Hotel 28 Myeongdong (Seoul, Korea) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Founded by Shin Young-kyun, formerly a leading man in South Korea’s film industry, Hotel 28 is infused with the old-world glamour of cinema. The luxury boutique hotel, centrally located in Seoul’s bustling Myeongdong neighborhood, features photogenic interiors that would function well as a film set. Its sleek suites have monochromatic decor, large circular mirrors, retro lamps, framed stills from old black-and-white movies, and dramatic glass-encased white marble baths or walk-in showers right in the middle of the room. Rounding out the hotel’s offerings are a greenery-filled bistro and wine bar, a beautifully illuminated rooftop bar, and a stylish library with a film projector, all decorated with art and objects by emerging Korean artists." - Tablet Hotels

A very clean and comfortable hotel. The room is beautiful, the bed comfy, and the minibar is free and refilled every day. It is right in the centre of Myeongdong. I had a nice view of the street outside, which I expected to be very noisy, but didn't actually bother me at all (they provide earplugs if it does bother you). It's an oasis to come back to after a day of sightseeing in the heat. Check in took a while, but it was very busy. Check in is also on the 6th floor which was confusing (I arrived late in the evening when the concierge downstairs isn't there. When he is there he is extremely welcoming though). There could be some clearer signage late at night. All staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. ||The breakfast is a small buffet and a number of Korean or international dishes you can choose from. Personally, I prefer only a buffet because you generally have a bit more choice, but the dishes were tasty. It could start a bit earlier, and stay open until a bit later (it opens at 7am and closes at 10 am with last orders at 9.30), especially in the weekend. The breakfast staff were very nice though. ||There is only one elevator which is also quite slow, so I often just walked up and down. ||Overall, I had a very good experience and would definitely stay again if I ever come back to Seoul.

Firstly, the location is unbeatable. It's right in the middle of the shopping streets which includes a night market with great street food that kicks off around 4pm every day. I loved that the area was always buzzing and lively all day and night. If you're in Seoul for skincare shopping, this spot couldn’t be better. It’s also an easy walk to the Euljiro bar area too, and I found many other attractions were walkable.||The hotel itself is beautifully designed with a movie theme that adds charm without feeling gimmicky; it's tastefully done. Everything feels modern, clean, and thoughtfully styled. The staff were lovely and super helpful throughout the stay.||Bonus points for the complimentary minibar restocked daily! I loved the honey butter almonds. And, great to have a Dyson hairdryer provided, plus lots of power points for phones, powerbanks etc.||All in all, Hotel 28 delivers a stylish and comfortable stay in a fantastic location. Would 100% go back!

We cannot put in to words how perfect this hotel is. When we stay in a thriving city we want an oasis for a hotel with a location that catches the essence of a city. Hotel28 was perfect. When you walk into the entrance you are greeted by a concierge on the first level. The lobby is on the 6th floor, all the staff were so friendly. The moment you walk in to the check-in area you know this is someplace special. It is owned by a movie star, Shin Young-Kyun, who was born in 1928. Great theme. Throughout the floors there are displays of his awards and memorabilia. We wish we could have dinner with him - he seems fascinating. At check-in you are given a bag of popcorn. The rooms are well appointed and have my gold standard of a hair dryer - Dyson. The mini-bar is included and is refreshed daily. It has beer, Soju, juices, soda, and waters. Perfect at the end of a hot day. We enjoyed the breakfast - be sure to ask for the tea explanation. We had an early tour on one day and they were able to provide a to-go breakfast. It was elegant - beautiful presentation. One of the best parts is its location. Right in the heart of Myeongdong. The night market with the best food stalls in the city, and many shops, is a 1 minute walk. The desk attendant gave us a wonderful recommendation for a Korean BBQ on last night. We are Hilton Diamond members and loyalists. The SLH is our favorite brand - you know you will be in an intimate and luxurious hotel and this hotel was true to its name. Thanks for the beautiful stay.

I usually stay at larger Hilton properties but decided to try this SLH option for our stay in South Korea. The check in process was ok, but we were assigned one of the smallest and noisiest rooms which was shabby and in need of maintenance - with not enough room even for our luggage. We managed to get an upgraded room which was much better (but staff then accidentally left some of our luggage in the old room) - my advice is to carefully check room details before booking. Many of the rooms are not ‘luxury’ in my view. The lack of recognition of my Hilton Gold status (before me directly raising it) was disappointing - this is, after all, a hotel using the Hilton brand name and loyalty should count for something. It also didn’t really live up the Hilton service level I have come to expect with front desk staff being mixed. Check in was quite poor with a distinct lack of warmth, but check out was good with a friendly gentleman arranging our taxi. Rooms themselves had all the amenities you needed. A proper Dyson hair dryer was excellent. Daily replenishment of drinks was also a very good idea. Large shower was welcome and beds were comfortable. Breakfast was mixed. Whilst there was clear focus on presentation it didn’t really cater to western tastes. The western option was an odd mix of waffles with an undercooked sausage and some egg. It was not to my taste and I would have preferred more options, or simply self serve. The fruit, juices and fresh items were all excellent though, as was the service which was quick and efficient. Whilst location was central, do be aware it’s in a very busy and noisy area - which some people will love! For me personally, I would have preferred a quieter hotel away from the hustle and bustle. On the plus side, everything was within walking distance and lots of shops and amenities near by. I also didn’t like the disjointed feel with a cafe and restaurant in the same building and the reception not on the ground floor - lots of mixing with non hotel guests. Overall it left something to be desired for me and didn’t really represent a small luxury hotel. Some of the rooms are shabby and in need of TLC. I didn’t enjoy breakfast. Front desk service was mixed. Don’t expect the same experience as a proper Hilton property.

One of the best Hilton experiences we’ve had. The room was actually a bit larger than we thought. The layout of the bath area made it easier to multitask. The breakfast at Chongdu was simply amazing. The best start to each day. And the staff are super awesome. Shoutout to the young gentleman, I believe his name is Aloy. Very helpful and very fluent in English. Made everything go much smoother. Definitely coming back to Hotel28 next trip to Korea. (I’m still wearing their bath slippers!)

I stayed in this hotel for five nights in July, and the breakfast is great. The room is small but well designed and I got one with a bathtub. Staffs are friendly and helpful. The only thing I felt the hotel is a bit lacking is the gym. It is a micro gym, you can stretch your arms and touch the wall or the mirror, plus it does not open 24 hours. The breakfast is just lovely, I love the Korean breakfast there, it is a full meal really. I love the grill fish, but there is only one type of fish I ever experienced there and it was mackerel, even though the menu said it changes. There is also laundry machines on the 7th floor. Location is superb, right in the middle of Myeongdong. Oh one more thing, the air conditioning is a bit noisy at night. Overall, I had a rather pleasant stay.

One of the best and most imaginative hotels I have stayed in for a long time. The founder’s influence is clear from the moment you walk into the hotel. The hotel’s movie theme is evident from when you step through the front door. The key card is packed as a movie ticket, the pop corn and many of the founder’s movie memorabilia from his career spanning over 300 movies tastefully presented on each floor. ||This is all backed up by very helpful staff and great rooms. The location is great. A taxi ride to Seoul station takes about 10 minutes, it is a minute walk to the airport bus and a 10 minute walk to Myeongdong station from where many day tours (eg DMZ) depart. And I almost forgot … the shops and street market are just round the corner. ||So, if you want a boutique hotel with a difference look no further.

I stayed here for the first time last week, total 2 days. Location cant get any better in Myeongdong, just a few minutes from Eujirio 1 exit. Leaving on the Airport Limo was a little further away by Sejong Hotel. However, that just means navigating ur luggage for 10mins to get to the bus stop through shopping streets - no big deal really. The hotel is Hollywood/Cinema themed. very clean and modern. But thumbs up to ALL the staff there - omg, you are overwhelmed with enthusiasim and hospitality. Loved it! All spoke very well English. Free Mini bar daily. I had 2 single beds and mattress was super comfy as was the pillows. Molten Brown shower products was divine! There is an Olive Young directly downstairs if anybody wanted to stock up and drop off before doing more shopping - IYKYK! Will definetely recommend this place to friends and family.
