The Best Restaurants in Spokane, Washingston | Eater Seattle

"The big city brunch trend has still yet to rear it’s head in sleepy Spokane. Chef Alex Szambelan and his team at HOB are looking to change that with a menu that easily overshadows the barrage of greasy spoon competitors around the city. Marvel in matcha cream beignets and salmon mouse crepes or share a breakfast charcuterie and Grand Marnier–glazed cinnamon roll that is set alight at your table. If you love atmosphere, swing in on Sundays where the resident DJ takes brunch up a notch with some upbeat breaks." - Kris Kilduff

The coffee was excellent! The food tastes as good as it looks! Very unexpected. A+ for presentation. I got to meet the owner Jackson and hear a bit of his story. I am very satisfied and happy with this place. highly recommended if you’re in town!

Google
The whole place is a vibe. The inside was a little bit crowded and overstimulating to me so Gabby D. our waitress allowed us to move onto the patio. It made for a great experience. The weather was beautiful. The food was delicious. The crab cake Benedict is the best I’ve ever had. Our waitress Gaby was fantastic. I will definitely be eating here again!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ If you haven’t met Chad at House of Brunch, then you haven’t truly lived. This man is the brunch whisperer, the omelet overlord, the mimosa magician—and did I mention he’s also really cute? Honestly, the biggest challenge here isn’t deciding what to order, it’s maintaining eye contact while pretending you’re not swooning over the guy bringing you coffee. The menu? A brunch fantasy. Waffles so good they should come with a warning label, and eggs so fluffy I was tempted to check if they were filled with helium. Bonus points: they’ve got plenty of gluten-free options, so everyone can join in the brunch madness without feeling left out. And let’s not forget the cocktails. These aren’t your sad little screwdrivers or watery mimosas—these are brunch-level masterpieces. Each one looks like it belongs on a magazine cover and hits like a gentle reminder that life is, in fact, beautiful. Atmosphere? Picture your coolest aunt’s kitchen, but with better lighting and way more avocado toast. Pro tip: If Chad recommends something, just nod, smile, and say “yes, chef.” Don’t question it. This is how brunch legends are made. House of Brunch isn’t just a restaurant, it’s a lifestyle. A mimosa-soaked, Chad-powered (and yes, very cute) lifestyle.

I'm always reluctant to order crab cakes, but I did in this case. These were very well prepared and filled with lump crab backfin. I also enjoyed their ice tea, which was brewed from peach and ginger leaves.

Mike Douglas L.

Google
Popped into this brunch spot and overall had a good experience. I went with the classic avocado toast topped with a poached egg instead of pickled egg— fresh ingredients, perfectly runny yolk, and solid flavor all around. The presentation was nice and the atmosphere was relaxed, with friendly staff. That said, it felt a tad overpriced for something so simple as brunch. Still, if you're in the mood for a no-fuss brunch with quality ingredients, it's worth a visit — just maybe not every day.

Google
First time here and this will be our new favorite breakfast place. Atmosphere is great, it is loud. Food was 11/10 the price is worth it. We spelt the burrata salad super yummy. the chicken and waffles are amazing with new sauce flavors I’ve never had and a new spin to the dish.

Google
Recommend for brunch. We loved the coffee service experience. Drip cold brew is a huge win! We both enjoyed our meal. We split oysters to start. Our only feedback is that the lemon overpowered them so maybe take that off if you love a good oyster like we do. The mignonette was good! My husband got the chicken and waffles and i got the lobster benny. We would both say 7.5/10. Solid and good

Sierra S.

Google
I’ve been to House of Brunch a few times now, and while the food is always beautifully plated and the vibe is stylish, I have mixed feelings overall. As someone who considers themselves an adventurous eater, I was excited to try items like the salmon crepes and lobster Benedict, but both were just okay for me. The salmon crepes in particular weren’t something I’d order again. The chicken and waffles also seemed decent, but nothing I’d go out of my way for. That said, the lemon honey coffee is absolutely amazing, and honestly, it’s what keeps me coming back. It’s one of the best coffee drinks I’ve had anywhere. In general, the food tastes good, but the pricing feels a bit steep for what you get. I’d still recommend trying it if you’re curious, especially for the presentation and that lemon honey coffee, just go in knowing you’re paying more for the experience and ambiance than standout flavors.

Yelp
This was our first time dining at this location while passing through Spokane, and we were pleasantly greeted by our server, Liz, who was attentive and friendly throughout our visit. I ordered the Bee's elbow coffee, which came with a complimentary donut hole. I'm quite particular about my coffee, and while this one was decent, I prefer the coffee I make at home with my espresso machine. It tasted as though the creamer outweighed the coffee itself. That said, the touch of lemon zest added a bright, refreshing note to the flavor. My husband ordered the chicken and waffles, which were moist, flavorful, and well-prepared. I went with the fit bowl, which was tasty overall. They were generous with the avocado, though it felt like I received an entire salad tub's worth of arugula. At $20, that's actually a fair portion for the price. One thing to note, this location applies a 3% surcharge for credit card payments, so plan accordingly. Overall, I'd happily return for a lite lunch, but I'd skip the coffee next time.

Yelp
We were in Spokane for a wedding, staying at the nearby Davenport Tower. We found House of Brunch on Yelp and a scan of the great reviews and interesting menu led us to make the short walk over to its river front location. Since we were out late we needed to start with coffee and their drip and Americano offerings were better than what you could get at the green mermaid. A nice touch was that the caffeine was served with a house made mini doughnut. The servers ensured that refills were prompt. My wife ordered the Green Juice which is an interesting blend of celery, apple, spinach, cuke, lemon, and ginger; she recommends it highly. The menu is varied and compelling with curated categories: Share, Chill, Sweet, Savory, and Classic. It was a tough call since everything looked remarkable but we decided on the Crab Cake Bennies and the Waffles and Chicken. Both were superb: finely crafted, well plated, and generous in flavor and serving. Because the experience was so great, we chose to have another breakfast here the following day with the personal compact that we would not get the same dishes. For Round Two we had the Lox Toast and Tostada al Pastor with a side of their thick cut bacon. Everything about the experience was exceptional: food, drink, service, and atmosphere. The owner is also the Maître D' and he runs an efficient ship. We recommend the House of Brunch!

Yelp
Excellent serviceand great food. Found restaurant on a staycation so bonus! Husband had the chicken and waffles. He loved it.
google avatar

Gentry N.

Yelp
The "waffle and chicken" is literally perfect. The crepes were very good. The service was friendly, although not attentive. The only downside is the price you pay for such small portions! After brunch, we both remarked that we were still hungry. For $20, I expect to be full!
google avatar

Yelp
Highly recommend the House of Brunch if you ever find yourself in downtown Spokane looking for a place to have breakfast/brunch. The staff were engaged, very friendly & attentive. The restaurant was very attractive with modern decor and cool lighting. The menu had both classic & inventive breakfast options to choose from and the drink choices were plentiful, too.

Yelp
Great service, bright dining room, great tasting food and not overly expensive. Will definitely return and recommend it to others.

Yelp
My brother took us here for brunch. I love a cute brunch spot! Upon entering i immediately saw the open kitchen. The space is open, modern, and welcoming. We were immediately seated and everyone was super nice. Our waitress was great, attentive and so helpful with the menu. We ordered drinks, and to be honest I don't remember the names. I got some protein drink which was fantastic, my brother and his gf got coffee, and my sis got some green juice. App - we got the beignet with a caramel syrup. This was great. Entree - chicken and waffles, the omelette with steak and mushrooms, and the avocado toast. All were cooked well and the flavors were flavor bombs to the palate. Loved everything! I would definitely recommend this place to visitors!
google avatar

Yelp
The environment was quite welcoming, clean, modern and bright. Loved it. Various seating including bar, window nooks, table, etc. Service was great! The host ,Brad?, was nice and kind when we needed to change our reservation time. Our waitress Becky was Wonderful! So attentive and knowledgeable. Lastly, the lobster Benedict was greats. Lobster was good but the Benedict was on yummy biscuits with a perfectly poached eggs. chicken waffles- the chicken was chicken perfection.. Crispy and moist. The delicate touch of whip cream and a little piece of candied orange made it perfect. Think it would be even better if the waffle was a little thicker. Was going to rate 4 stars but Can't really think of anything that was lacking. :). So 5 stars :). Would def come back.
google avatar

Mike G.

Yelp
Food was decent. Smaller portions, limited menu items. On the pricier side. Service was slow, and the brunch Rush was over. Won't return. And a visa surcharge ? Cmon man.
google avatar

Tori Z.

Yelp
Food was great! My husband loved the chicken and waffles and I quite enjoyed the avocado toast. Where they could improve are their drinks - their coffee and tea lattes are made way too hot and the espresso shots are over-extracted and bitter. Service is pretty good for how big/busy it is and the vibe is a little surprising for Spokane - seems like a California or Las Vegas style brunch party club.

Yelp
House of Brunch is my new happy place. The French omelette? Fluffy enough, yes. The vegan smoothie? So good it made me question my loyalty to bacon. Spokane downtown, you've officially leveled up brunch because of this place.
google avatar

Rabah D.

Yelp
I had before egg Benedict with short ribs it was the best. Service was great, ambiance was amazing.
google avatar

Joe F.

Yelp
Tried this place a few weeks back. Food is great as is the service. We all had the chicken and waffles which were delicious. Our server was wonderful and she gave us some great tips on where to eat and what to do in Spokane. The restaurant itself was open and airy and very inviting. If you're in the downtown area definitely try it for brunch. It's a little pricey, so be prepared.
google avatar

Kaela R.

Yelp
I really enjoyed house of brunch. First thing we've eaten since visiting Spokane and it hit the spot. The service was kind of slow but the food made up for it. It's a very cute place
google avatar

Christine M.

Yelp
clean and upbeat The House of Brunch didn't let us down! This spot is truly a gem. The ambiance is young and upbeat, with a lively crowd that adds to the overall experience. The service was great--attentive and friendly. We were especially impressed with The Forge coffee and matcha, both of which were amazing. If you're looking for a vibrant place to start your day, this is it!
google avatar

Poorva J.

Yelp
If you're seeking a bougie brunch experience, this place delivers on ambiance and beverages rather than food! The coffee and cocktails steal the show here , outshining the food offerings which, while decent, don't exactly scream "memorable." What really makes this place shine is the staff--super attentive and timely, making sure your every wish is granted with a smile. And get this: they even shared a recipe with us, adding a personal touch to the experience!

Yelp
Where do I start with House of Brunch- WOW!! I met a colleague for breakfast, she recommended House of Brunch. Located on a corner in downtown Spokane, House of Brunch is a modern eatery with adequate seating. I was greeted and sat immediately upon walking in. HOB has a fantastic selection of coffees and teas- unique and creative. I tried a plain old cappuccino- my go-to but it came with a cute little piece of gingerbread. Every item on the menu sounds delicious- again, all such creative dishes. I ordered the omelet with the flat iron steak- best breakfast I've had in a long time! The French omelet was light and fluffy and the steak was cooked perfectly. My colleague ordered the Lox Avocado Toast. Can't wait to come back and try every entree! Highly recommend! 5 stars!
google avatar

Donald S.

Yelp
I don't give very many 5 star reviews but everything from the atmosphere to the food is excellent! They provide unique combinations that pair so well you wouldn't think they go together. This is my 2nd time back and I was glad to share it with my family this time around. For the foodies, this is the spot to go for Brunch!
google avatar

Sophia T.

Yelp
Service was quick. Very friendly staff. Place was bright and welcoming. Exactly what you want out of a brunch house. Garden Benedict was good. The shaved Brussels sprouts were crispy. The biscuit was buttery. The eggs were cooked perfectly. Nothing to complain about. The mushroom tartines on the other hand. They deep fry the sourdough and don't sit it on a rack to let the grease drip off. So every bite had oil gushing into my mouth. I had to spit it out. The mushroom and Fresno peppers were great. I wish they would have just toasted the bread. Probably would not come back. But it was nice to try!
google avatar

Yelp
*5 stars - Brunch Goals, *Delivered!* Chicken was crispy, waffles were banana bread magic, and that bacon jam with orange zest? Chef's kiss. Didn't think delivery could taste this fresh--House of Brunch, you made this tired mom do a happy dance. Thank you!*
google avatar

Leah K.

Yelp
Y'all this is the classiest hangover meal I have ever had. That fresh squeezed orange juice was so absolutely perfect and revived me back to life. The Chicken and Waffles were absolutely perfect - no notes. The French Omelette was cooked perfectly and the steak was UNREAL. I will be coming back for my birthday brunch because it is definitely the best place in town for a nice brunch. Service was amazing and our server was so attentive! One of the managers or owners even came over to see how everything was tasting. Forget greasy hangover food, this restaurant is exactly what you need after a long weekend. Vibe inside the restaurant is so fun too, theres some TVs so you can watch football as well. 10/10 love this spot and I can't wait to try everything on the menu.
google avatar

Cliff A.

Yelp
We wife had the Jerry breakfast ($18), fried eggs, sourdough toast, bacon and potato latkes with coffee ($4). The bacon with a really thick cut, more like a slice of ham. The latkes were dry and tasteless. I had the burger ($20) that came with fries and a fried egg. I asked for a gluten free bun, but it came with gluten free toasted bread ($0). There was also a 3% charge for using a credit card ( don't really mind, but I wasn't offered a chance to pay cash.). The service was very good, but we wouldn't go back.
google avatar

Margaret S.

Yelp
Insane food. Amazing. Service was great. The seats are tight to next guests but felt big city that way lol
google avatar

Molly G.

Yelp
If you are in downtown Spokane and you need to eat, absolutely go here for brunch. I was blown away with how delicious their food and drinks were! Would move here for this restaurant!
google avatar

Bailey H.

Yelp
We were seated promptly with a window view. Our waitress was kind and would make small talk. For starters we had the flambé cinnamon roll. The theater of the flambé is a fun experience but the taste of the cinnamon roll was not favorable. In my opinion, there was too much alcohol used that lined the bottom of the pan. With each bite the alcohol was very strong and I could not taste the cinnamon roll. It tasted more like a piece of bread with alcohol on it. I was disappointed with the Caiden's Creation waffles. It was plain and was not bursting with flavor. I expected to taste more pumpkin or that the apples would have a stronger apple flavor. My husband had the short rib Benedict and luckily that plate was decent. The positives is that the restaurant was clean, the staff was friendly, they helped us celebrate our special occasion, and the Benedict dish was flavorful.
google avatar

Ike S.

Yelp
A hip atmosphere with great cocktails and food! Wish we had come here before our last day in town. Chad was our server and he was really chill. He had great recommendations and our choices did not disappoint. Everything was great so I won't go into each item. Let's just say that ccould become regulars if we lived here!

Lynnette S.

Yelp
Celebrating a friend's birthday. She wanted to go for brunch somewhere. We decided on House of Brunch after we heard about the brunch charcuterie plate! Our whole experience exceeded expectations. Food excellent and plated beautifully, our server was very attentive and sweet and the whole vibe of this place was amazing. Our server even brought her a large cinnamon roll with a huge flaming candle! Everything was wonderful! Can't wait to go back.
google avatar

Grand P.

Yelp
Nice service but a bit slow. Burgers were average. Bun was not soft but kudos for Gruyère and fried egg. Added a 3% credit card surcharge which is lame in the first place and more so for not advising me in advance. I could have paid cash. We consumers should resist these nickel and dime fees we are seeing more and more of. They add up to dollars before long.
google avatar

David G.

Yelp
Food was great, but more vegan options please! Avocado toast was a hit, will try vegan version next time. My eggless Fit Bowl was good but needed more sauce. Avocado slices were yummy!
google avatar

Matt V.

Yelp
Our first visit to the House of Brunch and it was not a disappointment! Great place, friendly staff, and superb service. We didn't have a reservation but they were able to accommodate us right away, giving us a couple of seating options. I do recommend getting reservations though as the restaurant filled up very soon after we arrived. Very cool location with modern furnishings. The food was excellent! Ordered the HOB Burger and the Lox Avocado Toast. Tasty and the aromas quite tantalizing. Very enjoyable! Highly recommend taking the time to eat at the House of Brunch! It was worth it for us!
google avatar

Chester E.

Yelp
Year 2 of post bloomsday brunch at HOB, and let me tell you, HOB did not disappoint. Server Brad is fire. I hope he's gay! But we accept all sexualities here. The infinity mimosa is a great deal if you are a heavy drinker. Love the donut with the coffee. So cute and yummy, a very nice special touch. One of our party wants to note that they should do multiple pieces of French toast instead of just one piece. We got the flambé, some oysters, breakfast burrito, HOB burger (love the egg on it), the mushroom omelette, and the jerry breakfast. Very good! Keep winning HOB! -Chester Eats

Michele C.

Yelp
Great space, efficiently run, pleasant & considerate service. We enjoyed our food immensely.

Yelp
Some of the best hospitality that I have ever had! Very friendly and accommodating staff. Today was my second time coming here. First thing I want to mention is their music selection. Not your average boring elevator music that most places play, it has a very upbeat liveliness that matches the ambiance and makes it feel like you've gone clubbing. I also love the chic, modern decor because it Makes for beautiful group pics! (I came in with friends on my birthday the first visit) This visit, I tried the French omelette with Gruyère cheese, steak, and sautéed mushrooms. Their omelette was the most perfect omelette that I have ever had.very soft and delicate In texture and the flavors on the steak & mushrooms were mouthwatering. The crème fresh was the perfect pairing for this dish! My boyfriend had the chicken & waffles. The chicken was crisp and tender and the bacon jam and maple whip topping made it even better than what I could have imagined and really tied the dish together with its sweet and savory combination. The proportions are fairly large and the food is instagram worthy. Thank you for bringing our community such a fun and welcoming place to be! I will be back to try every drink on this beautifully crafted cocktail list
google avatar

Erica M.

Yelp
Visiting from California and this is definitely a restaurant to go and eat. The ambiance is beautiful, it's super clean, the service is wonderful! The best part, food is AMAZING, every single bite was delicious. Definitely going back! During this busy volleyball weekend, the owner, Jackson was so accommodating and squeezed us in. Much appreciated.
google avatar

Taylor P.

Yelp
Yummy! This place has an upscale vibe and super trendy delicious menu! Service was really great. They have a cocktail bar and a separate coffee bar for all your beverage needs. I was seated close to the bar, so I was observó by the bartender making drinks, and it was pure art. We didn't drink this morning, so unfortunately, I didn't get to try... but we did get espresso items from the coffee bar. My latte was SO good. I also got the fit bowl and hubby got the French omelette with the hanger steak. The food was impecable! I even ordered a side of sourdough bread and WOW so good. Highly recommend if you're looking for a great brunch spot downtown Spokane.

Steve M.

Yelp
Expensive and below average food. Staff was friendly but had to ask for a coffee refill when the place was nearly empty. Ordered a simple breakfast of sunny side up eggs which were overcooked and not running, three sausage links that seemed like they were from a frozen package, three potato vodkas that were dry and tasteless, sourdough bread which actually had no flavor accompanied by very ordinary and tasteless Jam. Additionally the coffee was weak by any standard especially for Washington state. Any Roadside Diner would have made a better breakfast for 2/3 the price or less. The nice thing is it has outdoor seating and it's a pleasant atmosphere but that's about it.
google avatar

Linda B.

Yelp
Excellent meal! Super friendly & helpful wait staff. Lovely atmosphere. Will def be back! Fair warning - not cheap. And I would never take my grandkids here.
google avatar

Suzanne A.

Yelp
Second time we've been here. Both times were great. Got in without a wait or made reservation as we drove there. Food is fresh, seasonal, delicious. Cute and cozy inside, especially if you can get a booth. Service has been consistent - welcoming, perfectly attentive.
google avatar

Jonelle R.

Yelp
Wow! Food, Service, Ambiance... This place checks all the boxes! We were greeted and seated right away which I'm sure doesn't happen everyday cause this place has to stay pretty busy. Our server was such a delight! She was friendly & very helpful when we asked about the menu. My husband opted for a Benedict (I think it was a crab) and I ordered the chicken & waffles with huckleberry sauce. He must've loved his Benedict cause it was gone in a second! I enjoyed my chicken & waffles. The flavors of the chicken paired with huckleberry & lemon was a whole party! We also orders lattes ... probably the best coffee I've had in Spokane. I thoroughly enjoyed every sip. The place itself is super cozy and inviting. There's plants all around, & assorted seating styles. It was just good vibes all around.

Steve 8.

Yelp
I was in Spokane earlier in the summer and discovered this restaurant and in particular a dish called Caiden's Creation. That was the dish I wanted as my last meal on this plane. I have heard that they've substituted a similar dish with peaches, which while I have not tried, saddens me to hear that my last meal I had chosen (from whatever cause that might be) is not currently available even if I ordered overnight delivery to wherever by FedEx. The dish had sweet cream in between waffles with some fruit and what pushed it over to a whole other level (aside from my sparing use of syrup) was the caramelized banana on top adding a taste of a creme brulee. Damn the carbs full speed ahead I said. Alas it is no more...But, if the rest of the creations at this restaurant are as good, which they likely are, then upon my return to Spokane (in this or the next life time) I will certainly have brunch at the House of Brunch!
google avatar

Yelp
Really nifty brunch spot nestled in an unsuspecting spot. Came here for brunch with the husband and loved the variety, the food, and the drinks. Started with some cocktails, got the H.O.B and the gangsta. Both tasted pleasant and refreshing. For brunch, we both got the French omelets, him with just steak me with steak and mushrooms. That french omelets was the best I have ever had. The steak was cooked well, and the mushroom were really flavorful. We also got some pour over coffees at the end. Single origin. Really smooth, not too acidic. Perfectly pleasant. Seating was plentiful, lots of room and I didn't feel cramped. Beautiful window looking into downtown. Service was really on top of it too. Everybody was friendly and quick. I completely recommend this place for a nice meal!
google avatar

Dave G.

Yelp
My wife and I were in town for a few days to check out Spokane as a retirement spot. We saw this highly rated breakfast/brunch spot and were not disappointed. The food was inventive and highly tasty. The flambe cinnamon rolls, French toast, and omelet with mushrooms were to die for. In addition, the service was very good. It's a nice place in a convenient location downtown. I do not give out 5s often, but this place deserves it. When I come to town again, we will definitely eat here. I hear they change their menu periodically so I'm looking forward to what they have the next time!

Errin F.

Yelp
Food was fantastic! Very unique menu with lots of fresh food ideas. The HOB burger was awesome and the quinoa burrito....so delicious! Our server, Larissa was super friendly and on top of it! She was great! Great place with lots of energy, over all great experience!

Teresa R.

Yelp
Sunday brunch with my DIL. Food and drink was delicious. My daughter in law had the salmon avocado toast and loved it. It's a very busy place on the weekends so it's best to make a reservation. The service was a little slow, but then again they were super busy.
google avatar

Yelp
I came to Spokane on a business trip and chose this place for breakfast. Location was W Riverside in DT Spokane. I came here after 9 am and there was one couple of customer sitting by the window. I sat at a table overlooking the cherry blossom trees inside the restaurant. A very nice lady came to take my order. I wanted to eat a little sweet and small meal. I ordered the Babble (sweet potato waffle, chai honey, local honeycomb, whipped goat cheese, shaved lemon, candied walnut) and drink for Yard Sale (espresso, white chocolate, peppermint, almond milk) . It was too sweet for me, so I thought I'd order Chafe's Tasting next time or Vegan smoothie or Green juice. I plan on stopping by here when I come to Spokane again. If you can't decide on the menu, why not try Chef's Tasting!
google avatar

Heather K.

Yelp
Beautiful restaurant. The staff is kind and fast. There is not much on the menu. Lots of drink options at the bar but the food was a little underwhelming. We got the avocado toast and it was okay. It's a great restaurant but I don't think the menu was a perfect match for our palate.
google avatar

Bryan F.

Yelp
We went at 11am on a Monday! At first they were full but seated soon after. The server was excellent and was really prompt and took good care of us. The food was really really tasty! Very filling and unique spin on chicken and waffles. Had a light airy taste and unique sauce. The chicken felt light, not the typical heavy feeling. I do think $20 flat for it was a bit overpriced ... maybe $16-$17 is better. The ambiance is really nice and seems like a great place to catch up with friends for brunch or go on a date. Definitely will return!

Mecca F.

Yelp
In our way heading out of Spokane he decided to have late breakfast/bunch. The atmosphere was welcoming giving options to sit inside or out. We had our luggage so they placed us in a comfortable area with a place for our items. Our hostess was great providing insight on the items in the menu. My husband with with chicken and waffles. He loved that the waffle was fluffy and good without syrup. I had the vegan poke bowl. Overall it was delicious! I would love to try more items should I return to the area.
