"After a visit to the hotel spa, why not treat yourself to a meal in the chic natural setting of Le Chêne? The refined menu features a concise range of tempting proposals: seasonal vegetable gazpacho with preserved vegetables on crispy bread and black garlic vinaigrette; prawns with fresh thyme, a vibrant bisque, house-made tagliatelle with Taggiasca olives; cheesecake with Alsace cream and fruit compote." - Michelin Inspector

La Cheneaudière Hôtel & Spa (Colroy-la-Roche, Grand Est) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Still family-owned, La Cheneaudière Hôtel & Spa has gone from strength to strength over the last half century. After opening in 1974 with just ten rooms, the once boutique property has since grown into a fully-fledged five-star hotel and spa, whilst retaining all the independent character that first drew guests upon its opening. Cozy rooms nod to the hotel’s countryside location in the heart of Alsace, with rich shades of blue, green and midnight black inspired by the nearby forest and Vosges mountains. The vast three-floor spa and its various pools, baths and saunas have elevated the hotel to a true R&R retreat, and classic French restaurant Le Chêne and one Michelin star at Le Feuillage are also putting it on the map for gastronomes." - Tablet Hotels

Hostellerie La Cheneaudière & Spa (Colroy-la-Roche, Grand Est) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"In the quiet village of Colroy-la-Roche, near the border of Alsace and the Vosges, La Cheneaudière & Spa is a wellness-focused luxury hotel framed by a mountainous landscape. Originally a low-key, family-run inn when it opened in the 1970s, La Cheneaudière — the name refers to the property’s old oak trees — evolved into an elegant escape with a state-of-the-art spa and several high-end dining venues. Lodgings range from cozy attic rooms overlooking the forest to opulent Art Deco-styled suites with fireplaces and private open-air Jacuzzis; all include access to the three-level wellness area with indoor and outdoor pools, a Nordic bath, an ice fountain, saunas, and a hammam. Le Feuillage, the gastronomic restaurant, is a highlight." - Tablet Hotels

Second time I came here, I use this hotel, when I drive from Antwerp to the Swiss Alps. It's somewhat in the middle, and I don't like driving for too many hours. So this hotel is a perfect stop in between. Rooms: very nice, spacious. Breakfast: very good Spa: nice, but very strange that it is a dressed wellness... We are in Europe, and we normally don't wear clothes in a sauna... So that is really strange. Be sure to bring swimwear. Personally: I go to wellness places in Belgium and The Netherlands a lot, this is the only one I know that is dressed. Things I love about this hotel: - the overall very nice look of the place when you arrive. - the convenient parking with charging facilities. - the nice smell whey you enter the hotel. - the way the room numbers are projected on the floor. - the Japanese toilet in the room. - the TV in the room is discretely hidden behind a mirror. Minor things I would change: - in the restaurant, the chandeliers hanging above the tables, have LED light, and although it is probably 2700 Kelvin, LED just does not give a warm welcoming light, especially in combination with food. The dishes that are so well prepared in the kitchen, loose a lot of appeal because of the LED light. I admit I'm obsessed with lighting, and see these mistakes in a lot of hotels and restaurant. The only time LED can work, is when you combine it with a lot of halogen, to make it warmer and more appealing. - ditch the swimwear in the Wellness - I love the black coffee cups ( from RAK ? ) but if you wanna make tea in your room (or in the restaurant) : black is not suitable for tea, as you simply cannot sea the color (and thus strength) of your tea. Will I be back? Sure! Next time I drive to the Alps, I'll book again.

Upon arrival you can only be amazed at this wonderfully located hotel. The reception and everything in the hotel is as to be expected and then a little better still. The spa is amazing and even though we were there on a weekend not too crowded. So why the 4 stars? Well, our first dinner nights was not in the Michelin star restaurant and we had to wait VERY long for our main dish (over an hour). When then seeing the bill we thought it to be very overpriced. Our room was a forest room and even though the shower was amazing i did not really like it. Do not get me wrong, the room has everything you could want but these rooms have not so much space as you are on top level and this means the roof is in the way. They have made the most of it and the room itself is beautiful but i felt a little cramped. We did have the Michelin star dinner which was amazing and very well priced in our point of view. The 3 o clock sweettooth is also a very nice touch and staff we very very helpful. So a 5* rating but with a few things to keep in mind.

A magical family owned wellness resort with hospitality in its DNA, located in beautiful Alsace region, deep in the forest. From the moment we stepped into the resort, we were welcomed by the lovely Flora, we were ushered into the beautiful Aubépine suite, spacious, traditional but with absolutely gorgeous modern features, including a porcellano spa bathroom. Breakfasts buffet and afternoon adult snack buffets were delicious. We had room service from the lovely Gourmand restaurant both nights. Second night, Maxim, the wonderful manager personally brought our delicious wine and dishes multiple times. Absolutely scrumptious and generous Alsatian cuisine and very gourmet. Spa is three floors, multiple pools and hot tubs with stunning views. It can get busy because of day spa guests but still spacious and lovely. We had a magical time and so glad we found our way into this piece of heaven with the loveliest people who are immersed in the art of hospitality. The lovely hotel manager personally checked on us on st least two occasions which goes to show how much they care about their guests.

Unlike the previous reviewer’s experience, our room was perfect: a very comfortable bed with really high thread count sheets, plenty of space for our large duffel bags, electric shades to block out the early morning sun, a separate sitting room with a second TV, arm chairs around a coffee table and regular chairs around another smaller table, a constantly restocked fridge with sparkling and still water and an espresso maker. Best room we’ve been in on this European trip.||The service has been excellent, although most of the staff do not speak much English. The vast majority of the guests are French (it was a pleasure not to hear more English than French, as in Paris). The front desk staff helped me find a clinic where I could get some staples (stitches alternative) removed from my arm. They also helped arranged a driver from Strasbourg to Stuttgart when we discovered two days before departure that all the trains were booked.||We did a beautiful hike through the flower-filled town and the Alsatian woods one morning. Another morning we rented two electric mountain bikes at the hotel and toured around a number of bucolic towns (my wife and I are both tall, so while we managed, it would have been nice if they had large bikes instead of mediums). The area bike routes are well-marked and lovely. Afternoons were spent lounging outdoors in the spa. ||The lunches were copious, well prepared buffets. At high tea time every afternoon there is a big desserts and fruits buffet. It’s really welcome that we could go to these meals in a bathing suit and a hotel bathrobe (the place is a spa).|We ate two nights in the hotel’s less fancy restaurant and saved our Michelin starred dinner for Auberge Guth in an adjoining town. We also went out for croissants in the morning, rather than eating another big meal at the hotel. ||The spa facilities themselves were great with multiple levels filled with pools, jacuzzis, cold plunges and saunas. ||We very much enjoyed our four nights here.

Well, it’s a R&C which says a lot. This hidden-away-in-the-hills spa and gastronomic delight is a wonderful place to indulge the senses. The hotel itself is beautiful, as was our room and the service was excellent. The pools and Spa are spread over 3 levels and offers a wonderful experience. Apart from dinner the breakfast experience should not be forgotten.

My husband and I spent three nights at La Cheneaudiere Hotel & Spa to celebrate his Birthday. It was our first time in Alsace and at this fabulous hotel and spa, and what a gloriously memorable and blissful stay and experience we had! We were mesmerized by the sheer beauty, the panoramic vistas and the pure tranquility this magical Hotel & Spa evoked. |From the moment we arrived we were pleasantly welcomed by the professional, young reception Team who provided us with a quick tour of the hotel while we waited to check in. The room appointed was immaculate, warm and cozy with a magnificent view of the mountains and village. It had all we could wish for especially a dreamy mattress and a decadent shower with more vistas of the majestic mountains as a backdrop. The Management Team had also surprised us with a bottle of champagne and chocolates in our room to further celebrate our festivities. It was a welcomed surprise and kind gesture which delighted us. |The Spa facility is unbelievable…it is a dream! It exudes the ultimate wellness, serenity and peacefulness. The array of spa services is incredible with a dedicated Team of enthusiastic professionals ready to assist in making your moment the most relaxing experience, revitalizing your body, mind and soul. The expansiveness with the indoor/outdoor pools, both dry and wet saunas, whirlpools, hammams, heated beds for the ultimate day naps is a nourishment for anyone looking for a pure relaxing and rejuvenating experience. The massages we managed to each have were pure bliss. We were in the great hands of two delightful young ladies who took care of us from the start of our service to the end.|The restaurants and food, the other integral component of this beautiful hotel and spa were fantastic. We unfortunately didnt make it to dine at the Michelin star restaurants but plan to do so upon our return in February next year. But, the buffet breakfast, the buffet lunches and afternoon ‘gouter’ experience did not disappoint. The quality and well presented, delicious offerings are all locally sourced from small artisans, which reflects the deep and integral attachment of local purveyors and their craft. Superb cheeses, breads, honey and much more. The live cooking station with the well appointed Chef, explaining the dishes was abundant and fresh. The waitstaff and service were friendly, polite and efficient. |A special thank you to Marion, the hotel Director who with her charisma and smile approached us for a brief jovial conversation. Equally delightful was Maxime, the Manager of Operations who kindly walked us through the two beautiful Michelin star restaurants and kindly offered to make reservations but also recommend some great wineries while in Alsace. And, Hugo, the assistant Manager who with promptness looked after our checkout, efficiently and with great care with his genuine demeanour and professionalism. |My husband and I look forward to returning to La Cheneaudiere and experiencing further this peaceful and magical location! Thank you again to everyone for making our stay so memorable and unforgettable! |A bientot! Mr & Mrs Tambuchi

The architect deserves a medal. Gorgeous hotel. But the beds are horrible to sleep in. A glas of a no brand champagne for 30€, cocktails from 18-23€, the food is mediocre and at diner the diced potatoes tastes like cheese. Guests walk around with bathrobes, during breakfast and especially during lunch. Staff just asked me for my room number, because he confused another table reg. a bill (I didn’t order anything). The cook was arrogant, the service at the table was rude. Am I having a bad day? Advice: if you stay here, try to avoid pretty much everything here to enjoy. I’d try the EuroDisney, where at least the staff at least tries to smile. Oh, just now: We finished breakfast 35 min ago, but just now she took all the plates but left the table uncleaned. What a horrible stay.

I chose the hotel to take a break with my girlfriend. To summarize: We wouldn't come back. Why is that? The hotel itself is in a very nice location and the rooms themselves are really nicely furnished. Most of the hotel staff were also extremely friendly and courteous. However, in view of the high costs (just under €2,000 in total for 3 nights), the criticism has to be harsh. This applies in particular to the spa area, which was clearly overcrowded due to the seemingly unlimited number of day guests. It has little to do with wellness if you have to queue for a few minutes before every sauna session. A relaxing break looks different. The same applies after the sauna to the showers and the loungers, which were often occupied with towels without any intervention from the staff. In a 5-star hotel, it should not be the guest's job to have to fight for a lounger in a spa area. In view of this, I don't want to go into any further detail about the otherwise clearly inflated price level - but an apple juice for just under €8 is clearly beyond the scope of what is acceptable and should only serve as an example here. All in all, no recommendation; you can get much more for the same price elsewhere.
