"Hot Motha Clucker is one of many modern interpretations of Nashville-style hot chicken, far from the original intent and execution but still tasty on it sown. This outfit with multiple locations leans into the messiness with extra-saucy sliders, fries, and more." - Farley Elliott

"There’s yet more hot chicken coming to greater Los Angeles soon, but this one hails from out of state. It’s called 24 Hot Chicken (owing to its around-the-clock hours) and has an existing location in Plano, Texas. Despite the name, the restaurant at 12048 Ventura Blvd., in Studio City will not in fact be open 24 hours a day, but will stay open until 3 a.m." - Farley Elliott

So, picture this: I had one heck of a long day at work, feeling exhausted and craving some good food. I decided to order from them through Uber Eats. Well, let me tell ya, the first thing that caught my eye was how tiny those sliders were. I mean, seriously? But hey, I thought maybe size doesn't matter and focused on the taste. unfortunately, it was just average compared to other chicken joints around town. nothing to write home about. but here's the kicker: the fries. Oh boy, they were like solid rocks! I swear, I almost chipped a tooth trying to bite into one. how on earth do you mess up fries? It's like eating a pork cracklin', and trust me, I didn't ask for that.i hate wasting food, but I had no choice. those fries went straight into the trash can. It was a disappointing experience.

I'm just here

Google
Went there in April. Unless you want to start crying and spent some quality time with your toilet, do NOT get the hot spice! They warned me and I didn’t listen. I spent so long crying trying to take a single bite. Other than that, chicken was delicious, service was great. 10/10 would go again.

It's right off the highway at a car wash and we could see the line and people cooking which was nice cause we didn't have to guess where it was. I do think they should update the sight letting people know what car wash they're at. My husband is obsessed with hot fried chicken so we've been to alot of different places. We're waited for our food to be cooked longer than we waited in line but we got there a few mintues after they opened. Having said that the chicken was cooked perfectly, it was delicious and juicy. Not alot of chicken for all the bread I felt like it was a tease, the pickles were a little salty but I'm not sure if it was the batter or if it was because it was pickles. It was good but I don't think we'll make another hour and a half drive to eat here again. Howlin' Ray's is still at the top of my list even with the wait. My husband just wishes he would've ordered more food.

Google
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ABSOLUTELY MOUTHWATERING 🤤!! If I could give this place a higher rating I would. I ordered the 8 piece lemon pepper wings w/ fries and chileee when I tell you these wings were packed with flavor my mouth is watering thinking of it right now! I’ve tried a lot of various lemon pepper wings in my time and without a doubt these are by far THE BEST I’ve ever eaten. Also the special sauce for the fries makes me fantasize of what Ed’s special sauce from Good Burger would taste like,… yeah amazing! The atmosphere was clean and welcoming and the staff was super friendly. The food was also priced very well especially for Studio City. This will be my new go to spot, and I’m sure once you give it a try you will feel the same!

Google
I come here often because the chicken sandwiches are seriously addicting. I think because they are for real spicy and not fake spicy like chick fil a. They are not kidding when they say spicy but it's certainly not unbearably spicy. Friendly service too!

Cody Smith

Google
This is some of the best street food I have had. Thier spicy rating is on point. Its spicy but still has flavor. All the food is good here but the loaded fries are the best! The only thing I would change is making there coleslaw using a variant of the house sauce because that house sauce can be put on card board and you would eat it.

Paul T

Google
Not just spicy but fresh and crisp made-to-order hot chicken and wings. I normally don’t dip but their house sauce was an irresistible compliment to the chicken. Cole slaw was simple and snappy which balanced the intensity of the other flavors. Portions are generous. Personable staff. Definitely will be returning.

Google
Yo who checks these orders? Yall forgot the extra sauce I paid for each time I have ordered! What is even the point of life if I can't smother my hot succulent tenders in that sweet tangy sauce? Isn't this every man's desire? Isn't this what greatness was meant to be? Don't I want to taste freedom?!

Robert B.

Yelp
The best fried chicken in LA. Great sauces, and fries. Staff is decent and the environment is fresh.

Crystal G.

Yelp
I used to order the chicken sandwich and waffle and fries here a lot through Grubhub. It had been a while, so I stopped In and saw that they raised the prices! Although the chicken sandwich was good, it was $15!!! The service was good. The cashier was nice, It was a rainy day and it wasn't very busy when I went. The only thing I didn't like was that there were 1 or 2 big fruit flies flying around. Other than that, the tables were clean. I'm just a little salty that the chicken sandwich is now pretty much $15 which includes the tax but still.

Mezan G.

Yelp
All it took was the "juiciest chicken sandwich in LA" sign and the good music to draw me in to this gem. I was very intrigued by the chicken sandwich and went in to order and I have to say it was so delicious! The chicken was tender and crispy. The sandwich had a good amount of sauce on top which I enjoyed. I ordered it in a medium spice level, and it was pretty mild. Next time, I'd definitely go for the hot. We also ordered the wings which were perfectly covered in sauce, crispy and flavorful. The service was fine. we came on a Wednesday night so it wasn't too busy and food came out nice and hot. I enjoyed the music as it was hip hop, rap, and r&b hits which is my favorite type of music. Overall, we enjoyed our time here.

Yelp
Discovered my newfound go-to for chicken delights! The chicken was impeccably crispy, and the seasoning, both on the chicken and fries, was a symphony of flavors. The toasted buns were a game-changer, ensuring they stayed delightfully intact during the drive home - a thoughtful touch often overlooked. The Mac and cheese, not only a feast for the taste buds but a visual delight, creamy and indulgent. However, the hiccup in the experience was the unresponsive phone, prompting a detour through a third party for ordering. Uncertain if a wrong number was the culprit, but worth investigating. On the upside, the inclusive drink offerings with combos added a refreshing note to the overall meal. The ambiance, albeit petite with minimal tables, exudes a cute vibe. Parking might pose a challenge, especially during the day due to its proximity to popular establishments like Sephora, Trader Joe's, crave cafe, and others in the shared plaza.

Denae L.

Yelp
We love hot chicken! And boy do they have yet. We've had mild, medium and hot, and they're all different experiences! Their fried pickles are good! Better fresh than doing take out. Fries aren't bad either. The real winner are their sauces. They're super good and I always use leftovers up with other meals. This location is the only one we've done to and they're so nice! The woman behind the counter was really nice when we waited for our food and was really sweet with my kids. I'd definitely recommend eating here!

Aristotle L.

Yelp
I came on a Tuesday evening and was welcomed with excellent staff both at the counter and in the kitchen who went above and beyond. The chicken sandwich was okay and the fries were tasty, but I would also simply return just for the service of the folks on that shift. MY ORDER x1 The Motha Clucker Sando Combo THE MOTHA CUCKER SANDO COMBO: ($14.89) A solid chicken sandwich with a good portion of creamy coleslaw and sweet buns to complement the salty fried chicken. I wished the bun was a little firmer so that the sandwich would not disintegrate the second I clutched it. The combo also comes with a tasty portion of thin cut seasoned fries that will help satiate those oily late night cravings. ENVIRONMENT: While the photos make it appear like a stand, they actually have a brick and mortar store now with a fountain drink dispenser, tables, bar stool etc. Nothing too fancy. CONS: - they used to offer a 2 chicken sliders combo, pity they no longer offer that - I would prefer a firmer bun for the sandwich TIPS: - Hot Mutha Clucker is located in a shopping center with plenty of parking - The cooking time is about 20 min

Haylee J.

Yelp
Absolutely love Cluckers! Great food, great service, and great employees! I got the chefs special last night which was delicious! Best hot chicken in the city

Courtney S.

Yelp
Gave them another shot. Food is pretty good. Not a fan of coleslaw on the sandwich itself, but no big deal next time I'd ask for it on the side. Service was really good, everyone is nice. Will order again :)

Jacob R.

Yelp
Man, I've had Dave's hot chicken, and angry chicks, as well as other chicken places and this one tops. So much seasoning on our food and the chicken was so crispy and delicious. When it's packed I could see them taking a while to get the food out but I think it's worth the wait. Wish we could have gotten a little more sauce but thats the only complaint I can think of. Staff was nice too!

Kayla A.

Yelp
Came here for a second time... Pros Food was good-as always. But be forewarned, even the crispy is a bit too spicy for me. Lol Isabel, who took our order, is lovely Cons Restrooms need cleaning. They really need to clean the restroom. It's pretty bad. Also, unfortunately there were a few flies swarming around inside the restaurant which makes the indoor option not appealing. Finally, the loud banging rap music should be turned down a bit.

KN K.

Yelp
Hot MOTHA CLUCKER!!! 1st Time trying it , Called ahead order was ready on time as promised. I liked that flavor and the hotness level that I chose. I chose the mild hot chicken sandwich combo with a Coke. They have also Mexican, Coke, liter glass bottles available. Definitely appreciated the crispiness of the chicken breast. It had enough house sauce and spicy drizzle. Overall I'd say nine out of 10 very juicy and Delicious as expected. THIS SPOT USED TO BE 24 HOT CHIKEN --- Miss the Vegan Hot sandwiches though, But this spots legit as-well . Great Flavor and Crispy Chicken.

Lynnette P.

Yelp
I ordered the 10 piece chicken nugget box that showed fries in it. well there were no fries. $15 for mediocre chicken.

Kit Michele G.

Yelp
This is what I'm thinking of when I think of hot chicken tenders. Great seasoning with the ability to adjust spice and perfect complemented sauce. Got it for take out so I would imagine it's crispier when fresh. Fries, coleslaw, and Texas toast are all standard, but since they are staples when eating a meal like this, would still get them every single time. Solid! Would come back.

Chris P.

Yelp
Came here for the first time today, definitely a fan already. My wife got the chicken and waffles without any spice and i got the three tender combo medium. If youre not a spice person the medium will probably be aggressive for you, but if you are its amazing. It tastes great and doesnt just hurt. Chicken is cooked to perfection. Waffles were amazing. Also got the milkshake which was a solid addition although *probably* too expensive at almost 9 bucks but i get it, this economy is crazy. Everyone we talked to was really friendly, inside is clean and well kept. Highly recommend

Dwayne L L.

Yelp
Their chicken is really good. I've been a loyal customer since their early start-up business days at the car wash on Woodman, here in Sherman Oaks.

Albert Christian P.

Yelp
cmon guys. really now. If you're a transplant to L.A, and don't know better... sure, this place is crRrRrRazy. But there's much better near by. i work close by and have gone here a few times. you can do better. im speaking to you, the reader and chicken enthusiast. the thin strips of dry chicken they serve sucks. the fries are saturated with salt and no real flavor. you like this place??? cmon I took you as a champ not a chump. Go to Dave's chicken. THATS a damn good place. This place is so... lame? It's not that flavorful, just different degrees of heat. I LOVE heat, i get the reaper at Dave's all the time. it has flavor and great kick. this place? sorry Hot mother clucker, time to go home to roost. the place doesn't try at all. the service is try-hard at best. ive gone here three times, each time hoping it would be better than the last. it's not. it sucks. the chairs are very uncomfortable. like just hard ass wood stools. for a bar, great. for a place to eat some hot chicken?? nah. so much potential. but it's just a place with thin dry chicken that's way overpriced. don't get me wrong, i'm not cheap. i'll throw down $20-30 bucks on a plate for top grade cluck cluck. this place is worth half its pricing. two stars. i'm being nice. the sauce is good. they give one tiny one with each large order.

Koko -.

Yelp
Yeah so this business doesn't know how to answer the phone or even setup a voicemail/automated message. I called on back to back days (Monday and Tuesday) and I can't get anyone to pick up the phone. Store hours indicate they're open too so I'm not sure what's going on. Food is definitely expensive but I do enjoy it, hence why I called on back to back days. Very frustrating, be better and at least setup an automated message relaying what's going on if you're gonna be closed.

Lisa G.

Yelp
So delicious and always on point and always consistent wit the quality and taste!! Great service and never get anything wrong with delivery

Val A.

Yelp
I don't understand how they can leave the bread off a slider, it's baffling. Do you even know how a slider is constructed? Never, ever again. Update: My review was meant for another establishment with a similar name, Bad Motha Clucka, part of the Dog Haus chain. I've been going here since they had a pop-up in Sherman Oaks. I ate there last night to get rid of the bad experience at the other place. THE CHICKEN HERE IS OUTSTANDING!!! My sincerest apologies to the owners and to the folks that may have read my review.

Lorraine I.

Yelp
They are really nice people But they are kind of slow I waited a long time for a fast food The food has so much seasoning in it The fries are really slim The inside is not too big and has some seatings here and there The chicken tenders are huge Way too huge

Aaron M.

Yelp
One of my favorite places to stop by when working the Hollywood area for a beer and some great food. My favorite bartender hands down is Tyler. Tyler makes you feel right at home with how sweet and thoughtful she is. Definitely keeps me coming back.

BRad Shapiro S.

Yelp
Let me start off saying I love the food here . I was a fan when they were at Fashion Square Car Wash at nighttime . However, I went on Saturday to pick up lunch at 1:30 in the afternoon . Not a soul in the place . I waited 9 minutes to order because the kid who was working the counter moves so slow and with no urgency. If your the owner here , this kid should be fired and not represent your product or business . When I asked why he was so slow and took so long to take my order , he stared at me with a blank look and made a derogatory comment towards me . So sad , because food is good , but I will never be treated like that from a business that i frequent and enjoy ! Sorry until these guys start hiring people who understand the service business , I WILL NOT BE COMING BACK!

Dee R.

Yelp
This place is no Howlin Rays but comes very close and satisfied our craving. The chicken was well flavored and juicy The only issue I have is how soggy the bread gets Overall worth us coming back and one of the best hot chicken places in LA

Lowgun G.

Yelp
Love this place. Hot chicken sliders are my favorite and this spot does it right. I recommend checking this place out.

M C.

Yelp
Do not order delivery, I repeat do not order delivery from this place. We received 2 combos and fries are HARD AS A ROCK. Not talking about few pieces, but every single one of them. And the chicken sliders are the size of a slightly bigger nugget. I never waste, but my teeth are more valuable.

The F.

Yelp
So, I currently live in Orange County, and my girlfriend is in Thousand Oaks. The drive between the two places sucks. Whenever I'm in Thousand Oaks, I'm usually not impressed with the food options. But guess what? I finally found a place that I absolutely adore - Hot Muther *******! Their chicken sandwiches with the special sauce are freaking amazing. They offer different heat levels and have a bunch of tasty stuff, like sliders, mac and cheese, fried pickles, coleslaw, French fries with this awesome seasoning, and more. I'm a huge fan of their food. Most places in TO (locals call Thousand Oaks that) close around 9 pm. If you want something good to eat, your options are limited to overpriced fast food or the grocery store. But if you want something quick, yummy, and visually appealing, this place is where it's at. We all know that we eat with our eyes, right? When I get hungry late at night or when I'm heading home from Orange County to Thousand Oaks, I swing by Hot Muther *******. They're open until 12 am, thank goodness. Plus, they even have some games to play while waiting for your food. The people there are cool, and the owner is really chill. I like where he's going with his place. I often joke with him about how delicious his food is and how much I appreciate that they're open late. I'm not trying to flatter him, but I gotta let him know that his food is delicious and whatever he's doing is working. Some of us don't hit the hay at 6 pm, after all! If you're into tasty comfort food or if you've got the munchies after smoking a bit of weed, this place is perfect. It's super chill and always hits the spot. I don't usually write reviews, but I had to share this one because I really felt the urge to do so. Mangia!

Brian B.

Yelp
The chicken and waffles are delicious. Large pieces of chicken will satisfy any craving. The waffles are light and delicious. I air fry them a bit because I like a crust on mine. The fries are well spiced and plentiful. Thank you Motha Clucker's for being as good as your name.

Jon B.

Yelp
I think the way to go with this place is takeout The food was pretty good but watch out - their medium was my hot. Might be different for you so I'm not going to judge them on the Spicy level. They really need to clean their "dining" area up. Also choice in music was awful - but that's subjective. I might go back...

Sheeny A.

Yelp
This place was good. The sauce and the breading on the tender was good. I got the medium spice and it was the perfect spice. I can handle spice and the spice was perfect for me. I don't know if I would eat here again because I'd rather eat at another spot, it was good, but I would buy from Dave's if I had fried chicken again. It was missing the unf for me. But I don't want to discourage others from ordering from here. I would come back to order their special sandwich, now THAT looks dirty and delicious!

Shandise S.

Yelp
OK I know this is a harsh review but this is only because I've tried their location in Thousand Oaks, and it is so much better! I was really craving their à la carte sandwich and hot and it was not the same experience although it was tasty. It wasn't as amazing as the Thousand Oaks location. Also, I think the ranch is different which makes a huge difference if I could give extra points I would say 3.7 out of five.

Mansta A.

Yelp
I tried to get their food when they were street vendors but couldn't find them. I was beyond excited that they opened a location near me. I think my expectations were too high or the quality of their food has declined. The chicken tenders were nice and crispy but I didn't love the flavor of their spice blend. The house sauce was watery or broken. The cole slaw was bland. Maybe I should have ordered the popular chefs special sandwich. But then again that sandwich is slathered with their house sauce which was not that great. When they were selling food on the street they were really busy- but this spot is empty and i now see why. I wanted to love this place so bad. Cashier was realllly nice and helpful.

Barrett G.

Yelp
Excellent! Mild is hot, & allows all flavors to kick in. Hot is really hot. Great service, served fresh and fast.

Bryan R.

Yelp
I ordered on a Sunday via UberEats with my family and was a bit disappointed at this restaurant. It had great reviews but as you can see in the picture, the food was not very tasty and I didn't receive all my items. Most of the food was over cooked and had an overall messy presentation. Will not be recommending.

Cami M.

Yelp
love this spot! it's my favorite hot chicken spot. i get the two tenders meal which comes with a coke and fries at a reasonable price. I tend to get the medium spice but it's pretty hot for me and leads me to gulping down more liquid to soothe my taste buds from burning up, so i think i should stick to mild from now on! highly recommended

Matthew L.

Yelp
3.5 stars if I'm being precise I guess. The fried chicken itself is above average in taste and quality. If you have a craving for a spicy chicken sandwich and fries, you could do a lot worse. However, for $15+ I'd hope for a little more sandwich. It's smaller than the palm of my hand (diameter from knuckles to wrist) and the bun isn't large enough to hold much of the toppings. I like fried chicken sandwiches with an actual *layer* of slaw/sauce. The sandwich does come with a ton of fries (which I don't care about), and a drink (the only options are sugary drinks and diet coke, I'll pass thanks). The restaurant in this spot prior to Clucker was 24 Hot, which I feel surpassed this restaurant in quantity, quality, speed, and value. Perhaps it was the pandemic.. I dunno how 24 Hot failed but I'm sorry to see they were replaced by an inferior fried chicken joint. RANT: Why do these fried chicken places not make actual pieces of chicken anymore? I'm talking legs, drumsticks, thighs, wings etc. These bland strips of skinless breast meat do nothing for me!

Mihrdat Y.

Yelp
Well, well, well.... I gotta hand it to you guys. There clearly is no better Nashville style chicken spot in the SFV than you guys. I am handing you the award. Great job! I just wish they were open earlier than 7:15. Maybe its a good thing they open later or else id eat here all the time. Me and my wife were at an event in Burbank when we noticed that they bad a booth set up, and we never say "No" to hot chicken so we tried them out. It was definitely a wise choice! Their chicken strips are solid in size, flavor and spice. Great all around run that makes me keep going back for more. If Howlin Rays ever decides to set up their next shop in the SFV, I will ALWAYS be there. But until then, i will be going with these guys from this point out.

Niccolo N.

Yelp
Our first time here and it was 12/10!! Ibrahim was very nice and went above and beyond in not only thoroughly explaining the menu items, but also serving us our food when we were not even 10 feet away!! His service and the food is something you hardly find nowadays. This is for sure our new chicken spot!!

Adam Y.

Yelp
Delicious, good level of spice. My son got mild and it was perfect as well! We will definitely come back.

Sarah W.

Yelp
SO good. Talk about comfort food - we ordered through their site and they were offering a buy one get one entree so we tried the tenders and fries and tender grilled cheese. So freaking good and great flavor. To note - the hot is HOT!!! Be warned this chicken packs a mean punch! Will definitely order again.

Jasmine S.

Yelp
Love me a good snack! Look at this chef's special right here, tender grilled cheese with house sauce. Now that is a grilled cheese that we never had like before. That house sauce of there perfection! Goes well with the chicken grill cheese and their fries. It's was definitely a hot mother clucker.

Pari S.

Yelp
Kind of a late night fast food spot with a very casual ambiance. You order at the counter. They only have fried food. I thought the friend chicken was overly battered , too salty and a bit dry. But they are the only food spot open late.

Gina B.

Yelp
We went to the studio city location & it was very clean, server was very nice & professional. Food is excellent, fresh tasting. They have 3 locations. Hollywood, Studio City & Thousand Oaks.

Tim M.

Yelp
Mild chicken sandwich was hot and delicious. Chocolate shake was on point. Leaving the review to give props to Stephanie (not sure if she is the manager or not, I didn't ask). This woman is very good at her job. She was on top of every order and knew ahead of time when there were any mistakes in pickup orders and corrected them before they were picked up. She was answering phones, dealing with counter and the outdoor pickup window all with a smile and pleasant demeanor. Give her a raise!

Tiffany T.

Yelp
YES! YES! YES! My question is, why does Hot Motha Clucker not have a solid 5 star rating here?! Coming from Tennessee, I say one hundred percent, THIS is hot chicken! My husband and I had always driven by this car wash and saw lines of people and wondered just how good the chicken could be. Oh we learned! Parking: This location is in the Fashion Square Car Wash after the car wash closes I am assuming. You can pull up, park, and go place your order. Customer Service: AMAZING! We have now been here twice and the customer service has been consistent on both experiences. The nice lady with the colorful hair was so helpful to us since she knew we had never been there before. All of the suggestions she gave us have been solid! Food: Nashville, TN is home to me, so I know what hot chicken is supposed to taste like. They absolutely nailed it. The chicken is fresh, hot, and cooked to perfection. If you are not much of a spicy type, I'd say be mindful that the "Mild" even has a kick to it. Also, the portions are BIG! So make sure you're hungry when you go there. Overall: Hot Motha Clucker is amazing. From the customer service to the food and quality, this spot is overall SOLID. I hope this review helps you decide in where to have some real Nashville Hot Chicken in Sherman Oaks, CA. :)

Yareli O.

Yelp
The portion size is so small for almost $20 dollars and every little chicken . It' taste good but I don't think I would consider this as a first option due to portion size

Nick W.

Yelp
Food Service and quality all 10/10, not to mention you can people watch by having a seat outside or by the window. Super juicy and cooked to perfection. Just the right amount of flavor

Anisha H.

Yelp
So it maybe bad that I rate but but I have to being from the southeast and I owning what real hot chicken taste like and this wasn't quite it. I was excited to support and try the local version and was sadly disappointed. The chicken was missing a lot of flavor that would would give from real hot chicken in TN or GA. It was also a bit dry and not moist at all. We were a large crowd and I'm grateful they took us and also busted their butts to serve us and the other guests in the restaurant so proficiently. But my score is solely on the food and the lack in flavor, taste and heat.

Erika A.

Yelp
Food is AMAZING! Perfect for a rainy day or just cause. I'd say you need to try it for yourself, but give it a 10/10!

Abner A.

Yelp
I've tried a variety of chicken spots n this chicken was spicy but no flavor. The fries were an even bigger let down, way too salty. Ranch tasted watered down, their special sauce was okay... lemonade was 80% water, 15% ice and 5% lemonade . Overall just had me in the bathroom for 2 days. Just my taste buds tho. You do sell lemonade I ordered off postmates... Stay mad at this one star review.
