Switzerland: Two-Star Dining on the Rise

"Set against a beautiful mountain backdrop, this establishment is run with great dedication by brothers Matthias and Lars Michel – Matthias manages the hotel, which boasts tastefully designed, comfortable rooms, and Lars is the restaurant's charming maître d'. In the kitchen, Aurélien Mettler and his team conjure up the modern and ambitious "Chef's Choice" set menu, which comprises four to six courses. For this, they use seasonal produce and skilfully incorporate Scandinavian and Japanese influences. Sustainability is a key consideration in the selection of the ingredients. If you would like a vegetarian version, it is best to specify this when making your reservation. Choose a bottle from the well-curated wine list, or opt for the recommended pairings by the glass – whether wine or an alcohol-free alternative. The inviting interior is done out in warm tones, featuring light wood finishings and clean lines, lending it a Nordic/Alpine feel. Overall, the atmosphere is pleasingly laid back. In fine weather, you can enjoy your aperitif on the terrace and take in the view of the Eiger North Face." - Michelin Inspector

My family and I enjoyed our stay at this immaculate, boutique hotel at quiet end of Grindelwald. Easy walk to the shops, restaurants and transportation. The view from the balcony of our loft room was stunning and the room was spacious enough for the 4 of us (21 year old, 14 year old, hubby and me). The sound of the church bells from across the street added to the charm (don’t worry… the bells don’t ring all night :). Room was a bit warm at night for our liking but leaving balcony window open and using hotel -provided fans cooled it down comfortably. Screens on balcony doors would help here. We had the alpine relaxation package and found the spa overlooking the mountains to be very peaceful. Room could use a few more hooks to hang/dry towels and robes. Breakfast had plenty of options including eggs, croissant, artisanal breads, cheese, fruit, and yogurt. Lars (one of the owners) is a truly remarkable host- accommodating, knowledgeable and personable. Andrew and Eva were standouts in helping with details of our reservation and activity planning. Do not hesitate to stay here if traveling to the Grindelwald area. Wonderful experience!

You can tell the owners and team love this beautiful Swiss spot. It's shows through in every aspect of the Fiescherblick experience. Stayed 4 nights, enjoyed great, plentiful breakfasts, wellness area is nice. Their restaurant is one of a kind, must try tasting menu using locally sourced ingredients. The staff have time to answer anything you need. The best!!

Wonderful hotel just outside the very busy Grindlewald center, but close and easy to transportation links. kirche bus stop outside door. Great views of the mountains. If you can, try the tasting menu. It’s expensive, but was absolutely outstanding. We celebrated our 34th wedding anniversary and the dinner was the our best meal by far on Switzerland/Austria. Breakfast was very good. The staff was outstanding. The rooms were very comfortable. The church bells across the street ring at 7am, but don’t go all night and we are early risers. Very close to Pfingstegg lift, our favorite hike (Baregg)

AWESOME||We stayed here as a family of 4 (with 11 & 14 yr olds) in July in the loft room. We had an awesome stay. ||The location is fantastic. It's at the end of town, quiet, away from the bustle of tourists. Our kids felt very safe walking to get ice cream and baked goods nearby. ||The room was spacious with a spectacular view of the mountains, 1.5 bathrooms, a table for playing games/eating as a family, enough beds for the 4 of us (including the tall teen), a large refrigerator, and a coffee machine that we actually enjoyed using (a rare thing - usually cringe at the in-room coffee machines). ||The included breakfast was delicious, and the staff always eagerly helped meet our requests. The chef's choice menu for dinner was AMAZING. Our kids are still talking about the unique and delicious dishes they had. Do the wine pairing with it. Servers were incredible as well, explaining all of the details of the dishes. It was a memorable dinner. ||I can't recall his name, but the fellow at the front desk answered all of our questions about activities in and around Grindelwald. He steered us in all the right directions and helped make our stay that much more enjoyable. ||This was our favorite hotel on our multi-week trip to London, Paris, and Switzerland. Book here!

Our experience was absolutely incredible.|Very comfortable rooms and a great onsen.|The hospitality and service and friendliness of staff were perfect. This hotel should serve as a model example of how other hotels should operate. Every single person who worked there communicated well and provided exceptional help and advice.|Truly felt like home.||Oh - do NOT pass on dinner here.|Of the three dinners we had in Grindelwald/Interlaken, this was arguably the best one.

Our absolute favorite stay in Switzerland. Our room spectacular. The view! The view was just stunning. The property was beautiful and well cared for. The staff very accomodating. Andrew helped us plan our activities and was always so friendly. They offered a breakfast buffet and had a restaurant for dinner. There was a spa for relaxing after busy days. If you are in Grindlewald, don't miss out on this beautiful hotel!

My wife and I had a fantastic stay at this hotel. Our room was beautiful, comfortable, spacious, and had great views of the valley. The staff was the real highlight for us. They were very personal and helpful. It's clear they are passionate about the quality of their hotel. We also did the tasting menu at the restaurant, which was interesting and inventive. Service was top notch but I would caution that the entire experience took a little less than 3 hours (which felt like a lot for an 8 PM reservation) and that the price was very high. Overall we enjoyed the experience.

Hotel Fiescherblick was easily one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed at! Phenomenal views, excellent customer service, and a peaceful spa. My husband and I came here for our honeymoon and were showered with love from the staff — champagne delivered to our room, delicious cocktails brought to the jacuzzi, and a wonderful dinner. They even helped us plan our days in the Swiss Alps since we had only made an itinerary for one of our four days in Grindelwald. Please keep in mind that this is a boutique, sustainable, family-owned hotel. It doesn’t have the round-the-clock amenities of a big chain — no ice machines on every floor or 24/7 room service — but instead offers a cozy, homelike atmosphere with fresh, locally sourced meals and the best tap water you’ll ever taste.
