"This North Miami Beach restaurant is in a tiny strip mall behind a Taco Bell. The takeout-only spot is often packed, but the line moves swiftly as customers grab boxes of fritay, stews, and other Creole dishes. If you’re running short on time, get something from the steam counter, like a solid legim or mayi kole (cornmeal and bean stew), and you’ll be out in minutes. They also have buttery baked pate, rich Creole bread, and a locally made Haitian grapefruit preserve (chadèk). The service is quick and friendly. The fritay takes a little longer since everything is fried to order, but it’s worth the wait." - ryan pfeffer, virginia otazo, mariana trabanino, carlos c olaechea

The bread is good but the experience is trash. The area is dirty and the space is small, I can only imagine what the back of house area look like. I bought some of passion fruit juice and all I taste is sugar and esans. Let’s not talk about how everyone skips and they address their friends first… good bread though!

I do not recommend, they are scamming people by using two different systems to cash out. Price of the same items will always be different because of that, I questioned the cashier about it and she told me to shhhhh

I brought food from this restaurant and I asked for a receipt and they said they don’t give receipt. How are you taking money from people and you don’t give them their receipt just in case if something goes wrong. They have a facility where they sell their food. they act like they selling food on the street. It seems like a scam, as if they are changing price or they just don’t want refund people to if something goes wrong with the food. I’m not sure what’s going on but that’s very weird that you don’t give your customers their receipt. I mean you could go to any stores or any restaurant they will give the receipt because you’re giving your money out. I have never heard a place tell me they don’t give receipt. I could understand emailing or texting the receipt to the customer because they are saving paper but not giving Customers their receipt. It’s ridiculous.

They gave me a burnt greasy patty, can’t even bite into it.

The owner, and cashier are just plain rude! Their lack of customer service skills and unprofessional behavior will make you regret choosing to visit Horace Bakery & Restaurant. The quality of the food is subpar, and they are stingy with their meat in their legumes.(vegetables stew) I would strongly advise against dining at this establishment as they clearly do not care about their customers. They are not willing to stand behind their goods and services, which shows a lack of integrity and a lack of care for their customers' satisfaction. We purchased an Ak100 and it was spoiled and they wouldn't give us the credit towards our new food purchase, they rather lose us as a customer then to give a $3.00 credit.. Save yourself the time and money and look for a better restaurant in the Miami Beach area. Dissapointing customer!! 🤡🤡🤡🤡

If I could give 0 stars I would. I don't even write reviews, but I had to make an account just for this Haitian restaurant. The customer service was terrible, slow staff preparing the food and it seem like they don't really know what they're doing. An older lady is making the plates while a younger one is hovering behind her (when she could be serving another customer), seems like she doesn't know what she is doing. I've had tasty authentic Haitian food plenty of times but this one did not hit the spot. The chicken in sauce was very overcooked and dry, and the chicken patty was absolutely gross if I must say, not sure what mystery meat it was but it definitely was not chicken.

The food and pastry is good but the employees aren't professional. I bought pastries for $13.50 and my card got charged for $20 plus because by trying to do many things all at once, they have mistaken my card with another client. The worse part of it is when I was handed a card that wasn't mine.

I can't say enough good things about this place. Not only is it Haitian owned, it's operated by a loving family creating jobs and opportunities for their community. Therefore it goes without saying, the food is superbly authentic and the service is extremely courteous. I had the legume with diri ak sòs pois. Their paté kòdé us also good as well as their soup joumou. Enjoy!

Yelp
Again, we just finished our tax right next this place. We were hungry and wanted to eat. This place is always popular with Haitian people. I feel I am the only Asian there. If you don't know what to order, you can ask them to open the led. We asked for Griot which came with plantain and some salad. Their pikliz was fresh and spicy. It went well with griot. The service can be a bit faster but staff was nice.

Yelp
I'm not in this area often, but when I am I'm in the mood for Haitian food. I've had griot (fried pork chunks) with black rice (delicious) before so I wanted that. There was no black rice so i had to settle for brown bean rice which is fine. I stood by the counter stupidly thinking the griot was ready right then and there, but it's made to order so the young lady somewhat gruffly told me to sit down. You may wanna go outside while you wait because there's no AC. After about 15 mins the griot came out and it's in a styrofoam container with tostones, pikliz spicy cabbage, a slice of tomato, Turkey gravy, lettuce, and green pepper. The large portion of brown bean rice is in another container. Everything looked delicious, was $14.98 including tax, and they take debit and credit cards. When I reached West Kendall, I was hungry and excited. The food was delicious, BUT in the griot there were 4 large fried pork bones (see picture). 1 or even 2 is a mistake, no cook is perfect, but 4 is totally ridiculous and dangerous. I'm not paying to eat bones, so I will definitely never go here again.

Yelp
This is the worst place to get a patte from , not only did they put half a teaspoon of meat in 5 inches of the pastry, the meat had no flavor, no salt , no spices , I don't know how they still in business but wow this is unacceptable guys wow.
