La Perla Hotel Review | Hotels Above Par

"A family-run alpine chalet that began as a six-room house in 1939 and is now a stylish 51-key retreat, blending three generations of Costa family tradition with modern luxury and sweeping Dolomite views (notably from the sauna). Rooms are warm and story-filled, furnished with antiques selected by Annie Costa, roomy bathtubs for post-ski soaks, cozy breakfast nooks, and balconies overlooking the mountains. Dining is a highlight, from rustic Ladin comfort at Les Stües to the Michelin-starred La Stüa de Michil (generous portions), plus an award-winning Mahatma Wine Cellar, a casual Italian-Mediterranean Bistrot Music Club, the seasonal brewery-and-après-ski vibe of L’Murin, and Restaurant Ladinia with panoramic views of Mount Sassongher. The Salus per Aquam spa offers a postcard-worthy sauna, indoor pool, Turkish baths, Kneipp treatments and a full menu of wellness treatments. With ski-in/ski-out access to the Dolomiti Superski area (over 745 miles of runs) and the Gran Risa World Cup slope nearby, guided hikes and summer treks up Sassongher and Piz Boè, and easy access to the Sellaronda route and local Ladin specialties like speck and canederli, it functions as a true year-round base for both outdoor adventure and relaxed luxury; rates start around $702/night and the closest airport is Bolzano (BZO)."

We didn't stay at Hotel La Perla but our friends were married there earlier this fall. ||When planning a destination wedding, there have to be activities for the guests and the bride arranged a hike one morning. We gathered at La Perla and Mathias, the proprietor, jumped into hosting mode. He doled out waters, lent backpacks without hesitation, scratched out directions for his preferred routes and offered us recommendations for his favorite refugios at the top, "tell them Hotel La Perla sent you."||Hotel La Perla hosted the evening reception for our friends and in a moment unlike any I've ever witnessed, assembled his staff in traditional dress along a red carpet to welcome the bride and groom back from their ceremony. He had brought along his mother and father - Ernesto is 90 now - to introduce them to the married couple. The intimacy of this simple gesture - and the sincerity and purity behind it - touched our friends to the core and created a memory they'll never forget but also, that I'll never forget. ||The night they hosted was full of that same thoughtfulness and deliberateness. Staff was gracious and engaging. The food - unsurprisingly - was outstanding. And the wine list, the wine carte offered by the restaurant, is endless and full of gems. ||We stayed nearby on this visit but will return to stay on site with the Costa family, in this wonderful hotel where you want for nothing because they've already anticipated it - no matter what "it" is - and have it ready for you. They are consummate hospitality professionals and it was a delight to be in their company.

I describe this as an alpine retreat. The style is a little more German than Italian.|Excellent service, fabulous spa, cool piano bar and the bartenders are very experienced. Breakfast is excellent and the resturant has a good variety of items on the menu.|The pool is like a grotto and very fun to swim in. The spa has the usual services.|The rooms are all wooden walls and ceilings so they have a log cabin feel. The rooms are large and the bed is super comfortable. You can walk a short distance to shops in the area.

This property may carry the Leading Hotels of the World label, but unfortunately, the experience fell far short of that standard. Setting and decor is old and rundown , the service philosophy seems to revolve around charging extra for absolutely everything — often without warning.|From basic amenities to services you’d reasonably expect to be included in a hotel of this caliber, nearly everything comes with an unexpected fee. Instead of feeling pampered, you feel like you're being upsold at every turn. It’s disappointing and leaves a sour taste.|Luxury isn’t just about the look — it’s about the guest experience. And here, that experience feels transactional, not hospitable. Definitely not the seamless, elevated stay one would expect from a member of LHW.|Extremely underwhelming spa and massage experience. The massage was poorly executed, felt rushed, and completely lacked any professionalism or technique. The spa area itself is tiny and cramped, offering none of the comfort or luxury you would expect.|The pool is small and uninviting, the showers are bare — no shampoo, conditioner, or body products provided. No brushes, no hair products, no amenities at all. Everything felt like an afterthought. This is not a relaxing or rejuvenating environment by any standard.|Definitely not worth the cost or the time. Would not return or recommend.|But the worse was interaction with few members of the staff that insisted on changing us the fee for spa entrance after we paid 150 euro for our poor massages for each and were planning to have dinner for 4 right after.|When we called 4 to 5 days in advance, we were told by two staff members that there was no separate entrance fee if you’re having a spa treatment or dinner. We were planning to have both.|On the way out of the spa we were asked to pay another 300 for entrance to the “ magnificent “ spa.|They could not produce any email confirmation re those charges.|We left the hotel very disappointed.

What a lovely spot filled with charm. Our hosts were gracious and helpful when planning our daily hikes. There are so many options leaving straight from the hotel. No car required. Bikers seemed to be in heaven, too. Very nice spa with sauna, steam, pool, and treatments

We were staying in the area and came to the hotel for massage and dinner. After paying 450 euros for 3 massages, we were told to pay another 75 euros per person (300 euros for 4 of us) for utilizing spa services. I have never encountered a spa that charges an entrance fee if you’re using spa services like a massage and planning to have dinner for 4 in the hotel’s restaurant. Additionally, the spa was outdated, lacked any necessary products (like hair brush, mouthwash, q tips, etc), definitely below expectations for The Leading Hotels of the World. The deputy manager Manuel was argumentative and unaccommodating. We left very disappointed and dissatisfied.

I felt like I was in “The Sound of Music.” Everything about the experience including the staff, the food, the spa, the accommodations, and the setting was magical. I apologize if I forgot anyone, but I wanted to give an extra THANK YOU to Dona Costa, Matias, Maia, Santino, Mihail, Simone, Simona, Chiara, Michalea & Jelena for making our trip so memorable! Thank you for all your kindness to my family and I during our stay. Wishing you many blessings 🤗

Our 8 night stay at Hotel La Perla was a 60th birthday gift for my wife. Having stayed in a number of Hotels that put themselves up there as among the best in the world, we now know that La Perla is, indeed, one of the very best hotels in the world. It is simply 'understated magnificence'. We cannot single out any part of the experience because ALL elements of our stay were perfect! When was the last time you stayed in a hotel for over a week and NOTHING went wrong or needed attention? Thank-you to all the staff who looked after our every need and more. Do yourself a favor and experience La Perla at least once in your life!

This place exceeded all expectations. You feel you are part of family that has been in the Dolomites for generations, so you reap all the benefits of their knowledge and experience. The rooms--perfect. Some old school, some new, all of them perfectly appointed and comfortable. The spa was a highlight as were the dinners in the restaurant and bar. Getting to chat with Matteus, one of the owners, was fun and we felt like we'd known him for years. If you want a true Dolomites experience full of fun and luxury, this is the place for you.

Yelp
This place is amazing. It's the type of place you imagine...a place which exists in fairy tales and story books. But it is real. Very real. The wine cellar (among the most extensive in the world) is an art installation, part haunted house, part human experiment and mostly wine. (Consider the result if Hunter Thompson designed a wine cellar, and you'd have a rough idea) The staff are more dedicated than any team I have encountered on 4 other continents. If you have plans to visit the Dolomites, this is your place. Look no further.

Yelp
this was my second visit to the property. as they have expanded in size, their customer service has declined. our room was on the second floor above the bar. a t night there is a piano player and it was loud in the room and the vibrations were transmitted. sleep was difficult. i attempted to speak to the front desk the first 2 nights and they would not address my issue, nor would they speak to or allow me to speak to a manager. i have attempted to email my complaints to the owner, and after many delays, excuses and a response that was written by someone else but auto signed by the owner, i received pompous condescending response and an inadequate compensation voucher. corvara, italy is beautiful and definitely worth a visit. i would recommend not staying at LaPerla.
