Contemporary cafe serving select coffees, teas, wines, craft beer & pastries in a chill setting.
"This espresso-focused coffee bar is heaven for hardcore coffee nerds around town. The rotating selections of beans are highlighted by simple and well-executed preparation. All four locations (this in Rosedale and the others in downtown, East Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, Rock Rose, and far east Austin) feature clean and welcoming designs, as well as a great selection of tools to take home-brewing to the next level. Along with espresso drinks, there are beans, gallon cold brews, iced coffees, hot coffees, and alternative milks (almond, oat, soy). Takeout orders can be placed online or in person; there are indoor and outdoor areas." - Nadia Chaudhury, Erin Russell
"There are several locations of the coffee shop Houndstooth in Austin (and a few in Dallas). The one downtown is in the base of the Frost Bank Tower – it’s so tucked in you could easily miss it walking by. But people downtown know it’s there, and during peak hours it can get pretty busy and loud, so it’s not ideal for a long work session. They're also totally unafraid to blast old-school hip hop. There are pastries, lots of tea options, and Tacodeli tacos. Most importantly, you'll find that Houndstooth serves some of the best coffee you’ll find not just downtown, but in all of Austin. There's also wine and beer for when you need to chill out after drinking coffee all day." - Raphael Brion
"Houndstooth Cafe’s boozy location features a new day-long happy hour with different specials every day, including $8 cocktails and half-off wine by the bottle on Wednesdays." - Nadia Chaudhury
"Houndstooth Coffee has opened its newest cafe on East Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, offering a menu that includes cocktails. The owners, Sean and Paul Henry, focus on both brewed coffee and espresso, contributing to the vibrant Austin coffee scene." - Nadia Chaudhury
"Houndstooth Coffee’s third Austin location is now open on 2823 East Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. The East Austin cafe is currently open under limited hours from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. for this week. While it’s the first local location boasting of a cocktail menu, the mixed drinks won’t be available during that time for now. It'll expand with the full menu and hours on Saturday, February 10. The new Houndstooth, much like the other two local locations, will serve up thoughtful espresso drinks, beer, and wine as well. The space features a patio, U-shaped counter, bar-seating, comfortable chairs, and more. The cafe opened up within mixed-use development Platform. When it expands into regular hours, this Houndstooth’s full hour will be from 6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, 6:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, and 6:30 a.m. to midnight Friday through Saturday." - Nadia Chaudhury
