurant has a great view of the bay area as it sits right on the bay of Emeryville so perfect sight to catch on lunch or dinner!

Sylvia K.

Yelp
Overall, really liked this place. Food was good. We were lucky enough to get a table near the window with a beautiful view of the bay & the city. They told us 30 minutes wait. They we're very organized and our table was available sooner. They had push carts with food and also ordered off of menu. dim sum is delicious and seemed very authentic. I could imagine the wait can be very long, but we lucked out this day. Sadly, I was too busy eating so I forgot to take any pictures of food. There's also a nice walking path along the water take a stroll before or after dinner.

Yelp
This is what East Bay can offer. I wasn't overlay impressed with their food, but the view is stunning. Eating, chatting and taking a look at the view. It makes the whole experience worth it. Their shrimp dumplings are too sticky to the paper and they all broke when I used my chopsticks to pick them up, and their chicken feet are in the smaller portion. Compared to some great dim sum places in SF, this place is definitely not my favorite, I haven't tried their seafood, probably won't come back unless my friends really want to come for the view. People here are efficient and nice. Also tips are automatically taken.

Yelp
If you are fortunate to be invited as a guest to a baby party or special occasion, you'll be in for a treat at Hong Kong East Ocean Seafood: beautiful views, variety of menu options and indulging in their special event menus. This was my second visit, with the first about 25 years ago for an engagement party. The 100-day Baby party I attended offered a 9-course meal of delicious entrees and dessert which are more traditional Chinese food that symbolize: happiness, fertility and longevity. No menu items from "the Panda" found at this event! Okay, maybe the walnut prawns but that was about it :) and yes, it was very good! Unfortunately, my palate is more Americanized so there were items I skipped like the baby octopus (eeks), jellyfish (oh no!), elephant-fish fin soup (hmmm) and didn't fight anyone at the table for the fish cheek or crab head. Still, I enjoyed the various dishes that made the childhood memories flood back to the days of Chinese wedding receptions, red egg and ginger parties (in Oakland and SF Chinatown) and Chinese Association dinners in Stockton. I haven't been to the restaurant for dim sum or take out so review is based on the banquet set menus. All dishes prepared nicely, service was attentive, private room with a nice view and being a guest (thanks to my friend Patrick!) made for a memorable dining experience.

Yelp
View, food and service were great ....Had so many dishes (pre fixe) that I can't list them all but the honey walnut prawns and crispy egg rolls were excellent..best I've had. Couldn't get over how nice the view is ..it literally takes the experience up a few notches...parking was tough as this place I'm guessing is always packed ...you can also get a nice waterfront walk in after eating ...highly recommend!

Yelp
This had, unsurprisingly, absolutely amazing dim sum. I was most surprised and happy that they served dim sum for dinner! This place had the normal but still amazing pork. Shrimp, chive, breaded and dumpling style dim sum. They also had the best read bean sesame ball desserts I have ever had, and gelatin cubes of coconut pudding. I recommend this place very highly, this time for normal dim sum!

Yelp
Food for the wedding banquet was good, but the fish was so my favorite! It's so so so good, I can eat it all myself. Hehee

Yelp
We were seated quickly, and the availability of parking outside was convenient. The view of San Francisco from the East Bay side was stunning. Among the dishes we tried, the baked pork bun was a standout with its fluffy crust, and the siu mai was delicious. The steamed pork ribs were tender and easily came off the bone, though the sesame balls weren't my favorite. However, the coconut jello with sweet taro paste was a highlight and definitely worth trying. It's worth noting that there's a 16% service fee added to each bill.
