The 8 Most Fun Dinner Spots In San Diego - San Diego - The Infatuation

"Hongyuan Kebab is Korean BBQ for people too lazy to move meat around with tongs. Skewers of spicy lamb, beef, and pork belly sizzle on an automated tabletop grill where they turn until ready to eat, so you’ve only got yourself to blame if they overcook. The $120 combo includes a grip of skewers and two larger dishes (choose the juicy dumplings and the refreshing cold noodles) that easily feeds four, so you can also budget in a few rounds of somaek—AKA Korean soju bomb—if you want to get loose." - candice woo

San Diego Restaurants Serving the Best Chinese Food | Eater San Diego

"This friendly Chinese-Korean spot, a newer addition to Convoy Street, specializes in skewers that diners cook themselves with the help of an automatic rotating grill set on each tabletop. The menu’s combo B set features eight varieties of skewers from an extensive list that includes spicy lamb, beef rib finger, and chicken gizzard plus a selection of two cooked dishes like shrimp fried rice or excellent homemade dumplings." - Helen I. I first found this restaurant while looking for new spots to share on my Instagram @SanDiegoFoodieFan, and I was fascinated by the rotating kebabs. They have a huge selection of skewer items, and they are cooked tableside.

Newest favorite Asian bbq spot. Street food style, they cook it for you on tabletop and the back of the kitchen. Service was fast because we came at the closing of lunch. But I do like the vibe and decor of this place. Only thing that sucked is the same for most places in this area, the parking. So be prepared to walk. Recommended: beef, lamb and pork belly!

Fun and interactive. The kebabs were seasoned so just place them on the grill and wait till cooked. The spicy beef kebab was super spicy fyi yet delicious. Must have the cold buckwheat noodles and cucumber salad. It really cools off the palate when eating the spicy kebabs.

Customer service here is top notch!!! The food was good but some of the meat skewers are very dry and tough. Love the spicy lamb skewers

Our waitress was very friendly and attentive helping us. She aided in the cooking process to help ensure nothing WaS over or under done to keep a consistent flow of meats cooking. Spicy lamb kabobs - very nicely seasoned with a good spice to them on the higher medium side. So not order if you are sensitive to spicy. Amazing btw because I barely dipped into my seasoning tray Original lamb kabobs - again, nicely seasoned and definitely not spicy. Delish Lamb spare ribs - the marinade is nice and they are delivered cooked well and juicy Enoki wrapped in pork bely - I was shocked by how delightful these are! Caution, they are tightly wrapped and retain a lot of heat (temperature) as well as juicy flavor Steamed dumplings - they weren't bad but not my favorite Beef kabobs -lacked seasoning but you do have it on your tray. I am a lamb girly so they weren't my favorite but I still enjoyed them. would definitely visit again

Food is not good. Even with discount it’s too expensive. Sweet and sour pork was all bread with a super thin piece of pork. The kabob beef tendon was plastic tasting with no flavor. Tofu skin was very plain. Service was good though.

Having lived in Japan, I’ve experienced excellent yakitori — simple skewers of freshly grilled meat that are flavorful, affordable, and satisfying. While Hongyuan Kebab is Korean rather than Japanese, skewered grilled meat invites comparison, and unfortunately this visit fell short. We spent about $40 for two kebabs (advertised as five pieces each) and one lamb kidney skewer that turned out to be just two slices. The meat quality was disappointing, with more gristle than tenderness, and the seasoning leaned so heavily on salt that it overwhelmed the flavor. Instead of leaving full and happy, we left unsatisfied and questioning the value. The service was the only factor that kept this review at two stars instead of one. Nothing extraordinary, but noticeably better than the food itself or the value for the price.
