"How did it strike you on arrival?The hotel is positioned on a hill overlooking south Austin's hilly terrain. The rather typical-looking stucco exterior belies a European palazzo-inspired courtyard on the building's backside. Nice. What’s the crowd like?This hotel feels worlds away from downtown-hipster Austin: Empty-nesters carefully study the European wine list in the Northern Italian-inspired restaurant, while business travelers go for nightcaps in the billiards parlor or cigars on the courtyard. The good stuff: Tell us about your room.Like the rest of the hotel, the rooms are designed to mimic an Italian villa. Tiled floors, rich woods, and a library of books create a residential feel. Request a room on a higher floor, which have a small Juliette balcony and views all the way to downtown. We’re craving some deep, restorative sleep. They got us?The mattress is firm and the sheets are comfortable. How about the little things, like mini bar, or shower goodies. Any of that find its way into your suitcase?Suites have kitchenettes and, no matter what room type you book, you'll get a complimentary bottle of wine during your stay.
