The 18 Essential Restaurants in Vorarlberg, Austria

"If you fancy a bit of history with your dinner, head to Alter Goldener Berg in Lech, a 500-year-old inn, which has been in owner Daniela Pfefferkorn’s family for decades, located in a local historical monument. The restaurant has all the traditional recipes and dishes you would expect in a stuben (tavern), but all the locals cross-country ski their way to the restaurant for the fondue; almost similar to hot pot, the house speciality features local lake fish that guests cook at the table in hot broth. But if you want to be where the party is during the winter, head out to the Panorama Sun Terrace and order an apple martini, Negroni, or Rob Roy (or a smoothie, a specialty of Pfefferkorn’s) to kickstart your après-ski session with some new friends." - Michelle Tchea

Hotel Goldener Berg (Lech am Arlberg, Vorarlberg) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Hotel Goldener Berg, a blissful mountain retreat on the slopes of Austria’s Arlberg Ski Area, is delightful year-round, whether you’re here to walk through fragrant flower meadows, soak up sunshine on the terraces, or watch the snow fall through floor-to-ceiling windows. Inside, the look is classic alpine luxury hotel with a boho-chic twist: wood paneling and colorful patterned fabrics, mid-century modern furniture, and faux-fur accents. Guest rooms have parquet floors and private balconies; higher-end suites have terraces with views of the snow-capped mountains. There’s an outdoor hot tub and a spa with an indoor pool, as well as a plant-based restaurant, serving locally produced cheese and wine in an open-air setting with sweeping views of the surrounding landscape." - Tablet Hotels

The positive remarks first: the staff of the hotel is very friendly and competent. The location of the hotel is very good...you walk out of the door and are in the middle of a beoutiful landscape. The highlight of the hotel by far is the large wellness center with an indoor pool that leads to a beautiful infinity outdoor pool, overlooking a spectacular mountain scenery. |The breakfast is very varied and very good. Dinner is good too, the menu itself has not too much choice for vegetarians. |Whats very much missing, however, is a mini-bar in the room, apparently to maintain an ECO standard. Offering by the reception to keep brought items cool is comlicated. |This also goes for the lack of coffee and tea making facilities in the room. One can rent a Nespresso machine with 4 (four) coffee capsules for Euro 15.--. Very unusual for a 4-star hotel. |All in all, we enjoyed our stay and can recommend it.

We had our wedding weekend here and it was truly perfect. Everything came together beautifully – the stunning venue, the beautifull rooms, the delicious food, the warm and attentive service, and the overall atmosphere made the entire weekend unforgettable. We were able to let go and enjoy every single moment. We will definitely be coming back!

My family and I just came back from a six night stay at this lovely hotel, and it could not have been more wonderful. The staff is amazing, location superb, food delicious, and the ambiance unparalleled. Rooms are very comfortable. Spa is the perfect way to relax after a beautiful day of skiing. High recommend the outdoor pool. Many comfortable and welcoming places to relax and unwind.

Great lunch on the terrace, big improvement over the last couple of years. All the food was great especially the bbq stuff. Don’t order the mont d’or it’s nice but small for €40! Otherwise great service and lovely food. And the view is amazing.

We had a wonderful experience at the restaurant. Warm and impecable service, beautiful salons and panoramic view. Started with delicious drinks with Oyster platter, then a surprising unexpected salad bar to share with perfect Salmon carpaccio and great beef Tataki. We will come back certainly, beacause the vegan brownie with caramelized hasselnuts is unforgetable.

€9+ for a 400ml beer, ends up nearly double what you would pay elsewhere. So wouldn’t recommend it for a casual drink.

Review of the restaurant for lunch while skiing: Veal schnitzel was better than expected after reading other reviews. It’s a little on the expensive side at €42 but tasted freshly made and was veal rather than pork. Potatoes were good. Soup was ok, not the tastiest we’ve had and on the expensive side for a smaller than average portion. Cheese dumplings were nice. Service was ok. We would only stop again if could guarantee a table at the edge with a view. Otherwise there are many other places to choose instead.

Yelp
One of the greatest experiences in life is having a meal or drink on the sunny terrace of the Hotel Goldener Berg. It's like being in a glamorous James Bond movie. The food is well made. I particularly love their creamy pumpkin soup with Alpine Cheese croutons! The staff were quite friendly and spoke good English so we felt extremely welcome. Highly recommend!
