"How did it strike you on arrival? The hotel is positioned on a hill overlooking south Austin's hilly terrain. The rather typical-looking stucco exterior belies a European palazzo-inspired courtyard on the building's backside. Nice. What’s the crowd like? This hotel feels worlds away from downtown-hipster Austin: Empty-nesters carefully study the European wine list in the Northern Italian-inspired restaurant, while business travelers go for nightcaps in the billiards parlor or cigars on the courtyard. The good stuff: Tell us about your room.Like the rest of the hotel, the rooms are designed to mimic an Italian villa. Tiled floors, rich woods, and a library of books create a residential feel. Request a room on a higher floor, which have a small Juliette balcony and views all the way to downtown. We’re craving some deep, restorative sleep. They got us?The mattress is firm and the sheets are comfortable. How about the little things, like mini bar, or shower goodies. Any of that find its way into your suitcase?Suites have kitchenettes and, no matter what room type you book, you'll get a complimentary bottle of wine during your stay. Maybe the most important topic of all: Wi-Fi. What’s the word?Free and very fast. Anything stand out about other services and features? Whether it’s childcare, gyms, spas, even parking—whatever stuck with you.The pool area is chiseled into natural limestone and has sweeping views of the Austin hillside. The setting is serene with rows Cypress trees, lounge chairs, and curtained cabanas, which can be booked both by guests and by locals through ResortPass day passes.  What was most memorable—or heartbreaking—about your stay?Covered in strings of lights, the central walled courtyard distinguishes this hotel stay from the rest of the pack. Bottom line: worth it, and why?The European influence and ornate furnishings aren't for everyone." - Allison Bagley

We booked an afternoon at a cabana at their pool and a massage for my sister to celebrate her birthday. We ate and drank and enjoyed the pool amenities for the day. The hype set high expectations which it never met. ||The pool was dirty, food mediocre and to top it off the spa was not customer friendly, AT ALL. I booked a massage as a surprise gift but when we arrived my sister asked if we could reschedule and come back for a girls spa day. I kindly asked if we could do that and was turned down. This was Memorial weekend and they could have rebooked the time, if they really wanted to. I explained we would definitely use the massage and bring 2 to 4 more clients with us next time. Their lack of a customer service mindset was truly disappointing. As a result, I paid half the $175 massage, we never got to use and we will never return. The shortsightedness of the manager tells me it is not my kind of hotel. We live in Austin and frequent local spas. They lost our business on multiple fronts. ||The one bright spot is the wait staff at the pool was good and truly tried to provide good service.

This is a nice property with lovely rooms. The property itself is not laid out well. There is a lot of unused space on the main floor and you have to go up to the 2nd floor to get to the pool, spa, and gym. Laurel, the restaurant, was good, but I expected fantastic upscale Italian cuisine from the hotel's description. I made a request for some kind of special acknowledgement of my fiance's birthday in advance, but nothing was ever done or said. It's a nice property, but I think the GM or owner need to decide if this is going to be an upscale Austin hotel or a business hotel. Lots of potential.

Google
Outstanding hotel with amazing amenities including gym, spa, outdoor pool, bar, restaurant and ball rooms. Rooms were very spacious, extremely clean with great beds and pillows. Big screen TV had hookups for my traveling ROKU streaming unit. We were with a wedding party and everything went great with the rehearsal dinner in the ball room. Great tasting Food served quickly and still nice and warm for about 80 people. We will be back when in Austin and needing a great hotel.

Wonderful dinner!! Chef was so thoughtful and creative with menu. Simo, our waiter was very attentive and lovely. Great atmosphere and lots of different options on menu. Chef even texted us the night before our reservation to see if we had any special dietary restrictions. I will be back. Very special!

Google
Such a gorgeous view with wonderful amenities. They have a huge pool & hot tub with bar, food & music. They have an inside restaurant lounge inside the hotel with live music. Spa if needed is on the same floor as the pool. The Italian decor and atmosphere are gorgeous and pleasant to view. The staff is funny and very friendly. Definitely a stay to revisit.

Google
Great location, Staff, Amenities and Food. The locations is really great, nice views, close to almost every thing in Austin. The pool, restaurant and bar are great. The on-site food is really really good. Staff were very nice, welcoming and helpful. Parking is very convenient at the garage or valet. Location was safe and secure. Unfortunately, certain issues kept me from giving it 5 stars. The rooms are dated, need a refresh. Things like seeing room service items sitting in the hallway for a day is not ideal. They also didn’t adhere to some of my booking notes, and left a bottle of wine when we said we don’t drink. It’s the little things that can take this resort to the next level.

We stayed at Hotel Viata Friday through Monday. The dining at the Laurel, excellent food, service impeccable, servers Hank and Simon the best. The Spa I would recommend had a body massage so many choices. We were made to feel at home. The front desk staff also very attentive.

Google
Viata reservations and reception staff, the parking and the hotel in general is very good, but the house keeping staff is really something. The rooms could be cleaner but what is definitely an area of opportunity is the house keeping staff attitude. One day they arrived knocking at our room at 9 am trying to clean the room, so we politely told them that we were still sleeping and please come back later. After this day, they never cleaned our room again, despite the fact that we went to the reception and explained the situation, they kept on reading the same note from house keeping that we refused service, so they didn’t clean the room two days in a row; truly unacceptable.

Yelp
Parisa at the front desk was super sweet from the beginning. Loved the surprise complimentary bottle of wine waiting for us. Bar was crazy expensive (9.00 for a high noon and 16.00 for a mule). $6.00 for a small bag of chips at front desk. Gorgeous building. Rooms aren't big. We checked into a room which felt claustrophobic. Told Parisa, and she upgraded us no questions asked. Over all decent. Amazing staff.

Yelp
I now work in the area and pass Hotel Viata every day on my way to and from work. It looks beautiful so I decided to check out its website. The website alone tamped down my initial excitement. It's wonky. The grammar is horrendous. There are misspelled words (macarnoons???). And there's still a reference to Hotel Granduca, which I have never heard of before. And West Lake Hills is NOT the Hill Country. It may seem absurd to some, but a business's website is their initial introduction to the world. To not do a basic spell check, grammar check, and multiple read throughs by multiple people is abominable. If this is their level of professionalism and pride, I can only imagine what it would be like to stay there. I may consider a visit, but only if they pay me to redo their website. They should be embarrassed.

Yelp
Pros: This hotel is truly beautiful. Amazing location. Really nice amenities. The decor is beautiful. Room was clean. Bed was very comfortable. A/C blew very cold. Loved the blue tooth speaker feature. Keurig in the room. The staff was also very nice and moved quickly. Cons: The only reason I am giving 4 stars is because of the really foul odor that was in the bathroom area. It wasn't throughout the entire room thankfully. It smelled like sewage backup. Also my first night the metal cover that covers the air filter fell and almost gave me a heart attack, but I called down to the front and they sent someone immediately and gave me a credit for the inconvenience. Laurel Restaurant: My first meal (chicken and waffles) was not the best. The next day I did their omelette and it was really good. Would I stay again: Absolutely! I believe in being honest about everything but would definitely stay again.

Yelp
We came here in October for our wedding/honeymoon. And honestly? You can skip it. The staff were rude and they double charged me. Thank god my bank flagged the second charge as fraudulent, but when I brought it up to the front desk staff they took the worst attitude with me over it and then hung up on me. The beds were mid, and the service in their restaurant is slow and sub par. And their "amenities" were far too expensive to be worth it. I was incredibly disappointed with my stay here, especially after so many people recommended it. Save your money and stay somewhere else.

Elizabeth A. H.

Yelp
This hotel location has been a favorite of mine even when it was under past ownership. The rooms are lovely and they have spacious walk in showers. The staff here are helpful and go above and beyond to make sure your needs are met. Food prepared from their conferences spaces is also good.

Maritza S.

Yelp
I absolutely enjoyed my two week stay at Hotel Granduca. I was welcomed with a bottle of red wine in my room, who can complain about that? Everything was beautiful and clean. The housekeeping team made sure my room was neat and reset everyday. Fresh towels and glassware were always available. I visited the bar and the restaurant during my stay and both were lovely. Their specialty drink menu is limited but the drinks are great. I had a martini with pickle juice, olives, lime juice and mezcal that blew my mind. The staff was friendly and helpful. Everyone I interacted with was great! Big shout out to the valet guys who went out of their way to help me with my luggage. If I ever visit Austin again I'll make sure to stay here again.

Stephanie M.

Yelp
Perfect staycation spot if you live in Austin. We stayed during the week, so it wasn't too busy. The pool area is gorgeous and is giving modern Italian vibes. Perfect spot to watch the sunset as well. The rooms have great hill country views. Also they are dog friendly. Welcome wine and snacks are a nice touch as well!

Raquel O.

Yelp
I live in Austin and was looking for a hotel to do a girl staycation and found Hotel Viata. We checked in and the guy who checked us in was very helpful and even upgraded our room a to a suite! We loved the upgrade which had a kitchen and living room. We received a complimentary bottle of Red Wine which was delish and perfect for our girls night. The views are perfect out to the greenery and golden hour by the pool is beautiful and peaceful. The style is very Tuscan. I would recommend staying here if you are looking for a staycation in the city but only 10 min out from downtown to feel like you are away.

Dan H.

Yelp
I have been staying here for business on a weekly basis for about 6 months. That's long enough to get a pretty good idea of how things work. The hotel isn't really focused on business travelers, which is why it gets 4 stars for my needs. If you want an absolutely beautiful place to stay for a few days or a long weekend this is the place to go. I had some issues with the front desk staff on a few occasions but they have improved dramatically over the last few months. What keeps me coming back is the staff. Particularly Troy the bartender who goes above and beyond regularly to make sure everyone is well taken care of. I've stayed over 2,000 nights in Hiltons and Marriott chains in my career and I've never seen anyone better. The pool, spa, and restaurant are all good as well.

Elies S.

Yelp
We had such a wonderful stay here. I'm currently 8 months pregnant so I'm very picky about beds, comfort, and overall quality. I had no complaints. Spacious room, spacious, shower, clean, coffee both in the room and complimentary coffee (which actually tastes good!) in the lobby in the morning, and very friendly staff. The pool is heated and we actually took a swim during a weekend that was 50-60 degrees in the air. Then went into the hot tub. Also very clean. Robes are provided in your room and due to the chilly weather they definitely came in handy to wear to the pool. Next time we might check out their personal spa services and the restaurant. We did not eat at their restaurant (mainly because we wanted to explore the downtown food scene) but heard it was very good from multiple people.

Yelp
My husband, pup and I went for a night staycation at Hotel Granduca just after Thanksgiving. We decided to stay in the Granduca Suite because of the large tub and living room. What we loved: - Pet friendly and great dog menu. Our dog inhaled the homemade dog food. - The bar and restaurant. Thanks, Iggy, for the delicious cocktails! And for letting us try a free Bellini. Food was excellent. The live music was great as well. - Free bottle of wine in room. - Soaking tub. What needs serious improvement: - The window in our room was opened when we checked in and we didn't realize it until later because the curtains were closed. Glad we caught it when we did. - One of the bath robes in our room was stained (see picture) - The heat was not working in our living room. We called down for maintenance in the evening, but it wasn't fixed. It was blowing cold air, so we could enjoy our suite because it was quite cold. - Couldn't get ahold of room service. Called 5x. Ended up going down stairs to order dessert to go. This was apparently when the maintenance person went to check on our room, but again, the issue wasn't resolved. - Many of the wine glasses in our room were not clean. - At breakfast, received a coffee stained cup, though they did take my tea off the bill. Overall we wouldn't spend the money to stay again. For a four star hotel, the communication and details were seriously lacking.

Yelp
Beautiful resort with an amazing staff. We loved everything about our stay. Resteraunt and happy hour are delicious. Pool and outdoor fireplace offer a wonderful place to relax. Loved our spa experience. Can't wait to go back!

Natalia R.

Yelp
Pool review and service. Adam, who works here, must be an employers dream. He is very attentive, gets all drink orders in correctly and brings them quickly. Friendly, professional and drags those huge heavy umbrellas for whoever needs shade. Small and quiet pool. Great vibe if you just want to lounge, rest, and have a drink. No wild party vibes here, no kids screaming and running around, a great place to relax. I love the Italian theme. The drinks are Italian themed too! Of course they also have the usuals and an extensive wine and bubbly list. Heard a new owner will come in and remodel. Please keep this cute vibe and Tuscan garden theme!

Bekah S.

Yelp
We had a fantastic stay at Hotel Viata! From the front desk, to the restaurant, to the spa, the entire staff was incredible. Everyone exudes happiness and positivity. Thank you for making our stay one to truly remember. If we ever want to do a staycation again, we will come to Hotel Viata! If you are a bath person, I recommend staying in the Sparrow Suite! Best bathtub ever!

James S.

Yelp
A nice hotel. I would stay here again. Pros: clean, spacious, well appointed rooms. Restaurant on site. Bell boys. Cons: bed pillows are stiff and uncomfortable, staff in general is lazy and inattentive to needs of guests. They need better training and a new manager to teach them.

Kendall J.

Yelp
The hotel was pleasant, and the staff was very helpful and available. However, the Spa was horrible! The cost is extremely high, and they then add a 20% tip (for your convienience). However it is not optional. In my case it should have been. My therapist gave me the wrong massage, and did not read my intake form, which specified deep, firm work. It was the worst AND most expensive massage I have ever had. I recommend you save time and money and not try a massage here.

Lakeisha R.

Yelp
This place has excellent customer service. The hotel was clean and smelled amazing. The views are so peaceful. I also relaxed at the pool and courtyard; it was terrific--such a beautiful place. I couldn't have asked for a better place to get away.

Stan K.

Yelp
My wife and I decide to take a short refresher vacay in Austin after Christmas and thanks to TripAdvisor we found this hotel. Everything about the hotel was great however we expected a room with a view because of the location of the hotel. Instead they put us on the 2nd floor facing the back of the hotel. The pool and gym were very nice and clean. It was nice the they gave us complimentary red wine and bottled water.

Samantha M.

Yelp
We enjoyed our weekend getaway in Austin- this was the perfect hotel! The decor was gorgeous and our room was clean and comfortable bed, pillows etc. We loved the pool. All the outside patios were great to sit and relax and we saw many pets so they are dog friendly! We plan to return.

Katia M.

Yelp
Pros: beautiful landscapes all around, friendly staff, amazing pool/jacuzzi space that really felt like a Mediterranean villa, delicious food (large portions too, definitely all shareable), live music in lobby almost every night, very dog friendly, great game room. Cons: a bit off the beaten path, need to take an Uber to get there from any of Austin's main attractions, understaffed Overall would recommend!

Dennis S.

Yelp
The Granduca is pretty out of the way for a visit to Austin. It's a longish drive to get downtown. This is a best choice when you're visiting the 360 / Bee Cave area. A bit of a winding drive from 360 up to the hotel. Sort of fun once you've driven it a few times. The valets were pleasant, fast, friendly and efficient. Stayed in a borgo suite. Two large two rooms separated by a glass french door. So it's not completely private between the living and bedroom, I'd be reluctant to turn on lights while someone was still sleeping. Curtains are not completely room darkening. Bed and pillows are comfortable. Nice wet bar with microwave, two small fridges and a Keurig. Easy to connect chromecast for streaming from a tablet, and netflix is already an option on the tv. Plenty of electrical and usb plugs around the suite. Nice large shower with good water pressure. Water is treated a little too soft, but the pressure makes up for it. Plenty of counter room around two sinks. Room service was ok, nothing great. They deliver breakfast in a paper bowl, meh. An advantage of staying in a suite was having real silverware, plates and glassware in the wet bar. They're currently requiring 24 hour notice for mid-stay full room refreshing, but asking they just empty trash and drop off fresh towels wasn't a problem. Overall it was a comfortable stay. If it's convenient to where you're going in Austin, I'd recommend. I understand they've been bought and expect to see some changes before a return visit, so keep an eye on their site for updates and here for newer reviews.

Mark M.

Yelp
On this most recent visit to Hotel Viata we were very impressed with the bar more specifically the outdoor seating area. A very warm and inviting area with fireplace and great lighting, the latter of which I don't recall under the previous brand. A great add. This is a great choice if you want to avoid the downtown Austin chaos and just want to relax.

Joanne M.

Yelp
Loved this place. Our room was impeccable. I have no idea what the complaints are about. Check-in was easy and the guy was friendly. The room has a very spacious shower. It's got a regal feel-the entire hotel. Very happy with our stay.

Michael N.

Yelp
Hotel service is abysmal. We came in for game weekend. $950 for two nights. Small room. Poor towels. Average beds. Left hotel at 9 am to go to game. Asked for early room make up and returned to hotel at 445 to get ready for dinner. Maid had just started her work. Did a good job but very annoying for $475 per night.

Mike H.

Yelp
The waiter stood by as my mother choked on their food, and then he defended the chef. I hope this place burns down, and the waiter better hope I never run into him again.

Madeleine H.

Yelp
Great dog friendly hotel. Super friendly staff. The restaurant just opened and was very relaxing. We heard the spa opens next week and we are bummed to have missed out on that!

Lillie L.

Yelp
Where do I begin? Checked in Saturday afternoon. Lobby layout is atypical for a hotel that size. Very small reception desk off to the right as you enter surrounded by a few merchandise displays which look odd right in front of the reception area but they obviously don't have any other space that could be a gift shop. Got to the room which was not the one I had booked. Had no balcony only a window which I'm not even sure you could open. I have claustrophobia and need to be able to open a window or doors to a balcony. Had to go back to reception and swap room card keys. Got to the new room and it was satisfactory. Observations on room: dirty carpet. Pillow selection was not varied enough. They were all down pillows with the same loft. Even lower end hotels are now offering more than one type of pillow because they know ppl vary on what's comfortable. Bathroom was good size, makeup mirror, hair dryer. Toiletries that were theft proof which makes me wonder what caliber of guests they have. Had room service which was good by room service standards. Next morning we were up early to go out to a planned event. Used the in-room Keurig and noticed the "liquid" creamer was not in the fridge but instead on the counter and as could be expected as soon as I poured the creamer into my coffee it curdled. Had to call downstairs to get creamer. Went to shower and there was no soap, no shampoo, no conditioner. Called the front desk because housekeeping didn't answer and requested they be sent up. Waited 40 minutes for items that should have been in the room before we checked in. One of my pet peeves is no exhaust fan in bathrooms. They had none. The wait for toiletries delayed us and caused unnecessary stress to a weekend away. There are no elevators that connect the hotel to the parking garage so any time you go out to your car you have to go through the lobby down a steep driveway to the garage. But the piece de resistance had to be Monday morning 8:30 a.m. Had got up at 8 and was in my robe lying in bed drinking the coffee I had just made, when the announcement came over the emergency system that a fire alarm had been activated and everyone in the hotel needed to evacuate. Down the stairs 3 floors (at least we weren't on the 9th floor) and standing outside as the fire dept. arrived. Everyone was standing around and we decided to just go get coffee. Came back about 30 minutes later and the fire dept. was still outside but guests were allowed to re-enter the building via stairs. We walked up 3 flights and midway I heard someone slam the outside door closed. When we got to the 3rd floor, the door was locked so we had to go back downstairs to the 1st floor exit. By this time, my claustrophobia was in high gear. I couldn't wait to get to the first floor and make sure we could exit. When we checked out, there were no apologies, no nothing. There was a woman at the front desk as my husband approached to check out and she was very upset about something. My recommendation: go somewhere else. The hotel seems short staffed and there are signs that things are being neglected both of which indicate money problems. Bottomline: The positives were outweighed by the negatives.

Cindy B.

Yelp
Very nice. Spending the night here recovering from surgery. Location, Check in, valet, room, room service - all excellent. 100% recommend. p.s. - can't try the bar bc of meds.boo....but, next time.

Brian S.

Yelp
Overplayed sense of opulence. It is a property that thinks more highly of what they are than reality. Big wooden doors that pretend to be from a bygone European era but are just faux. Over stuffed chairs in the lobby and sitting rooms that would look more at home in a high fashion Tuscan style home from the early 2000s than in a hotel. We stayed on a winter special rate of 218.00 and I just felt cheated considering how much of the experience feels forced. This place has a normal rate in the mid $300 range. The bathroom in the room are the highlight in spite of the wrought iron fixtures that just look cheap. The tile shower is first rate but they should put in high end shower heads. Cheap Kholer crap rather than Rainshower heads that the room deserves. The beds are too soft but have excellent linens. The staff was super friendly and tried so hard to be helpful that it was annoying. Who walks with guests over to the elevator? We were pounced on anytime we entered the lobby to see if we needed something. It just all felt a bit staged, stiff and forced. I prefer a high end hotel to be more relaxed and comfortable when tending to the needs of the guests. I guess the owners are just waiting on the cash cow called Apple which opens in a few months in the gleaming high tech building next door. The whole experience just felt out of phase. Next time give me a Westin or The W. They have it nailed for what a luxury hotel should be.

Charlie Wendy C.

Yelp
We had a lovely staycation at this hotel. We enjoyed time at the spa and relaxing in the hot tub. Everyone that worked at the hotel and the restaurant were very kind and accommodating.

Rachal R.

Yelp
I'm staying here post surgery and it is the most comfortable stay, great beds, nice robes and slippers, complimentary wine in your room. The really amazing part of our stay is the staff and FOOD! Reasonably price for normal portions, but there's are massive and delicious! Luis was the best waiter I've ever had! He's so friendly, attentive, accommodating... I live in Austin and think I'll make this my go-to brunch spot. Thank y'all for such a seamless and comfortable stay

Trey C.

Yelp
Vented doors to the bathroom that has a curtain for the toilet. Huge lack of privacy if you are not traveling alone. Big miss. Will not stay or recommend this hotel to anyone. Common no one wants to take a dump in public. Wow! Wish we had booked someplace with a solid door. Wow, just wow Do not book here if you want privacy. Room door deadbolts do not work and no other security latch on door.

Anne Y.

Yelp
The restaurant is both a lovely space and a lovely dining experience. We didn't stay at the hotel so the rating is for the restaurant. I particularly enjoyed the variety of menu items. We were too early for music and am sorry we missed it!

Christian D.

Yelp
Beautiful place to stay in Austin, away from the hustle and bustle of downtown but close enough to get there in 15 minutes. Even with the issue of accidental cancellation from the online software, Adam and Delayna went above and beyond to make sure my wife and I could stay during an insanely busy week as the Consensus crypto conference took place. We had an amazing time talking and learning from Iggy at the bar (must meet), and we were able to maximize the value of our business trip with good friends, great service, and an awesome experience. Let the people come!

Nikki M.

Yelp
5 Star Review due to management providing excellent customer service. My reservation was for a Big Milestone 50th Anniversary Getaway for my parents. No issues at checkin and you will get a parking pass to put in your car to self-park if that is included in your package. My parents arrived and the pool/jacuzzi area was shutdown due to a patron "breaking the rules" and bringing glass to the pool which broke and so the pool and jacuzzi were being drained, cleaned, and may take a couple weeks until they are up and running again. Dear future patrons, please follow the rules and respect the environment as other people are paying good money to enjoy the amenities too. It is important to note, there are no bathtubs in the first three room options and only the last two suite options. My parents reported "the hotel itself was lovely and beautiful." The manager graciously put my parents up in a comparable hotel in downtown Austin with a working pool and jacuzzi for my parents to enjoy. So thank you to the manager that took good care of my parents. This was a major milestone celebration for them and I know they appreciated your superior customer service. Feedback: I never received a confirmation email prior to checkin (yes I checked my spam folder multiple times as well as confirming the correct email via phone on two separate occasions). I take screenshots to reference in cases like these so I'm glad I did, but should not have been necessary. The person on the phone was polite, but seemed to want to get me off the phone asap as they kept giving me the closure statement when I had a couple questions to gather info for my parents on how to park and ease of checkin. Maybe additional training would be nice so patrons don't feel like they are the "hot potato" a person is trying to get rid of. There was no option online or via phone to put the reservation in my parents' name when I was paying. Was told 3pm is check-in on the phone, but online says 4pm.

Yelp
Cute hotel built in the Austin Hills. The staff was friendly and courteous. Valet team was quickly and friendly as well. Note: regardless if you valet or self park, you still pay for parking. The room was clean for the most part. I found a open candy wrapper on the dresser by the TV. You have a heavily stocked coffee bar, which was great - I always turn down room service on my stays so it was plenty of coffee for the week. The light bulb above the shower was out so it was a little dark, but it could have burnt out after they cleaned the room and didn't know. I wasn't a fan of the curtain blocking off the toilet. It doesn't move so you have to oddly move around it. The pillows were small, and soft. I had to get the 5th pillow from the closet to get myself comfortable. Otherwise the hotel was great. Had a great view from my room. Very Italian and classy feel to the place. Oh, just note: There isn't much around the area so plan on staying at the hotel once you are in.

Yelp
We just returned home from our trip to Austin, TX. We stayed at the Hotel Viata. What a wonderful experience. Everything about the Hotel was top quality. The employees were so kindhearted, professional and efficient. The Hotel was recently renovated into an Italian themed decor which is beautifully designed. The rooms are large suites, with a kitchenette, living room, French doors into the bedroom, a walk-in closet with a dresser, lock box, white robes, slippers, and plenty of room to hang clothes. The bathroom was huge with a walk in shower where four people could fit into, double sinks, and a closet with the toilet for privacy. Two large TV's, a desk, The views are scenic. The Hotel is up on a hill side, away from the traffic, hustle and bustle. Then there is a full Spa section, for massages, body treatments, facials and more, with beautiful spa and soothing music playing, and a lovely scent pumped through the vents. A spectacular pool area and hot tub, with a bar and seating area where you can order food and drinks. Cabana's if you want privacy and plenty of lounge chairs and umbrellas. The fitness room is very nice as well. There is also a restaurant and bar, that has an outdoor seating area with a fire place, which is very inviting. We didn't personally eat there, with talking to other guests they all said that the food is really good. The Hotel is so very peaceful, luxurious, quiet and clean. We highly recommend this resort like Hotel, and personally look forward to returning here when we come back to Austin. Thank you for the great hospitality.

Yelp
We have stayed here several times as we were married here shortly after they opened, and I had my baby shower here! It's so special to be able to come back to the place where we share so many memories. However, this was our first time staying since the renovation. It seems that we were upgraded at checkin, and our suite was lovely and VERY clean. My husband and I tried two different treatments at the spa as they only have one massage therapist on the weekends (so they couldn't do a couple's massage). My facial was fantastic, and I appreciated that the esthetician recommended products for me that weren't only sold in the spa. It's so easy to be pressured into products at spas, and my experience was far from that. The locker room was pleasant and clean. As we checked out of the spa, the receptionist let me know that they were sending up a sweet treat since we were celebrating our anniversary! This hotel has never made us feel like anything less than royalty, even with the new ownership. We decided to dine out for dinner and breakfast so we did not try the new restaurant. I am sorry to share that I did not love the renovation to the bar. It is lovely and I'm sure we would have thought it was great if we did not see the old bar.. but the old bar was so beautiful and cozy. The new bar is very modern, white, and bright at night. This is just a personal opinion, but I just really loved the way the bar looked before. Overall, it was an amazing experience, as always.

Yelp
We came to Hotel Viata for our anniversary dinner in downtown. Check in service was a little clunky but no big deal. We went to dinner and came back and had 2 drinks at the bar, then we decided to check out the heated pool area. The hotel itself is beautiful and the amenities it offers are spectacular, however there was a mixup at the pool bar that was an honest mistake yet I was made to feel that I was lying or that I had forgotten (aka too drunk) how many drinks we got at the pool. This happened on Friday night, I called Saturday when we got our bill, I was told someone would call me back by the end of the day, I called again around 7pm and this is where he insinuated i was not aware how many drinks we ordered, he told me I would get a call back from accounting on monday, tuesday at the latest. I called accounting tuesday early afternoon and they had not heard about the issue, the man was initially nice but when he realized I was going to get a refund, he sounded more frustrated, as if he still didnt believe what i was saying and that he was only doing it to appease me. This hotel is too expensive and rated as a 4 star hotel for motel 6 service. Its very disappointing because we had a great time other than the MINOR $40 mix up that no one wanted to hear me out about.

Yelp
This is one of the most beautiful grandest hotels I have stayed in. It rivals the Saint Regis and HOUSTON even though the Saint Regis appears grander. The rooms the well appointed and the service is outstanding. From the door hop to the reception to the restaurant to the turndown service - just everything was flawless . The carpet in our room had some stains but I was willing to ignore that . The warm bathrobe and slippers were a beautiful treat . The shower - well I guess a few of us could have slept in it - spacious and beautiful . The courtyard with it's beautifully lit Christmas tree and strong lights reminded me of the piazzas of Rome. The hotel, bases its Decour on all things Italian and manages to do it extremely successfully. The Frisco's in the paintings, although I'm sure not authentic, fit in beautifully and helped make the hotel spectacular . A must stay.

Yelp
This is a very nice hotel tucked away in the hills. The facilities and staff were top notch. I had a non working lamp in my room and requested a rubber bath mat for the shower and both issues were promptly addressed. There are no ice machines on the individual floors and your ice is delivered to your room. Seemed a little awkward, but maybe that's how it's done in Italy. There is a parking garage right next to the hotel that is shared with the Apple office building next door. You can only use the lower floors when the Apple office is closed, so you need to either park on the very top floor (no elevator access) or get up early enough to move your car before the Apple employees arrive for work. A better option may be to just valet every time you arrive and let them mess with it. If I could give half stars on this review, it would be a 4 1/2 rating.

Yelp
Hotel Granduca is a two location chain with a third opening in Italy, by an Italian contractor family based in Houston. The millennial son was gifted with the Austin location by his parents upon graduation from UT business school. The hotel building is fairly new, only four years old. We stayed two nights at Hotel Granduca for a wedding reception our friends held here. We only paid $128/night through hoteltonight.com It's probably closer to a three and a half star rating as there's no permanent on site spa or bath tub in the room. The wedding reception held was the nicest $60k budget wedding I've ever attended. The food was terrible, but the ambiance was romantic with a beautiful courtyard. The best part of the $120/head meal was the gluten and dairy free salad. What I love about this hotel is that they allow dogs totaling up to fifty pounds. The valets and bellboys were all really nice. The front desk customer service was hit or miss, and they didn't offer more than two choices of massages with the traveling masseuse. There's a large parking garage, free for guests not staying overnight. The front desk was kind enough to grant us one extra hour of late check-out at no additional charge. If you're sharing a room with a non family member, you probably wouldn't feel as comfortable pooping over a curtain wall. My husband and I were comfortable enough, and thought it was a beautiful hotel for a great steal. There's a bathroom slatted wooden panel door; there's no toilet door and no loud vent to muffle your plops.

Yelp
I have stayed many times at Hotel Granduca due to its proximity to my work. It is a beautiful hotel and I have always received great customer service. My room is always spacious and has good views of the hills. The pool is very pretty. It is salt water and always the perfect temperature. There is also a jacuzzi. For parking, there is valet. You can text them 15 minutes before you need your car, which is very convenient. You can also self park in the parking garage. The reason I gave three stars instead Of five is for the pool condition in the morning. The pool opens at 6:00am and I went down at 7:00am to find trash everywhere from the night before. Sad that people don't clean up after themselves but there should be someone to make sure the pool is ready for the day.

Yelp
Hotel Granduca Austin initially comes across as a beautiful hotel that wants to give an Italian feel. They should have stopped at the design. They also give the inhospitality, lack of communication, unexpected fees, and fraud that tourist Europe is known for. The whole reason for this trip was for my Fiancée and I to see if this would be a good location for a wedding venue for a destination wedding. All it has is that it is a beautiful setting on a beautiful city. That is not enough to overcome what we experienced during our stay. I'd rather hold our wedding and reception at any lower end chain hotel. Issue 1, Communication: When booking our room (Granduca Suite) my Fiancée and I requested early check in and a top floor room. We received no communication to indicate that the hotel couldn't accommodate these requests. Issue 2, Parking: Self parking is not free. There are many references on yelp and trip advisor (even coming from hotel representatives) that indicate self parking is free. The only complimentary parking is 0-4 hours valet. Issue 3, Early check in: We arrived 1.5 hours early and the room was not available. We had them hold our luggage so we could look around the hotel and wait while the room was being cleaned. Our "early" check in was 15 minutes before check in time. Issue 4, Rudeness: When bringing up the free self parking, the woman at the front desk was completely confused. She refused to acknowledge any 3rd party travel app information. Even the hotel representative information. She made it feel like we deeply offended her and that we didn't deserve any type of hospitality because of this. Issue 5, Accommodation: We were given the lowest possible floor for the suite we booked. We specifically asked for the top when booking the hotel! Issue 6, Fraud: The room we booked was stated to have "Juliet balconies". These "balconies" are just ledges with safety railings so you can open a door and not fall out. Googles definition is "a very shallow balcony with a safety railing on an upper story of a building." This doesn't even fit into that loose definition. Issue 7, Rudeness 2: We were met with disdain when calling to get our room changed to a higher floor and our dissatisfaction with the "balconies". We were told that the whole hotel was booked and we couldn't change rooms, they were on a first come first serve (We arrived early). Then after a few more calls, we were told there was another room and were made to wait another hour before it was ready. Issue 8, Competence: The bed is comfortable and the pillows are soft. Too soft for our liking and we woke up with sore necks. We called down and asked for firmer pillows. It took 4 tries throughout 2 days to get anything that wasn't the normal pillow. Issue 9, Competence 2/Cleanliness: There was a stain on our blanket and we asked for it to be changed out. We left the room to eat and for housekeeping to replace it. They didn't. They just made the bed and we had the stain the entire stay. Issue 10, Fraud 2: During all of this, we did get them to drop the fee for self parking. We had verbal confirmation of this. We were still within the complimentary 4 hour valet time. So on check out we were told there was a valet fee and we had to argue that we only had the valet for about 3 hours and that was the only time we used valet. Issue 11, Rudeness 3/Internal communication: On checkout there was a person at the front desk that we weren't familiar with. When we told her about the self parking she had no clue what we were talking about. Her attitude towards us was the exact same as the woman's who checked us in and we had to go over the entire argument again.

Yelp
We ate at Hotel Viata's restaurant in Austin on January 20, 2023 and we were thoroughly impressed with the food quality! I had the spaghetti and impossible meatballs (made from mushrooms) and it was absolutely incredible. The meatballs were delicious beyond belief. My wife had the salmon with spicy corn and she loved it as well. The manager, George, came by and asked us how we enjoyed our meal, which we appreciated, and discussed his plans for the restaurant. The hostess, Brooke, was extremely cordial and gave us our choice of tables. What a hidden gem!

Yelp
This is a very nice hotel with good service. The view of hills is nice perk. They have a decent size outdoor pool that is clean and well maintained. There is also a jacuzzi. If you stay at this hotel, you will need a car. There is nothing really walking distance from the hotel.

Yelp
When they say they are located in the heart of hill country, they are not lying! My room had such an incredible view! Everything from the staff to the hotel itself was perfect. I had called the morning of check-in to request an early check-in. They were completely fine with this. Most hotels are a strict no on this. I also enjoyed that it was still quiet in the room, knowing there were other guests in the rooms around me. With the Apple campus right next door not having any employees work in the office, this allowed me not to get charged a service fee for Parking as well. Next time I'm in Austin, I know where I'll be staying! I

Yelp
Until they make their rooms more business traveler friendly by adding to and changing the outlets to non child proof versions, I can't give them 5 stars. Also, is it just me, or does nobody else know how to check your voicemail messages on your room phone? I've tried several different ways, and am unable to do so. Looks like they have improved the coffee options for the Keurig by including Torani italian roast. Yay!

Yelp
I love the Granduca in Houston and had been waiting to try the Granduca in Austin for awhile. The property is lovely, but the stay was not what I expected. They recently reopened after being closed for about a year. They have clearly not staffed up as a hotel of this level should. We pulled up to check in and there was no valet, no porter. Once we realized that nobody was coming out, we self-parked our car (down the hill) and carried our bags in. They charged for the parking nonetheless. The rest of the trip was similar. We went to the bar to order at happy hour and there was one bartender working despite the bar area being full and loud. When we finally ordered, the bartender was looking away and of course wearing a mask, so we couldn't understand what he was saying. Additional trips to the bar/restaurant were similar. Long wait for someone to show up and serve us. Servers wearing dirty jeans. Explaining that it took them a long time to serve us because they were late to work. No coffee available in the morning (just an empty coffee pot on the coffee bar). Garbage near the elevator not picked up. Amenity kits that had already been partially used by other guests. This hotel is really bringing down the Granduca brand, in my opinion.

Yelp
I booked this hotel through Hotwire and not knowing which hotel I got, I was really disappointed at the location - being that it's so far away from downtown. But you know what I am so glad it's away from downtown now! A reprieve from the hustle and bustle of big city Austin. The drive up to the hotel makes you feel as if you are somewhere in Italy. And the old world charm of the hotel adds to that ambience. It's refreshing to stay in a place that's not shiny and modern. And let me tell you about service. Very friendly front staff who greets you as you leave and comes back. I mean I feel like they keep track of their guest. Now that's service! A knock at night from housekeeping asking us if we need anything as she delivers chocolate. I mean common - free chocolate! Yes please! It's a full service hotel complete with room service, a in-house restaurant, bar and music entertainment at night. The gym was nice and clean. The pool area pleasant and relaxing. We stayed 3 nights and on the Saturday morning, they had complimentary tea/coffee bar which was a nice touch. Can't get that at these big chain hotels so worried about cost cutting. I must say it was quieter when we arrived Thursday night but by Friday, the hotel was a little busier. Our room had a great view of the hills and greenery. One thing that I found odd was the curtain in the bathroom separating the toilet area to the vanity. But it's a minor quirk.
