Very tasty and authentic! Ordered less spicy with fragrant spicy flavor and they were not very spicy, right at the acceptable and enjoyable level. We did not order sea bass as our waiter doesn’t recommend it - sea bass can be tougher in texture. Scallops with conch in the shell was so delicious, worth the price. Will definitely be back!

Good quality and good prices. Definitely a place to go with 2+ people considering the portion sizes. Service was great and overall, everything was delicious! Recommend the spicy garlic flavor!

We had a great experience in their Edison, NJ location in 2022, and this one was also excellent. We ordered the spicy fish - we chose firm because we did not want fish to disintegrate too much - with tofu, asparagus lettuce, lotus roots, etc. as vegetables , and got a cucumber w/ soy sauce app & a sharable drink of Kumquat Lemon Iced Tea, all on their handy tablet. We were busy enjoying their signature dried nuts and the cucumber arrived quickly. It's slightly spicy but also crunchy and sweet - a refreshing way to get your mouth watering. Fish came pretty quickly and we did not have to wait long to dig in. Our "firm" fish was flaky and nicely held together while delivering full might of Chongqing spicy sauce in every bite. Four of us had plenty to eat, along with all the veggies. I especially recommend the asparagus lettuce which gives you crunch, right amount of sauce-absorption ratio, and bite feel, and the Fuzhu, the dried beancurd that acts as sauce retainer. While there is heat and numbing effect from the chili and the peppercorns, it was not too spicy to eat, even for our one Caucasian companion (but, he's married to Chinese woman and pretty trained in spice) and the kumquat iced tea definitely helps cleanse/cool your palate as needed! They also bring you this milky grass jelly drink for dessert, which my friend absolutely loved, and we finished our meal with bellies content & full. You can't go wrong with Hot Space spicy fish - take your village there! Highly Recommended.

Oh I loved everything about this place. Food was so good, our server was super cheerful too. The free welcome nuts, sparkling drinks (if ordered over $120) and finally free dessert were such a nice way to pamper customers. The 2 floor area was spacious. Although we waited for 10,15 minutes, it was all worth it! Will go back for sure 😄

Delicious and authentic Chinese food. Highly recommend grilled fish which comes with a variety of flavors to choose from. Their skewers are also tasty and come with big portion. No reservations needed but you can join waitlist via Google before coming in to avoid wait. Excellent service and the staff are very attentive.

Got the tofu mala fish & garlic spicy fish to eat as main course. Very well cooked!! I really liked the mala fish. We also got the pig feet and it was also very nicely cooked. Cucumbers were also tasty and I liked the mango green tea too- we got a serving of the lemon soda as well and it was a lot bigger than what we expected, definitely worth it. Service was also sweet, we were seated promptly and they took care of us. Really enjoyed my time and would definitely come back in the future 🥰

I recently had the opportunity to dine at one of Flushing's most bustling fish BBQ spots, and it was an experience that exceeded all my expectations, especially in terms of service and hospitality. The most impressive aspect, however, was the level of attention and service provided throughout our meal. Exceeding my expectations every visit, Hot Space is repeatedly a Flushing favorite of mine. If you can handle the heat, come here for sure!! Some MUST READ suggestions for first time restaurant goers: - Must-have appetizer is the cumin lamb skewers if you like juicy, spicy meat rich in flavour. - Now for the fish (main course): Get the 'spicy tofu pudding sauce'... it might sound weird in name but it's fantastic. Striped bass is a great fish, but allow the staff to make recommendations. I believe certain things, when in season, are especially good. Let the staff cut the fish open for you too, as it can be intimidating to approach that huge slab. They know EXACTLY what they're doing. - For additional toppings for the fish, mung bean noodles complement the fish perfectly, as well as the cabbage or whatever greens they have and enoki mushrooms. I like the soft tofu with it too, but you can choose whether or not that fits your palate. - And lastly, medium spice level is ok for a spice lover, but it's not crazy. You can let them know you want a bit spicier than that... but not TOO much, or the cooks might punish you like they did to me once. ------------------------------------------------ Just to compliment this place a bit more...The fish is perfectly cooked every single time. Yeah, it's bony, but that's par for the course when ordering an entire ginormous fish. The staff is so friendly and greets us every time we come in (even though we're still sad our favorite guy left). The portions are so big and the bang for your buck is crazy... it's quite a lot of food. You'll find yourself shoveling so much fish into your mouth, though, and it'll all be gone before you even started. Delicious, and definitely a food coma worthy spot. I could rave about this place all day honestly. It's got so many terrific qualities. And, best of all, if the staff see you suffering because you ordered the fish "as hot as humanly possible", they'll give you an entire canister of water for your table... thank god.

They start you off with a long plate of snacks, typically asian style nuts. We got the barramundi and some bass in spicy tofu pudding flavor and garlic flavor. We also got two appetizers, beef tongue and tripe with chili oil, a little spicy but overall pretty refreshing. Garlic flavor is tasty, garlicky as it sounds but I did enjoy the spicy tofu fish better. It came with potatoes, radishes, and some other items. Be careful as there are some bones. Great flavor, there's a small fire underneath keeping it warm. It even comes with some wide noodles which were great additions. you put that liquid goodness on top of your rice and wow, amazing. Fresh and tasty. Would come back. If you ordered X amount of food, I think if it was over $100, you get a free drink. We got like a pineapple drink or something, enough for maybe 8 small cups of drinks. Refreshing and just what we needed. Overall, amazing place, great food but was pretty pricey, two fish pots, $10 udon, a drink and 5 small rices, and I think two appetizers rung us around $250 but would still come back and maybe not get the appetizers next time. Also great service!

Visited on sundat evening. You can get into waiting line via minitable. Easily found on their website or google map. Wait time varies. I was placed 18th. Took about 45 minutes but this can be longer. There is a small waiting bench where you can wait in case you arrive early. Parking- there are plenty of paid garage. There are plenty of street parking but always full. Don't violate traffic laws. There are many traffic cops. You will be ticketed in less than 15 minutes ( happened to me) Inside of the restaurant is very clean. Some chair cushions are destroyed but they usually give you a seperate cushion mat They will put your coat or belongings in a large plastic bag, so they dont soak up the smell. They give you a plate of nuts as a starter. Beef stick - well cooked. It tastes really good. Tastes like actuall fire bbq. They bring it in plate and take the meats out for you Big mouth bass- very soft. Crispy skin. I had hot soft tofu flavor. Its pretty spicy. It comes with soft food. I chose 4 add-on package - enoki mushroom, loot, seaweed knot, potato and kelp. And cabbage. This was more than enough for 2 people. The waitress mentioned that too much add on won't fit on the grill. Ask when you order. I definitely recommend this fish and flavor. Everyone was very nice and polite! Recommended!!

We ordered spicy tofu flavor with striped bass and it was delicious. The fish was not the most delicate but tofu was silky, soft and perfectly spiced. All the staffs are very polite and attentive. They always give out free appetizers and desserts. So save some room for that!

we ordered the big mouth bass with spicy tofu pudding flavor, with the golden combo (enoki mushrooms, kelp, potato, lotus root) and spam as toppings, and rice. this was wayyy too much food for 2 people but it was seriously delicious! the flavoring of the sauce was so addictive. the fish was very mild, which was a good thing considering how intense the sauce tasted. in retrospect we should've shelled out the extra $10 to add another flavor like garlic, but it was still really delicious. ambiance here is nothing to write home about, but service here is very friendly and efficient. the meal starts with some free mixed nuts and ends with free dessert. servers were really good about refilling our drinks and checking in on us. recommended.

Got the striped bass fish (2lbs) with spicy garlic soup for two people and it was wayyyy too much. It could definitely satisfy 3-4 people because we ordered ramen noodles, tofu, and enoki mushroom with it and still had leftovers the beer is cheap and fish was great! I like that the restaurant wasn't too crowded and we got seated immediately -- the ambiance was cool with some Kpop + Chinese rap playing in the background Would definitely return again. 4.5/5

The food is great here! I highly recommend their frogs pot if you like that. One of the best I've had in the US. What's more surprising is their service. Our waiters were so attentive and helpful. They changed our plates three times and my water glasses were never empty lol. Modern and comfortable decors too. Highly recommend this place.

Just had dinner here! Was quickly seated and the concept of the place is like you choose your own fish, toppings, flavoring. I ordered the barramundi fish, spicy garlic flavoring, mung bean noodles, enoki mushrooms. I also love how there's barbecue options liek the skewer ones. I had chicken wings and the spicy cucumber salad. Everything was super good very savory and delicious. I recommend you try it! The service was amazing i was helped a lot.

Hands down our favorite restaurant in flushing! We were so blown away we couldn't stop thinking about it and drove 2 hours just to eat here again. Highly recommend the mala tofu base, the tofu was super flavorful. Service was also excellent. Pristine balance of attentiveness and privacy

I came to this restaurant in Flushing Prince St. for many years. Today I came to this restaurant with a small dog less than 10 pounds in a pet carrier. The girl with glasses came to ask for a pet ID in a rude manner when I said I only had the vaccinations for the dog. They continually ignored me and told us to leave immediately.

this place serves up some good spicy food that is perfect for a cold day. you cannot go wrong with getting a whole fish to share here. they also give complimentary drinks if you spend over a certain amount which is a plus!

Very long wait. Recommend putting your name early then walking around. The food was good. We got 2 fish for 6 people. Preferred the sea bass over the Burundi. The Burundi felt like it had less meat and more bones. The cabbage we got was great. Came out to about $40 pp for 6 people - 2 fish, rice, cabbage. Also came with a free soda tower we got passion fruit. The tower was fine but felt like there was too much syrup in it. Inside was a nice sleek look and had booths. Overall 7.5/10

I've never been to Flushing before my trip and this being the first thing I ate coming out of the subway. HONESTLY MINDBLOWN. I don't remember what I ate, but everything was different, flavorful, tingly and just amazing. I literally almost cried because it was so tasty. The staff is super attentive and nice. Honestly great place all around. You do need an adventurous palate to eat here but I promise you, it's well worth the experience.

Came here on Friday at 6PM for two and was able to be seated immediately, but when we left there was a LONG line waiting so I recommend coming early. I tried once before on a Friday around 8 and the estimated wait time was over 2 hours. We got the barramundi in the spicy tofu pudding flavor. The barramundi was super soft and well cooked and the tofu pudding flavor/broth was amaaazing. Came with a ton of soft tofu and wasn't TOO spicy or too salty but had a ton of flavor. We also added enoki mushrooms and cauliflower. I thought it was a bit expensive at $3 each but they gave you a ton of each. We also got the clam appetizer which was good but they fill the bottom of the bowl with cucumbers so you actually don't get that many clams lol. A lot of people seemed to order the sparkling water towers (like a beer tower). They were cute colors! We got the peach iced tea and it was super sweet/syrupy so we had to pour extra water into it. I would def come back to eat the fish as it's the best one I've had yet in Flushing :)

Went in on a Monday night and luckily didn't have to wait, cause last time we had to wait over 30mins. But that's one of the reasons why we love this place. Always packed, always delicious and fresh. The staffs always go above and beyond, if you ever are trying something new they'll patiently explain everything to you. I try not to but always over eat here, I just can't stop.

Hot space Trendy restaurant with lightbulbs in pipes as decor. When you walk in you are immediately greeted with the aromatics of the spices. Scan the QR code to get on the waiting line and you will receive a text when your table is ready. Lines can be long but it is definitely worth the wait. When you are seated, they give you an assortment of nuts and sunflower seeds to start off with. We ordered the Large Mouth Bass which was really delicious and that's coming from a person who doesn't really like fish. Make sure to get the vegetable combination as the sauce emulsifies them. When you are ready for the bill, they give you grass/lychee jelly to finish off the meal. Servers were really helpful in their recommendations and accommodating to our spice tolerance. I will be back next time for the frog!

This was our first time trying Grilled Fish and friends recommended Hot Space, which would be a perfect place for us. Their decor was modern and cozy. The staff was super friendly, much nicer than any other restaurants in Flushing. The options on the menu are various with great flexibility. Customers are able to choose from their entrees to sides for their grill combos. We had Barramundi as our fish with Enoki Mushroom, Cabbage, Cauliflower and Soft Tofu in garlic flavor. The portion was decent with reasonable price. The fish was cooked soft & tender and the sides in the pot were braised so flavorful. The garlic based broth was super appetizing and we couldn't stop eating until we finished all. We can feel that the owner and the staff would like to do their best from service to dishes. We will definitely visit again for other combinations shortly.

Another 5-star plus event tonight; we were getting excellent table service, our friends especially were excited and happy. Our orders: Pickled Chili Bullfrogs and Buffalo Fish in Spicy Tofu Source. It was noticeably the preparations were exceptionally well in presentation and tasty.

We decided to come here mainly because of fish and it was good. The other foods such as lamb and frogs are great too. The service was pretty good. They also have big screen for music.

Went with family to eat grilled barramundi fish. The experience reminds me of how it was like when I went to China so that could speak for the authenticity of the dishes! Definitely add the bean sheet noodles so it can suck up some of the soup to make a chewy gummy addition. The barramundi fish was soft and tender and didn't have much bones to pick through which was nice. If you order more than $100 you get a free liter of seltzer ( the passion fruit flavor is great)! At the end of the meal comes with a free grass jelly dessert though it was served to us lukewarm (it tastes infinitely times better with some ice). Also the service was really good here! Even if you don't speak Chinese the waitstaff were very accommodating and very helpful in recommending dishes.

A place, in which you can come with friends or families, for grill fish, frog or crawfish. This is a dine-in only restaurant with no takeout allow. If you can't finish, you can definitely take it to go, they will be happy to wrap it for you. We went there during dinner time and it was really busy. First floor was full so we went to the second floor. We got seated and they brought us some snacks(peanuts, some kind of roasted bean and watermelon seed). At least you can munch on something while looking through the menu. We ordered grill fish(live big mouth bass) with spicy tofu pudding flavor($59.95), pickled pepper bullfrog($58.95) and spiced live crayfish($29.95 for two pounds). Spicy pudding flavor grill fish and pickled pepper frog were pretty spicy. If you can't handle spicy, don't get either one of them! With these three dishes, it can feed up to 6 people. Big mouth fish was really tender and packed with lots of punch from the spicy sauce. They grilled the whole fish without removing any of the bones, expect lots of fish bones. Bullfrog is really popular here. If you like frog, then this is definitely a place to for. Very tender as many people said, it tastes like chicken. I am a fan. The spicy crayfish was not as spicy as the other two, but it was still spicy. They removed the front head of the crayfish. The meat was sweet and cooked perfectly. You can always ask them if it is in the season. They will tell you. As long as you order more than $100 or more, they will give you 1.5L of flavored sparkling water as a complimentary. If they didn't say anything, ask them! At the end of the meal, they will offer you sweet jelly dessert. The food and the service were great. I will be back to try out other items on the menu.

Definitely the go to place in NYC if you want to try grilled fish. Frogs are also good. Overall the food is not over-priced. The environment might not be as good as some Chinese restaurants but it has the vibe of restaurant-karaoke fusion which is not common to see in China. Pretty popular in a weekend evening.

Always a big fan! I would say the most loyal fan! I'm waiting for them to reopen the dine in, since they don't do delivery! What a restaurant with its own character! The reason they don't offer take out or delivery is that they wanna make the food is at its best condition! Anyways, if you want grilled fish, I can guarantee you here is the best! Came here for valentines day and it was great! the food had alot of flavor and the costumer service was amazing they even gave me a rose and desert at the end of my meal.

Food 5 surf clams are to die for. I would come here just for this. Garlicy and peppery at the same time, very fresh. Has bed of vegetables. Fish dish was good. WOW!! I was very impressed by this restaurant. I have tried frogs at other places in NYC but was never impressed since the frogs I've had before always had very little meat and were difficult to eat (lots of bones). The bullfrogs here are huge and very meaty. I was shocked when they brought out the huge pot of frogs and every piece of frog meat was comparable to a chicken drumstick or wing! There was lots of meat on these frogs and they were perfectly cooked. Super juicy and delicious. I love the spicy flavor! They also had really good BBQ skewers and free sparkling water (I had mango flavor). The portions were generous and my girlfriend and I had enough leftovers to last us for the next day's meals too. Highly recommend this spot if you are a fan of spicy food or frogs! AND if you think you don't like frogs, please try this spot before deciding because I thought I wasn't a frog fan until I tried this restaurant. This restaurant is dine-in only (no takeout) and was pretty busy so I'd recommend going during non-prime times to minimize any waits.

The portions are huge even though they say the fish only feeds 2 people. It can easily feed 4. There were 5 of us, and we were pretty full after devouring it. Ordered: - Big mouth bass ($55.95) - pretty good fish, wasn't too soft or firm. It soaked in the soup base well. you get to choose up to 4 toppings. We chose: chinese cabbage, enoki mushrooms, tofu, and kelp. - Double Flavor Pot ($10) - we opted for a spicy tofu pudding and a tomato base. If you order the double flavor pot, they cut the fish in half for you and split it between the broths. - Tomato Base - sweet and sour, went really well with the fish, and good option for those that can't handle spicy food. (4.5/5 rating) - Spicy Tofu Pudding Base - not too spicy even though it looks intimidating and bright red. This side definitely has a greasier broth from the layer of chili oil, but on a scale of 1-10 for spice, I would say it's around a 6-7, definitely manageable. If you have a high spice tolerance, this would most likely feel like a level 3-4. (4.5/5 rating - Complimentary grass jelly after your meal. Nice and refreshing after all the heavy flavors from the fish.

Ambiance: Hot Space is small and has a Yelp waitlist which comes in handy. We arrived just after the 12pm opening on a Saturday and had no wait time, but very quickly the restaurant filled up. This was definitely not a hole-in-the-wall, but it felt like a trendy and authentic Chinese place with pan-Asian music videos being projected on the back wall. Ordering: You mark your selections on a paper menu: a protein, flavor, and toppings (i.e. veggies, noodles). The staff was mindful enough to warn us when we arrived, that the frog was unavailable that day - worked for us because that's not what we were looking to eat. Note: normally toppings cost $3 each, and there is a four-topping "golden combination that costs $11, but our waitress allowed substitutions!!! We saved $1, score. Appetizer: They bring out a nut platter which is actually amazing. There are peanuts, broad beans, and some sort of seed. Refills available upon request. Main: We picked striped bass with spicy garlic flavor, and four toppings (Chinese cabbage, mung bean noodle, potato, soft tofu). The spicy garlic was very well seasoned, I'm not sure why some reviewers say the flavor is bland. We also ordered two cups of rice ($1 each). The bass tasted like it has been fried first then braised in the sauce, so it was flavorful. There are LOTS of bones in the fish so beware, although the Asian customers like myself don't mind fishbones. The mung bean noodles are these wide glass noodles with a somewhat chewy texture and I thought they were delicious. Dessert: They bring out bowls of milk jelly soup for everyone after the meal which I wasn't aware was included and thought this was a beautiful touch after the salty main. Normally I'm picky with my Chinese dessert soups but this was excellent. Overall this was a solid Sichuan fish casserole experience with nothing but outstanding service. My table was Vietnamese and obvs don't speak a lick of Chinese, but I did not mind that the staff tried to speak Chinese with us first, and were quick to switch to English. IMO this shows how the restaurant is very authentic yet will adapt to non-Chinese customers in a pinch, and I felt comfortable asking them questions.

We came here on a Saturday and was able to find indoor seating! Definitely call beforehand to reserve a table (they only allow reservations day of) We ordered one of the 2lb fish ($56) with potatoes (+$3), lotus roots (+$3), noodles (+$3), and something else. It came with some tofu. The dish itself was served with burners on the bottom to keep it warm. It was pretty good but I liked the added sides more than the fish itself. The fish was a bit flavorless and did not absorb any of the spicy sauce. Also, they offer rice for $1 more per bowl. We also ordered three other cold sides that were delicious! It was roughly $10 per cold dish/appetizer. We ordered the beef tripe and beef tongue, and it was really delicious. I highly recommend it. We also ordered the clams with pickled vegetables, it was perfectly cooked. The clams were not over cooked (rubbery) or undercooked (goopy), which is usually really difficult. Lastly we ordered the cold chicken in chili, very very good. We enjoyed the cold dishes more than the actual entree. Would come again for the appetizers!!

Great taste. Amazing service. I got the big mouth bass. Came with some beef, mushrooms, cauliflower, cucumbers and great spice! Also order some crawfish. All in all a great experience. They will adjust the spice level for you. Good portion of food also. Def enough for 4. Def will come back. To try the other dishes.

I went here since they first open, I see how they grow and get better and better. If my friend ask me where is good place to go for bbq fish, no doubt is here. The flavor is good as always, they have more options now. Service is very thoughtful and friendly. That's another reason why I like to keep coming back. For food, I will recommend to get sea bass fish. Less bones and soft meat , we just order too much food. But it was really tasty. Love it. See you soon!

I must say we were really impressed with the services, the staffs were super accommodating! We ordered the grill barramundi the texture of the fish was very soft and a bit spicy as well, very flavorful! we also ordered the slide beef and ox tongue in chill sauce(夫妻肺片) as appetizer it was wonderful!! Will return to try a different fish next time for sure. Highly recommended!!!!!

This is my third time going!! This became one of my favorite restaurant. Their bullfrogs with hot spicy sauce is soo well seasoned and I think I just got addicted to it . It comes in a huge pot and a fire simmering throughout and noodle and veggies could be added into the pot, with additional charges. Me and my two other girlfriends destroyed it. Soo yummy!! Will be returning for more!!

I just have to say that what stood out to me the most was the friendly staff. All the waiters and waitresses are so attentive to your needs even before you voice them. We had some kids in the group that couldn't eat spicy and they were super accommodating. They recommended the tofu pi-dan soy sauce dish which was delicious. It helped me cool down from all the heat! The kids seemed to really like the beef skewer so we ordered seconds. For the main course we ordered their signature spicy tofu base which comes with tofu! Yay! That's like a free topping right there. I enjoyed the spicy tofu very much. And then you can choose up to 4 more vegetables for a set price. Most of the vegetables were hiding under the fish so by the time we got to them, they had soaked up all those spices... wowiee. I think it was really cute of them to ask us if we wanted a lower spice level since we were americans haha and they checked in with us throughout to meal to make sure the spicy level was still okay. Forgot to mention, we got the 4lb buffalo fish. Some parts were pretty meaty and others kind of bony. I'm not a huge fan of fish but it wasn't fishy tasting and was quite palatable. The meal ended with complementary grass jelly which was yummy yummy in my tummy. Overall, a very pleasant experience.

I have always visited Hot Space in the past and after it reopen the flavor and service was as always fantastic. There were mistake with our orders but because of their great serves and delicious food I would still give it 5 out of 5. Also highly recommend their crawfish dish if available. Hope they their food and service stay the same as long as possible. 5 star recommendation. (Just when there again and just wanted to also add from time to time they will have promotion like free drink (currently) or add extra lb of crawfish in the past if I'm not mistaken but of course these are with limit of over certain amount of spending. Most I believe will go over that amount easily, like me.

Great place for grilled fish! They have so many different flavors to choose from for the fish. My husband and I usually order a fish with the classic spicy tofu flavor, and add four choices of veggies. The portion is huge and we end up eating too much every time. It's so worth it though! The service is one of the best we had in flushing. They are friendly, attentive and kind. Oh! Free dessert too! It's a small bowl of milk tea with herbal jelly. I love it! We returned so many times!
