My husband and I, along with our two dogs, stayed here on our way back to France from Portugal. It is located in a historic building (former palace) and near the historic city center. Parking is available for guests but keep in mind that spaces are quite tight.
Check in was fairly quick and easy. Our room was quite large and included a double queen bed, a couch and large bathroom. The bed was very comfortable and received the approval from our dog, Felix (who has developed an appreciation for 5 star hotels, although this hotel is really more of a 4 star)
We ordered room service and it is handled online. Upon ordering, it said that I would receive a confirmation but I didn't. I tried to contact the restaurant but no one picked up. I then contacted the front desk who "transferred" me but disconnected the call. The food was OK.
The neighborhood was noisy. It was Friday night and there was an event inside the hotel, as well as in a neighboring building. I was able to close some doors in the hallway, which helped with the noise from the party in the hotel.
Breakfast was very impressive. There was a large selection of pastries, fruit, fresh juice, two coffee machines, bacon, sausages, etc. Hot items were available to be ordered. There was also a selection of local specialties that was impressive. The three women who worked in the breakfast area were extraordinarily kind and attentive.
Some of the hotel's interior showed the remains of the palace and my husband noted that it would be a lovely spot for a wedding.
