The 25 Best Restaurants In Fairfield County, Connecticut 2024

"It’s hard to tell whether this saloon-style BBQ joint is ironically or wholeheartedly embracing its Texas roadside atmosphere, with its dark wood walls covered in vintage signs and rickety pleather chairs. But the food is certainly no joke. Come here for the crackling pork belly, smoked crispy half chicken, and gooey brisket grilled cheese sandwich on buttery Texas toast, all of which make the inevitable wait for a table worth your time. Skip the sides and opt instead for an outstanding chocolate chip cookie pie, served warm, and airy banana bourbon cream pie to end your meal on a high note." - chloe zale, ciera velarde

HooDoo Brown BBQ never disappoints! The atmosphere is just as amazing as the food. I went tonight with my buddy. I had the brisket nachos, Buffalo wings, and slaw. Everything was incredible. The nachos are next-level. They're loaded with brisket, pit beans, delicious cheese sauce, guac and more. The wings were perfectly smoked with just the right amount of heat, and even the blue cheese (which a lot of places treat like an afterthought) was seriously good. The slaw was fresh and balanced everything out perfectly. I continue to consider these arguably the best nachos and wings in the entire state. Service was fast, friendly, and on point, just like it always is. HooDoo Brown continues to be a go-to spot for a great meal every time!

This is the best place for barbecue in Connecticut. The atmosphere is amazing and you can smell the barbecue from the parking lot and it hits you once you walk inside. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The drinks are great and are done efficiently. I had the merica mule which was great. The food is wonderful and came out quickly. For an appetizer I got the garlic Parmesan wings which were full of flavor and made fresh. They were are well sized wings. We ordered brisket, sausage, pork belly, pork ribs, potato salad and pit beans. Shoutout to Sean superb service and very inviting person. Everything came out great and expect to return soon.

Food was amazing. Started with the nachos, a small which was big enough for 2 adults and a 10 year old to share. They were really good, and even had some form of smoked baked beans on them that were super flavorful. Then we had the smoked buffalo wings, delicious, smoky and spicy. While they were VERY good, my heart still sits at Beachland Tavern in West Hartford for the best wings I have ever had. Tried the brisket grilled cheese with a few sides. The sandwich was loaded with brisket, and the cheese had a smoky delicious flavor as well. It was a BIG sandwich. It came with their interstellar potatoes, think of scalloped potatoes with an herb and cheese mix. When I heard the description I was excited for them, to me that was the least exciting part of the meal. Maybe it was I had my expectations set too high, or they may have just not been cheesy enough for my liking, but I would have tried the Mac and cheese instead given the choice. The collards were up next, super vinegary flavor here, which I like. If you aren't up for your greens being super tart, then these aren't for you. We ended up getting a slice of cornbread as well, for $5 it was a big enough size that it could be evenly distributed amongst all of us. All in all, its about an hour drive from me, and while I happened to be in the area, I would make a special trip back just to eat here.

I had the pleasure of living in Houston for the past few years, and recently relocated back to the NY/CT area. I’ve always heard good things about Hoodoo Brown, and needed to try for myself. Went in on a Tuesday night for my 35th bday with a party of 6. Was seated within two minutes. While I didn’t get a look at the bar, the decor of the place definitely gave me a Texan feel. The smell of BBQ hit me right away. We decided in the Table Breaker. A $205 platter with enough food to feed 8–10 people. Comes with a dinosaur sized beef rib which was to die for. Two slabs of pork ribs while tender, still kept to the bone. The best brisket I’ve ever had. And more. Was too full to entertain any dessert, but next time I will for sure. 10/10 recommend. And I most definitely will be back!

Our first time here. Everyone enjoyed the food. The brisket was quite good as well as the hand cut fries. My son really liked the pulled pork and my wife ordered the half rack of ribs which were great. The corn bread was a bit dry and we weren't given butter. Our table was right next to a window, which made us feel like we were in a fish bowl with the people walking in and out. The inside atmosphere was really good and we enjoyed our experience!

I don’t usually leave reviews, but this one felt necessary. Unfortunately, the food did not live up to the hype—or the price. I decided to try this place after seeing it frequently recommended on social media and because it’s only 15 minutes from where I live. I genuinely expected a great experience, but I left disappointed. To start, the lack of ranch and the fact that all the sodas are Pepsi products was already a letdown. We spent $80 on three mac and cheese orders (none of which were finished—quite telling), a half rack of pork ribs, two slices of brisket, and garlic parmesan wings. The brisket was minimal and lacked flavor. I understand it’s sold by weight, but even with that in mind, the quality didn’t justify the cost. And as for the garlic parmesan wings—I genuinely don’t understand what kind of sauce that was. It tasted nothing like garlic or parmesan. For the price paid, the food fell short in both taste and value. I could’ve had a much better meal elsewhere for far less. That said, I do want to acknowledge the service—the staff was kind and attentive throughout our visit. Go eat elsewhere fr. Better yet make it at home.

The wait was worth every second. Hoodoo Brown did not disappoint. We ordered a few meat options and most of the sides just to get a full experience. My favorite was the brisket, tender, juicy, delicious, perfection. The cornbread was so moist, basically a piece of pound cake. My favorite sides were the apple cider slaw and potato salad. Definitely get the special sausage of the day. We tried a blueberry sausage that didn’t disappoint. The overall vibe of the place is very home style. It feels like you were invited over to your neighbor’s house for a get together. Go early and wear your loose pants!

As you drive up and see the large plumb of smoke rising, you just know you’re likely to have a great BBQ experience. And Hoodoo Brown BBQ really delivered the goods. As someone that’s lived in Texas I have an appreciation for BBQ. The problem in other parts of the US is finding good BBQ. Many places brag about how good theirs is but I’m often disappointed. Well, it’s morning in America! Hallelujah, I finally found great BBQ that lives up to the anticipation. Everyone in my group enjoyed their food experience so much that we’re willing to drive 2 1/2 hours again just to come here for another delicious experience. Pork ribs- GREAT! Jalapeño cheese Sausage GREAT++! Brisket grilled cheese- GREAT Brisket burger- GREAT! Sides- Seasoned fries, Apple vinegar slaw- GREAT! Our only disappointment was we filled up on all this deliciously great food that we had no room left for dessert, which looking at their description was bound to be another incredible experience. Food portions are large so don’t let prices scare you. And servers/ staff were so friendly it truly made our day one to remember. We’ll be back soon!

Yelp
My wife loves barbecue, so our early Mother's Day celebration brought us to Hoodoo Brown BBQ (based on a foodie friend's recommendation). After an hour long drive, we get to the restaurant at 6pm on Saturday. Understandably, the parking lot was quite full, though we managed to find a spot on the other side of lot. Stepping in the restaurant, the place looked quaint but clean, but that's about all I can say as we were told that our group of 4 would need an hour and a half wait. Thankfully, their take out register outside got us some food in 20 minutes. We ordered the Table Breaker (1 beef rib, 2 halves of chicken, a full rack of pork ribs, a pound of brisket, and cornbread), a side of mac and cheese, and Texas Poutine - all of this for $250. We found a table on the other side of the lot (a little shop around the corner that closes pretty early), so we made ourselves comfortable there, though I'm sure they wouldn't appreciate anyone doing this during business hours. But we weren't going to wait an hour drive home before digging in. I loved the Texas Poutine, though more cheese curds would have made it pop a bit more. The brisket was melt in your mouth tender. Pork ribs were flavorful and tender as well. The chicken was a bit on the dry side, but the skin was perfection! Cornbread is not southern style, so don't expect much sweetness there. Didn't leave room for the beef rib so the jury is still out. There is definitely plenty of leftovers for a few days, so the price for what you get works out pretty well. I wish we could've checked out the restaurant properly, but timing just didn't work out. If this location were at a mall or other location where you could do some sightseeing or window shopping, I probably would have waited. Regardless, the food was fantastic, and if we're in the neighborhood, I would definitely come back.

Yelp
This place has been on our radar for some time and we were finally able to make it in for a visit. You know when you are pulling up you're in for a treat when you see the smoke billowing from the smokers outside, and the smell hits you before you step inside. The place was packed and the wait was expected for this type of destination. The staff was super friendly and engaging. Our server gave us a good tour of the extensive menu, and there are so many choices its hard to pick. The food we chose was all amazing (and we had plenty to take home with us to enjoy later). The flow of food they produce and how fast it gets to the table hot and fresh is impressive with how busy they were on a Saturday. There was even a non stop flow of people picking up takeout trays. Kudos to the whole crew at HooDoo Brown.

Yelp
This place is amazing. Best barbecue you will ever have. They have huge smokers outback where they cook all of the meat to perfection. They have a really interesting menu as well, with multiple selections of meats. Also, they have an incredible barbecue nachos... Which sounds weird at first, but is out of this world. The prices look high at first, but that is because the meals are designed to split with multiple people. It's family style. If you do things à la carte it is more reasonable. I would say the prices are slightly above the average barbecue place, but the food is worth it. The service is also very good. Many times the food is coming out right as you finish the appetizer, which is perfect. Very nice people. I will be back often.

Yelp
If you don't know, now you do. GO TO HOODOO Brown BBQ. We had a 45 minute wait and that was expected but well worth it. The food was fantastic, great service and loved the vibe of the restaurant. A must go to in you're in the area.

Yelp
Second time coming here. We came for Father's Day. We ordered the Holy Trinity platter. Everything was great! We also ordered the bacon in a jar. So good!!! I only wish that we lived closer so that we could come more often.

Yelp
I was born in Texas. This gives my full rights to be judgy about BBQ. Fortunately there's nothing to be judgy about at Hoodoo Brown. The food is absolutely delicious. I will be dreaming about their cinnamon honey butter cornbread. The beans have a unique sweet and mapley flavor that I adored. The meat was perfectly prepared; even the turkey was moist and delicious despite being smoked (which can easily dry it out). The restaurant was clean, comfy and very authentic. The staff members were all helpful and friendly. There were lots of good appetizers and drinks. Our kids are not big BBQ fans and even they found something that they loved. MOST IMPORTANTLY let's talk about dessert which is homemade by an actual mom. (Moms and Grandmas make the best desserts.) We tried four different desserts and loved them all. The key lime pie is a special but I hope they add it full time. It was so refreshing. And the bread pudding with chocolate chips was delightfully sinful. If you're in the area it's definitely worth going.

Yelp
My husband and I ordered take out, we pass this place every time we go to Danbury. We called before they closed to grab some food for take out. Person who answered the phone was nice. Picked up our order and went on our way. Unfortunately, the meat was lackluster, it needed seasoning. If your seasoning is the BBQ sauce, I suggest you include it in your take-out orders. I was very disappointed.

Yelp
Went to an event in the area. Had to wait for a seat but wasn't crazy. The service was a bit slow....but the food was very very good. Worth a trip!

Yelp
I must say the disappointment of them being out of brisket was accurate. Decided to come back and boy am I happy that I did! The brisket is top notch. Almost as good as what I've had in Texas. Everything was good but the brisket was almost worth the wait!!
google avatar

Sandra C.

Yelp
I was looking for some unique and incredible food places. I stumbled upon this one! If you love Texas BBQ then this is the spot for YOU! I ABSOLUTELY loved the ambiance from the signs down to the "Wanted" poster in the bathroom. Our server was incredible and has some great recommendations. I cannot wait to come back here again! They have takeout here as well.

Yelp
Had an ok experience at this restaurant. Truly a little disappointed that when we arrived and sat down at about 5 PM, the restaurant ran out of pork belly, which was the reason why my friends and I drove nearly 2 hours to get to this place in this nice little town and they ran out of Valley, which devastated me and was truly upset. Being a top sell item i I thought that they should've had a little more of their best sellers available. Truly upset and devastated that they ran out and that was the main reason why we took the long drive to the restaurant. Ultimately substitute the pork belly for something else which was OK definitely had a good time. Our waitress by the name of Ericka was very accommodating and very nice. It was just devastating to hear her say that they ran out of pork belly and nachos. It's kind of hard to determine the best time to arrive to the place to make sure that you are able to order anything off the menu with it being a Saturday night. Thought they would've had enough available for the customer. Ultimately, the atmosphere was very nice. It was very steady and we were taken care of. Totally debating if we should take that drive back to this restaurant because I truly want to try the pork belly. If you are in the area, make sure you call to make sure that everything on the menu is still available. Hoodoo, we will decide if we will make that trip back overall thank you for a great experience.

Yelp
Prob one of the only places in the area deserving of a four star review. This holds for world wide as well. A stellar tried and true bbq. Ribs and brisket are best in the biz and would put up against any nyc or southern bbq. Doesn't stop there. Sausage, pork belly (cross between crispy Chinese bbq and Mexican chicharone bbq), and Brussels (ya I know we are all tired of Brussels sprouts but just trust). My last remarks are to plead plead plead with management to figure out their service program. No reservations for this place aside from big room is a crime. Teenagers running FOH saying waits are hour + when they are really 30. Servers promising last desserts then losing track of quantities. Take out orders not completed...please please be more attentive. And please everyone get the bread puddings...Lordy!

Yelp
I'm embarrassed at how long it took me to visit Hoodoo Brown. I live an hour away, but I've been aware of HB's reputation as an outstanding CT BBQ spot for years. As I returned from a trip to the Hudson Valley, I saw the perfect opportunity to visit. I can see why HB has a vocal following. After circling a few times to park, the first thing I noticed was the impressive smoking operation right out front. A lot of towns seem unwilling to allow the presence of visible meat smoking, HB is lucky in that regard. The inside was cool and had appropriate decor for a high end BBQ joint. Service was very friendly. I was hoping they had some platters that would allow for sampling a number of different things for a set price, but the menu was mostly a la carte in that regard. I ordered a 1/2 pound of brisket, a 1/2 pound of Cracklin Pork Belly, a side of Interstellar potatoes, and a side of Apple Vinegar Slaw. I haven't had better brisket in CT. It had phenomenal texture. Not at all dry. HB didn't have to resort to any tricks to keep it moist. The liquified fat did that. Perfect bark. Flavorful rub. Huge strips that were a good mix of lean and fat. The brisket was awesome and I can't see visiting HB without ordering it. I respect the Cracklin Pork Belly, and it's so unique, I imagine it has some big fans. There's a soft easy to chew pork belly component. And a chewable hard candy-like pork skin component. I have not had this style before and the fact that HB was able to execute in this manner is impressive. However, I didn't completely connect with HB's version and I prefer pork belly I've had at at least one other CT spot. The Interstellar potatoes are a top tier CT BBQ side. I didn't catch the whole story, but they were something like au gratin potatoes and the potatoes may have been smoked in some way. A delicious side I haven't seen at other BBQ places. The slaw was well executed, but I could take or leave it. I prefer the slaw style of other places and I would try something else next time I visited. I'm glad I finally made it to Hoodoo Brown. I loved 1/2 of my order. I respect what HB did with the other half, but I'd prefer to explore more of the menu rather than order those things again. 4.5 Stars

Yelp
Go-to BBQ in the area! At Hoodoo Brown, they truly put their heart and soul into their food. That's likely what landed them on the Cooking Channel! I recommend going with a group and trying one of their platters so you are able to sample a little bit of everything. It's a casual eatery, and for obvious reasons I wouldn't recommend wearing white My favorite items on the menu are the Hogzilla sandwich, and their Mac and cheese. The sandwich is absolutely massive, and for someone who can eat, I usually end up with leftovers to take home. If you're going in the evening on the weekend, be prepared for a bit of a wait. If you plan on having a late dinner, just keep in mind they do tend to run out of their most popular items. It's not very common to find barbecue like this in the Northeast, but if you're willing to give it a try, it certainly will not disappoint!
google avatar

Alan D.

Yelp
I'm from the Carolinas and have eaten BBQ all over the south and in Texas for 40+ years. I had the Hogzilla but replaced the pork with Bristket and this absolutely was the best brisket sandwich IVE EVER HAD. Lol. Man was it delicious. The mustard seed and sweet bbq table sauces are also excellent.

Yelp
Lucid was terrific. Ate at the bar again. Bisquet sandwich and fries. Great place and very reasonable. Big drink selection.

Yelp
Do yourself a favor and eat Hoodoo Brown BBQ!! We have only eaten through their takeout section located outside of the restaurant, so I'll speak from that perspective. Wonderful and quick service (when you call ahead or order online). The guys at the window are friendly and knowledgeable. I've called and got great recommendations on different food pairings. The brisket is top tier! Juicy, favorable, delicious. The seasoned fries are so so good and crispy. Their sauces are also delicious. The mac and cheese is packed with flavor!

Kyle P.

Yelp
Brisket was succulent and the sauce is very good. Connecticut is not known for bbq, hoodoo brown is aiming to change that.

Yelp
In 2015 my friend and I discovered Hoodoo brown out in Ridgefield. So we saddled up and got ready to get us some Texas BBQ. When we arrived we were seated relatively quickly since it was lunch and the place was new. The staff was friendly and we got our food in a decent amount of time. The sides ranged from good to a bit disappointing; the Mac and cheese was the best but the corn bread was a little dry. However, the meats were on another level of excellent! We ordered pulled pork, brisket, ribs, and pork belly; all good but that pork belly and brisket were just ridiculous. All that to say we've been going to hoodoo for years and there have been some changes since those early days. For instance it's way more busy than it used to be, if you go for dinner you may be waiting for an hour or two plus. They occasionally will run out of certain meats (pork belly) at certain times of day, which can be frustrating especially if you've been waiting for a long time or drove far to get there. The inside of the restaurant is often bustling at night so if you want a more laid back environment shoot for an early dinner or lunch. The service has always been good, we've never had a bad experience with any of the staff. They've also increased their appetitizer selection. Their wings were excellent and the Texas poutine with the brisket was super delicious! I really recommend the pork belly, brisket, and pulled pork; can't go wrong with any of them! The fact that they've been so consistent with the quality of their food for almost a decade should cause you to give them a try if you're in the area. So, if you're fixin to get some BBQ, you can't go wrong with Hoodoo!
google avatar

Claudio C.

Yelp
The food was phenomenal! I don't think there was a wrong item on the menu. The beef ribs were divine! The hidden gem for me was the grilled cheese brisket. This place is hopping; it's very busy, so you will wait for a bit! But all good things come to those who wait! The ambiance is lovely, family-style.
google avatar

Xenia M.

Yelp
I wanted to really like Hoodoo Brown BBQ but the food missed the mark for us. I ordered the brisket poutine which was probably the first mistake. (Canada will always make the best poutine! ) when I received my meal, the fries were cold, the cheese curds were barely melted, and the brisket was under seasoned. The bbq sauce helped a little. My husband on the other hand really enjoyed his brisket grilled cheese sandwich.

Yelp
Ok. So I smoke a lot of meats. I have a 750lb yoder smoker at home, and while most people spend free time watching sports, or going to concerts, I smoke meats. My standards are high, and this review should not keep you from trying this place, as it may still be good for you. Plenty of folks have said to try this place. I found myself in the area yesterday, and gave the sampler platter a go. It had ribs, brisket, bacon, sausage, corn bread, and I ordered wings. The folks there do a great job smoking. The meats come out soft as they should. Brisket breaks apart in your hand and the ribs are tender. The chicken wings are done well. Why am I taking off two stars? Flavor! The brisket and ribs had no flavor. The brisket had what looked like a bark, as well as the ribs, but I didn't taste anything. When I smoke at home, the flavor of the rub is caught in every bite. I ended up throwing my own rub on both the brisket and ribs when I got home. The lack of seasoning may be good for some, but me, my pallet needs to taste something. And then, the bacon. No smoke flavor whatsoever. It felt like just plain old pork belly. Didn't get a hint of salt or sugar. As someone who smokes 20lbs of bacon at a time, I have very high expectations here, and it fell short. The cornbread was dry. I do believe if you put some butter on it, it will solve that problem. The flavor was great, but so dry. The chicken wings and sausage were awesome. The beans and Mac and cheese were really good. I do plan on returning, and this time giving the pulled pork a go and something else from the menu. Hoping this was just one off for me (and judging by what others are saying, it seems it was).
google avatar

M.C. F.

Yelp
I traveled a bit further out of my way (@90 minutes) to try Hoodoo, I liked it a lot. The smoked Prime Rib was fantastic, the crackle was great, the ribs were good, although I thought the brisket was a bit dry. The service was exceptional, the whole staff worked together as one unit! I'll be back

Yelp
Had to wait a bit but knew that coming to the place for the first time, had heard there would be some wait time. Their nachos are great and bbq is even better!

Yelp
Reallt great BBQ experience. Went on a Friday around 7:30 and they were already out of a few things that were wanted; bacon and beef ribs. Nachos is always a must to order. The sauces are very good too. I think they can spend a little more time perfecting their sides, they are a bit blah. Also their drink menu can use a revamp. That being said, I typically always enjoy my meal and leave way too stuffed.

O T.

Yelp
Didn't make it to the food today Been a customer for many years. Three years ago moved around the corner. Usually do take out. Large take out orders. Because the place usually IS packed - except at certain hours. Today I just wanted a sandwich and a beer for late lunch - during their slow time. Dining Room was basically empty just after 1:30 on a Friday afternoon except for the bar - not surprising given the hour and the day Asked where I wanted to sit I responded a high top at the bar if there were any free. I was told they were ... but unfortunately they were not. Such is life. Since the Bar tables were full I went to sit at a 4 top in the dining room by the window ... in the basically empty dining room ... and was advised that I could not sit there ... that I had to sit at a two top in the middle of the room .... in a basically empty dining room ... because they were expecting to get busy. ... tonight Actually, I did not have to sit anywhere. I left. Food is usually great - Service hit and miss ... ... but today, service was a business killer -- Lord knows when or if I will be back

Yelp
On a Sunday night football, it's so great to be able to hear the game and to root for my team, not JUST to see it!!! Love this place. Food is always plentiful! The only downfall is that the food comes out room temperature or cooler. The setting is very relaxed and the room Vibe is very relaxed and yet very crowded on the weekends. For two people around 4:30 or so it's very easy to get a seat at the bar and or in the back room.

Yelp
First time here. Have wanted to try Hoodoo's for awhile so excited to finally go. Friday night and was seated right away. Forgot servers name but she was pleasant. Explained to us "first timers" the menu. We ordered every app they had except the jar of bacon which they were out of Wings: excellent!! That hint of smokiness was just enough to make these arguably top 3 in the area. And they were not dry! Nachos: had them with the pork and again a winner. Not skimpy with the toppings and put together correctly Brussels were also a winner. Poutine was average but still flavor-flavorsble. Did not order any of the individual meats but did have the Brisket grillled cheese and it was as delicious as it sounds. Mac and cheese also was very good! Here are 2 small things I would suggest to the owners 1. Corn bread. While good, it needs to be served with a little butter or hot honey on the side. It can be dry and needs just a little spread or dipping side 2. Fried Green Tomatoes. The only disappointment here. The idea of frying green tomatoes is to get that "tang" of the tomato's along with the breading. They cut the tomatoes SO thin, all your eating is breading. Please cut the tomatoes thicker. We will be returning!

Yelp
Keeping it short and simple, 5 out of 5. Not even exaggerating. The restaurant seemed small outside, but was actually big with a friendly atmosphere. The service was great - ordered an appetizer and received it in less than 5 minutes. The same went with the entrees, received them so quick. The portions were huge, didn't think the appetizer would be that big. Great for the price! We ordered the nachos for appetizer and for entree, the brisket, the house special sausages, Mac and cheese, and grilled cheese with brisket. To our dismay, the server told us that the grilled cheese with brisket was a limited time menu item. This is our only complaint - NEEDS TO BE A STAPLE ON MENU STAT!!! Great bbq food though, one of the best restaurants we've been to! -Cris and Kyle

Yelp
I'm not one who likes undercooked pork. Even though it's ok to eat pork at is 145 degrees, it's not ok for me. Appearance counts for something and red raw looking pork as well as the texture of pork cooked to 145 degrees, forget about it. Everyone cannot cook BBQ. I simply brought mine home and added my spices and baked it a bit longer and they were ok.

Yelp
If you're looking for some of the best barbecue in CT, look no further! Hoodoo Brown's is seriously amazing! Here's the scoop: There's a front and rear parking lot but both are small. They don't take reservations unless you have a party of ten or more, and you can't call ahead. And this place gets BUSY. If you're going on a weekend night, I'd recommend getting there before 5:30PM to beat the dinner rush. I recently went on a Saturday night and arrived around 5:15PM. Although busy, there was no wait for a table and I was seated promptly. To drink I ordered the Sweet Peach Iced Tea, which was very good. For an appetizer, I ordered the BBQ Nachos. Now I'm not joking when I say these were literally the best nachos I've ever had! They come with your choice of brisket or pulled pork (I chose pulled pork), topped with beans, jalapeños, guacamole, sour cream, and their signature cheese sauce. Unlike most other restaurants, they use cheese sauce instead of shredded cheese, and it's absolutely delicious! There was a slightly sweet taste to the nachos, and I'm not sure if it was due to the beans or the cheese sauce, but whatever it was, it added to the deliciousness. I also liked how they didn't give you an excessive pile of chips. It was just the right amount so you got some of the toppings with every bite. For my meal, I ordered the Half-Rack of BBQ Pork Spare Ribs. These were EXCELLENT! They smoke their meats for up to 24-hours, and these ribs literally fell right off the bone. The BBQ sauce (there's a bottle on every table that you can add) was awesome, and added amazing flavor. I also liked that it wasn't spicy at all (some restaurants have barbecue sauce that's on the spicier side, which I'm not a fan of). Keep in mind that these are full spare ribs, not baby back, so even a half-rack is a lot of meat! I also got a side of cornbread, which was very good. For dessert, I ordered the Fried Oreos, which came with three deep-fried Oreos and vanilla ice cream. These were also excellent! The waitress was super attentive and efficient. The ambiance is nothing special, just what you'd expect from your typical BBQ joint. Overall some of the best barbecue I've had in a while!

Yelp
When they're good, they're good. But more than occasionally, they aren't. It's annoying because you never know what you're going to get. If they serve you from the middle of the brisket, it's nice and tender & juicy. But more than occasionally they will give you edges or parts which are dry and overcooked. I almost want to be there when they are cutting up a portion for me.

Yelp
Hoodoo brown : basic BBQ. We have tried the pork ribs , pulled pork and brisket. Brisket was really good. Nice smoke and perfect texture. Sides we tried were greens, Mac and cheese and slaw: slaw was good . I would say the greens were lacking flavor. We have gone three times and had consistently good bbq.

Yelp
Ordered 1/2 rack and fries to share - food arrived within 3-5 minutes. No big deal for the ribs but fries were not fresh. Found a hair in my fries. they took the fries off the bill. Hair is tough for me, so won't be back. I

Yelp
BBQ always makes me happy; and HooDoo Brown lived up to their reputation. Not only did I leave with a smile, but with a belly full of BBQ Goodness. We ordered the Hogzilla with collard greens and the Crackling Pork Belly with corn on the cob. Totally recommend both dishes. Yum! I loved waking up to the restaurant and seeing the smokers and grills in the front; it's like their very own welcoming committee.

Yelp
Pre ordered a Beef rib with a massive order earlier in the day. Went to pick up on time and they had no beef ribs at 6:15. That's all we really wanted. Drove 30 mins for a beef rib. Better learn how to count in the kitchen. Pork ribs weren't seasoned. Mac was tasteless. Sausage was dried out. Sauce was decent. Slaw was good. Quite disappointed. Not what it used to be. Won't be coming back.

Yelp
Great place for barbecue, and while parking and seating is a challenge, the wait is usually 20-30 min for each and we've never waited mor than 1hr. Sorry but you need to be there they don't take reservations, but will accept take out orders which is a good compromise.

Yelp
Kyleigh and Sam are the best waitstaff/bartender combo! We started with Sam for I'm your huckleberry lemonades then Kyleigh took care of us for lunch. The food was amazing as always and our visit was better because of the awesome staff members.

Yelp
Limited parking, no wait for a table at 4:45pm, even though resturant got full at around 5pm. The brisket sandwich was good, the poutine fries were salty but were greatly improved by the sauces on the table. Corn bread was solid. Interstellar potatoes were okay- they tasted earthy like the potatoes needed to be scrubbed clean better. The service was pretty good and the ambience is decent. Don't think I'll come back (I'm not the biggest BBQ person) as I didn't think it was crazy special. Oh my friend loved her rib! Portions are commiserate with price.

Yelp
So again my wife and two great friends decided to drive 2 1/2 hours to go back to a fabulous barbecue restaurant. We were hoping it wasn't a fluke last time but again the food and atmosphere was amazing. We got beef ribs to die for. The brisket was delicious everything we had was amazing and believe me we ordered a lot and even got takeout out. I have family in Texas and go to a lot of barbecue places but this restaurant takes the cake Totally worth the drive and money. It's a must see . One more thing. If there's a line to get in, you need to wait. It's worth it

Yelp
We've been many times and it has been great every time. My first time ordering ribs, I thought would be like the small spare ribs, but no, it filled up an entire tray. I could only eat one, my friend ate 2 and we split the remaining leftovers. Lesson learned, but it was delicious.

Yelp
Get here early because the seats and parking spots fill up quick! Naked smoked wings and crunchy fried green tomatoes started this meal off on the right foot. Service was quick. We were halfway through our apps when we ordered our meals and our meals were on the table before we finished. Lots of beer choices put a smile on our friend's face. I enjoyed a tasty Sangria although the fruit was a little odd...a single maraschino cherry and a jarred peach slice. My husband ordered the smoked chicken half with collard greens and sweet potato fries. I split the smoked turkey and brisket with our friend. We both got the Mac N Cheese and he got the corn. Our son got the chicken and waffle. The Bourbon Banana Cream Pie was the perfect thing to end our meal. The staff was attentive and polite. Everything that we tried was great. The portion sizes are decent for the prices. The small sides are perfect for one. Plan on sharing if you order the large. Unfortunately , they were out of a few things on the menu. I came here excited and expecting to try a Bloody Mary. They offer two and I couldn't try either because they were out of the mix. There are a few things that we would like to go back to try. Hopefully I'll be able to get my Bloody Mary next time.

Yelp
Funky and homey atmosphere. Tight Quarters on a busy day, but still worth it. The Boss and I pulled up a stool, a sip of sunshine, and then browsed the menu. Settled in on the pictured plate of 1/2lb of Crackling Pork Belly, 2 Hunks of delicious maple corn bread, and some beans. Pork Belly was downright transformative. Crisp, crackled, stiff outside, when squeezed, moist, perfect pork spills out like crushing a PB&J. Corn bread was crumbly, yet moist, with a hint of nutmeg or maple that just gave it almost a gingerbread feel. Outstanding food, quick attentive service, great atmosphere. 5 stars.

Yelp
Not very good at all. Not everyone's taste is the same but take my wife's and my advice, you can find much better BBQ. Hoodoo came highly recommended so we gave it a try and we were very disappointed!! The brisket was dry. The baked beans were dry and not very flavorful. My wife hated the potato salad. The greens were ok but just barely. The cornbread and tea was good however.
