"As one of LA’s most distinct diners, House of Pies has all the makings of an ideal stop before or after a concert. It’s open daily from 7 a.m. until 1 a.m., with traditional fare for dinner including buttermilk pancakes, french toast, and waffles any time of day. For dinner, opt for the pot pies, fish and chips, or country-fried steak. But always leave room for pie. Just pick a filling, whether strawberry, pecan, key lime, cherry, or peach. "We get it. It’s fun to rag on House of Pies. The service is terrible, your food may or may not come out in a timely manner, and your odd nocturnal neighbor who moonlights as a writer probably told you they like to do work here. However, when it’s 2am and you've just come out of a midnight showing at the Los Feliz 3, there’s nowhere better to grab a cup of coffee or slice of room-temperature pie than this Vermont Avenue staple.
