The Best Restaurants to Eat (and Drink) Around Denver on Christmas Eve or Day

"Though this historic hotel’s Christmas Day buffet on the mezzanine is already sold out, its signature restaurant, Spruce Farm and Fish, is open for brunch (7 a.m. to 2 p.m.) and dinner (3 p.m. to 8 p.m.), while its lounge, the Corner Bar, is open from 11 a.m. to midnight; in both cases, the regular menu will be rounded out by holiday specials." - Ruth Tobias, Eater Staff

We loved our stay at the Hotel Boulderado! It's a classic, Old West building that opened in 1909. They style is Italian Renaissance and Spanish Revival. It's a member of member of Historic Hotels of America, so don' t expect a modern spot, although there is another section that is newer or remodeled. I prefer the classic section since it's not every day that you can stay somewhere registered with the National Register of Historic Places. While in the lobby, I looked up to find a beautiful stained-glass ceiling spanning the area. The staff was very nice and quick with check-in/check-out. The valet attentive and reliable. We loved our room - old school and clean. There were no issues with hot water or water pressure, which is key for me in any hotel. I gave it 5 stars because I felt like I was in a throwback era, but didn't have water issues, enjoyed Aveda products and a robe (which wasn't in my last luxury hotel! We also enjoyed the restaurant that serves a brunch that runs longer than most. I took a peek at the bar and it's also classic and lovely.

My daughter and I spent a few days here at The Boulderado and it was amazing! From the warm hospitality we experienced upon checking in, to the beautifully appointed and comfortable suite, our experience could not have been better! Breakfast and Brunch are not to be missed at Spruce! Highly recommend the Boulderado Scramble, the Wild Mushroom & Mozzarella Omelette, and the House Smoked Salmon & Poached Eggs were to die for! Corner Bar is a lively and fun place to gather. We enjoyed a lite snack and the bar offers refreshing seasonal cocktails. mocktails and rotating craft beers. We loved the location, walking distance to all of the shopping and attractions of downtown Boulder. We parked our car when we arrived, and didn't need it until we checked out. Although we didn't get around to it when it was open, we snuck into the underground speakeasy License No 1 to check it out. Looks intriguing and cozy! I love history, this hotel is 116 years old, and it has several original photos and artifacts from years past displayed in the lobby and throughout the guest floors, including a vintage pinball machine that was placed in the lobby a hundred years ago for guests to enjoy. It was like walking through a museum, so cool!|Our beds were so comfortable, best night's sleep we had in months! We really just wanted to relax and spend time together, and this hotel couldn't have been more perfect for us. Anything we needed, from help with getting our phone to stream to the TV, to a microwave for re-heating leftovers, the team at the hotel was friendly, accommodating and on time! I highly recommend Hotel Boulderado and can't wait to come back!

By the time we arrived at the Boulderado, we had stayed in 14 hotels on our cross-country road trip. The hotel was dark and mysterious but the rooms are bright and cheery. ALL the staff were friendly and helpful. When we arrived, I wasn't feeling well and it was early, but the hotel staff expedited the room readiness so that I could lie down. ||We enjoyed a lovely and fun dinner at the Corner Bar...cocktails included! ||The hotel skirts the rim of Pearl Street where there's plenty of shopping and food establishments and just a few blocks from the "Mork and Mindy" house!

We celebrated our anniversary at Hotel Boulderado and couldn't have asked for a more perfect stay. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel special with a room with an incredible view, champagne, and a sweet anniversary welcome note.||The historic charm of the hotel is unmatched, our room in the north wing was fantastic with an amazing view of the mountains, newly renovated modern decor, and the bed was so comfortable. We loved walking to Pearl Street, adventuring in Boulder and Rocky Mountain National Park, enjoying cocktails at The Corner Bar, and grabbing breakfast at Spruce Farm & Fish before each adventure.||Hotel Boulderado is the perfect blend of warmth, history, and a romantic getaway. Special thanks to the GM and the great staff for making this a great experience!

My girlfriend and I just had an incredible weekend in Boulder and a large part of that was due to how great an experience we had at Hotel Boulderado! You can feel the history in every corridor and every single staff member was incredibly kind and helpful. ||Bonus—I accidentally left a couple items in my hotel room and when I called to ask they were super helpful at finding it and shipping it back to me!||Highly HIGHLY recommend if looking for somewhere to stay in the area!

I traveled to Boulder for the Bolder Boulder Memorial Day weekend. I expected the town and the hotel to be busy, and it was. I stayed in several different hotels during my Colorado trip. The Boulderado was by far the best and actually the best hotel experience I have ever had. The valet staff were the first to greet me with a warm and helping hand. Every time I left or returned, they were friendly and attentive. Upon checking in, the front desk staff were extremely kind and knowledgeable about all the questions i had about my stay. They were quick to answer the phone and help me with needs each time i called during my stay. I ordered room service on 3 separate occasions during my stay. Both of the room service attendants who came to my room were professional and cordial. Having been a room service attendant myself for a 4 Diamond hotel, I recognize great workers. The staff I interacted with exceeded my every expectation, even on one of Boulders busiest weekends. I stayed in room 421 which was on the top floor. Unfortunately, the flatiron mountain view from that room is blocked by the only tree outside the hotel in that area. It could use some light trimming around the top. Even though the view wasn't great from the balcony, the room was pleasant and comfortable. Thank you for an exceptionally memorable visit.

Perfectly located for a fun getaway in Boulder, the Hotel Boulderado is a great hotel. The location is perfect for time spend on the Pearl Street Mall, as the hotel valet will take your car so you have no parking meter worries. Don't forget to visit Hotel Boulderado's on-site restaurant, Spruce - the food and drinks are marvelous, for both a nice evening out or a delicious breakfast. ||||Hotel Boulderado is nicely situated for day trips to Rocky Mountain National Park, venues in Colorado Springs such as the Cog Railway at Pikes Peak, or the Garden of the Gods. ||||Staff at Hotel Boulderado will take good care of you. Highly recommend.

I loved our stay here. This hotel has such a cool feeling to it. It seems like it has such history. It’s gorgeous too. Apparently Stephen King had loved to stay here in the past, which as a fan that was cool to discover. The place has a presence and it tracks this would be a place he would be drawn to. The staff was extremely welcoming. The room very comfortable. I’d love to go back.

Yelp
We chose to have our Thanksgiving dinner at the Boulderado this year, on their hotel mezzanine where they have a beautiful buffet holiday meal. The restaurant off the lobby has a different, served set, of meals. It appears to me that given the size of the buffet spread, this must be done in their catering and conference kitchen, not the restaurant's. It turned out to be wonderful, in such an historic and well decorated venue. We did a different historic venue last year and though the other place had the advantage of being walkable from our home and served set meals, the main turkey meat option was a bit of a letdown. We mad a reservation weeks ago and this was such a poplar choice there were few time options than I had hoped. And though bit early for us traditionally, it worked out well. We have been to a winter wedding on this level of the hotel and to a university celebration also, but both were decades ago. It turned out that today was a perfect choice too. The 2 story lobby was decorated holiday season. The food was plentiful and though a buffet, was professionally served in various alcoves adjacent to the mezzanine. A pianist played through the meal. There were plenty of servers available too, to take and deliver drink orders, to clear tables 0f used plates and to be generally helpful. There were so many options so I am posting the printed menus. My husband and I selected whatever each of us preferred, Servings were substantial, refills or additional choices were always available. Our drink order was taken and served first, My husband had the prosecco, I had the pomegranate Alperol Spritz. It was beautiful to look at and to taste. The turkey was perfect, any choice of meat happily served by professionals. We self served the gravy and cranberry options. We both enjoyed the shrimp but there were several other seafood appetizers on a cocktail bar decorated with Ice sculpture. Neither us chose a salad though there were several options, but the other appetizers grabbed our senses first. There were dinner rolls and cornbread available. The dessert room was fun and though we were fairly full by then we each tried the pies as well as an ice cream sunday bar. But there were also cupcakes and waffles to decorate and personalize. Coffee and tea were available in this room. All in all, we so enjoyed and preferred this to last year's choice, now that our family and friends are no longer local, we have already decided to come here again next year.

Yelp
A bit rustic but certainly comfortable. Easy check in since we had prepaid everything online. Getting to the room is a little convoluted... depending upon which part of the hotel you are staying in. We had to take an elevator up to the second floor, get off, walk across a skyway to another part of the hotel, then take another elevator up to the fourth floor. The room we had was pretty spacious, fairly comfortable beds with so many pillows. The bathroom is also pretty good in size and big enough for two people at once to be in there. We didn't try any of the restaurants in the hotel but there seemed to be many options. The only real disappointment was the view. We had paid extra for a view of the mountains and I have posted a picture of what I guess they consider a "mountain view". I find it so unfortunate these days, hotels don't provide water, you have to ask them to clean your room or to get a change of towels. I understood why they did it during COVID, but that time has long since been over and it isn't as if you decreased your prices with the services. But when you charge more for a premium view and then don't actually provide it... well, let's just say there are other places to stay when in Boulder.

Yelp
PROS Nice, clean room, reasonable price (my stay $170+ tax AARP). Beautiful overall hotel. Spruce onsite restaurant was excellent. We only had breakfast and glass of wine in the evening. Servers Christie and Rose were both attentive and charming. Corner Bar onsite tavern had excellent service. Outdoor seating. Fun late-night bar (License No. 1) in the basement. Best location, just a block from Peal pedestrian walking street. Everyone throughout the hotel were very friendly. CONS We stayed in the new wing, and it is a maze to walk to/from the lobby. Expensive parking at $30/night (valet only), but I used a public parking garage a block away where SAT+SUN free. Cheap and very convenient. Only staff can handle baggage carts. Will return for sure!

Yelp
The cafe has a great selection for breakfast or lunch anytime of day. No reservations needed if there by 11:30 AM .

Yelp
Nice, quaint hotel. Parking - only have valet parking where they park your car in a lot within walking distance from the hotel. You can park in a slot near the front of the hotel for a few minutes to check in. Check In - Staff were very friendly and efficient. It's easier to check in if you have online reservations. One of the staff members even showed me the old "safe." Ambiance - The hotel has a nice stained glass ceiling. It is cozy with sofas and armchairs. The carpet though is showing its age. Otherwise, the area was clean and inviting. Rooms - the room we stayed in was clean and comfortable. The sheets were soft. The restroom was functional. Check out - The process was seamless, took only a few minutes then the valet had our vehicle ready near the entrance. Highly recommend this hotel if you are staying in Boulder. It's also within walking distance from Pearl Street and all the restaurants and stores.

Yelp
Fantastic stay of 5 nights. We were in historic side and the folks at both front desk and valet stand were so responsive and responsible!

Yelp
Great hotel with a great staff. Stayed for five nights while on training. The room was comfortable and clean (though maid service was optional, you need to leave out the tag on your door but they are good about not missing it, even if left out late morning). I was particularly impressed with how responsive the service was. I had a package delivered, they called me to tell me it arrived. I also left a charger in the room, they offered to send it to me no problem. Extensive room service menu (though twice morning breakfast tea arrived ice cold, but they did replace it). Location is also good, nice to the unique shops and restaurants that are Boulder. Looking forward to staying again.

Yelp
Avid traveler, found this hotel to be very mid at best (average), beyond that they make their guests feel average. Early checkin (2pm) late checkout met with immediate excuses. Rooms old and not modernized. I wanted to really like this place as I am a huge CU Buffs fan, I just can't. Overall you can find far better deals in newer hotels that make you feel much better than they do at the Boulderado. .

Yelp
I've stayed here a few times and always have a great experience. It is an older hotel with a lot of character. Centrally located, so you can walk to most places in town.

Yelp
Love this hotel. Marvelously restored building from the early 1900s with a new wing on the north side of the main structure. Gorgeous lobby with bars and restaurants, and one block to Boulder's famed Pearl Street mall. Location, service, atmosphere, this place has it all!

Yelp
First time having a staycation in Boulder and it definitely won't be my last time after staying in Hotel Boulderado! I'm floored by how beautiful the hotel is, and the staff is super accommodating and kind! I felt like I was in Twilight Zone riding in one of those mega old elevators but it was a neat experience. The atmosphere and interior design is just so lovely and cozy, I definitely plan on staying more days the next time we visit. The room itself was so spacious and just as pretty as the lobby. Their bed is one of the comfiest. Definitely one of the best hotels I've visited. Wish I remembered to take pictures of our room. The aesthetic is top notch here.

Yelp
I LOVED my stay at the Boulderado. it was first class. I stayed in the historic wing of the hotel. if your going to stay in a historic hotel I wanted to truly have the experience. The folks at Boulderado made me feel so at home and pampered. From the front desk, the valet parking attendants, and a special thanks to Laurel the Boulderado historian who made my visit complete. She took me on a private tour of the hotel with an emphasis on the famous musicians who have made the Boulderado their home away from home.
google avatar

Sheila B.

Yelp
We had reservations for the weekend that Excel shut power to the city of Boulder due to high winds. The hotel had no power. We had to cancel unfortunately. The front desk was very helpful and took care of all the processes. The hotel itself is beautiful!

Yelp
The historic charm of the Hotel Boulderado is undeniable. We enjoyed our stay in the historic wing with touches like an attendant operated elevator. The Spruce was a great place for an evening snack and cocktails and for breakfast in the morning. The staff, from valet to front desk, were welcoming, warm, and efficient. On our way to our room we noticed a sign in the hallway, "Renovations in Progress". How bad could that be? After all there was no mention of it when we booked our reservation nor when we checked in. Well, we found out when the power tools started and workers were discussing the day's logistics outside our door at 7:00 AM. So annoying to be woken in that manor. And it is disappointing that a hotel of this caliber would just shrug this off when brought up at check out. A great hotel. Just be sure to inquire about the noise level at your room.

Yelp
Ny husband & I are from Houston & stayed at the Hotek Boulderado from Houston in 2017 and loved this historical hotel! On 5/10/24 my daughter and I stayed in Denver but drove to Boulder for the day. We visited the lobby for a happy hour and they had a jazz band & light bites. The hotel bar and restaurant were super busy so the lobby bar was perfect. Hotel is a block from the popular Pearl Street Mall. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit!

Yelp
Beautiful and historic hotel in a great location in Boulder. The times I have stayed there I have stayed in the newer building. The rooms are spacious, updated with a small refrigerator. No complaints. The corner bar and the lower level is a great place for drinks and a small bite to eat. I spent my Sunday night there watching the Chiefs game. You can valet before your room is ready which is very convenient. They will also hold onto your luggage and bring it up to your room. The skywalk is away for you to get to the lobby to the newer building. Highly recommend for its location, friendly staff and great accommodations. I can't say enough for the hotel lobby desk and especially the young men working at the valet. Great customer service!

Yelp
Second year going for bus trip. One spot where I give up getting marriott points bc I like this old west beautiful space especially in Dec w gorgeous lobby and tree. Good lunch and dinner. Enjoy sleeping in newer wing on side facing alley for little more quiet. Good bed and pillows and towels and aveda products. Kind staff. One young valet impolite but most of staff very helpful and friendly. Room 322 nice. 4 floor better bc can hear occasionally footsteps above. Prob will ask rooms around 427, 428 in future.

Yelp
I love this hotel. it is very different from the usual corporate hotels. First of all it is conveniently located in downtown Boulder near Pearl Street. This 100-year old building is perfectly maintained and restored. most of the rooms are in a modern annex that maintains the vibe of the original building but have totally up to date features. These rooms are relatively large with modern bathrooms. There is a pleasant first floor bar and a restaurant plus a lower level clubby bar with live music. The workout room is small with minimal equipment, but the hotel offers complimentary access for diehards to a commercial gym two short blocks away. Hotel staff are also way more pleasant and accommodating than the usual crew in other hotels. This includes friendly desk staff and bar and restaurant wait staff. The off-season prices are comparable to the corporate hotels, but sadly are doubled during the high seasons.

Yelp
Definitely hits and misses with this hotel. This last visit is probably my third or fourth. The day of our arrival while we were still at airport we received a call saying the hotel was oversold and we were being moved from a King suite to a Queen suite. Why us? The staff member said the hotel was oversold when we booked. Really? It was oversold six months ago when we booked?? This wasn't the CU family weekend so didn't seem particularly credible. Like another reviewer noted the hotel has some construction. We were also woken up one morning at 7:30 am by construction tools above us. I will say the reception staff immediately apologized, went to speak to a manager, and gave us two breakfast gift certificates. We asked and were approved for a late checkout until noon. As we were packing up, I heard voices a bit too clearly, leaned into my room's hallway to find my door was wide open with a young man in a hotel uniform in the door way. I asked him if he opened my door and he emphasized *he* didn't so I assume one of the cleaners who ran off. Creepy that he didn't knock, apologize or make his presence known. For the most part we used the stairs, but sometimes needed to use the Otis elevator which requires staff. The buzzer was silent which was odd, but we waited. Additional people waited. After 10-15 mins we finally went over to the desk and the staff member dismissed our concerns. Finally, one sharp staff member noticed that the crowd didn't seem right, investigated, and of course the elevator had been stuck. We ate at Spruce for breakfast twice. The food and service was good. We also enjoyed License One and it was a lot of fun. Also made use of the gym. It is very small, but functional. The hotel is a great location with some wonderful amenities. Some staff interactions were excellent and some lacking. I found some beds more comfortable than others, but the rooms have always been clean. I

Yelp
Charming vintage hotel with a great pub-like restaurant. Great menu and tasty food. Close to Pearl Street Mall.

Yelp
We had a wonderful stay at the Hotel Boulderado. The service, ambience and location make this hotel the best place to stay in Boulder. The history of this hotel has been well maintained. We had a great happy hour at the Corner bar downstairs and there is a nice restaurant as well. We had a suite on the 3rd floor, it was so nicely decorated. I look forward to staying here again in the future. I highly recommend this hotel when in Boulder.

Yelp
This was not the hotel we stayed at while we were in Boulder, however our friends wedding venue was at this hotel. And most of the guest also stayed here. This hotel is known as one of Boulders oldest landmark. It is located downtown just a block away from Pearl Street Mall. The hotel looks like it's still in it's beautiful historic state. When you walk in you will see a beautiful stained glass atrium. The hallways, stairways and doorknobs looks to be part of that history as well. The wedding venue was centered around the banister over looking the atrium. It was really quite amazing. The food served was buffet style. I loved the salad and the veggie/vegan options. Of course they also serve chicken, prime-rib, and seafood galore. They served all the types of food for everyone to enjoy! I love that the hotel was connected to two bars for their guests to enjoy. Even though the hotel was located downtown it was not hard to find parking. There were street parking everywhere and a public parking. And get this maximum parking is worth $3.00!!! What?!? Super cheap in my opinion!!! Anyway, if ever in Boulder Hotel Boulderado is one I would recommend. Next time I come visit I will have to stay at this hotel!!!

Yelp
On a getaway for one night to Boulder, we were lucky to have picked the Boulderado Hotel. The valet parking was efficient and welcomed on a cold night. The Christmas decorations and jazz music sublime. They sat us right away at the restaurant and when I complained about it being cold at the window, promptly offered to turn up the heat. The drinks and food at the hotel restaurant were very good. Afterwards, we sat in the lobby drinking tea under a large beautifully decorated tree listening to live jazz music. The hotel room was fine and when the shower mechanism didn't work, the manager gave us credit off our bill cementing our lovely weekend away in Boulder. We will be back!

Yelp
The good: Hotel is a historic building and definitely worth visiting the lobby, the original photography for the authentic experience. The location can't be beat walking distance to anywhere if in downtown Boulder. The cons: The Internet is poor. Wifi is weak in the room. The room wasn't very comfortable given its commitment to stay with the historical theme, paper thin walls and flimsy doors that slam. Chairs in the room are old and uncomfortable- desk is an antique and therefore practically useless as a work desk. This is the type pf hotel you come to for one night or two to experience the location and history, but don't expect it to be practical or high end. I

Judy T.

Yelp
I have enjoyed many events at The Boulderado, so this is a three star rating instead of a one star. The holiday high tea on December 27 was very one star. Mediocre food at best and the buffet for savory foods is not in the high tea tradition. Everything was dry and relatively tasteless - both savory and sweet, the wait staff inexperienced, and my guests and I felt unwell when we got home. The staff were trying hard, the decorations were beautiful, and the music was lovely. The food was not. At all.

Sandy Z.

Yelp
We had a great time staying here at Christmas. Beautiful decorations. Friendly staff. Overall a very nice stay!

Yelp
Admittedly, It's been a while since we were here and I've mostly forgotten much about the stay. It's a trip into the past with the way the rooms are decorated...much like it was back in the early part of the 1900s. The lobby here is super cool and they have a water fountain directly from a mountain run off. There's parking nearby which we took advantage of to avoid paying the overnight fee. The restaurant service was a bit slow but the food and selection was good. We didn't have any interactions with the front desk staff other than at check in and as I recall that went well. The highlight for me was the very interesting lobby; we sat and people watched a lot. Riding in the elevator was a treat as well...it is staffed by one of the workers so you do have to wait until they are available. If you're into nostalgia for a time gone by, you might enjoy it here. It's not cheap, but it's an experience.

Jean C.

Yelp
Beautiful hotel and convenient location but they do not have their act together! Front desk staff was not particularly welcoming let alone friendly. We waited waaaay past check in time to be let into our room. Find someplace else the next time you come to town!

Yelp
I stayed at the Hotel Boulderado and had a great time! The staff was sooo nice and made me feel very welcomed. I love the old timey feel of the hotel and immediately started sending my family pictures from the hotel. I love the pictures that are hanging around the hotel that share the history and the displays with different historical outifts. The room I stayed in was wonderful as well. I hope I can come back some day with my husband and share this experience with him! So much fun :)

Steve H.

Yelp
A wonderful hotel in the heart of Boulder, an easy walk to shops and restaurants and a quick drive to fantastic hikes. The hotel is older but has a unique charm, friendly staff and if you are looking for a gym, free access to a local fitness club. We stayed here 5 or 6 timers. Only reason to not give a 5 star was the attitude of one of the lady's serving in the Spruce restaurants bar. She had not got a sense for the hotels values and as our party of 7 walked out of the bar area thanks to the way we were treated on May 11th we overheard one of her colleagues saying that the same employee had just upset another customer. It is unfortunate how one person can leave such a strong impression.

Yelp
We needed to stay one night in Boulder before embarking on a 3-day drive back to Georgia. I shopped around and this place stood out. Fees weren't ridiculous and it was a 'historic hotel', so I booked it. There is only valet parking available but they do let you park briefly for loading and unloading. To avoid fees and make it convenient, we let our daughter keep the car overnight and skipped the valet. We got dropped off and were able to lug our rolling suitcases up a handicapped ramp to the main desk. Note: you'll first encounter the valet desk to your right as you enter; however, check-in is in a side room to your left. We were able to check in and were asked if we wanted to take the elevator to our 2nd floor room. We said 'yes' and one of the staff had to operate it. It is a ~ 100-year old Otis elevator complete with a sliding grate/cage thing inside. I'm sure if patrons were left to themselves, various fingers / hands / arms / what-have-you would get removed, so I understood their caution. And at least this elevator works, in contrast to another historic hotel with a similar feature where we stayed last year... We had to cross the 'sky bridge' to a newer annex, where our room was located. The room was nice; roomy enough to open our suitcases. We were initially concerned a bit due to the noise from the dining patio beneath the window. They were playing music down there, but by 9 p.m. or so it cut off or was de-volumed. The room had a refrigerator, but no microwave. We got a good night's sleep there. My only complaint involves our checking out. We noted that there were modern elevators in the annex. So, we opted to descend to the first floor in hopes of exiting to the street and then getting to the main desk. No! There didn't seem to be any direct exit from the bottom floor of the annex (?). We had to go back up, cross the sky bridge again, and then lug the suitcases down the Grand Staircase to the lobby. While I will concede that it it grand, if you have to carry things down it, the thrill quickly dissipates... There also seemed to be a lot of shops and restaurants within an easy walk of the hotel, though we were not there long enough to take advantage of that. If I returned to Boulder, I'd consider staying here again.

Yelp
Walking through the doors (despite the mask signs) was like stepping back in time. The furniture accentuated the rustic feel. The woodwork was unchanged and in beautiful condition and the ceiling stain glass is beautiful and charming. I could almost hear the voices of the past carry down the hallways that are decorated in antique relics and furniture! The rooms are charming- like staying at grandmas house. They leave fresh flowers in the room which is really a nice touch. I suffered from altitude sickness my first night. I waited at the only elevator which is the original Otis elevator, for an attendant to bring me to my floor and nearly fainted. The lovely young lady helped me to my room. The staff is friendly, the hotel is clean. I wish I could stay longer.

Yelp
Aw...the good old Boulderado! I can't help but view this hotel from two time vantages: (1) from when I was an undergrad at CU (and a good friend worked behind the hotel bar) and (2) when I came here recently with my family to see if my eldest wanted to attend CU herself. (She chose another school in the end; but we had a fine trip nonetheless). It can best be described as what it most obviously is: a historic hotel in a college town. It's not super high-end and exclusive. It is nice, with an edge of eclectic and funky. And it certainly is a notable building, with the dated architectural flourishes one would expect from a hotel built in 1909. As for our trip: Our arrival was welcoming; our room was comfortable; and the location was stellar, being a mere block off Pearl St (and walking distance to all of downtown). When we weren't visiting the CU campus we were happy to keep the car parked for most of our visit. Best of all was that the overall feel of the place, for me, had not changed much since my former years in Boulder. Not all of the structure is historic; they added a new wing since I was here as a student. But you'd never know to look at it, since they did an excellent job of blending the new with the old. We stayed in the newer section, but this never felt obvious. The Boulderado is not the nicest hotel I've ever stayed at. Our room was a little pricey for what it was; and the parking was limited to street-metered or valet ($20/day plus tips). But if staying in Boulder again it would probably be my first choice.

Yelp
Don't Order Room Service Ordered through the Boulderado Hotel for Breakfast the night before. Was to arrive at 715. Started to call at 745 for status and was told 10 minutes repeatedly. Went down and asked status and was told it was on its way. Finally at 845 manager said "Yeah guess we lost your order". Clueless, awful service. They don't get it at all here. Tried to address with Boulderado management and was told it was "separate".

Yelp
Why this hotel thinks charging $309 per night is appropriate is absolutely beyond me. My room was nice but certainly nothing special. AC was noisy, view out the windows was an ugly parking lot, higher floors (I was in the north wing on the ground floor) were 'not available', WiFi did essentially not work and as other reviewers mentioned, management did absolutely nothing about it. Oh, and the lobby reeked of cheap bathroom cleaner that front desk strangely could not smell. Since I was here for a business meeting, I would never want to stay here on my own dime. What a ripoff!

Yelp
This hotel impressed with art, history, fabulous rooms, and good eats. We stayed in the Presidential Suite, the classic Victorian decor and fine furniture was like stepping back in time but with a modern twist. Comfy plush bed with wonderful views of the Flat Irons and charming downtown Boulder. The hotel's restaurant Spruce has really yummy New England Clam chowder and seafood entrees. For brunch, we liked their eggs Benedict and French toast. It's a nationally registered historic hotel in a perfect location in downtown Boulder, just 1 block from Pearl Street. If you prefer contemporary style rooms, book a room on their North wing. Check this place out, it's truly unique!

Yelp
Lovely historical hotel in downtown Boulder. We booked on a third party site and when we checked in they said we didn't have a reservation for that night. They upgraded us to a suite which was nice. Large lovomg area, bedroom, and bath. Super comfy beds, pillow, and sheets. Very nice staff and wonderdul breakfast at the inhouse restaurant. Walking distance to many bars, restaurants and shops. Would not hesitate to stay here again.

Yelp
The hotel is charming, however, some of the staff should NOT be working in hospitality. This is my personal review of the rare situation that happened to me, but I do believe it shows the true character of some of the staff running the Hotel Boulderado. Recommendation for the hotel - you are nothing close to a 'pet-friendly' hotel so I encourage you to remove it from your website and stop accepting pets altogether. This is the least pet-friendly hotel I have ever stayed at. A pet-friendly hotel has water and treats waiting for the pets as they arrive, dog bags outside, and treats pet owners with respect. Please stop accepting pets so other guests don't ever have to experience what I experienced. For the dog-friendliest city in America, this is not the place you want to bring your pup. If you don't have your dog with you and had I not been stuck in this situation, I think I would likely give them somewhere around a 4-star rating. Also, a lot of the staff was very kind, especially the man working the elevator. This is isolated to the receptionist that evening and the hotel manager. I visited a few months ago and had my dog with me, I called ahead of time, and all was good with the hotel. They put me on the first floor, where pets are allowed to stay. She is well trained, and I have never had an issue with her at a hotel before this, but dogs can have a mind of their own as some of you might be well aware. While I went to get ice, the door was cracked, and my dog slipped out. I understand I was at fault and am was fully aware that I might get hit with a fee due to the paperwork I filled out when checking in. I did hope for a forgiveness or at a minimum...kindness like, "yes, mam, I'm sorry but rules are rules and I have to charge you." At least that's what I would have personally said. But that was not what happened at all. Here was the issue... I am NOT a confrontational person and always try to follow the rules, I've never even had a ticket in 20 years of driving! After the incident, I went to the front desk to sincerely apologize for what happened and I did apologize and said I accepted the fee. But it doesn't end there... In response, the receptionist made an extremely rude comment about the type of dog parent I was. Side note: Fur parents, am I the only one that loves my dog more than anything? I doubt it. I don't have kids, this is my child. For someone to comment on my dog parenting skills flipped a switch inside of me. She had no right to talk to me that way or tell me I was a bad dog parent. I knew I was in the wrong, but at that very moment, I became a defensive person and said something in response I shouldn't have and regretted. She then said the exact same thing back to me. THEN the manager of the hotel standing in the corner jumped in and said, "get the *blank* out of my hotel!" Then proceeded to follow me to make sure I was packing. I didn't hear this personally, but my friend said he also asked him if he wanted to go to jail that night. WHAT!? Okay to wrap up my review, they charged me $360 for the incident, didn't let me stay in the hotel, and left me with nowhere to go at 11 pm. I paid almost $700 for this ridiculous fiasco. Stay elsewhere pet parents!

Yelp
I like how there's tables away from bar and in hotel area. Bartender was really nice and accommodating. Nice atmosphere with dim lighting that gives a quiet historical boulder vibe despite how busy it is. 4 stars.

Yelp
Service was so poor- took us 10 minutes to get drinks- 40 minutes in and my food arrived and 15 minutes later my husband still had no food. We asked for our check and we're given the wrong bill. No remorse, no apology.

Yelp
1. First, I travelled globally for business for over 30 years. I've stayed in many of the better and best hotels in NYC, Wash., D.C., San Francisco, Boston, LA, Florida, Texas, Mexico City, London, Paris, Beijing -- you get the idea. I've also said in some marginal places. I know my hospitality. The Boulderado ranks among the worst on delivering good hospitality. I stayed in a youth hostel in China that cared more. The rooms are furnished in a failed attempt at antique mall chic. The staff is pretentious in the worst way. My room was so small that when I entered the door to the room banged against the open bathroom door. On one side, the bed was 15" from the window drapes and on the other less than 12" to a small chair (the ONLY chair) that I could not imagine how one could sit in. 2. When you arrive, they tell you in the interest of being green, of which I'm all in favor, they won't clean your room unless you ask. That's fine. What they mean is that they didn't bother to thoroughly clean before you arrived. There were ants crawling around on the bathroom floor and into the carpeted area of the room where I couldn't trace their origin. Where there are friendly conditions for ants, bed bugs and mice can't be far behind. I didn't see any of those, but you have to wonder, and when you wonder, it just ruins your stay. 3. When you arrive, with a cutesy sort of intro, they say you can ride in their antique elevator. What they mean is that they don't have a full service elevator to get you to your top floor room. I'm 70, and I saw/helped folks older than I struggling up those stairs because they didn't want to wait for the tiny, old elevator. That's embarrassing for any hotel and there should be a warning in case you have knee, hip or oxygen issues. 4. As I said, this sort of experience ruins your stay. Since the mid-90s, I've stayed at the Boulderado half a dozen times, as well as other hotels and private rentals in Boulder on many more occasions. The Boulderado has really gone downhill but, so has Boulder. Pearl Street is a theme park version of its former self, with many vacancy signs in boarded windows. It lacks the raw vibrance it used to have. Touring around my old haunts in Boulder I saw an uncomfortable number of for sale signs in yards. Are people getting out while they can? I can't imagine returning myself. Thanks Boulderado. This one's on you.

Yelp
Unfortunately I made a reservation at this hotel via phone on my way to Boulder for business. This hotel said there were no additional fees, I asked more than once and they gave me my total & assured me there were no additional charges. When I arrived they do not have "any" parking and there's an additional fee of $30 a night for your car. I asked why they didn't tell me that? I explained that my company does not cover valet so I would not have chosen to stay here had I known. The managers name is Taurus , he had zero desire to help with this, and just kept saying "no I'm not going to assist with that fee because you're coming at me" as if he was emotional or angered by me explaining. I was informed my reservation was non refundable. I spoke to Rachel who wanted to help but Taurus wouldn't let her. He is very unprofessional & rude and arrogant with zero interest in customer satisfaction.

Yelp
This historic downtown hotel provided us with meeting rooms and sleeping rooms for our group of 11. Parking was a bit on the pricey side at $25 per day valet, but we received a discount for our group, so the price was in line. There is also self park in city lots nearby. The sleeping rooms are gorgeous, tastefully redecorated with modern conveniences. This hotel dates back to 1908 and is part of the Historic Hotels of America. My room was completely modernized, had a king sized bed, 3 comfortable chairs with a small a side table (where I found chocolates ). The coffee maker is two sided, and stocked. There is a small fridge, a desk and a decent sized flat screen TV. I liked the two separate sink areas, one in the bath area, and one in the hallway which hosted the coffee maker, ice bucket and fridge. The location is one of the best things about the hotel: it is walking distance to Pearl Street, one of the most fun areas of the city of Boulder. Did you know that the first liquor license in the city of Boulder was given to the historic bar in the basement of this hotel? The bartenders will tell you the story! Food at the hotel was above average, but we have just had catered things to our meeting room. The meeting room we are in is a little tight for our group of 11, but they say it can hold 18, yikes! However, it's quiet, and cozy, and my personal favorite...very close to the restroom! I would like to stay here again, and have a meeting here again!

Yelp
Really incredible and unique event venue. Super historical and restored to original condition. It's like magically going back in time. Everything about it is super cool!

Yelp
I stayed a night at Hotel Boulderado during a weekend getaway. After a day of hiking the state's beautiful trails, checking into the hotel for a luxury night-in was heaven! The interior has remnants of the past. From their original Otis elevator to the gorgeous stain glass ceiling, it was like stepping into a different place and time. It's a historic hotel for a reason and staying in their historic wing is a must! With all the amenities of today's modern hotels (TV, WiFi, coffee pods, fitness center), the hotel stands out with their rooms' period piece furniture and decor. And I was fortunate enough to stay in a room with a beautiful Mountain View. The hotel is also steps (about a block) away from Boulder's main strip, Pearl Street Mall, if you're in the mood for shopping or trying their diverse selection of eateries.

Yelp
Hotel Boulderado is a gorgeous late Victorian building, but the service STINKS !! Many rude. (Some nice.). I ask manager of outside bar if my party of three could move to empty table away from street noise, and he spit in my face NO ! There is a huge noisy wedding outside my room (this is a wedding venue and they have event inside by bank of rooms)! I asked for help and they refused. NOT guest friendly !!!

Yelp
Let me start off by saying this hotel should have nothing but five stars for reviews. I noticed that there was some negative reviews on yelp about this hotel so I had some reservations when me and my wife decided to spend our honeymoon there and find out the hotel, the staff, the food everything was amazing place is beautiful the rooms are clean the restaurants are awesome and the customer service again was amazing. I feel the reviews are negative because well they're in Boulder and Boulder has some very snobby people so stay at this hotel. Ignore all the negative reviews this place rocked.

Yelp
The one star is for the location which is excellent. Everything else is beyond subpar. Rude front desk, poor customer service, mediocre restaurant and horrid overpriced rooms. We paid $735 to stay for two nights in a small dank room that smelled, had dirty carpet and garage sale reject furniture. Really bad.

Yelp
The place is beautiful and historic, but if you're wanting even halfway decent customer service, you're going to the wrong place. The management and people at the front desk all make it very clear that you're an inconvenience to them. I spent quite a bit of time behind a front desk myself and if I acted anywhere near how they did I would have been fired. The management should be fired as well. Despite the fact that we coordinated our trip with them months in advance, they got everything wrong. They jeopardized our wedding and did nothing to make it right. If you care about being treated right in any way, don't stay here.
