"Set in busy Myeongdong, the boxy, low-slung 83-room boutique is easy to miss—look for a small black-and-gold sign by the ground-floor entrance—and it stands out for a free, creative spirit rooted in its founder, actor and politician Shin Young-kyun. Throughout the hotel I found nods to his film career, from a vintage projector in reception to a fifth-floor founder’s gallery displaying his trophies, posters, and mementos, and I loved knowing that Shin, now 97, still makes almost-daily rounds." - Katie Chang
