Service is slow on the weekends. It took some time for them to take our orders. For the food, I would recommend duck, beef balls, and siomai. Pork bbq was just okay. Probably skip it as it's not as good as other Chinese pork barbecues we've had. SKIP the rice noodle with beef, the beef felt nonexistent. You can barely taste and see the beef. SKIP their drinks, pricey and not good. SKIP the taro bun and pork buns. I've tasted many taro buns and pork buns and theirs was a disappointment 😔. Also, not a lot of meat in the pork buns.

We came on a Sunday afternoon and they were busy. This is our 5th time here and they did not disappoint. The daughter that serves and another coworker Sarah I believe, were hustling today. I commend them for how they delivered service, juggling take out orders, handling a full house and constantly making sure we were okay. The food did take a little long but that's fine knowing how busy they were. When the food finally came out, everything was presented hot and fresh! We had for appetizers Xiu Mai, rice noodle shrimp rolls, beef balls, sticky rice w/ meat in lotus leaf. The apps were fantastic and the flavors were great! For entrees we had the shrimp in scramble eggs with steamed rice and stir fried flat noodles with beef. Amazing, delicious and hot. Of course we had to get the traditional egg tart, which was amazing. Best homestyle Hong Kong food in town, hands down. Cannot wait to come back for more.

Google
I hadn't been here since they first opened, during covid I believe, and they were doing their own delivery. The ladies were so sweet and the food was amazing, I just hadn't made it back. So, I decided to take my daughter to have dim sum on a whim, and we weren't disappointed. My kiddo had a lotus drink while I had the hot milk tea. We shared the xiu mai, chicken feet, and BBQ pork buns, and we took 2 fruit tarts to go. All of it was DELICIOUS! Great staff, service was good, atmosphere is relaxed. I highly recommend and will be going back.

Google
This hole in the wall is a must. Though their hours are limited compared to most restaurants, you need to try this place out and you’ll see this quickly go towards the top of your list! The bakery side does run out of items so be sure to get there earlier than later if you’re trying to get some egg tarts or taro bread. I had the rice noodle with shrimp, Xui Mai (my fav), pork belly steam bun, and the spicy shrimp. All were delicious!! Paired it with the hot milk tea and finished it with a galaxy mocha mousse dessert! It is a bit on the pricey side but that’s most of Anchorage/Alaska. Hands down the best Chinese restaurant in town. Thank you Hong Kong Spirit Food!

Google
Incredible food; owners cook and serve. They are so friendly and the place was so clean and the food was spectacular

Google
Do you like chinese food? Or any food, do you like GOOD food? Cause’ it’s here! I didn’t get a picture of the spareribs but those were so tender. It’s a special sometimes. Been here a handful of times, every visit was enjoyed.

Google
Finally had lunch here!! Wow!! You have to give it a go!! I had the Mongolian Beef with rice, had them make it spicy!!! The flavor was amazing!! Truely happy mouth food!! One of the top 3 I have had here in Anchorage !! Vivian Mike had the Spicy Shrimp with rice Nice and crispy even coated in the sauce!! Both had the fruit tarts and they were very refreshing!! On weekends they have dim sum and heard ya better show up early before they run out. This is only on Saturday and Sunday for the Dim Sum

Google
It's definitely looks like a hole in the wall, but don't judge a book by its cover. Went in early for a Dim Sum brunch, and was greated by Izabella. Once seated we made her life easy and ordered one of everything off the Dim Sum menu. Everything came put well cooked and perfectly seasoned. My favorites were the Xiu Mai and the different rice noodles. I know my friend's was the one of the steamed bread. Can't wait to go back and order the menu again. Perfectly filling for 2, maybe 3.

Yelp
Great to have an opportunity for Dim Sum in Anchorage. Food has always been great here. The service was fully on point and the owners clearly appreciate their patrons.

Yelp
We came here on a Saturday around 4:30pm. We wanted to try their dim sum, only on weekends. We got two BBQ pork belly bao buns, they were really tasty. We also got steamed bbq pork bun, Chinese pork sausage steam bun, Xiu Mai, and the red bean paste steak bun. If I came here again I might try some of the other main dishes you can get on the week day but I would definitely get the red bean paste bun and the pork belly bao buns. The meat portion is really two bites and you get two in an order. We also got egg tart for dessert. They were out of a few things including the seasame balls which we would have tried. It was pretty empty when we came, only one other table occupied. The outside kind of fools you because you just park wherever and they also share the building with other tenants. Overall the food was not disappointing, and especially so because you basically can't find this food anywhere else in town.

Yelp
Hands down! This is the BEST Chinese food in town! I would recommend trying this restaurant!

Yelp
Good Chinese takeout. There were 12 of us, so we ordered the fried rice, rice noodles with beef, Mongolian beef and General Tso's chicken. The fried rice was the best, but all of them were good. My main complaint would be that they were spice level 0. The general Tso's tasted closer to orange chicken, and the Mongolian beef was tasty but lacked any spice. If we ordered here again, I would ask if they could spice things up. One happy surprise is that the prices shown online are around 30% higher than the menu prices, but we paid the lower price for our phone-in order. And there are several more dishes on the print menu. See my photos for the current menu.

Yelp
Staff was super friendly. The food was fantastic. We got to go on a Saturday and enjoy some dim sum. We did go a couple hours before close so they were sold out of quite quite a few things. Recommend showing up early. places kind of a hidden gem not where I would think to drive to on a dead end Street for a food restaurant. Kind of tucked away and hidden, but definitely worth the trip. The prices were definitely fair. We kind of ordered tapas style and ordered a lot of things to share around the table. Portion sizes themselves for the price wasn't bad at all.

Yelp
Spent 20 years going to dim sum in San Francisco (SF) and really miss it. Hong Kong Spirit Food in Anchorage may have fewer selections but is excellent quality dim sum. It is a Family run business and service is always excellent (something rarely true in SF dim-sum houses.) Ambiance & location is quirky in a good way. A hidden gem My only complaint is they run out of some of my favorite dim sum entries by 11am , so if i want a full selection, i am forced to rise early on the weekend :)

Joyce W.

Yelp
Dim Sum was delicious. Nice and attentive servers. The whole restaurant is immaculate

Yelp
Kind of like a hole in the wall but good, authentic food. They make everything from scratch. I really enjoy their baked buns (hot dog and roast pork bun). Their dim sum is also quite tasty. A little pricey but not absurd for Anchorage pricing. Restaurant is clean and well-maintained. Staff are friendly; can't complain about the service!
google avatar

Yelp
Family owned and operated where Dad is the Chef and Mom is the Baker. Daughter was managing the front of the house and did an exceptional job. I was bummed to learn that Dim Sum was only served on the weekend but my experience was not any less because of it. Pork Wide Noodles, side of steamed Pork/Veggie Bun (my fave) and some butter egg tartlets were delicious. A little off the main drag but worth typing in those directions to find it. I'll be back but on a weekend! :)

Yelp
So excited to find authentic Chinese dim sum in Anchorage! It was a little bit confusing to get to; however, just know that your GPS is correct! The owner and the staff are extremely friendly and the food is delicious. They offer dim sum options only on the weekends starting at 8 AM. The first time I came here for dinner and made a point to come here early on Saturday. Both the dinner, and the dim sum choices were cooked perfectly and relatively inexpensive. Definitely recommend if you're in the area and wanting authentic Chinese food. You won't regret it at all!

Yelp
The food is amazing! It's probably my favorite spots to eat at when I have a hankering for good Asian cuisine. Their Simon Fried Rice is probably the best fried rice I've eaten! (Uncle Roger would approve-iykyk) The chicken curry was delicious and the Mapo Tofu is so full of flavor. I'm not always in the mood for tofu but when I am, this dish is everything! Garlic shrimp is full of flavor and their stir fried seasonal vegetables are on point. I've been there on the weekends when they do their dim sum. There's not a lot of options for dim sum that they offer (like you would find at a specialty dim sum restaurant in a Chinatown in the lower 48) but it still has variety and its a tasty variety that they do offer. Also, the pastries and deserts they have on hand are so good. My go to is the fruit tart. Give it a try! The service is attentive and kind here. It's a family owned restaurant so I believe its mainly the daughter that is the main server with mom coming out to help when busy. Dad is in the back cooking for the most part from what i've seen. When I've gone in, the daughter is always welcoming and will make suggestions when asked. This restaurant is located in the most unsuspecting place....but I kinda like that. The serving plates and tea sets are all mismatched, but it makes the quirkiness stand out and the experience so neat and different. It's by no means fancy but the food and service is too good to pass up. Give this little gem a chance! You will not be sorry!

Yelp
Don't be fooled by the exterior, this place inside is niiiiice! I just love how quaint and cozy it is. There's so much food to try. I recommend ordering some different items and sharing. The dim sum was delicious and fresh. They have some adorable desserts and baked goods. I love that you can order hot tea in a teapot for your table. They even have boba tea and mochi. Service was welcoming from the moment we walked in to the moment we left.

Yelp
This place is legit. My family is of Hong Kong heritage - the food is good, authentic, and the service is great

Yelp
I've had my eye on this place for a while, finally had the time to stop in and order a couple of things off of their menu. I called in to see if they had a whole roasted duck available! Yes, I know..that's a lot of duck!! My mom has been requesting duck forever and constantly reminding me every time I am in Anchorage. Finally BAM! Ordered a whole duck and placed an order of the crispy pork belly and rice to-go! Service was awesome! They've accommodated my request of ordering a whole duck on the fly and not giving a 24hr notice! Super nice of them! Also, very welcoming and really friendly once you walk in. The restaurant is really cute and cozy! Yummy baked goods are on display for sale and the option of ordering different types of latte's and smoothies are available. The prices are really good! I was excited to see that their items are priced fairly and not ridiculous like other places. Now onto the good stuff: The food is delicious! The duck was super juicy and very tasty! Loads of flavor! Absolutely worth the trip and the whole duck :). The pork belly was very tasty too! I love the use of five spice, not too overwhelming and not to scarce. I thoroughly enjoyed everything, including my family. It's hard to find good quality Cantonese style food, this has been a great experience. I look forward to stopping in on the weekends to try the dim-sum here soon. Dim-sum review to be posted later...

Yelp
I would recommend coming here early. The service here is pretty nice. And they only do dim sum on Saturday and Sunday. They ran out of a lot of things and it's only 3pm. The boba milk tea is authentic and very well made. The pork belly and rice is pretty amazing. It's kind of oily but that's what I expected. The flavor of the food here is top notch. The beef balls are pretty tasty. But wasn't my favorite. The Xiu Mai has so much flavor to it. The steamed bbq pork buns are the best! Love the bigger pieces of pork in it. The Chinese pork sausage bun is one of my favorites. It's nice and sweet and savory. The red bean paste buns is sweet and tasty. For dessert we got the pandam cake roll and also the pineapple bun. The cake roll is nice and fluffy! Very good the pineapple bun is nice and sweet and fluffy. Would highly recommend coming on the weekend early in the day.

Yelp
3.5 out of 5 Overall a great dimsum place in anchorage. Suimai and steam rice rolls was our fav can't go wrong. Roast pork was too salty for the table Curry puffs too dry and not savory enough. Mapo tofu was spicy! Texture was spot on would definitely order again. Fried rice. Very good! Clean flavor not too salty big prawns and fried very well. Service was great. The food came out in intervals wish it came out all at once because we have a large party.

Yelp
I am from Boston. So this review is based on my experience in Boston and compare it with Boston dim sum. If you are local in Anchorage, I guess this should be a good place. But if you are looking for a really good dim sum restaurant like we have in Boston (like Sun Kong) then you will be disappointed.

Jonathon P.

Yelp
Very nice little hole in the wall family. Great house made noodles. Will need to keep it on the list. Limited hours.
google avatar

Krystle L.

Yelp
If you only have an hour for lunch, don't come here. 1 chef and 1 server for this delicious family run restaurant. Otherwise, this place is fantastic and food is authentic.
google avatar

Ai L.

Yelp
I ordered their weekend delivery a couple of weekends ago. great service, paid over the phone with a credit card. limited contact. They dropped off the food in front of my garage door in a box. Yummy duck and rice. Also I appreciate a good Asian pastry here in Anchorage, pineapple bun :D I like to stuff the pineapple bun with 肉鬆. That is my favorite breakfast at work typing away chowing down the pastry! Please order deliveries for these small business. You can find their menu on fb.

Yelp
What you need to know: same space as Roti, open Sundays only. I'll be honest, I don't know alot about dim sum. I'd describe it as "Chinese Brunch Tapas". There's a long list of shareable food, and you order and share. The food was very good, and a complete carb overload! (your blood sugar will sky rocket, you'll feel on top of the world, and probably require a nap 1-2 hours later). I'd recommend not doing what we did, and going hog-wild on bready/bun items. Make sure you balance them out with the meaty stuff! We got some "dragon" tea to go with it. I'm not sure what that means, but it was incredible. Very friendly, family-run service. Give 'em a shot!
google avatar

Katherina B.

Yelp
The shu mai, bbq steam pork buns, adzuki (red bean) steam bun, and mapo tofu were delicious and authentic Chinese cuisine. We also had Samanco green tea adzuki ice cream
google avatar

Dexter R.

Yelp
For just one entree and rice I felt like it was a little overpriced at $15-$18. The service was quick and friendly but I don't think the food was anything extraordinary.
google avatar

Keiko C.

Yelp
Short staffed so wait was about 45 mins for 4 Items we ordered. But food was great. Only thing missing. Spicy chili for the Dim-sum. Improvements with staff could make it better.
google avatar

Kim K.

Yelp
This was so good! We ordered smorgasbord of items for the weekend dim sum on Sunday! We also got the shrimp and egg special. Our favorites were the shrimp roll, meatball dumpling (xia sa something) and honestly it was all good we just don't have the menu in front of us to spell it all out, would come back!!
google avatar

Blaine H.

Yelp
Food and service in this family owned restaurant is excellent. Everything looked and tasted great. Another keeper in the Anchorage food scene. Saturday and Sunday are dim sum days! The best.
google avatar

Will V.

Yelp
Tasty dim sum from a humble and slightly hard to find restaurant. I arrived shortly before 7p closing on a Saturday night (as a New Yorker, I have yet to get used to restaurants closing so early!) and the dining room was about half full with happy families. Dim sum offerings were more limited than what's on the menu since they had run out of several items earlier in the day. I kept it basic: the sesame buns were tasty, the BBQ pork puns were pretty good, and the shumai were meh, a bit tough to eat and heavier than to my liking. Service was friendly and efficient. Prices were very reasonable. If you get here and it feels like you are walking into the kitchen in the back of a church, you're in the right place!
google avatar

Harmon A.

Yelp
So don't let the facade scare you away! Walk in and you'll be pleasantly surprised! Great quick pickup food or dine-in and enjoy some of the best Chinese cuisine in Anchorage. I had a great experience and you will too!
google avatar

Arvi G.

Yelp
It was hard to locate at first, so I'm happy they had a sign near the road. The inside is so cute and the owner is so sweet. We were looking forward to getting dim sum but unfortunately they only do dim sum on the weekends (she let us know as soon as we walked in though). We decided to sit down and order anyways. We got the mapo tofu & stir fried noodles with pork. And they were both really good! I also took home some buns for my family (taro bun, coconut bun, bbq pork bun) and they liked them as well. I will definitely be back to try their dim sum!
google avatar

Jocelyn F.

Yelp
Cute place, it moved and is now on 53rd Street tucked in a street from Garrett's Tesoro and open more days of the week, Wednesday through Sunday. Super sweet ladies running the restaurant which is very clean and welcoming. We had dim sum (only served Sat & Sun) and everything was delicious. Pork belly steamed bun, xiu mai, bbq pork bun (not pictured), pork sausage steamed roll, hot dog roll, and the pink lady pearl drink for $29 plus tip. Will go again to try the fried rice and Mongolian beef and dumpling soups they mentioned after my daughter proclaimed how she really wanted dumplings. Yum!
google avatar

Kyle O.

Yelp
There's really not much for Dim Sum in anchorage, so I gave this place a shot. The steamed pork buns are about 1/2 the size of anywhere in the lower 48 and double the price, but good. The xiu mai was terrible. As far as anchorage goes, it's as good as it gets. Worth a flight to Seattle just for decent dim sum. Good service.
google avatar

Paul L.

Yelp
Visiting Alaska and had a "jones" for some dim sum. So we checked out Yelp and it led us to this hidden gem. Located in an industrial type of area, you stumble up on it. You enter thru one business establishment, and it leads you to the back. It's like a dim sum speakeasy. Then you walk in and find a cute little well decorated boutique type restaurant/coffee house/bakery. We ordered dim sum (WEEKENDS ONLY), all of the usual suspects were on the menu and even chicken feet. The place had one full table when we sat down at 10 am. By the time we were done and ready to leave, people were waiting to take our seats. Food was great. Service was awesome. The selection was great, try all of the baked Chinese goodness too. Fresh ground coffee and boba drinks. Enjoy!!
google avatar

K. L.

Yelp
Yum. I could eat these pork buns all day. So fresh and tasty! They are taking great health precautions at the door with temp check and sanitiser. The Popping Pearl drink was so refreshing.
google avatar

Curtis I.

Yelp
This place is an absolute winner. When the dad is the chef and the mom is the baker, you know there is a good chance that delicious food will come out of the kitchen. And it does! We enjoyed the Mongolian beef and General Tao's chicken. The flavors had a freshness to them. You could tell there was some TLC put into making it. It was Dim Sim time also and we had a bbq pork steam buns that were spendid. The atmosphere is warm and homey. If you are looking for some great Chinese food here in Anchorage, this is the place to go to. It's at the top of my list now!

Nanette J.

Yelp
Best Congee ever!!!!! And this is huge you all should try it even though it is only offered on weekends. It is very worth it. Simon is an excellent chef~!
google avatar

Monica L.

Yelp
This cute new family run restaurant is perfect for those interested in the basics and simple Cantonese food. We got the Saimin fried rice, beef noodle soup, stir fry beef rice noodle, mapo tofu, and standard dim sum. Really light and fresh, not too greasy or overdone. Also got the steam bbq pork bun and bbq pork bun to go. Service is standard & could be slow depending on who's on staff and how busy they are but super sweet and friendly staff and owners. Planning on coming back while we're here!
google avatar

Anne L.

Yelp
I'm in love ... Authentic Cantonese food!! In Anchorage!! Waited for them to open at this new location and only just got a chance to stop by Had pineapple coconut bun... Crispy top, crusted to perfection! Does pair nicely with their Hong Kong milk tea (slightly different than milk tea/boba btw) Got the lunch special - roasted duck w/ rice and is flavorful... Wished they poured a little of the duck sauce on top of the rice (not the dipping sauce). Definitely will be back! And definitely excited to come back on weekends for dim sum
google avatar

Jeremiah B.

Yelp
We used to live in Hong Kong, so this place was a nice little stroll back on time for us. The dishes tasted much like what we used to enjoy in HK. Staff were very friendly; they were understaffed in the kitchen at the time, but you could tell they were working hard to overcome that. Highly recommend if you are craving some authentic dim sum.
google avatar

Kimberley T.

Yelp
Wow! Best Chinese food in anchorage and best Chinese food of our lives! This has been on our list forever and we're told they were only open on the weekend (should had double checked) and we were always working the weekends. We went today after seeing their post on one of the FB food groups. I am so upset that we have been living here for 7 months and have missed out on the awesomeness. The FB food group does not give HK Spirit Food the hype/attention they deserve. My husband had the general tso - so fresh, tasty, homemade, perfectly crispy, not over breaded. Just perfect! He said he has never had general tso so good! I had the dumpling noodle soup and that was also great! The staff were fantastic!!
google avatar

Linda P.

Yelp
I cannot believe I did not discover this place until towards the end of my 3 month stay in Anchorage!!! The food tastes great! My most favorite dish is the crispy pork belly and riceplate. Sooooo delicious. They also have dimsum on Sat & Suns which I missed so much from Texas. So the ratings: Interior 4/5: It is definitely a hole in the wall type of place, but otherwise fairly clean. Food: 4/5, I ordered plenty of their dimsum and the flavors were great but not what I am used to- and I have eaten dimsum from all over. Otherwise we ordered the xiu mai, rice rolls, chicken feet, and egg tarts. Menu is limited and steamed to order so make sure you order everything you want. Took like 30-45 mins for all the food to come.
google avatar

Erica C.

Yelp
We were their first customers today! They have all the popular dim sum dishes. Food is decent for their grand opening day! I know as time goes on they will be able to perfect their dim sum even more. Family ran - super sweet and friendly family. They are in the same spot as Roti but are only opened on Sunday's from 8am -6pm. They even have the cutest re-usable bags you can purchase. Lots of bun selections to choose from as well. Nice to finally have a place in Anchorage that focuses on dim sum only!
google avatar

Yelp
A little difficult to find but the place is clean with decent food and desserts. The service was good and I enjoyed the quiet atmosphere. I highly recommend the mapo tofu rice!
google avatar

Yelp
A hidden gem! My husband and I LOVE dim sum and have struggled to find other dim sum places here in Anchorage. This hidden gem opened a few months ago. The owners and servers are super sweet and the food is great! You can tell it is a family owned restaurant and the people there are so kind and welcoming. We will be back! Make sure to order their chili oil paste for dipping your shumais.
google avatar

Cathy C.

Yelp
What a lovely find in midtown Anchorage. Tried the Sat/Sun only dim sum specials w shins I and steam buns- saw many other fun items ( stuffed rice noodles) brought to other tables. Also had their fried rice w shrimp and bbq pork - and stir fry noodle special w chicken. The flavors were amazing! I'd highly recommend a visit to this very talented family serving authentic food! Also very solid and modern covid protocols!

Yelp
Delicious! It was a bit difficult to find but well worth the little search. Service was outstanding and food was amazing. Generous serving. I had the curry chicken which was perfect. I ate all I wanted and my partner finished it. We will definitely be returning
google avatar

Cecilia A.

Yelp
Food is a little salty. It doesn't look like it's freshly prepared as you order. Staff are nice though.
google avatar

Melanie R.

Yelp
Happy to support this family business! Yummy food. Lots of variety and options. Perfect for that dim sum craving and would like to try their other foods next time

Samantha H.

Yelp
Surprisingly fantastic! We ordered the general Tsos and beef rice noodles. Flavors were on point, we asked for some spice and I want to know the brand of chili paste they use bc it was amazing!! We will def be coming back. They had a lot of different traditional dessert options as well, can't wait to come back and try the other options!

Yelp
Wow! This place is the bees knees. We arrived on a Sunday about 11:30 and we were questioning if it was the right place. Someone else said in their review it was like a modern "speak easy"feel to get there and they were right. They were down one server and let us know when we were seated. S happens and we were glad they let us know. They were working so hard we could not tell they were short staffed. We ordered just many items on the Dim Sum menu. I loved it, my wife loved it, my kid was smiling the entire time eating(my kid smiling is rare). We struggled not going back for dinner.
