Craft beer & French-inspired fare in rustic-chic setting
"When UT students need a good date-night spot that’s close to campus but not in the heart of it all, they head to Hopfields, a rustic neighborhood gastropub with something for everyone. There’s a French-inspired menu—with dishes like steak frites, ratatouille, and French onion soup—but it’s the space that makes Hopfield’s worth coming back to. Grab a small table in one of the many side rooms branching off the main hallway for something more intimate, or snag a spot at the bar and chat with the bartender about the 35+ beers on draft." - nicolai mccrary, raphael brion
"Some couples plan elaborate cross-country road trips and others have had “do something fun” on a to-do list for months. If you’re more the latter and not the best planners when it comes to dates, Hopfields is a great place to go without having to make a reservation a week in advance. Just show up, order the mussels and fries and whatever else sounds good from their French-inspired menu, and have a casual night. It’s simple, easy, and way less stressful than picking a road trip playlist." - nicolai mccrary, raphael brion
"On Guadalupe in West Campus, Hopfields is a French-ish gastropub with a surprisingly luxe burger. The Pascal features a juicy patty, Camembert cheese, and whole-grain mustard on a brioche bun, with a side of pommes frites for $21 during dinner only. Make it fancy with a glass or bottle of wine, or more casual with a pick of its extensive list of more than 30 draft beers. Cocktails here can also be a fun companion, with the Blinker, made with rye whiskey, grapefruit, cranberry, and a pomegranate-hibiscus black tea. Expect a moody vibe inside with low lighting, and a leafy patio out back that’s perfect for lingering. Know before you go: Hopfields can get busy, so book a reservation to secure your spot." - Darcie Duttweiler
"Stop by the Heritage restaurant for craft beer and French cuisine, featuring dishes such as ratatouille, escargot dumplings, and steak frites, all served until midnight. The front bar area offers counter service, while the dining room in the back offers table service, making this destination a touch more date-friendly. While there’s a great selection of wines, the beer list is huge." - Darcie Duttweiler
"Hopfields is where to go when you want to drink a few beers, eat some semi-French food, and forget about the back-to-back-to-back meetings you suffered through over lunch. It’s never too loud or packed here, and they have a great burgers, that comes topped with Camembert and cornichons, and will make you forget for an hour or two that it’s only Tuesday." - nicolai mccrary, matthew jacobs, max bonem
