"There may be no finer view of the city skyline than from atop the 100-year-old Hotel Clermont on Ponce. The astroturfed lawn decked out with loungers and an outdoor bar serving frozen drinks and street food beneath the iconic neon sign is hard to beat. Guests of the hotel and neighborhood residents have preferred access to the rooftop. Diners at Tiny Lou’s or those simply wishing to head up for drinks on a warm evening must check in with the front desk." - Eater Staff, Henna Bakshi
"Not all that long ago, Atlanta’s Clermont Hotel was famous for two things: the landmark sign on its rooftop radio tower, and the Clermont Lounge, a legendary slice of nightlife in the basement. Both still exist, and the hotel has been thoroughly renovated as a sparkling clean 94-room boutique hotel with 1920s character. The look is retro-influenced but not old-fashioned, with Art Deco and mid-century modernist influences. Up above, the rooftop bar with far-ranging views and a colorful crowd of locals and guests. Inside the hotel, at MICHELIN-Recommended Tiny Lou’s, French classics mingle with American comfort food on a menu that showcases Georgian ingredients and Southern style." - The MICHELIN Guide
"Atlanta’s landmark Hotel Clermont turns 100 years old Sunday, October 6, and it’s celebrating the one way it knows how: a mega party. The Atlanta Mayor’s office will present a plaque to the hotel on Sunday morning, recognizing this milestone for the iconic property. The hotel houses French-American brasserie Tiny Lou’s and a rooftop bar, both of which will host celebration events. Hotel Clermont began as a motor lodge in the ‘20s and has now become a vibey destination in Atlanta. It’s impossible to talk about the hotel without mentioning what dwells at the base of the establishment — the equally iconic Clermont Lounge, Atlanta’s first and oldest strip club established in 1965. It’s owned entirely by women and known most famously for the beer-can-crushing entertainer, Blondie. “I feel like it’s a big reason why so many people love the hotel is that we’re the hotel above the Clermont Lounge,” says Grace Mendez, Hotel Clermont’s general manager. “We always want to make sure we stay true to that and honor everyone that works down there. I mean, we call them like our fun aunt that lives in the basement.” Hotel Clermont survived a century perhaps because of its ability to adapt to Atlanta. Mendez says the hotel has evolved from an apartment building, a motel, and the iteration it is now — an artsy, loungy, retro glamazon of a hotel. “There’s truly not a demographic of people that comes in with Clermont. Every single type of person that you can think of is in Clermont having the best time. That’s very Atlanta; it’s so diverse, it’s so fun,” says Mendez." - Henna Bakshi
"Driving down Ponce de Leon Avenue, Hotel Clermont isn’t difficult to spot. The six-story, century-old brick building is topped with a sixty-five-foot radio tower bearing the Clermont name—an original relic that came down years ago but was proudly resurrected at the hotel’s splashy grand opening in 2018. At the check-in desk, you’ll be greeted with a free cold PBR, a tribute to the can-crushing dexterity of the notorious Blondie, who works the legendary lounge downstairs. Accommodations range from roomy suites to double-bunk rooms—nodding to the ones once favored by traveling bands staying at the Clermont Motor Lodge. Velvet headboards, lightbulb sconces, and record players add vintage appeal, and moody portraits by Atlanta College of Art graduate Sharon Shapiro were inspired by the Clermont Lounge dancers. The Hotel Clermont caters to a decidedly discriminating crowd, thanks to its top-notch service, upscale amenities, and celebrated restaurant." - Allison Weiss Entrekin
