Google
I got their Salmon Poke bowl. Salmon was fresh. Could taste it was properly handled and stored. Everything tasted fresh and of good quality. Also got their Teriyaki Shrimp. The shrimp where large and perfectly cooked. And their Boba teas are excellent !!! Very friendly staff. Only negative no plastic wear and didn't realize that till back at motel

Came into this restaurant for the first time, i was quite impressed by their dim sum offerings and was pleasantly surprised by the attentive service and the thoughtful selection available. While each dish boasted quality, I found myself longing for a bolder flavor profile in the Szechuan Beef. Nonetheless, despite its simplicity and its offerings its definitely worth your while. I’m Excited to come back and try more exciting dishes in the future.

Mannnn if I can get it 0 stars I would! This has to be the worst Chinese food I’ve ever had. Too expensive for this bland undercooked nasty greasy food. $17 for delivery that they send to Uber eats please this place is not worth looking at. The peach bum is filled with chocolate filling nothing to do with peach, the chicken looks like it’s possum meat it was pink and undercooked and had a slight smell it didn’t taste like chicken either you could taste the nasty grease. I was sooo disappointed to spend $60 on food that I didn’t get chance to enjoy because it was so foul, I would much rather have McDonald’s! Dumplings plain and bland you have to pay for soy sauce, utensils, chop sticks and fortune cookies or anything extra you want or need. It’s a scam place that should be shut down. You’re much better off buying Walmart Chinese food.

Google
Upon ordering 3 drinks of boba tea, which are pretty decent price more than other places around Spokane. I ordered this po platter, which is like a $20 combination meal including drinks, is probably about 40 bucks, which is okay for lunch. After picking what was edible out? This is what's left over, which is guaranteed 80% of the meal. They did not offer me a refund, so I'm leaving a Yelp. Letting you know, spend your money at your own risk. Unless it's boba tea, they know how to make thats 🤪

Google
it was a super nice place :) super quick to get our food and drinks (the bowls were super yummy, we thought the boba was okay, not the best we've had) lots of options for everyone! restaurant was clean inside, seating was a little awkward but not super loud or anything. definitely a bit on the expensive side

Google
I love this place it’s not super authentic but it’s very yummy! Good price large plates all this for 18$! It’s a win for me!

Google
Very disappointed with the dinner I just brought home. I was really looking forward to introducing my kids to some Chinese food for the first time. Now I admit, I knew I wasn’t expecting the best stuff, but no one would even eat this. I am a fan of greasy fast food Chinese and I wouldn’t even eat this. The almond chicken sauce was paste, the egg drop soup was so gelatinous it resembled half cooked jello, and the meat in the other dishes was fatty and overly greasy. I hate leaving these reviews, and worst of all my wife had told me it wouldn’t be a good choice and I had to say she was right. Don’t care about the $70+, it was just a really poor meal. This place used to be so much better.

Google
Poke bowl was amazing. Salmon tasted pretty fresh and boba drinks were great too. We did the dim sum as well but the Poke was much better

Yelp
Ma Po Tofu has become one of my favorite dishes. And really delicious steamed dumplings are hard to find in Spokane. Mr Wok does an outstanding job with both. Since I've been exploring the menu at Hong Kong Express, it was time to test them with my cherished favorites. All I have to say is bravo on the Ma Po Tofu and the steamed dumplings were really good! They don't put ground pork in theirs, but they didn't overdo it with the added peas & carrots. The sauce was mildly spicy (I'm going to ask for more spice next time), was balanced had a nice depth of flavor. The steamed dumplings were delicious packets of tender morsels. The seasoned soy sauce blend was the perfect dipping sauce. Good egg rolls are also hard to find. The beef egg roll was pretty decent. I ordered extra hot mustard because I prefer to mix it with ketchup to dip my egg rolls and some of the dumplings. Overall, I'm really enjoying the food I've ordered from Hong Kong Express!

Yelp
For their category as mostly a take out place, it's easy for me to give them a 5. We've had them half a dozen times and the food is always great. All of it! We have been enjoying camping at the state park close by, and it was an easy choice for our dinner this trip. And you always get to enjoy what you didn't finish the next day. It's fun to try new places, but it's also great to grab something you know will be delicious. This place is very very consistent.

Yelp
The food here is not good. We ordered $57 worth of food and the majority of it was not edible. I ordered the sweet-and-sour chicken and almond chicken with lo mein for $26. The all of the chicken was just breading. There was no real good amount of chicken in any of the chicken dish. The lo mein was simply noodles and cabbage. My wife ordered a three dinner meal with Kong, pow chicken general Taos chicken and another beef dish with fried rice. She had to throw away the general Taos chicken because it was very chewy and not edible. We ordered this on Saturday, 8 December don't waste your money here the food is basically worthless and they charge you ridiculous prices for it . Check out my chicken pictures to see how much breading is in the chicken and how small the actual like chicken tender things are.

Yelp
Finally decided to try this place. I placed my order online. Pretty pricy but I thought it would be worth it. The only place u can eat and not sure if it's just to pick up and dine at home the seating area is in the poke side. I wanted really bad to like the food since I haven't been able to find a good spot to stick to. I tried their noodles, sweet and sour chicken, egg soup. Id say the only thing I liked was the sauce to the sweet and sour. The noodles needed more flavor that I just ended up throwing it away and for that price it's upsetting. Maybe I didn't go on their best day who knows but it was enough for me to just not go back.

Chris S.

Yelp
Went in to pick up order. Said it would take 10 mins. I went out to my car and came back in 10 mins later. He then told me he didn't like my attitude and told me to cancel the order. Absolute trash. 0 stars.

Yelp
I ordered two dishes and two dim sum and the next morning I'm still looking for the flavor..... I checked everywhere but they forgot to add it.... I tried to find something redeemable about this meal but everything is coated in so much oil. So overcooked. Somehow dry and wet at the same time. The bbq pork is inedible. It's all going in the trash. I think it sat at least a day before being sold to me. The lo mein is so overcooked it's just a pile of mush. Coated in a thick layer of oil without a lick of seasoning. The my shu was slightly better but the flavor all comes from the sauce which they don't make. Their pancakes are dry and brittle but the mu shu is wet as heck because it again is swimming in a sea of oil. So much oil that the bottom of the container holds a half inch of liquid. And once again, zero seasoning. Just tastes like oil. The egg flower soup has no ingredients except egg, water, corn starch, and msg. That's the extent of it. That is the soup. Nothing tastes like anything and it's so covered in grease I won't need chapstick today. I'm throwing most of it in the trash and I do not do that. I cannot believe these reviews that say they like this. The sesame balls were fine. The shrimp and scallion pancake was also not good and thrown out. Oily and chalky. Don't get my wrong I like bad Chinese food. Even bad Chinese food is good Chinese food to me usually. But that's because even bad Chinese food has a lot of flavor. I don't know how they can mess up this badly.

Carla K.

Yelp
The food was less than run of the mill American Chinese. If you were hungover or wanted a late night snack after bar hopping or stoned this would be good. It wasn't bad but was not of any quality. The delivery was on time with no utensils after I requested specifically that I needed them. The portions were large, it's unfortunate I couldn't eat a fraction of it before I threw in the towel.
google avatar

Paul D.

Yelp
Bland Americanized flavorless imitation of Cantonese food. Portions are large but lacking seasoning and spices.

Yelp
Polarizing place, judging by all the review sites. People like it, or they despise it. Put me in the like category, because this is the NYC-style, greasy, fast take-out Chinese I grew up with back in the Northeast. I'd have been here years ago if I had known that. It is not health food; more of an every-now-and-then diet busting treat. And, I have finally found a joint in our metro that can make Egg Fu Yong like I prefer, with a semi-sweet sauce, as opposed to pasty gravy flavored with 5-spice. That alone will make me a repeat customer. It is a bit squalid looking inside when you order in person, which I'm sure will horrify many. And, don't expect rose petals thrown at your feet for service. They are busy as h*** cranking out orders, and don't have time to be effusive. That doesn't bother me at all--but again--some people will 1 or 2-star'm for that. Nice job, Hong Kong Express. Never, ever, go outta business please...

Ashlee A.

Yelp
The food was great. We had broccoli beef, orange chicken, veggie lo mein, and a few spring rolls. Everything was delicious and the takeout only took about 15 minutes!

Yelp
Staying in Spokane this week and a friend recommended Hong Kong Express. Food is amazing!!! We ordered almond chicken, pork and broccoli with pork fried rice, and appetizers: wontons & shrimp dumplings. Everything was great! Beyond great for the dumplings! So simple, but so perfect in flavor. Couldn't take a picture because we ate them too fast. No joke! I ordered on their website, it was easy, and delivery was super fast to our hotel room! Delivery person was polite & masked. Woo hoo, good Chinese food still exists!

Yelp
So delicious and authentic food. This place is basic on the ambiance, but if that's a deal breaker, you can take it to go. They also share the space with a great Poke and Bobba place.
google avatar

K L.

Yelp
Food was okay and the delivery was quicker than usual. Never got any utensils or sauce for the spring roll but that wasn't a deal breaker. The only reason why I'm giving a 4 star review is that the beef broccoli could've used more flavor and the honey chicken was an interesting take on honey chicken...didn't know how I felt about it. But overall still good.

Yelp
We just ordered dinner from here and it was very disappointing. My husband ordered the Beef LoMein. The beef was barely cooked and noodles very soggy. I ordered the Sesame Chicken and it had an odd flavor. Very disappointing as we had seen good reviews elsewhere and heard it was great from friends. We went through DoorDash so we had to try and get a refund. Still working on that. I would recommend thinking twice before considering this as a dining option. It could have been an off night but I am hesitant to try again. Diner beware.

Yelp
Boooooooo *thumbs down* I know what to expect .. I knew it before ordering as well (lately the food has been a hit n a miss) but dang it the food was so bad :( . With such price points the quantity is meager .. portions were so small .. and it is okay by me if the food is tasty but it was not .. it was far below average with absolutely no depth in flavors .. the noodles were as if they were cooked a day before. . Ma Fu tofu spicy seemed like they emptied a store bought bottle of sauce over some tofu ..that is it . Never again .. ever

Bridget S.

Yelp
Best fried rice in Spokane I would recommend eating here Yes I love Hong Kong, every item looks awesome, can't wait to try all.

Z S.

Yelp
If I could rate this below 1 I would. The worst, worst food I've ever ordered. Absolutely terrible. We have tried for months to find good oriental, but this isn't it. YUCK! A ton of money for horrible food.

Yelp
I was at the dollar store and saw one dollar steak and out of curiosity bought some. This is Hong Kong express beef. If you like dollar store beef let me tell you, this is your spot.

Yelp
Not going to write about the poor quality fast-food section based on my previous entry here. This will be reserved for the Chef's specialty items. Not a lot of people try those as they often go unnoticed. When I saw their window ads for the boiled fish I knew I wanted to order it based on the images they displayed. If they want to get people to eat stuff beyond their comfort levels an ad acts as the visual cue to tell them what treat they will receive. When I ordered it they took a long time getting the broth right and adding enough spicy sauce. I did grow impatient 15 minutes later that I began asking them how much longer I had to wait. Not wanting to come back out over and over again I decided to wait inside. Maybe it was because my presence encouraged them to work faster or I stepped in when they were almost done finishing. What I noticed next was they only took a few extra minutes to bring my take-out order to me. I took this slower than usual service as a sign I would not go wrong with this dish. Sure enough, my instincts were right. The fish was really spicy with a slight numbing sensation just the way I like it. Many places add too much water and ruin the taste. The end result is an item that tastes like an overcooked potato dipped in too much cold tap water. One giveaway is if the soup looks orange there is a good chance something went wrong when preparing it. They, on the other hand, made it at least 65% identical to the ones I have tried at the best seafood restaurants. The red-colored soup had plenty of bean sprouts and fillets to add enough richness to the taste. I could tell the fish was fresh without the strange taste it usually has after sitting in the fridge. The sprouts were quite crunchy and good. There were plenty of special spices and ingredients added giving me the picture the recipe they used was in fact traditional. It is not the typical provincial style even though many great restaurants cook it to that flavor. I am convinced their boiled fish is the best there is in Eastern Washington. I do not care if the staff are from Fujian they did their best like most non Szechuanese to make it the best they could. Arguably It was well worth waiting 15 minutes outside in the freezing weather.

Yelp
It was OK. It was really good bad Chinese food. Really cheap though and I definitely will be going again. Just don't be expecting really really amazing Chinese food.

Millennial C.

Yelp
Ive ate hear many times. Lots of good and authentic. Fast delivery as well. Great dumplings.

Luda K.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing food, always fresh, and hot, loved how it's always made. Staff is amazing always friendly and fast, love there service, atmosphere is absolutely amazing, really enjoy coming by, would 100% recommend this place to Asian food lovers

Yelp
Been super curious about this place for awhile; I'd say it's worth checking out. Pretty good fried rice and chow mein, yummy eggrolls. I can't say that I was a huge fan of the soup. I tried the Orange chicken- really enjoyed the sauce, the actual chicken was so/so. I also tried the fried Sesame balls. Wow. Delicious. 5 stars for all the buns/rolls/balls. Definitely give those a try.
google avatar

Yelp
I love this place! Best place for real Chinese food in Spokane. And they have dim sum!!
google avatar

Sara H.

Yelp
I started to give up on chinese food in Spokane, but decided to try this place today. It's soooo good. The vegetable egg foo young was amazing. Vegetable fried rice was good, and the vegetable delight was good. Had some good flavor to all of it. Nice big portions and compared to other places here, the pricing was relatively cheap. I'm pretty sure I've now found my go to chinese place. I wasn't expecting the large portions so now I'll be eating this awesome food for a couple of days. Really great place for damn good food.
google avatar

Adam C.

Yelp
I have never been in the restaurant, but have had it delivered a couple of times. While delivery is great and their portion sizes are large, the food itself is pretty unremarkable. Nothing seems fresh. It all comes across has heaping piles of lackluster meat and vegetables cooked to oblivion and covered in a sauce from a can or made from a powder. However, if you are drunk, this is perfect. Lots of food brought to your face and you won't really care much what it tastes like.
google avatar

Christine T.

Yelp
If you are looking for some yummy comfort food that is familiar with fast delivery, this is the spot! I was looking for something different to have for lunch at work since the usual just wasn't sounding good so a coworker suggested this. I tried the classics- sweet and sour chicken and rice and also had some dim sum. The cheese wontons! Holy cow! I immediately dubbed them "cheesy pillows of heaven". I loved how fast the delivery was, too. Fit right in with my busy workday! I loved it so much that I ordered it the next week, too.

Dena M.

Yelp
1 star for my husbands meal. out of many restaurants in Spokane we decided we would not go out but order in! We ordered 2 meals for valentines through Uber Eats. Uber eats delivery only gave us one meal picked up at this Restaurant. We did not receive the 2nd order ! Dena .
google avatar

J H.

Yelp
Finally found a spot that has pork buns! And it's attaches to a Boba tea shop. All this goodness in one location.
google avatar

Mark W.

Yelp
My go-to take out chinese spot. Quick delivery, reasonable prices, and tasty food. The three item combo is a great deal and will feed 2-4 people easily, just make sure you order a couple extra spring rolls
google avatar

Kathi H.

Yelp
I went to Hong Kong express last night and got some noodles. I love that place. But these guys were not wearing a mask or gloves. I double checked to make sure the cook was wearing a mask or gloves and he was not and the other cook that was back there was actually eating with no gloves on and cooking at the same time. I don't think I'll be going back to the restaurant and I really like there food. My husband and I have been going there for over 10 years. And that's the only Chinese place I like going to I'm sad.
google avatar

Mel B.

Yelp
Still our favorite place for dim sum and Chinese food. Updating to add more photos to emphasize the consistent quality of food. Although we order a few times s month today's delivery on Christmas from the owner ( who we live) was extra special. We love Hong King Express! Do yourself a favor and try it 2/31/18 Sad to say this is the first time I've had a quality issue. I know they are expanding and maybe they're too busy but I was so disappointed in our order tonight. The house special Mushu for $14.59 was mostly cabbage and a couple pieces of shrimp which I ate before I realized that the rest was nearly all cabbage and imitation fish? Or crab meat? And the pancakes are just tortillas. We're used to the homemade mandarin pancakes which these are clearly not. And if that's not enough the box containing the dinner special was damaged and was all general tsao chicken, the order was for general tsao and orange chicken. $40 later left hungry and disappointed. Down a star and half. ‍

Jay L.

Yelp
If you look at the other reviews, you can see people's experiences vary wildly. I guess that's just the norm for this restaurant. It's either really bad or really good. I showed up on a bad day, so bad I couldn't even convince myself to order something. The customer service was just atrocious. Each question I asked was answered with a tone of annoyance. Do you have hot pot? "No, we don't do hot pot. Order something else". Even though it's on their menu. Oh, can I get the buffet then. "No buffet. What do you want now?" I want to eat somewhere else now.
google avatar

Alanda B.

Yelp
I ordered the lunch special for delivery. I had two entrees and a side. Let me start by saying if you want half rice and half lomein then add a dollar. If you want fried rice then add two dollars. Stupid charges that make no sense. Whatever. Almond chicken is Terrible. Chicken itself is good but the sauce it came with tasted like 4 days old, watered down gravy. If you want Thanksgiving dinner, this is the perfect entree for you. Zero almond taste but 100 percent McCormick brown gravy sauce mix. Orange chicken was the worst. I had a few rubbery pieces and made me want to vomit. I couldn't eat more than two or three bites for fear of puking. Egg roll was amazing. Comes with yummy hot sauce too. I would def order these again. They deliver which is nice as well. Great place for quick food but you may have to try a few things before finding the correct dishes to order.
google avatar

Tim H.

Yelp
Perfectly KIND STAFF! The food is worth twice the price, lunch or dinner. The dining room is clean and the food is hot! I love this place SO MUCH. I've lived in Spokane for 40 years, and today was my first time. Now I won't let a month go by without stopping by!
google avatar

Ken M.

Yelp
Ok, I came back here against my better judgement because a friend said it was so much better. Well, when I see him I'm gonna smack him. Actually someone needs to smack me for coming here. This was so bad. Everything was just terrible . Don't eat the buffet, just don't do it. I can't find one thing to say good about it. What I liked the best was the water. It was clear fresh and fantastic. I'd love the recipe for the ice, that was the best part ha ha ha. Never never again.
google avatar

Linda B.

Yelp
My meal was very tasty! Kung Pao Chicken, Sweet n Sour Chicken, Veg Fried Rice, Spring Rolls & Egg Flower Soup.
google avatar

Pam H.

Yelp
The portions are generous. We had almond chicken and sesame beef. The gravy for the almond chicken needed some more flavor. It was nice that they put the gray on the side. They have their take out business dialed in.
google avatar

Kari K.

Yelp
A great little local take away Chinese food joint, HKE is a great place for fast, fresh and plentiful portions. For now, gone are the days of the buffet, but the lunch specials put other places to shame. That peanut butter chicken...you haunt my sweet dreams with your goodness. Now they have a Boba Tea/Poke place up front. So you can get all your food needs fulfilled In one stop. Go there!!
google avatar

Jason M.

Yelp
Ordered almond chicken, was very hot and tasted great, egg drop soup was tasty and the bbq pork bun was great as well. Inside looked good, Little small but not cramped. Buffet looked great but I didn't eat any. ordered take out and took as long as any Chinese place, 10-15+ minutes, food was packed well and didn't leak on the way.
google avatar

Jason K.

Yelp
I wanted to try this place after receiving several door flyers and have seen delivery cars in the neighborhood. I opted to go pick it up instead. .. Really easy ordering from the website, prices are good also. I actually thought the dim sum was not bad, but the egg-roll was basically not edible , just way too much oil, and tasted like oil. I will try the buffet if I go back, its only 8$ according to the sign, many people were eating the buffet when I was there.
google avatar

Claire I.

Yelp
This place is just not great. Their portion sizes are awesome but other than that, not great. We ordered honey chicken and what we got was basically chicken drenched in something that tasted almost like a torani syrup. Most of the food just tasted artificial. If you go here, be sure not to get the pork siu mai either.
google avatar

Lin Y.

Yelp
Tasty hot pot and Thai tea. I ordered two cups of it. I love it!!! Highly highly recommended!!!! Five stars, you must try it!

Yelp
I came home late from work after having a bad day and wanted some Chinese food so I decided to get a delivery from Hong Kong Express. I was expecting mediocre food and a long delivery time... my usual experience with local Chinese delivery. But WOW was I wrong!!! I ordered the food and it came in LESS THAN 10 MINUTES! And I live mildly far away. This is the fastest Chinese food delivery I've ever had. Faster than Jimmy Johns. Very impressive! But it's gets better! The food was hot (I had to wait a couple minutes to eat it) and when I finally ate it, it was way above my expectations! Very tasty. I got the chicken low mein, and it was great. I've had my fair share of mediocre chicken low mein from many places across the U.S.... and this one is definitely one of my favorites! VERY generous amount of food as well as a great chicken and noodle ratio. I will have leftovers for the next couple nights at least! Hong Kong Express is now my go-to Chinese food delivery!!!

Yelp
Used to go here a lot, dine ins and pick ups. Great portion entrees and lots of different choices. The owner lady was nice, funny and friendly. Had a couple of pleasant times here.
google avatar

Yelp
I haven't ordered from Hong Kong Express for a while! WHAT? Delicious! Thank you! Moo sho pork, Almond Chicken, Beef and Broccoli!
google avatar

Carson W.

Yelp
I love the fried rice and orange chicken, chow me in was a little greasy but still good. The combo dinner for 2 could feed four people it's the best deal. Fast service at a great price.
google avatar

R R.

Yelp
We ordered the beef and broccoli, teriyaki chicken and eggroll. The quality of the beef can only be described as "gristle," and everything was slimy, and too sweet/bland. The eggroll was basically a fat greasy thing with no flavor. Delivery person was nice and pleasant, though. Makes me sad, because they're the closest to my house, and I'd been wanting to try them for a while.

Yelp
First time trying Hong Kong Express and I chose to get it delivered. Website had a couple of glitches but worked in the end. Delivery: Fast and friendly Food: Dim Sum: I love dim sum so i tried the bbq pork bun and the pork sui me. Both were delicious and full of flavor! Got a surprise order of their chicken meatballs and they were juicy and came in a tasty sauce. Lunch Combo: I got the beef and broccoli and the black pepper chicken with lo mein and fried rice. My box was heavy and when i opened it I found a heaping of food. Enough for lunch and dinner. The black pepper chicken was packed full of veggies and had the perfect spice kick. The beef and broccoli wasn't drenched in sauce and soggy, which makes me a fan. The sides were what you would expect for sides, plentiful and filling but nothing to rave about. Good prices and pretty decent chinese delivery food for Spokane.
