A North Downtown favorite for from-scratch tacos, masa, and agave-forward cocktails. Spotlighted by Visit Omaha’s Now Serving series for its chef-led approach and lively patio near the ballpark.

I really enjoyed my experience at Hook and Lime! I thought my vegetarian Impossible & Potato empanadas were delicious. I thought there were a couple of good vegetarian options - that I’d love to come back again and try out! I would say my crispy sweet potato tacos were okay. I liked the idea…but the texture and flavor perhaps could be improved. I think my fellow table mates generally enjoyed their meal. Somewhat Americanized for their taste. But I enjoyed the flavors of my dishes!! Worth trying out!

We visited on 5/25/25 before we went over to the Big 10 Championship baseball game where Nebraska was playing UCLA. Service was incredibly SLOW!! I get it that they’re close to the stadium, but hire more help for these days or get food out more quickly. We were there about 90 minutes total. The prices are really expensive for the quality of food you get. I travel often and live in San Antonio and the food quality did not match the price. It was bland. I’ve found a similar trend with other Mexican restaurants like this…trying to be fancy but really mess up the food and make it tasteless. The chips are thick and I prefer a lighter chip. Plus the tortilla was cold and needed to be cooked/warmed up. Give me a good hole in the wall Mexican restaurant with authentic food with flavor, not this. I would not come back here again. I’m kind of shocked it has such high reviews.

My mom, fiancé and I came in yesterday morning for the first time and we really enjoyed our visit here. Our server Pono B was attentive, friendly, over all by far the best service we’ve had in a long time. The staff was friendly they all made frequent stops to our table. The food was fresh, my drink was on point, their 3 homemade salsas hit every note. Over all delicious! We will come back and we highly recommend.

Google
I would give Hook and Lime 10 stars if I could. Not only are the food and drinks phenomenal, but also the staff. They are so friendly and accommodating. They helped us get through a meltdown our toddler was having. Beyond all that, the restaurant is extremely clean and well kept. The seared tuna is our favorite. The homemade sauces are packed with flavor. Drinks are strong. We love this place and will recommend it to everyone moving forward.

Google
The service here was absolutely awesome — friendly, attentive, and fast, even on a busy day. The food matched the service in quality — everything we tried was fantastic. The fish tacos were a standout (especially impressive for Omaha, where fresh seafood isn’t exactly the claim to fame). And I couldn’t resist the churro — it was too good to pass up. Overall, Hook & Lime Cantina delivered a great dining experience from start to finish. Highly recommend!

Came here before a concert and dined outside. Food was great along with the atmosphere. Service was amazing. Very quick and efficient on a busy night. We will be coming back!

Google
Really cute restaurant that we tried on our way through town. Our server was knowledgable on allergy accommodations. We tried a variety of tacos, all great. Interestingly, I thought the two vegan ones were tried were the most flavorful and I would order those as a full meal any time.

Google
Unbelievably good food! Highly recommend! Garrett was really helpful with the menu and drink choices. Try the Blackberry and Lemon margarita! You won’t be disappointed!

Yelp
I have been here twice & nothing but good things to say! Great happy hour deals! We had the salsa flight tonight and absolutely loved, their pineapple salsa was delicious! The shrimp & Al Pastor tacos and those were also really good. Our server, Steve was wonderful! Super friendly and had great recommendations. I always love the vibe in there too, cute decor and love all the windows. We will be coming back :)

Yelp
I met with friends before going to a concert at Slowdown. It is the perfect location for that. I got the El Capitan bowl. The grilled shrimp were really special. I really liked it but...it felt like it didn't have as much flavor overall as I had expected. I did not perceive any pickled onions so maybe if it had been made as described on the menu it would have been more interesting. There were 3 of us; one of us got the guacamole to eat as dinner so we all shared. That worked well because the guacamole and chips are really, really good and more substantial than at other places. The $10.50 cost would be a little daunting if dining alone. But they are great for sharing. It is a very generous size. Their guacamole - I don't know if there are a lot of things in it other than the avocados. But wow, they are obviously getting THE BEST avocados. They have a trio of house hot sauces that were good and I am especially intrigued with the really dark one. Super unique. We got the ginger limeade to drink, which is fabulous. It has a sugared rim and it made us think how good it would be with salt instead. THIS is the thought that really makes me want to return. The food was all good, the cost of the sandwiches and rice bowls make them a good value. Honestly though - I didn't really even look at the whole menu, even though it's just a large page. It was really hard for me to read it so I picked one of the first things I looked at. That's not good, and it's a big enough problem that it decreases my desire to return.

Yelp
I can't believe I haven't updated my review after returning to hook and lime at least a handful of times! We've made this our family go to spot when guests are visting for the series, or for the holidays. My last few visits have been tremendously better! I've had a variety of tacos, plates, and desserts. The chips and salsa trio is fantastic, and their breakfast tacos were so good. Now that I know the way things roll, it's made the last few visits much more enjoyable. Everyone working is so friendly, and accommodating. They have a great variety of tequilas, and cocktails. This is definitely a must-stop spot downtown.

Yelp
Great food and atmosphere! Service was also top notch. Highly recommend this place !

Yelp
Another awesome visit! The employees are fun to chat with and attentive. The food has been exceptional every time I visit! The chips and guacamole- yum! Homemade chips are the bomb and the bowl is FULL. Don't miss the pineapple salsa, and guacamole with your chips. I had two single tacos... Overnight Brisket was my favorite! They have a seasoning on the table - sprinkle it on everything especially the chips! I hope they start selling it - I ask everytime I go hahaha I love it! I ended with a chocolate pie, the crust was crunchy and added a great texture to every bite of the chocolate moose like pie.

Yelp
I've come here since I was in college and this place is great. If you come here you must get the chips, all of there dips and even the hot sauces are good, so you can't go wrong. The margaritas are also so very good. You can't go wrong. I also love that there's parking in the back! There's always street parking, but a good place near downtown with a free parking lot, it's the best.

Yelp
Food and margaritas are delicious!! I would recommend the chicken enchiladas and the cilantro lime margarita, and chips and salsa

William B.

Yelp
Great food and great service! They have a small menu and execute it well. I had the Quesabirria tacos. They were on point.

Yelp
Went during the weekend of the College World Series games, the tacos, service, and ambiance was amazing. I got birria tacos and my boyfriend had beef tacos, super delicious.

Yelp
This place is amazing! Great tasty food! With vegan options. The service and atmosphere was awesome too! The vegan cheesecake is to die for!

Yelp
We were invited to Yelp event to try out this restaurant. The service was on point. First we tried the house margarita which was paired with a flight of dips. I was very impressed with the flavors of the salsas, all different and all fresh. The mango salsa was a favorite as was the guac. The chips seemed to be a little hard which I was not fond of, but that is a personal preference. All of the margaritas were fresh maid (hand squeezed juice, house made syrups and well crafted). You can tell if a margarita was made with a mix. These were near perfection. The Blackberry & Lemon margarita was nice and not so overly sweet. The Jalapeño Grapefruit was delicious and had the right amount of heat. Next, they brought out an ample sample of ceviche. It was delicous! Following that, the chef brought out barbacoa on the bone (which it's rumored they will be adding to groups to order). The barbacoa literally fell of the bone. Impressive. It was very flavorful and was part of our next taste: barbacoa tacos. Simply amazing and tender. It was paired with a reposado which was very smooth with a slight hint of vanilla. The final course was desert. They served us up a bowl of arros con leche (rice and mango). It was very satisfying. They paired it with an anjeo, which again was very smooth with a little smoke. The overall experience was excellent and we will be back!

Yelp
The margs were so good I didn't even snap a picture. They make their margs from juice squeezed in house which makes them the best in town. The variety of margs is also a huge win. I tried the original (staple) and the pineapple mezcalita. I am a Mezcal girlie and I loved it. Definitely lighter on the smoky side but really balanced with the pineapple. The chips and guac were a hit for the table. Their chips are so crunchy and sturdy enough to handle the guac. This might just be the next happy hour spot!!!!

Yelp
The best place in Omaha to drink, eat and have a good time. Tacos presentation and flavor are the best, please try ceviche and Birria tacos. The ambiance is great and service is excellent. Congratulations Hook and Lime, your food is the best in Nebraska and thank you for have vegan and vegetarian options. Thank you.

Yelp
My friends and I went to lunch at Hook and lime and had Steven as our server and he was absolutely phenomenal. He knew everything about the menu and was super personable. The margaritas are well worth it the ounce and a half does not lie. The food was exceptional super fresh super yummy overall very good vibes and for being a Mexican restaurant. They even played R&B which was such a fun twist we had an excellent time we will definitely be going again and I do recommend Steven as your server!!

Yelp
Sitting at the bar for drinks AND dinner is great. Service is fast and friendly. Food is delicious. Chips ans trio so good and spicy. Caesars salad with shredded chicken so yummy. A definite Mexican restaurant to have on your regular list!!

Yelp
I loved going here before going to an event at the Slowdown. Love the atmosphere! My favorites were the cod and tuna tacos! My server was also very friendly and attentive. Definitely will come back!

Yelp
My family and I really enjoyed our experience here. We got the salsa trio and we all loved a different choice. We also tried the guacamole which was delicious. My kids had excellent chicken and cheese quesadillas. My husband got the taco trio and really loved each choice. I got the Birria Tacos with consommé. I liked them, but feel like there could've been a little bit more cheese and flavor. The margaritas were also nice and strong. Churros were just okay. Service was excellent. Overall enjoyed our experience and would return.

Yelp
Stopped for a quick late meal. Service and food were both excellent and outdoor seating was a great option.
google avatar

Chris B.

Yelp
The food was amazing the owner was very knowledgeable about the tequilas he served. Steve the bartender was very polite and helpful. I believe the chef Erica is from Mexico and put her heart and soul into the food. The atmosphere is date night but not over fancy. You could stop in have a few drinks and apps then catch a Creighton game and not feel under dressed
google avatar

Sue T.

Yelp
Their signature margaritas are excellent, made with freshly squeezed lime, a nice selection of salsa; including traditional red, and pineapple salsa. The guacamole and ceviche are terrific! We tried Barbacoa tacos, and everything was tasty. The chef came out to meet customers, and she discussed cooking techniques. Staff were outgoing, friendly, and quick! We will definitely be coming back for dinner and also for their happy hour!

Yelp
Drinks | Vibes | Pulled Chicken Rice Bowl Drinks - They have a great selection of drinks in the tequila/mezcal realms. I had the Mezcal old fashion, which was a solid drink. It was not OMG status. But I would happily get it again. But, if I went back, I would explore their many margarita options. Vibes - We went on a Saturday at 5 pm with another couple. By the time it was 6 pm, it was packed and had a 20-minute wait with all of the inside and outside seating full. So, it is a popular spot. It is a great spot to bring friends and start or end your night. We had a spectrum of people, from dates to girls' nights out, to teenagers vibing after a soccer game. Pulled Chicken Rice Bowl - I had the Chicken Torta but remixed it and put it in a Rice Bowl for a $2 upcharge. It was well worth the upcharge. I really enjoyed the flavors and combination of rice, salad, tomato, and avocado. Overall the meal had great balance and taste. It was very filling, and I would put it in the wow category. Next time I go - I will definitely get this again. Pro Tip: They have street parking in front and behind the restaurant. Therefore, you don't need to add much time to your travel when planning to go there. Pro Tip: Make a reservation if you go during peak brunch or dinner hours on the weekends. It will be packed because it is in one of the more popular areas in the city.

Yelp
A great gem if you want some amazing tacos that are authentic. Food came out quickly and delicious. Just be prepared for the lack of quality service. Our server was great at first, she recommended great selections and then disappeared. All other tables were being served except ours. My mom ordered some sparking water, that never came, I finished my water at the beginning of the meal and she never came back to check on us nor, fill our water. Other tables got amazing services, we did not. We finished up our meals, had to ask another server to get our original server. Unfortunately, the terrible server overshadowed the amazing meal.. I recommend people give this a try but don't expect good service.. think if it like the episode from Seinfeld with the soup.. it's great food but if you come for the service, try somewhere else,

Yelp
Great cocktails made from fresh squeezed juices. Incredibly friendly staff. Sat at the bar and had a great time. Food looked and smelled great but only had drinks. The Archer was the most amazing margarita I have had in a very long time!
google avatar

Cassidy J.

Yelp
Hook and Lime was delicious! Everything I had last night was great. My husband agreed. I had the chicken enchiladas which came with a side of beans and rice and it was great. My husband got the three seafood tacos and he said the tuna was surprisingly his favorite. Margs were delicious. Apps were delicious. Great quick service. Cute place! I will absolutely be back!

Yelp
Awesome spot downtown for Mexican food! One of our go-tos in the area, especially during the College World Series!
google avatar

Yelp
For a city not known for its Mexican food, Hook and Lime is a diamond in the rough. Their margaritas are fresh, flavorful, and just the right balance of sweet and tangy. The nachos were a standout, loaded with delicious toppings and perfectly crispy chips. The service was top-notch too--friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home. Highly recommend for a fantastic meal and great vibes in Omaha!

Yelp
Incredible! You can tell the owner and chef have a passion for bringing you unique and authentic food. The blanco tequila is not for the faint of heart, but if you like a smokey vanilla flavor, try their anejo. You must have the ceviche if you come here! The location is awesome! Right next to The Slowdown. Can't wait to go back.
google avatar

Kristeena J.

Yelp
I loved this place. Sat out on the patio on a lovely day. The margaritas were excellent, not too sweet. We had the elote fritters and they were awesome!! Also had a few tacos that were good, not great. Would definitely return
google avatar

Jake P.

Yelp
We had a double date here. The other couple hyped it up and then we didn't have the best experience. We ordered a queso, which just had a lot of vegetables in it. . . when the queso was dropped off we asked the server if it was the correct dish. We didn't end up finishing it. The tacos were okay. We didn't find them to be anything to write home about. Service was a bit slow, but it was a Sunday afternoon so that makes sense.
google avatar

Tami F.

Yelp
Hooked! I had the salsa trio, elote fritters, brisket tacos, and chorizo-potato tacos. We also had top shelf margs and pineapple tequila shots...all delicious! Emphasis on the brisket tacos! I don't live in Omaha but I plan to go back to Hook and Lime when I visit again!
google avatar

Nel P.

Yelp
A nice spot near the baseball stadium with very attentive staff. I really wanted to like this place but the food was just OK for my taste. We'll definitely comeback and try the other items on their menu.
google avatar

Andre S.

Yelp
Did inflation affect the price of these tacos? Where is the shrimp? Where is the lobster? The filling in the wrap seemed to be ground-up tuna. These tacos were priced at over $14.00 and they appear quite disappointing. The ratings shouldn't be this high.
google avatar

Andy C.

Yelp
This place is worth the stop. From scratch kitchen and bar. Which means the margaritas and Paloma's are the real deal! Yes get yourself a Paloma! The real Mexican drink of choice (go to Mexico as find out). Had the taco trio and the queso. Know going in that this queso is thicker cheese with chorizo and black beans served in a cast iron dish. The tacos were fantastic, the tuna being the best, but the chorizo and potato and brisket tacos tasty. Comes with rice and black beans which were really good. Service was good sitting at the bar and the other servers friendly as well. Give it a go!
google avatar

Yelp
This place deserves more than five stars! we came in on a very busy night on Cinco de Mayo! The ambiance was upbeat and there was natural sunlight pouring into the restaurant through the large windows. A very fun and relaxing atmosphere. Our waiter was friendly and gave a lot of great recommendations. We ordered the guacamole as an appetizer and it was extremely fresh and flavorful! I got the cilantro lime margarita with jalapeños added for an extra kick and my husband got the Pilsner. We split the Hook & Lime salad which you can't miss!!! Trust me, even if you don't like salads, this one has crunchy tortilla strips, creamy avocado, and a lime dressing that will delight your tastebuds! We also got the birria with consumme and the meat was very well prepared and seasoned. Also added a sweet potato taco and it was delicious. Don't miss the homemade hot sauces!

Yelp
Amazing selection of tequila, great tacos including the beer battered cod and smoked fable. Home made grauc and chips. Spot hit on all fronts
google avatar

Joanna K.

Yelp
Great food, staff and ambience. I was impressed by Famble (hope that's the spelling) taco. Made with shitake mushrooms but tasted like meat. Amazing experience and will return.
google avatar

Michael S.

Yelp
Great place. The staff was super friendly. I had five of their tacos. The al pastor was my favorite. The shrimp one was a little on the dry side. The other 3 (chicken, brisket, and chorizo) were all very good. I really enjoyed the black beans and Mexican rice.
google avatar

Yelp
Hook and Lime is located near the Charles Schwab baseball stadium, off of 14th Street in downtown Omaha. Parking can be found along the street for 1 dollar per hour. It's a trendy style restaurant that offers patio seating and indoor dining. Service was very good throughout the experience. I ordered the Chicken Enchiladas with rice and beans (which comes separate from the entree). The food is more of a Tex-Mex style and there is a minor wait time for your food, especially when the restaurant is crowded. Overall, its a fun place to meet up with friends and have a social platform while enjoying the ambiance.

Yelp
Starting this review by prefacing 3 stars is solely for the food. Not impressed. Not authentic. My review for the service? 5 stars, easy. We sat at the bar and had such a great time with the bartender Autumn. She was personable & helpful. The drinks as well as her service are enough reason to come back. This is a great before dinner stop. They have happy hour- even all day Sunday! It's right by the baseball field so also a great stop on your way to a game. Margaritas hit the spot, the food did not. Don't come with high expectations and you'll be set. Try the lemon lavender marg (recommended by Autumn). I will say the chips and guacamole were a hit, a great addition to the margaritas! We had our hearts and taste buds set on the elote corn fritters. After ordering we found out they were out. Bummed but maybe for next time?! There were 4 of us in our party, we all ordered different tacos and none of them were raved about. I would skip the tacos next time and stick with snacks/drinks. I had the seared tuna taco & overnight brisket. The tuna taco really lacked and barely had any flavor. Brisket was dry and just sad. The menu mentions homemade tortillas. Very underwhelming and not good. I ended up picking at my tacos and not eating the tortillas because they were that disappointing. I tried a bite of my friends chile grilled shrimp taco- probably the best one. Shrimp tasted good but the rest of the taco also lacked. Not a completely bad experience but with so much food competition in Omaha we expected a bit more! Pro tip- they infuse their own tequila. Get the pineapple in a marg or as a shot. It was sooo good and smooth. No pouty faces- unusual when taking shots right?!
google avatar

Stephanie L.

Yelp
Lemon and lavender margarita is soooo good and the bartender was great. This is not going to be your traditional Mexican food but still good nonetheless. Recommend going before a show at the slowdown next door
google avatar

Yelp
Over a couple days of visiting and stopping by Hook and Lime, we will be coming back!

Barbi B.

Yelp
I had a nice dinner here with a friend out on the patio. The high top table out there was a little small but it didn't end up being an issue for us. The margarita was good. I really liked the 3-taco special, because you could pick any combo of taco although the birria and lobster tacos were separate and more expensive which is reasonable. I liked that they had a lot of vegan and vegetarian options. I went with one brisket taco, one sweet potato, and one cod. The brisket was just okay, not super tender. The sweet potato was more crispy fried breading than sweet potato, but still good. The cod had the best texture and flavor combo for me. Beans and rice were good too. Fantastic service as well!
google avatar

Craig P.

Yelp
Fun little spot near downtown Omaha. Service was good, food came out so fast I was surprised. Ordered three tacos (battered cod and chipotle lime shrimp) and they were delicious. Also got the cinnamon bread pudding and that was okay, more like a cinnamon bun with some sauce on top (though admittedly I am a bread pudding snob and pretty hard to impress). Would definitely go back if I were in town, lots of great menu options and lots of beer and drinks.
google avatar

Yelp
My family came to Omaha during a family vacation and saw this restaurant on Yelp. This place sits in a great location pretty close to the riverfront area. The food here was pretty good. Make sure to order the homemade tortilla chips and salsa flight. The tuna tortas were amazing and my husband loved his shrimp and cheese empanadas. My son got the barria tacos and loved them, and my tacos were also pretty good. As for service, the waitress was very sweet and made some great suggestions. The other waiters seemed pretty nice too. Would I go back? If I lived in the area, yes. I feel the prices were right and the food was good. Everyone left with happy bellies, and I call that a win.
google avatar

Jennifer M.

Yelp
Delicious cuisine. I love the taco selections. And the atmosphere is nice with large windows and casual conversational seating. The drinks are well made. Service is usually average to fast!
google avatar

Sue G.

Yelp
Two of the three type of tacos were delicious! The chicken was not a favorite. Overall I would go back and the prices were very reasonable. The guacamole with chips were also good.
google avatar

Lou M.

Yelp
Ehhhhh. I guess it was ok. I got the barria tacos and they were ok. Meat needed to be seasoned more and I thought they were kinda messy and the tacos were hard to dip in the small bowl. I did think the house margarita was very good though on the small side. I may give this another shot, but will definitely go for different tacos next time and probably water to drink to keep the bill lower. I wasn't overwhelmed with my first here. 2.5/5.

Yelp
The name might make a serious foodie nervous. It feels too cheesy; too cutsie. Play on word restaurant names are a tall task and usually don't work out. Exhibit A is the all too common bad coffee shop named "common grounds" and exhibit B would be the subpar breakfast joint with the word "egg" thrown in there somewhere. However, Hook and Lime is the exception to this rule. I met a friend here for lunch and there was on wait, which seemed like a bad sign. I was pleasantly surprised with great service and even greater food. The waitress recommended the tacos, so we asked if we could one of each. Each taco was delicious and spiced perfectly. It is important to note that the food, while good, is more of a tex-mex rather than authentic mexican. Still delicious. Didn't have a margarita, but the waitress recommended them. Next time!
