I was absolutely thrilled when I received an invitation to my co-worker's birthday party at this amazing place! Let me tell you, the moment I walked in, was greeted by the super friendly bartender, Benjamin. He was so polite and even offered me a drink menu right away. But, being the patient person that I am, I decided to wait for the rest of my dinner party before ordering. Guess what? As I was waiting, I casually asked Benjamin if they had a table reserved for our party. And you won't believe it, the owner was sitting right there and had just prepared a room for a party of 12! I couldn't help but walk over to the owner, who was just as polite, nice, and as Benjamin. He personally showed to the room where our party would be held. And to my surprise, he had prepared the most stunning charcuterie board that was simply out of this world! I struck up a conversation with the owner and made sure to let him know how delighted I was with the staff and that incredible charcuterie board. Seriously, it was a masterpiece! But that's not all, my friend. I also had the chance to chat with some of the other patrons, and they were raving about the place. They said it felt like "Cheers" in there, where everyone knows your name. How cool is that? Oh, and let me tell you, they even had gluten-free options on the menu! As someone who follows a gluten-free diet, that made me incredibly happy. And the drinks? Oh boy, they were absolutely delicious! I had such an amazing time at this place, and you can bet your bottom dollar that I'll be coming back for more. It's just that good!

Wonderful patio and ambiance. Great owner. Sometimes slow staff but still the food and comfort is worth it.

Nice place. My wife raved about the quesadilla, stripped down. I sampled it and it was quite tasty. Sliders were okay. They were in the verge of over cooked. I am on the hunt for the best tiramisu and this one disappointed. The ladyfingers did not appear to be soaked in anything, so ended up being dry.

Great classy local place to take the wife for a fun night out! The menu is a bit limited but tasty and the Smore-tini is an interesting offering. Adding to the fun, the live entertainment on weekends is lively and worth checking out (when the weather is nice you can enjoy the outdoor seating on the intimate, semi-private patio). This was our first visit but we are planning to make House of Oliver a regular hang out spot of ours.

Wanted to try this wine bar and enjoy live music but unfortunately, there was a private function at the patio. So, we were seated inside and our server, Ceasar was very warm and kind. He informed us with their wine selections and recommended based on our liking. We got the Pinot Noir (La Cream & Meiomi) partnered with giant meatballs & the meat & cheese combo board. Food is ok, nothing extraordinary but service was great!

As a Matchmaker, I recently attended a singles event at House of Oliver in Roseville to check out the singles scene, and I was thoroughly impressed. The atmosphere was lovely, creating the perfect setting for mingling and meeting new people. The staff was exceptionally nice and made me feel very welcome. I enjoyed my drink and look forward to trying the food on my next visit. If you're single and looking for a great place to meet other singles, I highly recommend attending an event at House of Oliver. There's a nice group of people, and the overall experience is delightful.

I had a chicken, pepper jack cheese, quesadilla off of the Happy Hour menu. Very yummy! I didn't get any pictures of the food but I did take pictures of our drinks. Super festive and delicious! The Holiday Old fashioned came with an ornament on top of the glass filled with the drink that you poured over the big square ice cube. I love it! The blue drink is like a Blue Hawaiian. It tastes mostly of pineapple and has a sugar rim. Yum! We sat outside. The fire was perfect. Beautiful ambiance. Also, going on a weekday, Tuesday, it wasn't super crowded.

Went here for a girls night. We had a reservation for later but they took us early, yay. Neither of us were drinking but were interested in the tasty food options. We of course were stoked about happy hour. The cheese plate was delicious, the candied nuts stole the show. My salad was huge and mac n cheese just right! My friend enjoyed her soup and grilled cheese. We tried to save room for dessert but alas had no room. Negatives were the music battling on the inside vs the outside. The bathroom smelled like strong cleaning products (very clean though) Single dudes on the prowl. Last negative was parking. So many sharks circling for their chipotle pick ups and limited parking. Our waitress was a doll, A one server. Overall tasty food, some dishes a tad pricey. Would go back and recommend. Get a reservation!

Yelp
Great food - and great music! We ordered / shared the berry salad, meatballs, and pretzel bites. Everything was delicious and the service was great too.

April S.

Yelp
Service on the patio was slow and forgetful. Had to ask for everything. Charcuterie board was pretty good. Warm spinach dip appetizer was average. Country music on the patio. Ordered the Tri tip dinner for two, and the portions were correct, the meat slices were good (not amazing) and I enjoyed the steamed mixed vegetables. However the bowl of mashed potatoes they served were awful. Tasted purely of flakes rehydrated with water. No seasoning, no butter, no cream, no attempts to hide the instant potato flakes. Unacceptable for a $50 plate. And by the time the veges and instant mashed potatoes got to the table 5-10 minutes later (outside) our steak slices were cold. Wished they would have been served at the same time!

Yelp
Tried out the new spot in the fountains during happy hour and was pleasantly surprised by the service and happy hour selections. The space itself was super cozy and a great spot for a break in shopping before dinner. Found a new "let's go grab a glass of wine" spot for sure!

Dev M.

Yelp
We love coming here for the ambiance and amazing live music! Super cozy and relaxing atmosphere. We love the wine selections and always have to get the artichoke dip to complement our drinks. Really great service and nice staff. Overall really enjoy coming to House of Oliver

Yelp
Over priced and underwhelming. I fully expected this to be a spectacular experience, especially because eons ago I had been to their previous location. We decided to drop in for dinner, and as I write this, I'm regretting not leaving. The restaurant is really more of a local "cheers" experience. People drop in mostly to drink rather than dine. I really think they should adjust the menu accordingly. Seating is absolutely ridiculous. Chairs and tables are just thrown together around the floor, and it makes it uncomfortable to try to figure out where to sit. That's right, self setting. Less of a big deal, but it's not easy to navigate through. We opted for an appetizer, which is referred to as a shared plate on the menu. The appetizer priced at around $20 is difficult to understand why it's a shareable. If it's supposed to be shared then they should offer six pieces of bacon wrapped shrimp which is what we ordered, instead of five. The shrimp was overcooked, and the bacon was flavorless and slightly undercooked. It was served with a side of sauce that for the life of me I can't figure out how it pairs with shrimp and bacon. We both opted for the steak, medallions, and prior to ordering them, the waitress said that they were huge pieces of steak. They were far from huge and they were far from tasty. They were supposed to be served with a side of cauliflower mash, which was more like a purée. I wasn't excited about having my meat sitting on top of that . We both ordered our steak, medium rare, and the medallions not only were flavorless, but over cooked as well. I don't see the point of the cheese crisps that are placed in between a couple of the medallions. It just doesn't work flavor wise. The cauliflower mash was soupy, and unless I was trying to scoop it onto my meat, there was no way to enjoy it. It literally was a puddle. We were served fairly quickly, but never checked on so that our food could have been potentially adjusted. They just added to the overall experience. $100 for an appetizer and two entrées and no drinks only works if the food is worth it. This my friends, is not.

Yelp
I've been here twice and customer service is always so good! I also love the ambiance! Although it's always so cold haha I ordered: -shrimp cocktail - tasted good but not as amazing as i expected -charcuterie board - it came with jelly, nuts, cured meat, dried cranberries, toasted brie, crostini! it was really good! -salmon with asparagus - pretty good, and the asparagus was perfectly cooked too! -jalapeno taijin margarita - it wasn't too flavorful, tasted kind of bland. i wish they put more taijin or something.

Yelp
We showed up Tuesday night with our hearts set on their tri tip dinner special. It's all over their website, you even get a pop up on Tuesdays on their website. We sat down and asked the server for two dinner specials and he said they no longer offer it... we showed him the website and he said he can't do anything about it, they cancelled that special a few months ago... please update the website to reflect current offerings. There was not a single person dinning in the restaurant aunfortunately they lost our business as they did not offer anything in replacement.

Yelp
We are visiting the area and was looking for a place to enjoy some great non country live music and happened up the HOO. We had a blast listening to the band Wind Storm Band, dancing and chatting others. Great Night!!!

Alina J.

Yelp
Came here with my husband for an early mother's days celebration. We came at a good time. There was no crowd. The appetizers were great. My husband ordered the meat overs flat bread. I had the salmon bruschetta and the jalapeño poppers. My first glass was the house Pinot noir which was nice. My second glass was the La crema which I highly recommend. We sat outside on the patio. Very chill scenery. I would come back here for another happy hour.

Danielle S.

Yelp
Allie has been nothing but amazing tonight. She went over and beyond checking on us, bringing me what we need and even boxed our food for us. Great service, of course amazing food! Ambiance was lovely and good music. Thank you house of Oliver you did not disappoint.

Blanche M.

Yelp
We came for a birthday party last week and was seated at the outdoor patio section. It was nice because it was just us in their outdoor tent. With us being outside, we did feel like we were not tend to. Finding out there was only one bartender and one serve. We finally decided to order inside and their staff was very apologetic. The prices of their drinks were normal compared to everywhere else. We all ordered their wine/wine flights and all weren't disappointed. We did order some food to share, and it seemed like a lot of people still had a lot to take home. Definitely a nice spot to hang out.

S C.

Yelp
We were a group of six. Ordered a lot of food and a lot of drinks, including two bottles of wine. Split the check three ways and when we got home realized our server had not told us there was an 18% service charge applied to the check. And we also tipped him very generously. Unacceptable. He should have told us upon presenting the check that an 18% service charge had already been included, and then we could've decided if we wanted to offer him an additional gratuity. We will not go here again and we will tell everyone we know what happened. Very sneaky and not good business practice.

Nadia M.

Yelp
We went here and had the best time with the best waiter. Dakota took really good care of us. He was so sweet! My aunts had a ball. The ambiance is a whole vibe. The owner Matt came in while we were there and he is always so nice. Great place to have a girls night or a date

Kristina E.

Yelp
Great service!Good food. Lovely atmosphere & beautiful, talented live music!! We had the french dip & short rib. Our waiter was so professional & kind!

Jessica S.

Yelp
Holy cow!!! This place is fantastic! Immediately when my friend and I walked up to the hostess station she offered us to sit inside when our reservations were for outside. It was incredibly hot yesterday so we really appreciated the flexibility with seating and we could still hear the live music that was playing which was really nice. As far as the interior of the restaurant, it is very nice and there is lots of wine decor and comfortable seating. Overall it is just a very welcoming space and I felt comfortable. Ryan (I believe is how he spells it) was our waiter, and he was a delight! He was very attentive to us and even told us to yell at him if we need him which I only had to do once because he looked like he might've been the only server for the tables inside at the time so he was pretty busy running around. But regardless of him being busy, he was very good at checking in with us and he even gave us recommendations when my friend and I were stumped on what else to get. For the food, we HAD to try the salmon bruschetta. And OH MY GOODNESS, it was fantastic and everything I've ever dreamed of. It's very lemony which I think always pairs beautiful with salmon and the salmon itself was very delicious, really generous portions as well. Next we tried the stuffed mushrooms, which were also out of this world!! The photos don't really do it justice but it is very flavorful, the chorizo was a fantastic choice in combination with the cheese and the mushrooms. We also had the spinach artichoke dip which is another appetizer that I wouldn't skip on. It's probably the best I've had at a restaurant before. We also had the margherita flatbread, and that balsamic drizzle is just heavenly. You really can't go wrong with a classic like that. My friend and I also both ordered the red wine flights and I've gotta say the trio was delicious. I don't remember what they were and Ryan tried to tell us what they were but I think we are more tasters than wine connoisseurs. Overall, this place is fantastic and I really enjoyed the ambiance here. Food: 12/10 Ambiance: 12/10 Service: 12/10 Price: 9/10

Ashlee A.

Yelp
Fun! Great wine and ambiance, we would lean more towards hanging out at the bar and having apps than a sit down meal.

Brittney B.

Yelp
Allie was just fabulous. It was my second time here and the food and drinks were great last time but this time, blew it out of the water. Allie took great care of us, informed of all the specials and helped us pick amazing dinner choices. Great music and vibe inside too. Can't wait to return, thank you!

Micki M.

Yelp
I love a good Happy Hour and HoO was a great find! We came here after school and they had just started HH. We decided to sit outside in their patio. We ordered almost everything on their HH menu and everything was delicious. What I personally love about their HH menu was that not everything was "FRIED." We ordered: *Shrimp cocktail *Margherita pizza *Charcuterie *Stuffed mushroom *Asian meatballs Along with the tasty bites, the ambience and service was great. I'm happy to include HoO a part of my list of great Happy Hours. **This review is long overdue. I had technical difficulties with the Yelp business page because they had an influx of activity. I'm glad that things have settled down and I'm finally able to post my review.

Elena K.

Yelp
Had an amazing time. People are very friendly and warm welcoming. Live music my favorite part and of course my date))

Nicki A.

Yelp
Video does not do the food justice! absolutely delicious! Tri tip dinner and a house bottle of wine for 2 for $45 cant beat that! Other than the amazing food and wine Ryan D. was an amazing server very friendly and attentive 10/10 would come back again!!

Michelle L.

Yelp
Cozy, intimate place with a really cool vibe. Food was delicious, had the special butternut squash soup with grilled cheese and salad with apples and candied nuts, everything delicious! Their drinks are on point. Great service by Allie, very attentive and friendly! The owner was welcoming as well. Fun place to hang on this Friday night!

Kathleen W.

Yelp
Not at all what I was expecting this restaurant to be. I thought it was an upscale steakhouse. It's basically a pub with overly priced food. I didn't try the food. They do have Happy Hour on Saturday's, so I got a lemon drop for $8. Nothing special - the lemon drop and the establishment. Not many people here, but those who are here seem to be regulars. My suggestion, if you're looking for an overpriced neighborhood bar, come on down. They're playing old rock, which I think is cool. Maybe I'll come back one day and try a happy hour hors d'oeuvre. Today, I want someplace a little quieter with a large hamburger menu. I just got my tab. There's a "service fee." That's malarkey. I won't be back!

Kristen G.

Yelp
House of Oliver is consistently delicious and has great vibes. Cesar was awesome on our last visit. Highly recommend the short rib, the shrimp Caesar salad, and the library old fashioned. This is a date night go-to place for us when we get to leave our two little kids behind. Good drinks, satisfying food, live music, and friendly service. Not stuffy. Super chill. Will always come back.

Grace F.

Yelp
Service & food is not good. It's really gone down hill for when it opened up few years ago back.

Chloe B.

Yelp
The food was marginal, the prices quite high but the service was great. I love the location but It is definitely overpriced. The outside patio is great and they have a band which is fun when you hit the right night.

Cynthia R.

Yelp
I just love this spot so much! This is my second time visiting for my fiancé and I'd anniversary. This was the spot of our first date and we wanted to recreate that date. I just want this past Saturday and it's still so amazing! We were able to make a reservation and get seated outside no problem. They have heaters for when it gets cold and a live band! I love their wine and food! I recommend Dragon's Tooth and the Charcuterie board! You can't go wrong! I'll always come back

Stacey D.

Yelp
Wine was terrible, first time I haven't finished wine anywhere. Ordered house Cab. Server was terrible. Asked about deserts and she said she has never tried any of them. Asked what the monkey bread was and server said gad no idea. We went with cheesecake and the store bought previously frozen cheesecake was worst ever. Dry and crumbly and weird. No napkins and had to grab them from bar. Server never came back with check. Place was dead. 2 table tops and 2 couples at bar. Will NOT be back. Have several friends who know the owner and wondering what has happened. Talked my friend into trying this tonight rather than going to Pete's as he suggested and after he said he was not impressed. We both would've rathered basic Pete's.

Gvin M.

Yelp
This is an amazing place, especially so by the staff and owner Matthew Oliver that make you feel at home. Food selection from the appetizers, main courses and desserts are great. Wine selection is excellent. There is cozy outdoor seating and at times live music. Great place for a date!

Samantha S.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious food, great service and super cute ambiance. Ate at House of Oliver for a late lunch with my mom and cousin, and so glad we did. We ordered 5 or 6 appetizers and each one was devoured. Ceasar was our server/bartender and he was so friendly, funny and helpful. Can't wait to come back again!

Nikki C.

Yelp
During my recent visit to House of Oliver, I was disappointed by the lackluster state of the restaurant. The outdated velvet curtains and disco ball on the ceiling were unappealing, and the patio furniture was in poor condition, with faded and hole-ridden cushions. Additionally, the area was infested with gnats, making it unpleasant to sit outside. Moving inside, I found the accent chairs to be worn-out and uncomfortable, and the menus were dirty and needed cleaning. However, to be fair, I must say that my husband enjoyed the Asian meatballs, and I was pleasantly surprised by the restaurant's good wine selection Despite my husband enjoying the Asian meatballs and the restaurant having a good wine selection, I still believe that House of Oliver is in dire need of a renovation to update and modernize the space. I would strongly suggest that House of Oliver undergo a complete facelift with modern updates to bring it into the 21st century. Until these improvements are made, I cannot recommend this restaurant to others.

AJ S.

Yelp
House of Oliver has an attentive staff with a great wine selection. The margarita (gluten free) pizza was surprisingly phenomenal. The live music Thursday through Saturday is a nice touch.

Erin M.

Yelp
This bar is awesome! The service was great, the drinks were also amazing and they offer a great happy hour. The ambiance was chill and relaxing. Can't wait to come back on bottomless mimosa day and check out all their incredible events they offer.

Diane R.

Yelp
Enjoyed a delicious lunch and great service today. Love this place and continue to tell others about it and take friends. Every time we eat here it is great! Diane R.

Don M.

Yelp
I'd seen this place driving down Douglas and figured I'd stop by and check out their happy hour. The place wasn't overly busy. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by a smiling server. She took me to my table and told me all about their happy hour specials. Lucky for me it was Whiskey Wednesday. I tried an old fashioned and was impressed. Looking at the happy hour menu I thought I would try the Margarita Flatbread. My wonderful waitress recommended I try the French Dip. I couldn't decide so I ordered both. I was really impressed with both the food and the service. My server, Summer, was very attentive, had a pleasant attitude, and took very good care of all my needs. This is a really cool place. I would recommend stopping by and checking them out.

Wendell A.

Yelp
Did not enjoy our meal there. Service was good. Food so so. Our entree's were like warm.

Susan W.

Yelp
We love this place!! Been going since they opened! Service is 5 star! Great people great atmosphere! Food is exceptional!! Love the outdoor patio too! Pup friendly! They offer our pup a water bowl every time!!

Jack R.

Yelp
Went for happy hour. If you can call it that. The place was pretty empty. Their drink were just ok. And they did not have that many wines on happy hour. And not that many beers on tap and not a great selection. My biggest complaint was the food, not that many things on the happy hour menu, the special was wings and they were terrible. They don't have a fryer ? And they were baked. My date likes to go there for the wine tasting on Monday night. But I would suggest someplace else.

Leila A.

Yelp
Cesar was such an outstanding waiter. He constantly made sure we were doing okay. He gave us the best recommendations on the menu. His customer service was a 10/10! Please go visit him!

Liz D.

Yelp
Tomas (our Somalia and server) was in a word... amazing. Our main course was delicious only to be followed up by a very tasty and decadent dessert. Lovely patio and indoor space to have a glass of wine (or bottle ;-) ) and a meal. Looking forward to future visits!

Erin M.

Yelp
Let me start with the 1 highlight-- the French Dip. I'm super particular about them because of the au jus. This was stellar. Kudos to the chef. The rest was odd. We were seated immediately, but no one came by for 10 mins. I watched every table get served. So I thought at 3:30 is was a staff changeover. I'm hangry now. This is a swanky place, so I ordered my usual dry greygoose vodka martini. I was disappointed when it was served in a champagne coupe. I would except a place like this and the price to serve in a martini glass. I'm grateful for your indoor dining. Ok with no mask wearing staff. I've been practicing social distancing before it was a thing. SO having the server continually touch me was unnerving. I don't care if it was 2010, that's not cool. Neither was the hostess putting reserved place cards on our table while we were eating. Just an odd dining experience.

Sadie E.

Yelp
Food was subpar, braised rib was well overdone and dry, ribs were tough to eat and just covered in sauce. Drinks were priced ok. Service was ok. The jazz music outside was nice. But there were 2 men smoking inside the bar with the doors open. Never coming back, spend too much money for bad food.

Christina W.

Yelp
Patrons Beware!!! This "pastor" Matthew up-charges without telling you. I bought two bottles of wine at his "wine sale". He charged an extra fee because I used my credit card -- never told me that he was doing this. Check out House of Oliver reviews -- not very good. my husband I will NEVER go there or buy anything from House of Oliver again. "pastor" Matthew was also very rude on the phone tonight when I questioned him about the excess charge, especially when I asked him why he didn't let me know about the excess charge during my purchase. Many friends I know in Granite Bay and Roseville want nothing to do with House of Oliver anymore because of the over-priced menu, poor service and shady dealings by this owner.

Summer M.

Yelp
So my co'worker and I were looking for a new place to eat and stumbled upon this restaurant. Super cool atmosphere, Sandra the bartender was great. Brittany our server was fantastic and the food was really good also. Highly recommend it

Doug T.

Yelp
Overpriced and outdated. Service was mediocre. Wine selection was good but waaaay too expensive. Decore was worn, dusty and the floors were dirty. Platinum Wine Bar is sooooo much better. Don't waste your time or money here!

Brenda F.

Yelp
Love to go there and have a French dip and other things one of my go to lunches sometimes dinner.

Staci S.

Yelp
The other night my date and I were looking for a nice place to have a glass of wine. We found House of Oliver walked in and were immediately greeted by Cesar. He was personable and told us to have a seat anywhere and he would be right with us...from the moment he went over the menu and suggested and served us until we left the experience was exactly what we were looking for. Thank you Cesar and House of Oliver!

Steve L.

Yelp
Food was fantastic! The short ribs and prime rib options were delicious. The help was great, very knowledgeable and quick to bring us our drinks and food. The drink selection was awesome. The cocktails and beer were on point. The only reason I am giving a 4 star review instead of 5 is because of the amount of people they packed in the tent outside. I don't mind going to a busy restaurant ... but I do mind being at a table and asking the person sitting at the table behind me to scoot in when I need to pull my chair out to sit down.

Sherree S.

Yelp
Love the owner's engagement with marketing and the customer. Fun place, not as many obnoxious gen xers so that's a plus Good food/vibe
