Le Clos du Vigneron

"The hillside vineyards of the Coteaux du Giennois lie adjacent to Le Clos du Vigneron. Here you can enjoy hearty, fresh and seasonal cuisine, with an emphasis on fish: the chef works like a true craftsman and is passionate about his profession. Handy guestrooms should you wish to stay overnight." - Michelin Inspector

It’s a good hotel to stay for a couple of nights or just in passing by. The owners are friendly and willing to help. The only thing which bothers me is the fact that people seem to blatantly refuse to speak English, although they seem to understand it perfectly when you ask for a bill. Anyway the accommodation is neat and tidy, the breakfast more than enough.

Just in a little village at the old highway you find this cute place. You can park your car inside the premises for free. The rooms (in a separate building) are ok, no single beds, but clean and quiet. You can sit outside in front of your room (in good weather). The restaurant is nice with good quality food and nice drinking options, all for a friendly price. Staff is incredibly kind and caring.

The best 2 star hotel we have ever stayed in. Delightful clean spacious garden en-suite room. Very welcoming, Great Continental breakfast. Lovely dining room with fascinating art on the walls. Dinner was Michelin star level with extensive excellent wine list. A hidden gem.

Stayed there on the off chance while driving south, and immediately booked a room for our return trip. Very basic rooms, but clean and comfortable. What impressed most was the food. Superb isn't a strong enough word. A 4/5 course set meal at reasonable cost, with an amuse bouche, friendly service, and a super sancerre (well, it's practically the local wine) made us instant fans. The food on the return a week later lived up to our expectations, and we would eat here again anytime

We have stayed here several times, always delighted with the high quality food, friendly reception and nice, but simple, rooms. The menu isn't cheap, but has never disappointed. The bedrooms are in a building - about 10 years old - down the garden, far from the not too busy N7 road. If you're heading from a Channel port south towards the Languedoc (or back north) it provides an excellent stop-over.||||Before you leave, walk down to the Loire and see the old village of Ousson and the wide river.

Stayed here twice in May, first when heading south and then on the way back home. We have stayed here several times, attracted by its wonderful food and friendly reception. The bedrooms, which are in a hexagonal block down the garden, are modern, clean and comfortable, with excellent en-suite shower rooms. The menu is a gastronomic delight. The owners have acquired the property next door which they are converting into more accommodation, aimed at a more budget conscious market. I'm sure the quality will be just as good.

Lovely Restaurant, French food at it’s best with great attention to details to the presentation of their plates. It is a great place to bring family members, not so much for childrens. The outside garden is absolutely beautiful, clean and well looked after

This is a good value stop on the Loire de Velo cycle route. Being individually owned, We have found Logis hotels a bit hit and miss. This one manages to be both.||||The hit: The room was great. we had a room at the back of the hotel which was away from the busy road - you could still hear road and rail noise but it was acceptable, and having aircon you can close the windows. Everything was pretty new and shiny, there was a kettle too, which you don't often get in France. Even a little outside seating area outside the room. Fab!||||The miss: This is a typical budget hotel and it's clients are contractors and travelling salespeople etc. along with us cyclists. After a hard days cycling I like a few beers, but don't do that here - there is no bar and I was charged €4.50 for a teeny tiny sample bottle of Heineken. The restaurant is the bizarre bit. It is very nicely done in a fine dining style, the service is fine dining, and the menu's are going to cost you over €100 for two people with drinks. There are no reasonably priced menus. I don't mind paying for good food, but we were tired after a days cycling and not really in the mood for a €150 dinner, especially as the other diners were either contractors in football shorts and flip flops or salesmen sitting on their own. The atmosphere was definitely not fine dining. The contractors obviously had a set meal deal as we asked for the same as them and were not allowed to have it.||||There didn't appear to be anywhere else to eat nearby so we were stuck here. We decided to choose the steak from the limited a la carte menu, and it was excellent! the sauce was top class, and the, oh, hang on, that was sort of it. There were two small teaspoons of mashed potato and around 8 or 9 peas. It was obviously designed to be part of a 4-5 course meal, it was not a meal in itself. Put a pile of chips and some vegetables on the plate and we would have been very happy, but what we got was bonkers for the type of hotel.||||If you want a hotel in this area and don't want to pay €120+ for dinner I suggest you ask for a room at the back of the hotel and bring your own food with you.
