I recently stayed at Hotel Yountville for four nights. Incredibly so, I never had time to check out the pool and restaurant. More to do next time, I suppose.
Arrived late on a Thursday and quickly breezed into our room. We had a one story room with vaulted ceilings and, therefore, no need to worry about potential second floor neighbors stumping around. Spotless, spacious, and quintessential Napa, I really liked this room. Instantly relaxed by the nature sounds coming from the bedside table radio (now I want to buy one), I played them as often as I could. As most hotels nowadays, they should update the iPhone charger those systems bring. Apple really screwed them all given the constant phone updates. Perhaps offering a converter's a good start? Otherwise, it's unusable.
HITS The real fireplace, small courtyard, and in-room amenities (lush robes, comfortable slippers, great/varied toiletries, much-used umbrellas, and soft towels) were a nice plus! We never used the full turn-down service, but I loved the extra Voss water bottles and Kollar chocolates at night. Nice touch! The bed felt a little softer than I prefer, but not uncomfortable. The large, yet quaint lobby is beautiful and felt like someone's living room. There's also a small bar which seemed to be very popular with the guests especially late at night (probably because Yountville nightlife is pretty much nonexistent). The outside terrace had the fireplace on most of the time, one of my favorite relaxing spots.
MISSES The extra large width of the tub's border made getting in and out a little challenging. Not having a full privacy door on the shower was a little odd, but I got used to it. The air-conditioner's coldest setting meant its fan stayed on humming quietly in the background, but the ac itself kept turning on and off loudly as it cooled. All. Night. Long. and sometimes woke me up. It's also a good thing I love sleeping with a ceiling fan. It was the only way to evenly distribute the cold air within the room, otherwise some areas were significantly warmer than others. Hotel Yountville does not have a gym set up yet, but does offer recreational bikes for guest use.
ADDITIONAL NOTES The walk to Bouchon Bakery (a must) is a little further than the other hotels in Yountville, but still close enough. Bistro Jeanty, Ad Hoc, and Redd are closest to the hotel. Given it's directly off the highway, the hotel is extremely accessible. Uber is now widely available in the valley, but as an added plus the hotel has a complimentary car that one can book for nearby drop-off and pick-up. Most of the restaurants are walking distance, but a little trickier in heels. Needless to say, we used that car often, even to Saint Helena.
Overall, I enjoyed my stay and will consider this location when booking my next trip.
