Our Favorite Hotel Restorations From the Past Year

"Hotel Indigo Bath is a fine demonstration of how the IHG-owned Hotel Indigo brand does it best: take a type of building that’s characteristic of its setting, in this case a row of honey-colored Georgian townhouses dating to 1740, and transform it into something that’s roughly one part modern luxury-hotel sheen and one part authentic local color." - Mark Fedeli

What a great hotel! Our 2-night stay was fantastic. It’s located near the train station and city centre, both of which are just a 5-minute walk away. We received a lovely greeting from the staff every time we entered the lobby. Since some rooms can’t be accessed by lift, the hotel is happy to help guests carry their luggage to their rooms. The room was meticulously clean. The bed was comfortable. The only downside was that the cleaning service wasn’t good enough. I would rather choose the 500 IHG points for skipping cleaning than just having the bed made. Overall, I’m happy with my stay and look forward to going back. Note : We booked two rooms. Each room had a different layout and bathroom. One had a bathtub, while the other only had a standing shower.

Just spent the weekend here and what a weekend it was! From the minute we stepped in to the hotel we were greeted by the concierge who was so lovely and attentive. My partner had planned a romantic getaway for our 10 year anniversary and my partner proposed in the hotel! Perfect setting as the hotel is so beautiful and quirky. The room we stayed in was gorgeous and the bath tub! Beautiful! The menu was absolutely fabulous and the drinks were heavenly! The staff helped my partner make this occasion a very special one with little touches like congratulating postcards and Prosecco sent to the room when the concierge (I feel awful for not knowing his name!) found out I had said yes! We will definitely return in the future and really look forward to our next visit. Thank you again to all the staff at Hotel Indigo, you all know exactly what hospitality is and how to treat your guests.

Hotel Indigo is a feast for the eyes, the artwork, furnishings and fittings and even the carpets are all so pretty. We really enjoyed our one night stay, the location is great and the room very comfortable if a little on the small side. The room was quiet and the bed comfortable, everything seemed really recently renovated and in good working order. We used the quirky gym in the vaults, had a delicious cocktail at the Brasserie Beau and enjoyed the breakfast in the morning. Friendly helpful staff, would definitely stay again and highly recommend. Situated opposite a car park which was so convenient, and also maybe 5 minute walk from station.

Great location, especially if you want to take day tours from Bath. Variety of restaurants and shopping close by. Exceptionally helpful staff. Electrics in the room are funky. There is a master switch for some of the room lights. Our TV would turn itself on and this seemed to be something they were unable to figure out.. not a serious problem because the outlets have switches on them so we just switched it on and off there.

I received a very warm welcome at check-in, which was swift and easy. I really liked the personal touch of being shown to my room too. The decor is very boutique style throughout with some interesting and quirky artwork, fun to see. My room was well presented with plenty of extra amenities (IHG member perk). The hotel is very closely situated near the town centre and train station making everything very accessible. I chose to eat at the Beau restaurant and had a very good experience with the staff and food too.

What a fantastic hotel! Our three night stay was perfect! We have a whole list of things we love about this property, and it all starts with the gorgeous fragrance that greets you the moment you step through the door - not at all overpowering, more a hint of the attention to detail you’re about to experience. All the staff are welcoming and attentive - huge thanks to Eve at the front desk, who was so kind and helpful to answer our questions and ensure we had everything we needed. The decor is so unique and engaging, the room was clean, the bed comfortable, the shower is amazing (great water pressure); coffee, tea, water and biscuits are provided for refreshments. The location is ideal, right in the city center, and easily walkable to the train station and all the sites. Our room looked over the street but no issues with noise, as a matter of fact, the nights were quiet, and it faced the morning sun. We didn’t eat at the restaurant, but we enjoyed a few afternoon spritz’s, sitting outside under an umbrella. Blissful! We highly recommend this property!

We were only here for 1 night but it was fantastic. Modern, comfortable decor in the communal areas and the room, with Bath centric items around the place, without it looking like a museum. Staff were friendly, helpful & informative. Location wise it is perfectly situated a short walk from the Roman Baths & many other attractions. All in all a great stay.

Great Hotel, Terrible Dining Experience We loved our stay at the Indigo Hotel — the location is fantastic, the rooms were beautifully styled, and the staff at the hotel were warm, welcoming, and professional throughout. Unfortunately, our experience was significantly let down by Brasserie Beau, the in-house restaurant that handles the hotel’s food and drink. Our meal there was a disaster: food took over an hour to arrive, half of it was cold, the salmon was undercooked to the point of being raw, and the pork was dry and inedible. To make matters worse, the manager was dismissive, refused to take responsibility, and offered no apology. It was a disappointing contrast to an otherwise lovely stay. We would absolutely return to the Indigo — but next time, we’ll be sourcing our meals and drinks elsewhere.
