Jožef

"Housed in a modern hotel just outside the town centre, this restaurant boasts an attractive, bright dining room on the first floor that comes as a surprise given its fairly anonymous location. Although the menu is not extensive (and is even more restricted at lunchtime), it changes daily and showcases traditional local dishes reinterpreted with a modern twist. Make sure you try the žlikrofi (delicious potato-filled ravioli) served with a type of lamb stew – a local speciality for which the restaurant is a certified producer." - Michelin Inspector

Slovenia MICHELIN Guide: subterranean wonders and delicious cuisine in Idrija and the Karst region

"A link to Idrija’s archaeological and industrial past, this boutique hotel listed in the Michelin Guide pays tribute to the town’s technical and cultural heritage with a striking façade of cast-iron plates enriched with copper, evoking a mining furnace that shifts color with the seasons and light. Inside feels welcoming and hospitable, with a large dining room as the backdrop for cuisine that bridges past and present: traditional miner’s cabbage soup (smukavc) served in a glass, filled pasta, and a few maritime-inspired recipes from the nearby coast. The kitchen blends inland Slovenian traditions with Mediterranean dishes of fresh fish and shellfish, olive oil, and carefully chosen spices, while local delicacies such as žlikrofi, smukavc, and zeljševka are made in house following time-honored recipes. True to its motto of “traditional cuisine to delight even the most demanding of gourmets,” the restaurant focuses on local ingredients and home-made preparations, underscoring a commitment to reviving old culinary traditions." - La Guida Michelin

Room is as pictured - large, especially the bathroom, with fun round window. Decent AC, shower heads were a bit scaled up but ok, hairdryer actually drys hair and the baths towels are huge - always a huge crowd pleaser in my book. Dinner was excellent - definitely recommended. Breakfast did it's job but was rather average in comparison to both the quality of food the night before and other hotels I've stayed in this trip. Parking is either 4 spaces by the hotel - don't bother looking elsewhere on the hotel side if those are full, use the drop off space on the kerb outside the hotel (15 mins) and then cross the road riverside and there are spaces clearly marked up between the public carpark and the factory main gate.

One of the best and biggest hotel in the town, good selection of breakfast, lunch and dinner. The decor is a bit dated, but very clean and c ok comfortable

We stayed in this hotel for three nights. It is located on the main road through town which makes access easy. There is a dedicated pull off area in front of the hotel but the parking is quite limited. There are four narrow spaces behind the hotel accessed via a side road. We managed to park there each day as the hotel was quiet when we were there but additional parking is available at the business across the road. Given the main road location there was limited view from the room.||From the roadside access is via a lift to the 1st floor where reception is located.||Room 202 on the top floor was a good sized room with decent furniture and a nice big circular window. The room was very comfy with a good bed and pillows and plenty of storage. There was no coffee facility and the air conditioning didn't work but the cooler temperatures outside meant we did not follow it up. The TV didn't work either for the first two nights and apparently the whole system was down but they gave us a discount because of it. There was excellent soundproofing assisted by an internal door.||Big bathroom with heaps of bench space and a large rain shower but no bath. Welcome biscuits each day was a nice touch.||The real draw back to this hotel was breakfast. It was a small buffet and a small hot breakfast was only offered on the third morning when they were fairly full.||The breakfast room doubled as the restaurant for dinner which had a limited menu but offered some delicious local delicacies in particular the gnocchi with mutton. Staff were excellent and very helpful.

Very nice hotel in good location. Wifi connection without issue. Breakfast was good, but maybe ordering system for breakfast can be better. Room was clean and big. Hotel has only few parking places, so is better to book place in advance - not sure, if hotel is doing.

Very good hotel, friendly staff, clean big rooms. It might not be easy to park in back of the hotel, but you will have space. The restaurant part was very very good, with a nice menu, really worthy of all the recommendations we’ve seen. The only downside was that my AC didn’t worked properly but that’s easily fixed.

For an excellent hotel in a most unexpected location, this is it. Modern, spacious and impecable service. The linens and towels were the best in our two week travels in Slovenia and Croatia. Delicious breakfast with eggs served any way, locally produced yogurt and warm croissants. On an earlier visit, we also had an excellent dinner with a wide selection of local wines.

First hotel is located at the main road beside the petrol station and is easy to reach. Parking area have only 4 spaces and they are quite narrow. ||Suite was nice in terms of facilities but was missing coffee maker and amenities in bathroom beside slippers, towels and soap. ||Mini-Bar however was not replaced daily and offered limited selection of drinks (wine, beer, coke and Whiskey). There where welcome cookies which where good.||Restaurant offered Al-Carte dinning which was good. Wine selection was great. Breakfast was very basic (bread, yogurt, cookies and fruit). They brought coffee and tea on request. Orange juice and water where offered at buffet.||Hotel is very nice and quite luxurious in terms of facilities but not so in terms of service. Service is poor for 4* level.||
