Great few nights in Amsterdam!
This was a good affordable hotel close to downtown.
-I arrived at the train station and took tram #4 (or 14 too) directly to the hotel, about 5-10 min tram ride.
-Entrance to the hotel is between 2 bar/restaurants, and you have to buzz reception to get let in the door. Once in the door, there is a staircase to the second floor (or first floor as they call it in europe), the staircase is wide and carpeted but the steps are narrow. Reception was good, there is some city maps and info, wifi info on the wall beside desk.
-I was room 35, on the top floor, the 5th story from the ground, or what they call the 4th floor, its only stairs no elevator, not great for luggage. The floors are divided by a glass wall and door, maybe to help sound proofing?
-My room was pretty good, it was what i paid for, the bed was good, mini fridge worked, tv worked but was not a smart TV, only had local channels. fan in the room. There is nice big windows onto the roof. There is some drinks and snacks in the mini bar, but they charge you if you eat them.
-The wash rooms are shared washrooms on each floor. The toilet is in one small "room" and the shower another small room. The toilet on the 5th floor is too close to the door, it would not work for larger people. I went and used the toilet on the floor below because of this, the one on the 4th floor is a little better. The shower on my floor was good, its basic but it had VERY good water pressure and hot water for being on the top floor and its a good size shower, not cramped. I never had a issue with other people useing the washroom or shower when i needed, and if its a emergency you can always go to a different floor.
-Location is great, its in the heart of a busy night life area, not red light district, but walking distance to down town, about 10 min. Lots of food and bars and coffee shops right outside the hotel. A tram station is right outside as well.
The negatives (im very picky and honest):
-The stairs are a bit of a challange with a suitecase, and sometimes just walking on them because they are narrow steps.
-The toilet on the 4th floor (5th story) is too close to the door when you sit down on it. it was also right outside my room door.
-The lights in the room were not very bright, and there is some light around the mirror that was not working.
-I did not hear almost any noise from the busy streets below, even with the window open, but i could hear the person in the room next to me talking on the phone in german.
