Where to Savor New Orleans’s Best Shrimp and Grits - Eater New Orleans

"Chef/owner Steve Himelfarb’s Cake Cafe is another fabulous neighborhood spot, this time in the Marigny. An extensive menu of breakfast and lunch specialties like house-made corned beef hash and local catfish and eggs is joined by a winning version of shrimp and and organic yellow grits puddled with butter. Add eggs for $2.75 and definitely get the biscuit, best enjoyed slathered with house made jam." - Beth D'Addono

It's been about 7 years since the last time we ate here. The food was good. Not sure if a rush had just left but nobody else was there the whole time ,which was strange..

Google
It's a small place and I think that works for this restaurant. The Chicken and Waffles with hot honey was excellent. My wife had the Basic Breakfast, and it's looked good. The bloody may was ok and had too much horseradish for my liking. I prefer spicy but not fishy, and this was on the fishy side. While this place uses exported crawfish, I appreciate that being on the menu.

We had a wonderful breakfast. Three dishes: The Bomb, the huevos rancheros, and the vegan rancheros. All three were excellent, both tasty and filling. The side plantains were perfectly prepared, and the salsa was very good.

Don’t miss out! I just got back from New Orleans and hit up many restaurants for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I happen to have a gluten allergy, and I was with a friend who is a vegetarian. Going out for a Southern breakfast was a series of the two of us deconstructing the menu and leaving disappointed. Well, not the case at Horns! First of all, the place is decorated with fun, quirky art, a lot of which I noticed, was for sale! Next, the people who worked there were friendly. Which sadly was not the case in many places. Our food was delicious, perfect, plentiful, reasonably priced and piping hot. Make sure you come by there and enjoy a real good breakfast or lunch- you’ll want to go back- I do!

My wife and I and another couple were staying nearby for FQ Fest and loved visiting Horns for breakfast and coffee. Great food, coffee and service as well as a fun and mellow atmosphere. The owner was friendly and accommodating. Cool art on the walls. All around great local business. Definitely stop by and enjoy!

Google
This absolute gem of a restaurant comfortably nestled in the Marigny is a favorite of the locals and it's easy to see why. The food is excellent, the vibe is relaxed and the prices are reasonable. Keep in mind, they don't take cash. You go to the counter, order and then sit and wait for your food to be brought out to you. When you're done, you bus your own table. Pro Tip: Get the grilled Chicken Benedict on a waffle instead of a biscuit. For extra cred, call it "Eggs TommyMac". It all works so well together Bloody Mary is also very good. Add some pepper to it.

Beautiful breakfast and brunch place. Good food and unique individual design. Set in one of my favorite NOLA neighborhoods far away from all the touristy places.

Google
Went here for breakfast/brunch as it had good reviews and was near our hotel. It's a sort of serve yourself sort of place... very casual. But the staff is very nice and the food was quite tasty. I opted for the Cuban sandwich with fries. The place was clean and not overly crowded when we went. But there were only maybe 15 or so tables. I liked the food and I'd go here again if I'm in this area.

Yelp
Delicious breakfast spot. The restaurant has a bright, quaint look to it. Great service. Very chill, relaxed vibe. Be sure to check the chalkboard for their specials.

Yelp
What a cute, casual brunch spot in the Marigny that exudes the local neighborhood charm. Tons of artwork everywhere inside. Plenty of street parking. You order and pay for your food first, then seat yourself and they will bring your food to you. There are paper menus at the register to help yourself to, as well as a chalkboard on the wall that lists some additional menu items. I decided to go with the Huevos Rancheros ($13.50) which consists of 2 eggs (I got over easy), black beans, salsa, cream cheese, avocado and plantains. They have a drinking water station where you can get yourself your own glass. They had tables both inside and outside, and we were able to seat ourselves at a table indoors that accommodated our large party of 8. Staff brought out our food at a leisurely pace. The highlight of the Huevos Rancheros was definitely the plantains and I wish there were more than 2 on the plate! Wasn't a huge fan of the salsa -- tasted like generic chunky salsa with zero spiciness. It's a very wet dish that I'm not even sure came with tortillas or any starchy element -- it might have been so soggy I couldn't tell? So just a heads up because I felt like I was eating something with more of a porridge/stew consistency. Staff was quick to bus our tables as we neared the end of our meal. Overall a nice, quaint spot to unwind and have a casual breakfast or lunch if you're in the area.

Yelp
Decent spot for a basic breakfast. I got the bird breakfast consisting of turkey bacon, hash browns, toast, and 2 poached eggs. $12. Good portion and fresh, everyone left satisfied. Dining area was clean and offers plenty of seating. There's also outdoor seating. Staff was friendly and quick. Overall a simple but good meal that I wouldn't go back for. The étouffée was delicious, though. I'd probably go back for that.

Yelp
First time in New Orleans so I stopped at Horn's Eatery. If you want a friendly experience with great food, this is your spot. The two gentlemen who were working there were very kind. I ordered a cappuccino and a chicken Benedict.. both were great. Best Benedict I have EVER** had. Very laid back place.. definitely stop by!

Yelp
Just about the perfect place to have brunch while soaking up the Marigny vibe. Interesting menu with a casual order-at-the-counter format. Can be a little slow, but this is not the type of place you want to rush through anyway. Crabby Wife: Everything was right about this dish! The crawfish étouffée was packed with lots of crawfish and full of tasty veggies. Paired great with the poached eggs. And the flaky buttermilk biscuit was essential for sopping that all up. The crab cake was little small, but well executed. Crispy and full of crap pieces. Very indulgent when dipped in the étouffée. Can't think of a better brunch in New Orleans. Eggs Dauphine: Very hearty. Not regular waffles, but tasted like cornbread in the shape of waffles. Stood up nicely against all the pulled pork. Like a massive amount of pork. The poached eggs on this added a nice bit of runny moisture. Only downside was that the hollandaise sauce seemed a bit skimpy.

Yelp
This was right by our Airbnb so tried it out. Service was friendly and good. Food was good.

Yelp
Not to be confused with little horn which seems like a pervious name. This incarnation of Horns offers fast friendly service and great breakfast fare. (Lunch looked good too but we only stopped for breakfast). Order at the counter and grab a table. Plenty of hot coffee or brunch drinks if you're in the mood. Some seating outside as well.

Yelp
Food was amazing and the owner and servers were so nice! It is first come first serve for the tables but the place moves fast!! Cute place!

Yelp
We had breakfast here on our last morning in Nola and we enjoyed it very much. The ambience and the service were terrific and the food was excellent. Both of us are vegan and the scrambled tofu was delicious. Excellent coffee too.... I wish we could have stayed one more night so we could have had another breakfast here!
google avatar

Justin M.

Yelp
Had the crabby wife. Surprisingly for a Nola eatery needed a lot more salt and seasoning. The biscuit was nothing special and the crab cake was ok. The dirty chai I couldn't even drink but she did try to remake which was nice but unsuccessful. Nice ambiance in neighborhood. Maybe would give them another chance as other things sounded good.

Yelp
Service was good, but the food was weird, and not in a good way! Cute place. Maybe it's what we got idk! We only got the French toast and r traditional breakfast and hash browns and bacon were burnt and French toast had a soapy flavor I couldn't get out my mouth... the coffee was cold but agin we went an hour before closing so who knows, give it a try it's cute!

Yelp
Had an awesome brunch yesterday at Horns. I couldn't decide what to get so I asked the lady at the counter what her favorite thing is. Got the Huevos Rancheros and was not disappointed! Those fried sweet plantains were the BEST! Yum! It's BYOB and there's no corkage fee! So while some of the entrees are a little more expensive, they are worth it because you aren't shelling out a ton of cash for booze! I think I might have spent $25 total including my coffee and meal. It was really fun to bring our own bottles of Prosecco. The workers offered us orange juice and grapefruit juice to go with. DIY mimosas for the win. The workers were so cool and nice. The atmosphere is eclectic and homey. It really feels like you're a guest at your kinda crazy auntie's house for a home-cooked meal. I love it. I will def be back! AND I'm bringing my mama.

Yelp
Rustic, divey, an unassuming corner restaurant Ladened with horns. I was excited to eat here thinking that the "no frills" interior would beckon a frilled menu. I was so so sad when I tasted the étouffée. The crawfish had no taste. It was like chewing gum. The textures of the grits were good but for $19 I should have sent it back. On the other hand, the chicken and waffles were delicious! The chicken was juicy and tender and the the sweet potato waffle was sweet and crispy. So good! The server was nice and friendly, sharing in the enthusiasm of visitors dining in NOLA. One favorable dish, one poor dish, but a higher rating based on the service.

Yelp
If you ever find yourself in NOLA looking for a great breakfast, stop by Horn's! This place was actually recommended to me and my friends by the staff of another restaurant down the street so that's telling you something. We stopped in on a quiet Friday morning and were immediately sat. I was having a difficult time deciding on a meal so my friend advised that we split the chicken and waffle entree based on seeing the size of it on another table. For beverage, I ordered an iced latte with almond milk. The latte was delicious and perfectly hit the spot. They have a bowl of various sugar options including my personal favorite, stevia in the raw (green packets). Once our food arrived, I kept repeating how good everything was. It was just SO GOOD. End of story. The chicken was well-seasoned and crispy. The waffle is a sweet potato waffle and adds to the perfect balance of savory and sweet. The meal is served with a homemade BBQ sauce and was delicious on the chicken. I'm not usually a chicken + waffle type of girl but Horn's won me over. Service was kind and swift and wish we would've made another trip back for more!

Yelp
Stopped in for breakfast, very casual and low key. Nice guy ran the place. Ordered crawfish etouffe and eats, and it was wonderful! Heaping potion, generous on the crawfish, nice and fresh. Will go back next time I'm in town.

Yelp
Street parking, walk in and go to the counter to order. Employees are very friendly. I got the Creole Slammer and it was delicious. Place was very busy. No cash kind of establishment. I look forward to coming back!

Yelp
Hands down the best food we had in New Orleans! Service and atmosphere is so welcoming and friendly. Highlight of our trip!

Yelp
We eat here a few years ago when they were in the old location. I ordered the same food and was really looking forward to having it again. We arrived around 9 AM on Monday and it was pretty dead. Only two other tables were occupied. You have to order from the counter and get your own drinks. The person behind the counter does bring your food to the table. I was thrown when you pay before receiving your food and asked on the Apple Pay system to leave a tip. The options were 18%, 20%, something higher than 20%, and custom. They don't cook poached eggs. One of my eggs was not fully cooked on top so I tried to cover it with the piping hot etouffee but that didn't help. The crabcake was very good and full of crab meat. My biscuit didn't come out right away. The lady said it was still in the toaster. The biscuit had a good texture but was bland. My husband's waffle was good but had no sweet potato taste even though it was supposed to be a sweet potato waffle. There was a ton of chicken tenders that were good and hot. They offer real maple syrup which is not common at most breakfast places. The bathroom was clean. It's not convenient to Bourbon Street so we'll probably skip this next time.

Yelp
Kind of. a mixed bag. We showed up on a Sunday for brunch. We were quoted 30-40 mins but waited well over an hour. Once we were finally seated outside, service was slow at the start but then got better as it went. The food was well worth the wait. My Crabby Wife was fantastic. Fresh crawfish in a spicy etoufee on top of a crab cake was out of this world. The Eggs Dauphine and chicken and waffles were also quite tasty. Food gets a 5. The wait gets a 1. Service overall is around a 3-4. Hour would come back, if for no other reason than the food, but I'd aim to get there when it's not busy.

Natacha P.

Yelp
This place was so good. loved the atmosphere , vibe staff, owner art most of all the food was AWESOME so delicious!!! Next time I'm in Nola that will be my 1st stop

Yelp
Nice little family owned Marigny spot. Food was good, drinks were strong, service was top notch. There's outdoor seating which is great for the the people watchers. You truly never know what you might encounter in such a eclectic neighborhood. I had the crab cake with crawfish. Sauce was delicious and helped make the crab cake better. They could definitely use some work on the crab cake recipe. My husband food was pretty perfect. The best combo of sweet and savory. The chimichurri sauce was nice touch but the peppers really brought the dish together. Drizzled a little maple syrup on that cornbread waffle to top it off?! Like I said..perfection. If I return it'll be for the pork on waffle dish. The owner Kappa is super nice and an artist in every sense of the word. Check out her pottery for sale when you go for a bathroom visit.

Yelp
Stopped here for a relaxing breakfast on September 26, 2021. Identifying the hostess was difficult but once she was identified, the service was ok but far from great. My BLT was awesome. Service mildly attentive. Value : Good Will be back. Initially gave this place 5 stars for a September visit, now reducing it to 1 star for November visit. Update: Saturday, November 6, 2021 Returned to Horn's on Saturday to enjoy what we thought would be a great breakfast. Again, determining which person was the hostess was difficult, as she blends in with everyone else there....that took several minutes. Once found, she was incredibly accommodating and seated us quickly. Then, we waited...and waited....and waited for a server. Place was packed so we understood a slight delay, but this was too long. Once the food was ordered, we waited again...and we waited some more...food came out...and the BLT was great, the sausage a bit greasy, but good. The scrambled eggs were cold. Waited and waited some more and tried to get the attention of our server...not possible. We were both starving, and I chose not to eat any more than the first bite of my BLT, to be polite, while we waited on replacement of the cold eggs. Flagged down another server and advised the eggs were cold. She took away the plate and went into the kitchen. Fifteen minutes later, still no eggs. Flagged down our server, which took another 5 minutes, and explained the eggs were cold and another server took them to the kitchen to be replaced or reheated. So, we are 20 minutes into breakfast, with no coffee refills, cold eggs, and our waitress has not checked on us in 20 minutes. Our server then went to the register and spent several minutes handling a bill at the register before going into the kitchen. After about 5 minutes had gone by, she came out with the SAME EGGS, which looked like rubber and which were slightly warm, but not hot, and closer to cold than hot. They were awful and were not eaten. Finished the BLT (which was good!) and spent another 5 minutes trying to get the attention of our server. When I did, asked for the check, tipped 10% (half of the food was awful, and service was tremendously poor and likely the server was responsible for the cold eggs). Unfortunately, won't be back. While it's awesome to see restaurants packed and hopefully making some money, if you can't service your customers, either bring in more staff or reduce the number of tables you seat. Our morning had been absolutely terrific on one of the rare, gorgeous, crisp, cool, light-winded New Orleans days that makes you want to spend more time here, only to be disrupted by the awful service and cold food. The cold food would not have been an issue if our server had delivered them to the table in a timely fashion, or had she checked on us after serving the food, as she could have walked the eggs into the kitchen and waited for a replacement. Horn's is a great spot, great vibe, and the experience was unfortunate. We won't be back though, which sort of sucks, but my other half said "never again" and I can't blame her. Unfortunate first impressions.

Yelp
Great Brunch. So many ways to have waffles or pancakes. Great service. Horn theme is apparent. Loved the Rhinocerous washtub. I had the chicken waffle, w/ sweet potato waffle. Plenty for me.
google avatar

Lea Z.

Yelp
The vibe is warm and welcoming. Giving it three stars because of the food. It is dog friendly and we were looking for a place for Rocket's breakfast. They don't have a dog menu but were so accommodating to grill him a plain burger patty. I had the dauphine Benedict over potato latkes versus the cornbread on the menu. The pulled pork was a bit too sweet but okay. I would've preferred they drained it more as it was quite soupy. The potato latkes were different from what I expected but I liked them. The hollandaise sauce needed more punch but the liquid from the pulled pork may have drowned it out. Hubby had the etoufee and grits. That was pretty sad as the grits were unseasoned and etoufee was spicy hot but that was it, just hot. I would come back

Yelp
You have GOT to try this place when you're in NOLA. They recently moved locations from the original spot, but they're just as good. The dishes are so unique and flavorful, and the service will make you feel like you're right at home. Do NOT miss out on this spot!
google avatar

Stella W.

Yelp
This is such a unique spot in the Frenchmen Street neighborhood. My AirBnB was in this area, and my host swore by this spot as a locals' favorite. I stopped by on my last day, hungover, before my flight back and enjoyed the food lol. The restaurant is located as a corner and at that time there was construction going on, so it might be a little challenging to find nearby parking. I ordered the Creole Slammer, as the online menu indicated this as a hangover cure. The food arrived fairly quickly and the waitress was pleasant. The Creole Slammer consisted of classic hash brown at the bottom and topped with cajun crawfish stew. The portion was generous and the flavors delicious! I am not sure if this is the best for hungover tho. The food was a bit heavy and greasy.

Tom D.

Yelp
Small place, friendly people, good food. Yelp says they can seat 45 but that seems high, I'd guess 25 to 30 including sidewalk seating. Very informal, not a place for a business meeting but a good small neighborhood restaurant with good food. Tried the basic breakfast and the chicken and waffles and would go back for both.
google avatar

Kara B.

Yelp
This place was walking distance to our Air BnB so we decided to check it out. I ordered the B.E.C. It was a sad site to see. The only slight saving grace was that the bacon was cooked well and crispy. The cheese wasn't fully melted. Tried to order a Diet Coke and they said something was wrong with their soda machine. The also told our table their avocados were hard.

Yelp
Horn's is everything that makes New Orleans such a special place to dine. Is this quintessential Marigny neighborhood eatery perfect? No, but do they offer a brunch worthy of 5 stars? Absolutely! The food is amazing! Very unique brunch menu with plenty of options to tempt you, but I couldn't resist the waffle Cochon. An awesome cornbread waffle, loaded with pulled pork, chimichurri & pickled onions. (If Guy Fieri hasn't featured this dish, it's just a matter of time). Washed it down with a very good mimosa from their full bar. Yes, it gets busy, so expect a wait, especially on a gorgeous Saturday morning the day after NOLA removed the mask mandate. (I'd never attempt to bring a party of more than four). The service was super friendly, and efficient. Decent amount of pet-friendly sidewalk seating as well as several tables in the funky dining room. So happy it's around the corner from home, but even if you've got to walk a mile, you'll be glad you did!

Yelp
Who uses a derogatory term for menu name in 2023? This restaurant. They claimed it's ok though because the owner calls himself that . Discovered this after having to wait for staff to realize they had potential customers.
google avatar

Suzzanne R.

Yelp
This place is off the beaten' pass. We just had the greatest meal. The étouffée on top of hash browns and eggs. Omg!! Delicious Jess was our server and she topped everything!! Thank you for a great experience.

Yelp
Horn's supplied delicious food, friendly people and a mellow environment to start our day! I had the crabby wife and loved it - so much food I took half home and am eating the rest for dinner! Just the right amount of spice to start the day! My son really enjoyed his pancakes, eggs and sausage - he's not a big eater and he ate almost all of it! Looking forward to going back sometime soon.

Yelp
This review is long overdue. I love brunch at Horn's eatery and so do many others based on how long the wait can get on a weekend. The wait can get a little long, I think we waited for 30-40 minutes on a Saturday around 11 AM but once we were seated the service was fairly quick and food came out in a timely manner. It's definitely worth the wait though. My boyfriend and I brought our dog and sat outside and the staff were super friendly. They brought our dog water and pieces of bacon for him to snack on. I highly recommend getting the oyster Benedict. You won't regret it. They are also very generous with their portion sizes. Their Bloody Mary had a nice kick to it. 5 stars!
google avatar

Katelyn S.

Yelp
We were staying on the same block as Horns during our trip to New Orleans, and several locals recommended it to us so we had to check it out. We sat outside and the service was excellent. A little bummed that they were out of a few things on the menu, but I tried the chicken and waffles, and it was delicious. Now folks, I've eaten a lot of chicken and waffles, okay? But this combination of the sweet potato waffle, the slightly spicy homemade bbq sauce served with the chicken, and the real maple syrup at no extra charge... it was perfect! Great portion too, prepare to take some home or share. This place is totally worth a visit.

Yelp
Horn's is a homey-feeling breakfast must have. The southern/creole inspired dishes are full of flavor! The Crabby Wife was absolutely delicious -- the crab cake was tender and the etouffee was well spiced but not spicy.

Erika R.

Yelp
I went for breakfast and had the crabby Wify and I must say I love it .

Yelp
Horn's is a quaint restaurant situated in an old southern house. My friends and I were promptly greeted and seated outside at a bistro table. It's great people watching on that corner. We were there for breakfast and they have quite the selection of dishes to choose from. The coffee was excellent, refills spot on. The OJ was fresh squeezed. I ordered the Guatemalan style breakfast, it was very tasty with carmalized plantains, savory black beans and all the fixings. The hashbrowns were too crispy though. My friend got the carrot waffle. It was unusual, but good with the pickled goodies and sweet glaze on top. Everything else we ordered came out fresh, hot and yummy. Definitely worth checking out. A nice, family friendly experience.
google avatar

Nick L.

Yelp
Came here for a day before celebration because we always go to the bar down the street iggys and I've always passed this place up but they close at 2. I had the chicken and waffles and the chicken was fried in fish batter and surprisingly it was amazing. The sweet potato waffle was amazing!!! I asked for my waffle cooked golden and just amazing.

Yelp
It's hard because I really really wanted to like this place. My main issue was the flies. Me and my bestie we're on vacation in NOLA and this was our last stop for breakfast before heading to the airport. We decided to try this place out for brunch and get a few mimosas. I kid you not. My friend probably killed 10 flies in our sitting there. I know it's not necessarily their fault but its due to the door being open. We complained about it mutiple times and had to cover our drinks. The flies didn't seem to bother other people but we were at a booth by the wall and they seemed to flock where we sat. You'd think they compensate us by comping a mimosa or something. But nothing. The food wasn't bad. But it wasn't necessarily great either. My friend really liked her food but half way through took a to go container because she lost her appetite with the flies landing on everything. If I go to NOLA again, I probably wouldn't go back here.

Yelp
A cute little breakfast place that gets busy! Service was excellent, server came constantly filling our coffees and checking on us. Great extensive menu. Everything we ordered came out hot and delicious. Highly recommend to come early before the crowd!

Yelp
Really nice place. A very New Orleans experience. Good food, good service, cool ambiance.

Yelp
I picked this place mainly because my poor friend was in desperate need of some food that wasn't super rich or heavy, and if I'm being honest even I needed something healthy. We split a fruit bowl and ate every.single.piece. It's not small either! There's like a whole apple in there, watermelon, strawberries, blueberries, and cantaloupe. That's a good mix of stuff too, I think it might have been my favorite part of the meal. Along with the coffee actually, which is from French Truck Coffee and was one of the best cups I had while in the city. Has me considering buying a coffee maker. Looking over the menu now when I'm not completely over-stuffed, I think I ordered wrong because I was trying to go the healthy route. The Crabby Wife, the Creole Slammer, and the Jewish Coonass all sound freakin amazing. I went with some type of savory breakfast bread pudding I can't even find on the menu. It had spinach and a past prime avocado slice, with two (overcooked) poached eggs on top.Texture was weird, flavors just didn't come together. I also got a side of home fries which were not crispy at all. I'd love to come back and try different things. I wasn't feeling their bloody Mary, thought it could use more spice and a thicker tomato base, but I really liked their Mezcal Pimms Cup, delicious but not overly smoky. And the service was phenomenally nice and attentive.

Yelp
I had some really great deep fried seafood in NOLA, in particular I was raaaaaving about the seafood from Cajun Seafood. In wanting to try different restaurants, I was getting real sad that none of them had fried seafood that lived up to the deliciousness that Cajun Seafood had to offer.. until Horns came into the picture. My friend brought me here, and even though we had been gorging on fried food, BBQ shrimp, and crawfish etoufee, we were not sick of it just yet! What we ordered: Oysters Benedict, $18 - 2 perfectly poached runny eggs on top of 2 pieces of jalapeno cornbread, ladled with hollandaise sauce and surrounded by 6 pieces of deep fried oysters. Oh BABY, the oysters were GOLDEN... I almost cried because I can definitely say, that these are the BEST deep fried I've oysters in NOLA so far! I mean, I still love the ones at Cajun seafood. But these ones had a lot of seasoning and a nice kick to it! It was so so delicious!! Waffle Cochon, half order $9 - juicy pulled pork on a cornbread waffle, with chimichurri sauce and pickled banana peppers. I don't usually like pulled pork because its usually to sweet, rich and smothered in a sticky sauce. This pulled pork was none of that - it was soaking in its own juices, no extra BBQ / sticky sauce. It was really tasty with the chimichurri sauce. At first, I thought it could have used a wetter sauce on top - but everything worked nicely together. The waffle soaked up the pork juices, and while it did get a bit soggy, it was still really delicious. Crabby wife with extra order of 2 potato latkes, $17.50 + $6 - 2 poached eggs on top of crab cake, on top of 2 potato latkes (as requested as an add-on by my friend), smothered in crawfish etoufee and a biscuit on the side.  This was a monstrous dish on its own!  I can't remember much about the latkes, because I was distracted by everything else (in a good way)!  These guys are way generous with the seafood on this dish, and everything tasted great! While I've tasted better crawfish etoufee, this still had decent flavour.  I was really impressed that the crab cake had so much crab, and not much binder, like potato or flour.  This was such an amazing value dish!  Fruit bowl, $5/$6? - strawberries, grapes, watermelon, melon, and bananas.  I felt that this fruit bowl was just okay.  It wasn't that big.  Most of the fruit was alright, I found the canteloupe slightly mushy, but the bananas were an awful addition.  I like bananas, but it has no place in a fruit salad.  Personal preference!  Overall, this was such a nice little homey place to have breakfast.  I would order everything again!

Yelp
Came here because it was close to our Air BNB. Did not disappoint. We ended up coming in all three of our mornings here. Very highly recommend the pecan and cornbread pancakes. Oh. My. God. So good. Also highly recommend the crabby wife. Also good.

Yelp
I love Horn's Eatery for the Food, but also the deep Marigny Vibe feels my Nola Soul. The staff is superb! Known primarily for their Outstanding breakfast dishes till close and also some cool sandwich choices for lunch!! Try the Monster Club. Simple and Awesome!!

Yelp
Visited on a rainy Monday & plenty of seating was available. Decor is...unusual. Deer heads, skulls (fake & real), and brass instruments all make sense for a place called "Horns," but the family pictures and airplane propellers were the least weird elements whose connection was not as obvious. Regardless, the good was quite good, & the portions were large without being wasteful. That said, neither my wife nor I finished our meals in spite of being quite hungry. I had the Orleans Slammer, which was delicious. I was suspicious of chili on hash browns & considered asking them to serve it on the side, but have learned that more often than not, there's a good reason restaurants put certain combinations on the menu, & that was true again this time. My wife had chicken & waffles, which was good, but not the best I've had. Overall, recommended!

Yelp
I'd like to give a 2 and 1/2 stars. The pancakes and waffles were good. We ordered the crawfish etouffee, no flavor or salt PERIOD. The basic breakfast with scrambled eggs (over cooked and no salt, biscuit (hard as a rock) and grits (very plain and dry, no salt or butter). Guatemalan was so plain and ZERO salt. Who took all salt?!! Why are we so cheap on the salt? I think they make food suitable for people that are watching their salt intake. I understand it's a local joint and everyone wants to give them a good review to keep the business afloat. The restaurant is in a very dated house and you can't see out of the windows. They are very nice but I see that the restaurant don't really care for any new customers. They treat there regulars very attentively. We were not offered the same options as the table next to us. Clearly this lady was a regular and comes by herself all the time. That being said, we spent over $150 for our breakfast and of course we tipped over 20% because it's not the servers fault. Darrell was very pleasant and sweet. The other server, young lady barely made eye contact with me. She was the one that was only kind to the regulars.

Yelp
What can I say, I've been a fool! I have run (literally) passed Horn's for two years always curious but never committing to stepping inside. Well 2017 is the year Horn's and I met and boooooooy do we like each other! The front porch is charming, the interior even more so, especially the bar that looks like it's been around for at least a century. I was there for breakfast was greeted by a friendly and I may say very pretty wait staff. The menu is a great example of French/Creole cooking. I had the Eggs Dauphine a wonderful take on the classic Eggs Benedict. Perfect poached eggs, flavorful pull pork all atop the creamiest jalapeño cornbread. Truly a wonderfully indulgent dish. I also ordered some bacon because the fat kid in me saw it on my GF's plate and immediately jumped for joy. All I can say it's some of the best bacon in NOLA. Do yourself a favor, brunch at Horn's! You will thank me!

Yelp
This is a great place for breakfast in the Marigny neighborhood. The food was excellent, the service fast and friendly, and the price most reasonable. We will be sure to stop by again on our next trip to New Orleans.

Yelp
We rented a house on the same street about a half mile away. I walked past this place 3 days in a row and finally decided to stop in and try breakfast. I asked the waitress what her favorite breakfast item was she said without hesitation that it's the eggs dauphine. So this dish is jalapeno cornbread topped with pulled pork 2 eggs over easy and hollandaise sauce. This was an awesome breakfast and has taken over my number one spot for best breakfast in NOLA. I might have to stop by and have the same dish again before I leave town.
