Horn's Hook Tavern

Came here for lunch with Eileen and the place is great. She is a regular and we are first timers. We were welcomed by Ashleigh (spelling?) and we were seated right away. We ordered a few drinks and tehy came out within a few minutes despite the tv’s having a college football blaring and the about 14 people occupying the u shaped bar. The food was magnificent, kids had salad and a burger. The chicken on the salad was perfectly cooked and the burger was delicious. The fries were great just wished there were more. I had the Hamilton it was so much food was so full. The kids split a hot brownie and ice cream dessert that was fantastic. Willl be baaack soon!

I enjoyed my first time... But the second time was really, strange. The staff were amazing though..... My meat didn't look real... It was Gray. Like more than fifty shades.

Horn’s Hook Tavern is always a good spot to grab a few beers and/or some good food- literally everything on the menu is excellent and the staff are always friendly. Whether you’re in the mood for a solid burger or something off their weekly special menu, you will not be disappointed. The fries are excellent as a snack. They may be on the pricey side, but it’s a small price to pay for comfort and a good time. You will never be hungry after eating at Horn’s Hook Tavern. Usually live music on Friday nights and they play the sound for NY sports games or college games when people are in to watch.

Went there for an after wedding celebration. The staff was amazing. So was the food and drinks. Really cool little bar, we enjoyed our visit here with friends. This place was cozy and warm with smiles and good times!

I LOVEEE this place!! No wonder they're listed as one of the Top Sports bars in the city! They have the BEST bar food hands down, and the nicest staff! (Not to mention Tvs everywhere playing all kinds of sports matches) Trivia nights on Wednesdays are not to be missed either, it's such a fun time! Love bringing friends here and will be back soon!!

Really good vibe! They have a lot TVs for sports, a great beer selection and really good food. As you can tell from the picture, I didn’t even get a picture from before it smelled so good. Highly recommend their burgers. I got the Smoking Musket this time. The patty was very juicy. It goes very well with the texture of thick bacon. Love it! The pizza Margherita was also pretty good. I love the thin crust and the slightly sour tomato sauce.

My wife and I had an incredible time at Horn’s Hook Tavern last night, as the Chargers (yet again) embarrassed their fan base (of 1) in the WildCard Game. Ailey did an incredible job, and took incredible pride the food and beverage offerings at Horns Hook. WOW was she right- we started off with The Pulaski Sausage then grabbed some sliders (The Franklin was amazing, The Opener, and The Hale) then finished with a Brownie Sundae. Awesome cocktails, great vibe of locals to the UES, attentive staff, and wonderful food. We will be back soon.

Well, this would be considered my "Local" as it is just steps from my apartment, although I have a couple of other pubs I like, even though this is the closest. This spot has been in several different iterations over the years, but it has always been a bar/pub. I like this one the best; it has a great feel, layout, and staff. Plus, they are open late, usually at least until 1 AM. I usually come for a nightcap beer, but I also find Horn's Hooks is great for late-night food. I have flown into the city later in the evening, and Horn's Hook has supplied me with a fine meal on several occasions. They have a huge list of draft beers, some local, some not, but all good. As a matter of fact, they have more local beers on draft than any other bar in the vicinity. My favorite thing to eat here is a Bacon Cheeseburger with Declaration Fries, always good and always fresh. The wings are also a great choice! Conor is my bartender and such a joy to be around. I have spent late nights there just chatting away over cold beers. If you're lucky, he will be working whenever you walk in. Horn's Hook is a solid choice all the way around- ambience, food, cold drinks, and great service! As it all should be in a New York City bar!

I came here for dinner and was very pleasantly surprised. We presented the spicy Hudson Chili wings to begin with and they were super delicious. Even if you don't like spicy, they are pretty tame with a little kick. Very well cooked. I got the ambush for dinner which is essentially a bacon cheese burger with a side of mac n cheese. Everything was super yummy and super flavorful. It coulda had slightly more salt but that's fine. Service was great. Our waitress was friendly and checked up on us to see how everything was. The place itself has cool theming and really nice. I'm glad I stumbled upon this place. Would absolutely come back.

The food comes out looking like a million bucks and tastes like it too. There's everything from a cold Guinness, to Johnny Walker Black, to ciders and local brews. Jorge and Duncan took impeccable care of us at the bar. This is a jivin' little local bar with lively atmosphere and TVs for everything you'd want to see. I won't waste time going to any other bars this trip. Clean bathrooms for the ladies even on a weekend night!

Another spectacular visit. The bartender was very attentive. The food was delicious. Great ambiance. Was hanging out with friends.

Unbelievably delicious burger! I got the Hook Burger, with grilled tomato, Cole slaw, .... Had Brussel Sprouts for side. Also delicious! Great bar. TVs a bit small, but they have a large one front and center.

I like the late night food here- I've ordered chicken Parm twice, and it's always hot and fresh. Cocktails, I'd prefer elsewhere-

There hanger steak was cooked perfectly medium. To my liking. We sat at the bar and also ordered the Brussel sprouts w/ Mashed potatoes on da side ! The Macaroni and cheese is good also ! The bar area is a u-shape design! And there ambience is a wave of pictures on the walls . The have a good $10 cheeseburger midday till 2 pm . The seating at the bar can also be tight . At times

First visit to this establishment, decent pub food, attentive helpful staff. Enjoyed the Shrimp Po Boy, nachos were great.

Great bar! Came on a Friday night. Live music that sounded great. Food was delicious and drinks were great! I'd highly recommend the nachos - the queso on them was fire. Also recommend the fries with gravy and cheese. Huge portion and soooo good. Our waitress was a little slow with drinks, but it was a good experience overall.

The reviews for this place have locals raving about the food. By the looks of it, Horn's Hook Tavern just looks like your standard UES, Irish-inspired bar, but we were pleasantly surprised. The "morning glory" burger and sliders were spectacular. The bartender / server was also nice as could be. Very impressed. We will be back.

I love this place. Friendly staff, solid pub food options, but also some good lighter fare, which I appreciate! As much as I want to exist solely on mac and cheese, sometimes I need a spinach and quinoa salad and Horn's Hook does both really well. I love that they're open for lunch and open for late night food, which is great when heading home after a night out of the neighborhood.

. This place is great! it has an extensive selection of solid beers and delectable bar food. What sets it apart is the variety it offers, including an all-day brunch, variety of tacos, and a mix-and-match sliders option that caters to pretty much anyone's tastes . The staff is not only friendly but also attentive, going above and beyond to ensure guests feel welcome and taken care of. It's also clear that this place has a loyal following. The delicious food, and exceptional service keeps me coming back for more.

Wonderful neighborhood pub! The atmosphere, vibe, food, and service is terrific. It's a casual spot to have a drink, go watch the game, or have a nice dinner. There is a very patriotic theme here from the decor to the menu. Think George Washington revolution era yankee doodle dandy set in a modern placing. Around 16 beers on tap with many local brewers featured along with some imports and domestics. Bottle and cans of the more regular varieties. Nice house list of cocktails too and some wines. Fish & Chips were so good here and not greasy at all. Shiner beer on tap reminded me of my trips to San Antonio to visit family. Everything was fairly priced but also not on the cheap side. You'll drop some cash here for dinner and drinks, but the good portions and tasty food are worth it.

I have been here twice and really enjoyed myself each time. The bar is great, drinks are good and the salads were excellent. Nice crowd, friendly and efficient bar staff. Ambiance is great!

If I am not at home you can probably find me here. I love this place for a few equally good reasons. (Hopefully you are in the mood for some light reading) 1 Bathrooms are kept spotless regardless of how busy it gets. 2 They have swag and it's not mandatory for the staff to wear but most do because it's cool, quality stuff. Also, lowest turnover rate I have ever seen says something about a place as a whole. (That's the small stuff) 3 The staff are awesome (to put it lightly) They have always found a way to accommodate my family when we go. Even if it is the final game of the World Cup. Place was packed by 9am and I walk in with 2 strollers around 10am. They helped us find a place to stand till a table opened up. I have more epic examples but this is the most recent. 4 The Kitchen will always surprise you with the specials. Like a 5 star restaurant. I can remember ones from over a month ago. Like the ham, pizzas, and Most of us are hoping the steak quesadillas from last week's special find its way onto the standard menu. (PLEASE) 4.1 Speaking on the clever, standard menu I have not tried everything yet. (I'm working on it) My goto's are the many burger and slider options, steak and chicken sandwiches or just one of the appetizers when I am not that hungry. Most things are made inhouse, from scratch by Mike the head chef and his extremely talented staff. Mike has an impressive background in his culinary career and consider myself lucky that he landed at my favorite bar. 5 What is on tap? What is not on tap. They have all of my favorites. The Big Wave, Allagash, Montauk, Sixpoint, and tons more. When I am on a budget they also have tall cans of ice cold PBR for $7 bucks ( don't drink cider but they have a few of those too) If I ever leave the neighborhood I will still regular this place. Why go elsewhere? If it is your first time there and you find me I'll buy you a round for reading all of this!

I've come to Horn's Hook twice and each time I've been served raw chicken: once with the chicken wings and one with the fried chicken. Today I got the fried chicken and it wasn't just a little pink, it was 75% raw throughout. Actually repulsive. (I'll spare you the pictures...) We got the sliders as a substitute, which could barely be considered sliders because of how small they were - one bite and that's one. It also took another 20-25 minutes for our sliders to come back after sending back the chicken. Nothing was comped despite this massive mistake. The staff was friendly but it was a very horrible experience . And several months apart so very surprised we got more raw chicken. Please teach your chefs how to properly check the chicken. Someone is going to get very sick.

I came here to watch a NFL playoff game and randomly chose this bar because it's fairly close to me. So happy I did because it's an amazing place to watch sports, drink a beer and has great food period (not just for a sports bar). The bar is pretty big with a lot of seating. Bar seating, tables, table tops. There are TVs everywhere so you can see a game wherever you're seated. The vibe is that of a local bar, nothing like a Buffalo Wild Wings. I wish I took more photos of the food because that was the biggest surprise of all. We ordered 6 dishes over the period of the game because the food was so good. A few of the dishes we got were pizza, mac and cheese balls, wings and sliders. I would go back for the food. My team ended up losing but this is gonna be the spot I come to watch games from here on out.

Conor is an absolute gem and makes sure everyone is taken care of and with a smile. Cool spot with reasonable prices, nice tvs for sports, room to hang outdoors and great food.

Great service! We ordered the around the horn sampler and the smoking musket burger as per recommendation from the bartender/waiter. All was great- standard pub, did not disappoint. Thank you!

Good pub bar, with very decent food. Service, courtesy of Julie, was excellent. Simple ambiance -really just chairs and tables with screens for the game. But, overall, the food was a notch up.

Saw a rec in a facebook group about their grilled cheese and tomato soup and it was unreal!! Perfect for when you aren't feeling well. Will def be ordering again

Love a low key casual spot, great drinks and yummy bar food! Really nice staff and in a great neighborhood, will be my go to spot! Try the general Pulaski blankets and yankee doodle for apps. The chicken tacos were great along with their fish & chips!

This place just gets better and better. The small things like being spotlessly clean, an amazing bar back who wipes the bar surfaces down after guests leave, the friendly lady bar staff. A good selection of beer, better than the ordinary fare but I'd love to see one or two more. Finally the food wins the day, lots of options with a lot of unique dishes. Burgers are huge, delicious as is the chicken BLTA in sourdough. I local gem, one of top three in UES, This, Penrose and Jones Wood. Excellent

Had been wanting to try this place since the reviews were good. Got the sam adam's oktoberfest and it wasn't very good compared to other pours I've had. Not sure if it's a keg or tap issue. Ended up getting a canned beer after since I didn't want to make the same mistake twice. Bartender was nice and changed the tv for us to watch the game we wanted. Looked like there was two women who were unruly and ran into the kitchen to steal food. Odd. Didn't have an awful experience but won't be rushing back.

I was able to sit where I wanted and chose the table by the window. The ambiance and the staff were great. Unfortunately, I only drank a beer and didn't sample the food which looked amazing.

Went to Horn Hook this past Saturday night and what I discovered was a great neighborhood pub with a friendly down to earth vibe. The pub is nicely decorated and has some very interesting historical photo mounted on the walls. They have a large bar that houses a unique antique cash register. A real old time NY pub. There is nothing old time however about the food, drink and service. They have a large selection of beer on tap clean, fresh and cold. My favorite was the Horns Hook larger. The food was outstanding. All freshly prepared. The apps were pub food with a modern twist. We sampled the fried pickles, the brie stuffed pretzels, the cranberry boneless wings and the Pulaski pigs in a blanket ( smoked sausage in a pastry). All were served with delectable sauces. All the burgers and sandwiches looked delicious. I had the grill cheese and bacon with a side of tomato soup both were outstanding. Everyone I was with enjoyed what they had. They also had salads, steaks, chops , pasta and vegetarian dishes on the menu. And last but not least they had a raw bar. The service was quick and efficient. At no time did we feel rushed. A shout out to our waiter Chris who could not have been more pleasant. The owner happened to be there that night. He welcomed our group. A very friendly and pleasant fellow. All in all a very good experience I look forward to going back.

Excellent all around. Greeted as soon as I walked in. Emma the day server was awesome. Had the kielbasa app and the shrimp po- boy was incredible. Shrimp avocado fried egg and bacon on a roll. Brilliance. Will def be back.

All I can say is that the kitchen staff is nicer and more attentive than the wait staff. The bar tender/server was awful! Horrible attitude from the start - like she hates her job and hates her life, but why do I need to feel like that's my fault? She basically threw the menus down then left. Didn't come back for ten minutes. Didn't greet us or bring water. Took our drink/food order and again didn't say two words, like we are such a bother to her because we want to sit and have lunch! Luckily the food was good and kitchen runner smiled at us and brought me a to-go box. The bartender/server could care less about clearing our table or helping us. We had to ask for a second round of drinks and waters. We had to then flag her down for the check and it took over ten minutes for her to run the card! Unacceptable! Find another job if you hate it so much!!!

Ate here a few weeks ago. Bartender was both working the bar and was my server. She was very friendly and patient. Attentive to the bar patrons. Seems like they attract an older group of day drinking regulars. A very young man helped with the tables. His age and experience showed but nice nonetheless. I ordered the steak sandwich. The meat was absolutely tasteless and barely any aioli sauce. Everything else was ok. Fries were cooked well and well seasoned. Everything was a bit pricey though. My lunch bill was $44 with 1 beer. I expected given the theme of the menu that the environment would reflect it more but it was subtle. Maybe an American flag tooth pick on the "freedom fries" or something, idk. I'd maybe give it another try but not running back. 3.5 stars

Both the food and service was excellent. Typical pub like atmosphere but cozy.Horn 's Hook Sliders were very tasty and it was good to have a selection of different types.

There are a few things that make this place great. The staff, the hours, the menu, and the service. And as far as I can tell, the local bunch of characters that hang out here agree. NYC indoors is back and I felt at ease sitting at the bar knowing they proudly have a fully vaccinated staff. While I've had a burger in the past, that was delicious, I was craving carb heavy potatoes to nurse my hangover and the potatoes skins did just the trick. Also, many other items on the menu would do the same. The only thing missing from the menu is the tacos another review posted. I haven't seen a taco in sight on my three visits here. But don't deter, they aren't lacking on good food, lots of TVs and a very full bar.

Unbelievable, super bowl Sunday. Our food took over 3 hours (we were quoted 30 minutes! And hubs chicken was raw and mine was packaged with lots of love! (See pics) i understand times are tough but this is unexplainable. They charged $16 for the tiniest boneless 'wings' - not even enough food for my 3 year old!

HOOK EM BABYYYYYY. This spot is relatively new in the hood but they doing it GOOD. Spot-on compliance with covid regulations (socially distant, contact tracing, etc.), super friendly service, and a smattering of Texas-centric food and brews. Was glad to not only see a bunch of Shiners and breakfast tacos, but apparently their regular food is also pretty damn good! Specifically, while I haven't had it personally my friend said the namesake burger was really really good. It has slaw, and apparently knocks it out of the park. The tacos are solid, as are the sliders. What's a great unique factor about the sliders is the fact that you can mix and match the different kinds without an up-charge - PLUS the fact literally all of the flavors are mini versions of the regular big burgers/sandwiches so you can get a sampling of those without committing to the whole thing. Just kinda wish they'd extend this same mix and match policy to the tacos. But all things considered a GREAT spot! Go here fam.

Ordered delivery from this place on a Sunday afternoon. A small snag with the delivery, but they insisted on making it right by coming back and throwing in a few cokes. All the food was really delicious. We got the chicken salad sandwich, fried chicken sandwich, cod fish, appetizer sampler, fries with gravy and cheese. The sliders were really small, but they were really tasty. Would definitely order from here again.

So I was wondering around the neighborhood (UES) today, wanting more than just a drink. And I came across Horn's Hook.. Needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised. Because we are all living in this Como-Deblasio City, finding anywhere that is authentic is a rarity. So that is my one-word-classification of this place: AUTHENTIC. If you want genuine food from genuine people, then go to Horn's Hook Tavern! I won't get into the semantics of how great everything & everyday was, except to to say that I WILL BE BACK VERY SOON!!! B-)

The menu has good variety and I ordered the burger. The size of burger was great and there was a good amount of fries. The only thing is, medium rare does not mean raw inside. It was undercooked. I ate about half before I noticed. I hope the meat was fresh. If not I'll be posting again tomorrow for sure.

Thank you for the amazing service and delicious fries! We stopped by for about an hour just for beers and fries. The revolutionary fries are AMAZING! A must get! Solid selection of beers and lots of wines. Sad we just discovered this place before leaving the area.

Great service and the staff was so accommodating. I'm a big wing fan so when they offered different flavors that was a bonus! I also had the opportunity to speak with the owner. Jenni was great! I'll definitely be back!

Tried this place for the first time last Thursday night. Rare find on UES - great vibe, food and perfectly made cocktails. Bonus was the oysters. Guy is set up with freshest harvest from his farm in Mass on tues and thurs in front of bar - at $2.50 each it's best bargain in ny!

Great neighborhood place with restaurant-quality food. Most bartender servers are terrific. Reason for this 2-star rating is the rude experiences with Patience. Always a bad experience whenever she is serving.

Manhattan at its best: no dressed up bs of food or cocktails, no gimmicks. Honest, fresh food and a wide selection of taps. Service is outstanding and cocktails superb. If you really want to have a taste of honest New York, stop by. Horn's Hook is an Englishman's tribute to the American revolution!
