Chill downtown café dishing out amazing craft coffees, teas, and pastries, perfect for a quick bite or a cozy chat on the patio.
"Coffee fans should head straight to this downtown cafe for a perfect cup of joe. Takeout orders can be placed online or in person; there are indoor and outdoor dine-in areas." - Nadia Chaudhury
"Houndstooth makes some of the best coffee in Austin, and you’ll find the Downtown location hidden in the base of the Frost Bank Tower. You can tell this place pays attention to the details—like the slick decoration of the space, and exactly how loud to blast old-school hip hop so that you can still talk to the baristas about the pros and cons of oat milk. During peak hours it can get pretty busy and noisy, so it’s not ideal for a long work session or interview, but it’s fine for a meeting or just hanging out." - raphael brion, nicolai mccrary
"The coffee experts over at all locations of Houndstooth also serve up hot chocolates. Takeout orders can be placed online; there are typically indoor and outdoor dine-in areas." - Nadia Chaudhury
"This espresso-focused coffee bar is heaven for hardcore coffee nerds around town. The rotating selections of beans are highlighted by simple and well-executed preparation. All locations (the others on North Lamar and MLK) feature clean and welcoming designs." - Tom Thornton
"There are several locations of the coffee shop Houndstooth in Austin (and a few in Dallas). The one downtown is in the base of the Frost Bank Tower – it’s so tucked in you could easily miss it walking by. But people downtown know it’s there, and during peak hours it can get pretty busy and loud, so it’s not ideal for a long work session. They're also totally unafraid to blast old-school hip hop. There are pastries, lots of tea options, and Tacodeli tacos. Most importantly, you'll find that Houndstooth serves some of the best coffee you’ll find not just downtown, but in all of Austin. There's also wine and beer for when you need to chill out after drinking coffee all day." - Raphael Brion
