We absolutely loved our stay at the Trofana Royal - our favourite hotel in the Austrian Alps! The rooms, facilities and restaurant are all excellent - really hard to find any fault at all. The spa deserves a special mention and was a favourite with everyone - amazing to have such a large family spa was as well as the excellent adults only area. We will definitely be back!

One of the nicest hotels we have stayed in. Staff are brilliant! Rooms luxurious and spotlessly clean. Spa facillities and pools are superb. The food quality and variety is wonderfull. Would not stay anywhere else in Ischgl! Cannot believe the reviews about arrogant staff as they were just superb.

We have stayed at this hotel a number of times and I can honestly say it gets better ever time. The food, the service , the quality of the rooms and spa is superb. Great location beside the main ski lift in the town. The management deserve top marks as the staff are so well trained.

We have just had a pre Christmas skiing week staying at this beautiful hotel. This was our second stay at the Royal Trofana and I have to say it was even better than the first (which was also amazing). The hotel is pure Austrian class with a mixture of traditional and contemporary rooms (we had a traditional room which in my opinion is better). The food is excellent and the staff are just amazing- so so efficient, friendly and helpful. If you ski then the location is very good and it has a great ski room which is ski to door. I really can’t recommend this hotel enough.

Very arrogant service coming from the top management of the hotel. Senior hotel staff cater to a select few local "royalties" by assigning them the best rooms, centrally located tables at the restaurant and going out their way in meeting their every wish. All other (especially new and non-German speaking) guests are completely ignored and are relegated to the far south corner of the hotel with cheap tiles on the floor and even cheaper and tasteless art on the walls. It has a look and feel of a 3* property at best with the view of a fence and a parking lot. The manager of the restaurant is the worst. Self-important, never says yes to anything and seems annoyed at most clients' requests. Unacceptable.||There are a few nice junior staff who are trying their best but their good efforts are easily overshadowed by the factors mentioned above. ||For this money there are plenty of other places with the right attitude and service.

Its a very nice hotel, so I will just point out aeas which are not 5 stars for sure:|- water at dinner (half board) is 10 euros, or 5 for tap - its quite annoying|- no water in rooms unless you order from room service for 15 euros|- no heat adjustment in the rooms|- salad bar and cheese selection pretty average|- there is a normal a la carte menu for dinner, not just the daily selection, but unless you ask you are not told|- no owners or manager to greet guests at dinner (which happens in pretty much all austrian hotels)||Seems like the hotel needs some attention… these are all minor points but all together they just add up…

Stayed at the Royal Trofana hotel for a week's snowboarding, with my best friend since infant school. We found our stay at the hotel superb. From our late arrival (coach was late dropping us off, but reception ensured we enjoyed a fabulous evening meal whilst our bags were taken to our room for us), the staff were extremely helpful and professional, and are a credit to the hotel. Nothing was ever too much trouble, from reception organising our lift passes ready for the first morning on the slopes, to the maids bringing water and fresh fruit to the room on request. Our room was superb, with a fabulously appointed double bathroom and, and we even had an additional separate toilet and washbasin. The beds were extremely comfortable and the linen spotless and refreshed regularly by a faultless maid service. The breakfasts were too quality with eggs Benedict and outer specials made to order and served piping hot brought under a silver dome. The five courses at dinner each evening were delightful and the waiters were extremely focused on ensuring we wanted for nothing. If we drained our glass the waiter would notice immediately and refill it. The wine recommendations were also spot on when we decided to ourselves to a fine wine in such a splendid environment. The spa facilities were by far the best I have ever encountered, with the whole spa area feeling like we must be in a James Bond movie, it was so stylish and well equipped. The ski lockers were superb too and our gear was safe and dry, ready for a great day of sport each morning. We really enjoyed a luxury stay in Ischgl, and the conditions for snowboarding and skiing were great. Massive area to discover and enjoy. Boarded over the border into Switzerland too. I only hope I am lucky enough to return to the Trofana Royal with my wife and sons one day, so that they can experience the stress free luxury the hotel provides to their guests.

We had two weeks booked through Crystal ski holidays. As soon as you arrive you are made welcome. All the staff are fantastic and the training they receive is exemplary. The restaurant staff get two weeks training and it shows. A special mention must be made for Carmen and Magda who looked after us very well. The Von Der Thannen family hotel is superb. The rooms, the spa, swimming pools, decor, cleanliness and of course the restaurant of forty chefs run by Martin Sieberer are amazing. Our meals were simply amazing. This is a very special hotel and well deserves all its accolades. Thank you to the entire team for an unforgettable experience.
