Our Favorite Hotel Restorations From the Past Year

"Hotel Indigo Bath is a fine demonstration of how the IHG-owned Hotel Indigo brand does it best: take a type of building that’s characteristic of its setting, in this case a row of honey-colored Georgian townhouses dating to 1740, and transform it into something that’s roughly one part modern luxury-hotel sheen and one part authentic local color." - Mark Fedeli

"The IHG-owned Hotel Indigo brand is a global concern, but it’s probably fair to say that its finest and most fully realized hotels are close to home, in the UK. Hotel Indigo Bath is a fine demonstration of how it’s done: take a type of building that’s characteristic of its setting, in this case a row of honey-colored Georgian townhouses dating to 1740, and transform it into something that’s roughly one part modern luxury-hotel sheen and one part authentic local color." - Tablet Hotels

From the moment we arrived, the staff were so welcoming. Our second floor room was clean, spacious and well decorated, with gorgeous but unique fittings. We had a walk in shower the had both a drench head and regular fitting. The central location of this hotel, was perfect for our mini break. A five minute walk from the railway station and city centre. We used the vault gym during our stay, it provided us with everything we needed and was a really lovely space to be in. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough!

We cannot fault our stay at Hotel Indigo, Bath. We were greeted so warmly by Emily & Alberto. Our vaulted room was incredible!! It was spacious, clean, comfortable & it had the biggest bath tub we've ever seen!! The hotel is located close to the city centre & was only a short stroll to the famous Roman Baths. In the evening, we spent some time in the bar & had some delicious cocktails. Check-out was quick & easy. We would absolutely recommend Hotel Indigo, Bath & we are definitely looking forward to staying again one day.

The rooms we stayed in were wonderful tunnel like rooms that may have been used for storage way back in day. They do tend to pick up the outside sounds especially if your room is next to the service lift. See the attached video. The room was lush with bathrobes, fluffy towels, free mini bar (well, we wouldn't put it there if we didn't want you to enjoy it ❤️). Honestly, the noises at 9am from the service lift didn't bother us. It had a perfect location! The city parking opposite the hotel worked out well for us. If I was returning to Bath I would certainly stay here again!

Absolutely brilliant from beginning to end. As soon as we walked in the door, Heidi on reception greeted us with a huge smile and warm welcome. The hotel is in a brilliant location, easy of parking (and station if needed) and everything is walking distance, but its also quiet at the same time. I requested balloons as it was my partners birthday (I paid an addition fee) and the hotel did a fantastic job and provided a lovely Happy Birthday card too. The decor is very tasteful and quirky, with everything in the room laid out perfectly. Brilliant facilities within the room and great shower, even with a speaker in the bathroom. Highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Bath :)

Travellers appreciate location and access to nearby sites, transport, restaurants etc - Hotel Indigo ticks the lot! More importantly, the staff at this hotel are simply fabulous - helpful, pleasant, friendly, knowledgeable, well presented and have that 'vibe' of connecting with each guest. Each member of staff went out of their way to assist us through check-in and escort to our rooms which was hugely appreciated as we arrived very much on the 'tired' side following a 2 week cruise. It sure was a very special place to stay, extremely comfortable with quality bedding, spacious room and bathroom (with heated floor - what a delight!), beautiful towels and tea/coffee facilities. The actual Hotel is a sight to behold - beautiful Georgian limestone buildings linked with a delightful decor that is absolutely sublime and reflects its focus to unite traditional with new. Meals were excellent. I really recommend this Hotel for all the reasons above. A tribute to you all at Hotel Indigo!

Emily greeted us with the most welcoming smile and the warmest voice when we checked in, and took us to the room whilst giving us a little bit of history about the theme. She was thorough, and we were so impressed with everything she did for us! She was so helpful and was super friendly, and helped us through check out and moved our bags until we picked it up later. Five star for one of the best person I have met this trip to Bath, and I will definitely go back!

This was the most expensive and disappointing accommodation during our 2 week trip to England. I booked a standard king room but the bed was a double and quite uncomfortable. We were told this was a UK King - but all our other bookings had been full sized. Bedding was actually too small and just met the edge of the bed. The room was very small - no dresser or room to store luggage- and a huge armoire held a full size ironing board, a safe, and a refrigerator- along with a non-functioning fireplace. If I had wanted to spend some time ironing, there was no room to do so as we were tripping over the furniture, luggage, and clothing in a tight space. The ventilation system wasn’t working properly, cleaning and fresh towels had to be requested repeatedly. The toilet ran constantly and wound up leaking all over the floor. Limited hot water. Room and lobby furnishings are worn. Restaurant service was slow and not welcoming. After hearing guest complaints, we went elsewhere. This is a historic property near the train station which seems to host many tour groups. It is a warren of rooms and hallways with undersized public areas. The concierge tried his best and offered complimentary drink chits that were only good for the cheap stuff. Very disappointed.

Rooms looking a bit grubby in places - a lovely hotel but attention to detail (cleaning behind toilets for example, plaster coming off above bath) and air con needs servicing as doesn’t cool the rooms at all. Service - we had a 3rd person in the room but had to ask twice to get the bed made up - which wasn’t ideal. Overall still an excellent location and nice hotel.
