As a hospitality professional, I hesitate to write negative reviews because I understand how hard the staff works for low pay. However, I cannot recommend this hotel for several reasons. My friend didn't have a hair dryer, her safe was malfunctioning, and they provided only one towel, with no spare towels available at the front desk. We were informed that towels were only distributed at 1 PM or 5 PM during housekeeping hours. The rooms were extremely tiny.
Additionally, the doors wouldn't close properly unless we slammed them shut, and housekeeping entered my room twice without knocking, even once before check-out time when I wasn’t fully dressed. The staff seemed upset when my friend, who didn’t have her own reservation, stored her bag in my room while waiting to check in to her hotel. She also joined us for drinks one night and napped in my bed, which led the hotel to charge us a $100 fee for an extra guest and repeatedly harass us about registering her.
Even after she checked into her own room at another hotel, the staff continued to confront us about the matter, scolding us in front of other guests when we arrived for dinner. One front office employee misheard me and responded rudely by saying, “I’m not aggressive.” I didn’t even say anything about him. When I addressed these issues with the manager, I couldn’t believe how insulting she was; instead of listening, she became defensive and argued back. She claimed the hairdryer was delivered, which it wasn’t. My friend had to store her valuables with the front office and use my hairdryer.
On a separate occasion, I visited their bar where the staff flirted with me and suggested taking me home. The manager’s reply to my complaint about the staff being rude was the following in a sarcastic and insulting manner, “Well you didn’t think they were rude when you were enjoying yourself with the staff the other night at the bar.” Her comment felt incredibly inappropriate, unprofessional, dismissive and added to my disbelief at her earlier behavior. She reluctantly waived the 100 euros extra person fee, which was posted on my folio without my knowledge.
The food fell far short of Michelin quality; in fact, I couldn't even finish my dinner because it was so poorly prepared. We also ate at the bar, & the pizza came unsliced and was quite bland. The beef tartare had an odd taste, so we opted for carpaccio instead.
Making dinner reservations for three was also difficult. I had to repeat my request several times because the staff failed to communicate effectively with one another. They kept saying, they couldn’t accommodate a table for three. Instead of taking responsibility, they blamed us for their miscommunication and oversight.
On the day of checkout, I woke up late and ended up checking out later than planned. I hurried to pack my belongings but needed to retrieve my items from the safe. While I was out, the housekeeping staff entered my room and removed my belongings without my permission.
All of this could have been avoided with better communication and professionalism. If they had been kind and courteous, I would have willingly accepted the extra person charge had it been their strict policy. I truly don't understand how they can treat paying guests this way. I will never stay at this hotel again. It ruined my entire experience in Ischgl. The only good aspect about the hotel was its location.
*Update* After I wrote my initial review, the staff extracted CCTV footage of me and emailed it to intimidate me, which is a serious violation of my privacy and against Austrian data protection laws. They continue to harass me and my friends. Additionally, we tried to cancel a restaurant reservation because we had checked out. Despite calling hours in advance to cancel, the staff confirmed it would be done without penalty, yet I was still charged over $452 usd for a reservation I never made. Verbal agreements are legally binding in Austria. My review reflects my genuine experience at this hotel. I stand by my comments and my evidence support them. **Avoid this place! **
