"In this long-standing family business, the dedication of the Scherle brothers is plain to see. Their seasonal, modern take on classic cuisine successfully incorporates Japanese influences. The dishes are skilfully structured with cleverly integrated contrasts. There are three menus to choose from, one of which is vegetarian. The decor also appeals with its effective combination of modern elements and rustic details featuring beautiful old oak wood. From the terrace you can admire the large koi carp pool – a true koi enthusiast, Jörg Scherle even has his own koi company. The walk-in vaulted cellar (1870) is home to over 1 600 wines and some 200 spirits! The style of the hotel guestrooms ranges from rural to elegant." - Michelin Inspector

Rooms were clean, but that’s all the hotel had going for it. Extremely cold and unwelcoming arrival at reception, room was so warm that despite putting AC on it remained boiling throughout my stay. All furniture was tired and dated. Half tech didn’t work in room. Soulless would be an accurate description for the hotel.

The hotel was very nice and we enjoyed our stay. ||My sister and I were traveling with our brother so it was great that he had his own room and we shared a bathroom in our own private space. The rooms were also quite large. We had a nice view of a Koi pond and our brother was on the street. You'll want ear plugs on that side for the Straßenbahn runs right outside your window. ||Even though we found the most incredible (upscale) food at restaurants in walking distance of the hotel, we didn't feel safe at all if you walk out of the hotel and turn left going downhill. Sex shops and things like that are only a block away. ||If you walk outside the hotel and go right, up the hill, then cross the street at the first Straßenbahn station, you will find some of the best authentic upscale Italian food restaurant. ||The receptionists were all very helpful and they had a nice elevator we took to our rooms. ||Both rooms had air-conditioning, but the AC in our brothers room was much cooler than ours. The beds were comfortable and there were plenty of outlets. ||The bathroom was nice but we struggled with space for our toiletries and our makeup. They did have a great lighted magnifying mirror. The shower has a glass half wall in the tub which I don't love since it's easy for water to get out and into the floor. ||We didn't eat at the hotels restaurant since you needed reservations, but the receptionist didn't tell us this at check-in. ||Breakfast at this hotel is not included. If you choose to have their breakfast, it is 16 EU pp.

My overall stay at the Zur Weinsteige has no complaints at all. I was given a warm welcome when I arrived, and given great advice on how to get around Stuttgart since it was my first visit to the area, which i thought was nice. One of the staff took me to my room, which was in the castle at the rear, The room was spotless and spacious. There is a nice seating area near a koi fish pond, which is a great place to enjoy a relaxing glass 😊 The food that I had was excellent, and the breakfast is mostly continental. However, I asked for an egg omelette, which was no trouble at all. The staff are very friendly and attentive. I had a totally enjoyable experience here and would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.

My stay here was pretty good. I thought the hotel was beautiful. I stayed in a "castle room" and it was decent size for one person. I found the shower strange with the glass partition over just half of it so a lot of water ends up on the floor. I think this is a Germany thing though because my next hotel in Munich had the same partition. |Bed was soft and comfy, another Germany quirk is no top sheet but just a duvet. A/C worked well. Breakfast was just ok, lots of breads and cheese and the waitress asked if we wanted an omelette and it was a decent cheese omelette but honestly, we skipped the breakfast the second day because we were underwhelmed. |The Koi pond in back was beautiful! A nice surprise. |Parking was TIGHT so if you have bigger car good luck. Onsite parking was great to have though (for a fee). |I didn't have an ipad in my room but my friend did and she said it didn't really do anything. I also didn't know I had a mini bar in my room until checkout... probably a good thing ;) |All in all enjoyed my stay - staff was very friendly and made me feel welcome.

We had one night here with the kids and we got a very nice and roomy apartment. We got a very professional and friendly service from all the staff- the front desk and the dining room. The hotel has a very convenient parking place. The location is about 3 km from the center of the city but we used our car anyway.

We had an amazing two night stay at Hotel Zurich Weinsteige with our family of three. We arrived at the hotel four hours before scheduled check-in and the hotel was more than happy for us to leave our suitcases whilst we went out and explored Stuttgart. Upon our return we found the staff had already taken all of our luggage up to our room for us. The breakfast is well worth the extra money. All staff were so friendly and helpful from giving us recommendations, maps, calling taxi for us. The hotel is close to a Lidl and numerous pizza and kebab shops for a quick meal. We would definitely stay again.

Great hotel. The rooms were affordable and clean. The bathrooms are updated and clean. Staff was very friendly and helpful (and spoke English). Nice quick elevator and fast wifi. The parking is very limited and the spaces are small. Getting into a spot to some patience when the hotel was full. There's a terrace with a world class koi pond.

Yelp
Really beautiful hotel! When we arrived the woman who took our luggage was really kind and was great. When we came back she was gone and from there for two nights the service wasn't good. First of all, we loved our room. It was so clean and really comfortable. The bathroom was beautiful as well. The air conditioner made weird noises at times and when I turned it off, I don't know how but all the cold air immediately disappeared and it became so hot again. Also, for more decor they had a koi pond outside on the terrace which was kind of weird because there were tons of giant koi in there but the pond was small. The hotel doesn't have an elevator so lugging our luggage was a pain. The hotel has a Michelin restaurant and bar. We didn't eat at the restaurant, but when I looked inside I wasn't impressed when I saw a wailing baby just crying for so long which we could hear when we left the room. I don't think restaurants of this caliber let in young children. Also, the severs and front desk people are the same, so when I'm waiting for someone at the front desk they have to come from the restaurant to assist me which I thought was really strange. Then we did try the bar, which had many wine options, but we received poor service here. First of all they didn't let us try the wine before the full pour. And then the man who was rude to us the whole time since we arrived couldn't give us any wine or brandy recommendations. He would just read out the menu like we couldn't read it and then he had no knowledge of anything. However, I tried the only dessert wine by the glass available and the dessert wine I had was so good and probably one of the best ones I've had. This same man rudely told us we had to leave the bar so he could go home and that we could continue drinking in our room. Usually, you're allowed to continue to sit in the lobby area where the bar is. Another disappointment was when the phone in the room wasn't working and I asked this man about it and he rudely told me to use my own phone, but I insisted on wanting the room phone to work so he hesitantly came up to the room to fix it. Lastly, I wanted to get a razor kit from the desk and the same man begrudgingly helped me. And I didn't even realize this basic thing cost money until we checked out. Overall, I have mixed feelings. The hotel is beautiful and the room was phenomenal. But the service was probably the worst service I've ever experienced at a hotel. Also the location of the hotel was ok. Not sure if I can recommend this place or would stay there again with that level of service.

Yelp
Two nights here as base while I explore Stuttgart and Baden-Württemberg. It's a classic hotel with a bar and restaurant. This is old school. Friendly service and the woman who checked me in spoke perfect English. I had prepaid the booking with Expedia (through Chase Travel) and there were no issues. There is no lift so it was a bit of a hassle to pull my big suitcase up two staircases to my room but otherwise, a good stay. The room was quiet despite facing the street. Clean and with a full shower. Bed was comfortable enough for a single and I noticed late in my stay that it has a motor to lift the back if you want to sit and read. There are a couple of restaurants near by and a LIDL down the hill. You'll want to walk downhill to Olgaeck to leave and then use Dobelstraße to arrive. Save yourself climbing the hill! I did not eat in the restaurant during my stay but the breakfast buffet did look impressive. [Review 21242 overall - 246 in Germany - 207 of 2024.]

Yelp
Stayed at the hotel & had a really wonderful meal at the restaurant. A regional steak, Spätzle & a local ravioli that made my night. A very nice wine list, all at a quite reasonable price. Glad to have discovered this gem.
