The Best African Restaurants in Seattle | Eater Seattle

"House of Naku is a takeout operation in a shared commissary kitchen in West Seattle. Pounded yam fufu, whole grilled fish, palasas (cassava leaf soup), and fried plantains are among the West African delicacies on the menu. Quench your thirst with the baobab smoothie or hibiscus drink, a health-conscious nod to local plants of the region." - Alicia Erickson

I love the food at House of Naku so much that I've tried everything on the menu and everything was a hit not a single miss on flavor or quality of food. Some of my go to dishes are the okra soup with fufu chicken yassa and jollof rice with lamb.

The egusi is amazing. Lots of flavor and the meat was super tender! Fufu is good (little on the soft side). Fried fish is also good!! Overall portion sizes are very nice!

Absolutely delicious. Had the super kanja soup along with fufu and a side of plantains. Super tasty, incredibly filling, and so happy that I finally got to try fufu. Friends had jollof rice and loved it, and the ginger drink has an incredible kick. Highly recommend.

I absolutely loved the grilled lamb here. It's seasoned and cooked to perfection

The food here is SO delicious. I was craving West African food and knew I needed some fufu and egusi, and decided to also give the side of jollof rice and meat pies a try (total for all items was $43) The portions are generous and everything is so well made and seasoned to perfection. This was enough food to last me 2.5 days. I’ve tried other places that sell fufu and egusi and I have to say this place was the best. I ordered online and it took me about 16 minutes to get there. As soon as I got there the food was ready for pick up immediately. I will say that the restaurant was confusing to find (it’s in a building with a bunch of other restaurants and you need to ring the bell on the wall for the associated restaurant) and that you should definitely bring cash tip. I didn’t realize and thought I might have to sign a receipt for tip, so I leave this review as my exchange! I would absolutely recommend the food here, it hit the spot!

The food is delicious; I got the jollof rice, akara fritters, and fish, which hit the spot on a cold day. I'm looking forward to trying some of their other items as well! It's tucked-away, but feels kinda cool since it's an unusual setting. Oh, and the service was great: timely, and friendly:D

I ordered through Doordash and everything was delicious. I got a variety because I wanted to try different things. I loved everything. I ordered the super kanja (okra soup) with plantain fufu, beef meatpies, fried plantains, African dinner with chicken, jollof rice, Afro stewed vegetables and tomato cucumber salad. The food was comforting and satisfying. I will order again and recommend to everyone.

Yelp
Meat pockets! The hand pies are the business. The pastry is perfect and doesn't taste pre-batched frozen. The flavors are incredible. Admittedly i haven't had a lot of African food. Most of my experience has been east African. This west African spot is the business! I could shove their meat pies in my face all day

Yelp
Truly amazing food! The jolof rice is so good, portions are generous - we loved everything. Good solid healthy homemade food with plenty of gluten free and vegetarian options.
