Hotel Royal-Riviera (St Jean Cap-Ferrat, French Riviera / Provence) 3 Hotel Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Today there are a multitude of ways to see the Côte d’Azur, but the quintessential Belle Époque grand-hotel experience is alive and well at the Royal-Riviera in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat. Even when it opened in 1904 it was a somewhat eclectic blend of eras and styles, which means that although its most recent renovation introduced some modern elements, there’s no question of spoiling the historical atmosphere — the contrasts are only made richer, and the look more memorable. Its rooms and suites are divided between the original building and the newer Villa Orangerie; many of the former have views out to sea, while the latter are more secluded, overlooking the swimming pool or the hotel’s Renaissance-style gardens from their balconies or terraces. And across all categories, the interior style is an era-spanning collage of old and new, effortlessly combining modern simplicity and classic Riviera grandeur. The pool and gardens combine to create a lovely outdoor environment, and they’re augmented by the Royal-Riviera’s petite private beach, as well as a THALGO spa. Meanwhile the poolside Jasmin Grill serves Indian dishes from its tandoori oven alongside more typical Mediterranean fare; La Table du Royal, the hotel’s gastronomic restaurant, stays focused on locally sourced modern French classics." - Tablet Hotels

Hotel Royal Riviera | Best places to stay in Cote d'Azur

"This 1904-built grande dame of the Cote d’Azur has a sublime seaside location, and one of the very few private beaches on the exclusive Cap Ferrat. With spectacular views over the Baie des Fourmis, the hotel has lush gardens of towering palms, sunny terraces and a vast heated pool, open year-round. Boat hire, water-skiing, parasailing or jet-skiing are all available right on the hotel’s sandy beach; massages are excellent in the petite spa, and the fine-dining restaurant serves breakfast and dinner overlooking the ocean. I had the most wonderful stay at the Hotel Royal Riviera in Nice. From the moment I arrived, every member of the staff was exceptionally kind, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, making me feel at home straight away. The service throughout my stay was flawless—every detail was anticipated, and the team went above and beyond at every turn. The hotel itself couldn’t be more beautiful. The design, the finishes, and the attention to detail in every corner create a refined yet warm atmosphere. My room was immaculate, with thoughtful touches that elevated the experience, and I especially appreciated that it was serviced twice daily, always left perfectly fresh and comfortable. Every element of my stay was remarkable, from the stunning surroundings to the impeccable hospitality. Hotel Royal Riviera truly sets the standard for excellence—I can’t wait to return.

I stayed at this hotel for four nights at the end of my French Riviera trip. It was a fantastic experience; the room was comfortable and quiet, even being right next to the elevator. The pool was amazing - perfect temperature, clean water, and relatively quiet (save for one guest on my last day, Sunita, who spent ages bragging about the private boat tour she was booking - if I had to hear about "Rob's credit card" one more time I would have pushed her in). The private beach was less perfect - water is rather dirty and it's directly next to a watersports business, which means you are rather close to boats and jet skis. Staff was friendly, professional, and helpful. Included breakfast was delicious.||Overall, this place is pricey but worthwhile if you are looking for an upscale quiet hotel in the area. The location is prime - walking distance to plenty of lovely restaurants in Beaulieu-sur-Mer, and not as touristy as Nice proper.

The Royal-riviera was amazing! Beautiful hotel, lovely rooms and the perfect location. We travelled with children and grandparents and every age had a great time. The breakfast was great, and the concierge helped us plan dinners all over that were all incredible. I had chosen this hotel as it has a beach so we didn't need to go to a beach club every day with children. The location is perfect and everyone who worked there was very helpful. Our only complaint would be that you couldn't order food by the pool. It was very hot when we were there and sitting in the restaurant for lunch was too hot. Other than that a perfect vacation!

Absolutely beautiful hotel in Côte D’Azur. We stayed in Hotel Royal Riviera for two nights and I wish we had stayed for longer! Alex, front desk, and Luc, concierge, both went out of their way to be helpful and accommodating. |Our room had a pool and sea view which we really enjoyed. Cleanliness was excellent, the complimentary beach bags are adorable. The beach is steps away from the hotel. You walk on a public path and are adjacent to the public beach. The beaches in this area were all packed with people. This beach was relatively quiet and the swimming was wonderful. |I have read reviews which criticized the slow poolside service. The pool does seem underserved, with one staff member, but this is the standard in France, the staff all worked hard and was attentive and courteous. We did not sample the restaurants but had drinks and fruit at the pool. Thoroughly enjoyed.

I was really pleased with this booking my PA made. First class hotel in almost all aspects. Room was nice and spacious, great views, lovely bathroom, quality mattress, modern and classy. |Service was impeccable both in restaurant, on their private beach and for room service. |Location was great too. |Food was delicious and fresh.|Gym could have been larger, that was honestly my only criticism.

This hotel is absolutely beautiful in all of the common spaces. The lobby; the pool, the beach, etc. but they are lacking in the rooms. They are quite dated, the hair drier in the room looks like it is from the 90s and attached to the wall and there is no electrical plug in the bathroom. There is a small plug ON the hairdryer that doesn’t fit a converter so I had to use my own hair appliances in the bedroom. The hot water faucet in the bathroom was leaky and I came into a small puddle each time I came back to the room. There is no full length mirror, the weird mirror tv doesn’t count. The plug next to the bed also doesn’t work. I checked to see if there was a switch that needs to be on for it to work but no avail. My cords work in all other plugs in the room but it would have been nice to have one next to my bed. |They say that all beverages in the mini fridge will be restocked daily but they didn’t do it for 2 days and I had to ask multiple times and wait for them to bring more water to the room. |The gym is also small and very stuffy. The sauna has wires hanging out of the wall and no posted instructions on how to turn it on. The steam room is fine but again dated. I worked out each morning and it just wasn’t that nice.|They also had some mood lighting on the wall behind the bed but no instructions on how to turn them off. There was a small remote in a drawer that I had to call the front desk to ask about how to turn them off at night. |The beach is nice as can be for a rocky beach, but it had a lot of trash washed up on the beach, on my way into the water I stepped in a bottle cap and used straw and had to dodge floating styrofoam chunks, not quite the relaxing atmosphere I was looking for there. They did have a trash boat that was collecting the trash while we were there (I guess a pro and a con? lol) |The hotel breakfast was lovely, there is a big bowl of fresh strawberries every morning that was the star of the breakfast and a fresh egg station where you could get omelets. |Overall the location is nice, and luckily we didn’t spend too much time in the room but wish it was a little better experience on the room was nicer. I didn’t address these items other than the minibar with the hotel while I was there because that’s not how I wanted to spend my vacation, these should have all been addressed before I got there and are not part of a 5 star experience.

What a perfect hotel!! From the staff to the property, they make your stay feel above and beyond! This is the best location and the staff will do anything to make you happy/ comfortable. I cannot recommend enough! This is a the best place in town!!! Central to restaurants, beach and boats. Perfect for families, girls trip or romantic getaway. Would come back in a heartbeat!

We got there exhausted from a 5-hour train ride from Paris. They gave us an automatic upgrade (also comes along with our travel agent), the best part, our room was ready right away. Alexis showed us around the hotel, and she was so lovely, helpful, kind, and funny. Our room was large with sea and garden views, and it was beautiful. We were very close to the road and heard a lot of road noise. We did ask to move our room, and they were able to move us to a smaller room with no sea view, but still a lovely view.||We ate dinner at their hotel restaurant, La Table du Royal. Beautiful view (same as breakfast view). They came over and poured us champagne, which we assumed was a nice gesture; they later charged us for it, so that was a bit strange. My husband doesn't eat shellfish or pork, and the waiter wasn't very helpful with changing certain plates around. Unfortunately, the food just wasn't great. (The waiter is going to have some more training on this, so I'm sure it won't happen again).||My husband told the front desk about the restaurant, explaining they needed some work and more training. They offered for us to have lunch at Jasmine, their other restaurant. The food was outstanding! We loved every bite, and how lovely to offer us a complimentary lunch to say they were sorry for our poor experience at their other restaurant. The way they went above and beyond for us was by far the best way to handle mishaps. We met the general manager, who apologized for our poor dinner and said our dinner was taken off our bill, which was above and beyond what we would have assumed. He then introduced us to the owner and his lovely family, who sent us champagne to the beach.||The breakfast was delicious, much to offer, and the eggs were cooked to order with an omelet chef, who is wonderful and remembers your orders. The two women who seat you (hostesses) are so kind and wonderful. To be honest, all of the staff were fantastic, kind, and always ready to get you something. They were also very professional, and we were impressed. The beach is great, we loved it. The pool was nice, but too many kids. We have kids, but when they are in summer camp, we like to travel places where there are no kids. It's not their fault, it's not an adults-only hotel, but the pool was taken over and could be very loud. ||They show you a walking path that you can walk right into town with restaurants, a marina, etc. It's a beautiful walk and worth it. ||I would recommend this hotel to anyone, even with one issue (and not even a big deal), they handled it with grace, class, and went above and beyond. We would come back.

Yelp
Gorgeous grounds with access to a private beach with lots of water activities. The location is perfect too, 10 minute walk in a beautiful harbor, and you get to small shops, yacht clubs, and multiple restaurants right on the bay with a beautiful view, live music, and great food.

Yelp
Absolutely obsessed with this hotel. The grounds are stunning, staff is so kind, the food was so incredible that we ate there two nights in a row and don't get me started on the phenomenal cocktails. The beach in front is perfection, pool is another great scene and you can walk to the most beautiful locations along Cap Ferrat. Cannot wait to go back!!!

Yelp
Everything about Royal Riviera was beautiful. The location, accommodations, grounds, food, and service. We came to relax after a work trip in Monaco. Short drive but you feel like you're in another world. Bed was very comfortable, we had a garden partial sea view room on the backside of the second building. Very quiet. I can't say enough good comments about it. I'm very much looking forward to returning.

Yelp
Rooms very nice and some of staff very competent. Bad internet, not at all consistent. Elevator been out for three days forced to walk the stairs. Expensive for a walk up:)))

Yelp
Wonderful Hotel. Wonderful staff. This might be one of the best we ever stayed at. Breakfast lunch and dinner all perfect as well as the bartender skills. This is a classic that you should experience at least once. We for sure are going back here again.

Yelp
stayed there years ago. it was really nice. really expensive. they import the sand for their beach. yeah. the room service was nice. great location, fabulous sunsets. the room was fantastic. our only complaint was that the drain in the shower kept backing up & filling the tub while you showered. and when we complained they acted as if it was no big deal. it's always a big deal when you're trying to bathe & your soaking in your own dirty water, not really helpful. but it's even a bigger deal when your paying that much money.

Yelp
Beautiful hotel in a stunning setting in one of the most beautiful places on Earth. The hotel is very, very nice. There is a walking path along the water in both directions. Dinner in the restaurant was remarkable. The room was very modern and comfortable. Breakfast on the terrace overlooking the water was a great way to start each day. Cannot wait to return.
