Hoppá! Bistro

"This contemporary eatery stands out amongst the myriad choices on vibrant Október Street, both for its smooth service and its modern, well-presented cooking – and it's certainly a popular spot. Large blackboards announce the daily specials, which see traditional Hungarian recipes brought up-to-date, and the excellent value lunch menu is always a hit. Local beers and wines complete the picture." - Michelin Inspector

We were in Budapest this weekend for a concert and decided to try a restaurant highly recommended by our best friends, who lived here for four months a couple of years ago — and what a great choice it was! The food was absolutely amazing, but what really made the evening special was the service. Our waiter patiently introduced each dish with a little story and even helped us choose the perfect wine to go with our main course. He joked, made us feel completely at ease, and turned dinner into a real experience. And yes — even the bathroom deserves a mention! A clever touch: a pig drawing on the doors (both men’s and women’s), and inside, a wall pig with mirror eyes. Fun and stylish! All in all, a wonderful evening. We’ll definitely be back next time we’re in town.

The food here was amazing. The simple menu does not tell the true story of the richly cooked, imaginative flavours, mixing local tradition with new ideas that would compete for top prize in any restaurant in the capital. You will not be disappointed.

Very tasty, medium- size dishes, high price, very good service. The chicken paprika dish was amazing! The rib eye steak wasnt so great, but still good. Chocolate desert was interesting

Great restaurant! Thoroughly enjoyed our meal, loved the complimentary bread with smoked butter and the starters and main courses were delicious. There was a long wait for desserts after our mains (25 mins approx) and although my dessert, “chocolate”, was visually stunning, it was rather tasteless. I mentioned this to our waiter, Gabor, but he completely dismissed my feedback which I thought was a little rude. Although the menu is reasonably priced a quality offering, service charges are high. €60 - €75 pp. Would definitely recommend going and booking is essential.

Great cocktails, excellent wine pairing suggestions and innovative take on classical food. Knowledgeable and friendly service. Nice ambiance. Overall good value for the quality of the meal.

An absolutely fabulous meal. We booked before arriving in the city, based on reviews, and then had some delicious food on the days previously, so we were both a bit unsure if this meal would live up to our 'saturday night' expectations for our 10th wedding anniversary meal out. However we were absolutely NOT disappointed and it has even been rated as our favourite meal of our long weekend away! The waiting staff were great, the food was outstanding, and the wine pairings topped the menu off - highly recommend going with the suggestions! We will definitely recommend to anyone visiting Budapest. Thank you so much.

Starting with the best part—our starters were absolutely delicious! They were well-prepared, flavorful, and set high expectations for the rest of the meal. Unfortunately, the mains didn’t quite live up to that standard. They weren’t bad, just a bit underwhelming compared to the fantastic beginning. Thankfully, the meal ended on a high note with a great selection of desserts and drinks. Both were well-crafted and left us satisfied. The atmosphere is warm and cozy, making it a pleasant place to dine, and the staff was professional and attentive throughout the evening. While the mains could use some improvement, the excellent starters, desserts, and drinks make Hoppa Bistro worth a visit!

A great spot for a modern take on Hungarian cuisine! The food is beautifully presented and full of flavor, with a nice selection of local wines to pair with it. The service is super friendly, and the whole experience feels both casual and a bit gourmet at the same time. Definitely worth a visit if you’re looking for a twist on traditional flavors!
