Delicious and unique to the Berkshires! The food, atmosphere, and service were top notch. I'm so happy to see varied cuisine like this in Pittsfield. The portions were very generous and the flavors were fantastic. It's so great to have restaurants like this, where the owners get to share a piece of the world with us. You can tell they take pride in their delicious dishes and in their lovely establishment. Our server was super polite and attentive and helped us pick out some dishes since we were unfamiliar with the food. So glad we took his suggestions - the food was so good... Nice flavors, unique spices and ingredients that made for a great meal (with leftovers, the plates were big). We got the Dibi with fried plantains (you have to try them) and the Tchep Au Poulet. Both were so good - such unique flavors, the place lives up to its name! The chicken was nice and crispy and the lamb had great char flavoring to it. Definitely give it a try. We'll definitely be coming back to sample more of the menu!

Being from Dallas I have been in many African restaurants, but this one is by far one of the best. I'd put it in the top five best African restaurants I've ever visited. The food is very flavorful, the portions are more than generous and the service is great. It has a cozy, yet elegant atmosphere with a warm touch that makes you feel at home. I definitely recommend this spot.

House of Seasoning is a "MUST GO TO" when up in Western MA. First and foremost, the food was arguably the best I've ever had. And as the name suggests, the seasoning is what makes it both unique and delicious. I've never had food like it before. My wife and I went and ordered the Choukouya de Poulet (African style jerk chicken) and the Dibi (marinated grilled lamb with sautéed seasoned onions). For sides we got the cous cous and fried plantains. Not only did the seasoning on the meat standout, but it was so tender, moist and perfectly cooked. A true explosion of flavor! Plus the cous cous and dipping sauces were such great compliments to an already outstanding dish. And don't even get me started on the fried plantains... truly addicting, plump and fried pieces of plantain that were just sweet enough with the starchiness of the plantain - great with and without the dipping sauce. I wish I could better elaborate on the flavor profile of the main dishes we got (the chicken and lamb) but I wouldn't even know where to begin - you just NEED to try it! The atmosphere seemed authentic (and I only say that because I'm not West African nor an expert on their culture). It was clean, inviting and colorful (see the pics below). Plus, there's a full bar, though we just had water. The restaurant also features live authentic African musical artists, which I'm sure would be a lot of fun to enjoy on a weekend night there. The service was phenomenal. Matthew greeted us, chatted with us and was overall very personable and welcoming. He made us feel like we were VIPs, and told us about the restaurant, cuisine and his culture. And he was right, there's nothing else like it! Plus, the food was prepared quickly, accurately and was presented in such a way that begged you to eat it. And most importantly as highlighted above, it was better than words can describe! Overall, l would highly recommend House of Seasoning, with its clean, colorful and authentic atmosphere, personable and efficient service, and food that's delicious beyond words. If we find ourselves around here again, we will without a doubt be back. My only critique is that there aren't more of these restaurants around, but it's worth the trip out just for experiencing House of Seasoning! We went when there was a dj Music as expected Now the food…I had never eaten there before and not sure about the lamb. Lamb says “cooked to perfection” MOST DEFINITELY NOT. I like to order items on the menu that I don’t often cook at home. They must have a signature diced onions and some sauce (it’s literally on everything they prepare) I liked the staff there the drinks were amazing Just do not cook the lamb so long it only needs a few mins on either side whether it’s broiled or pan fried I’ll probably have drinks next time I go there. My guests food was cold and the yams were good. Overall not as good as I hoped 🤷🏽‍♀️

MAGNIFIQUE!!! The wings? 😙🤌 Chef's kiss. An appetizer par excellence. Crispy on the outside and so juicy, and served with a green sauce so delicious I want to put it on absolutely everything. Get the dibi and the Abidjan mixer. If you like fermented foods, get the kenkey, too, and dip it in everything. This was one of the best meals we've had in Berkshire County; we will definitely be coming back.

My husband and I had lunch there. We ordered the ginger juice and sorel juice. Both were refreshing and unique, definitely give them a try. For entrees, we ordered the Tchep au Poulet, which was a grilled chicken over a sliced rice, the ribs, and a whole fried fish. Everything was really flavorful, but the standouts were the rice, which was a deep red and so incredibly delicious and the hot sauce (which you do need to ask for). They should sell the hot sauce, it was really spicy and also flavorful. The ribs were a bit over cooked but tasty. The chicken was tender and went so well with the rice. The fish was flaky and cooked perfectly. We also got plaintains which were soft and not oily at all. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal here and will definitely be back!

Pittsfield never ceases to amaze me. Using Google Maps we found this restaurant with food from a francophone country in Africa. This was really a treat to enjoy another ethnic food in little Pittsfield. Can’t wait to come back!

The food was amazing! We got take out, as this is one of the only places in the area open after 9pm and man was this a great choice! We got choukouya de poulet & tchep au poulet. The chicken was good but I have to say the star of the tchep dish was that flavorful rice! And the carrot got so much flavor from whatever it was cooked in, that really stood out to me. I would seriously recommend that tchep dish, you will not be disappointed. We got couscous as a side for the choukouya dish and it was a bit tart, might recommend a little less vinegar or citrus for that item but if I had a third stomach, I had my eye on those fish dishes. Maybe next time I’m in town!

I think that I went here on the wrong day. They are open Thursday through Sunday. And, I came on a Sunday. They were out of half the entrees - literally half. I can only imagine what was left were not the best choices. So, sadly, I can't give a five stara. What I really like herei is the flavoring. Do not think of seasoning as spicy food. Think of it as a series of complex flavors added to meats and more. For example, the chicken wings were among the best I have ever tasted. Cooked perfectly and with spice that gave it complexity. The green sauce with it was amazingly good. I wish I could take some of it home. Three of us ate dinner. As I said, most of what we wanted was sold out. Of the three dishes we did eventually order the fried fish was the best. Tasty with a light sauce that complemented the fish and did not overwhelm it. We also ordered the pork ribs, which were good but too fatty and tough, and the lamb that was a touch overcooked. But, in each case, they tasted good. Just not five stars. The cassava couscous was good and the plantains are a must. I will come back because the word of mouth is so good. But, for me this ought to be three stars. I will give one additional star for the service and the local ownership. When I do come back, it will be on a Thursday or Friday. This is now at the top of my list for favorite casual restaurant in the Berkshires. I'm a NYC transplant living in the Berks for several years and have eaten everywhere. I use Yelp a lot looking for local restaurants to try out. Score!! I've never had such bold flavors as at House of Seasoning and the owners are wonderful people and share their love of their West African culture and food. We have gone 4 times in the past 3 weeks and will be going back for more on a regular basis. There are only 2 appetizers available, and you have to get them both. These are hands down the best wings I've ever had. No blue cheese, no buffalo sauce (which I love), but the spice rub on these are off the chain. They are crispy, piping hot, and the green dipping sauce is tangy and bright and almost reminds me of a traditional Peruvian green sauce (iykyk) and you'll want to buy a bottle. The beef kabobs are tender juicy flavor bombs that are deeply marinated and grilled, then bathe in more green sauce. If you like heat like me, ask for a side of the pepper relish. Deep deep flavor and will give you the heat you want. So good. Now for the mains. The jerk chicken is amazing and has an African type of Pico de Gallo that is a blend of marinated red onion and some vegetables that is delicious. The Tchep chicken is in a deep rich sauce that was incredible, amd is served with 'exotic rice' which is unlike anything I've ever tasted before and I needed a shovel to just keep filling my face with it. No exaggeration. It's incredible. The whole fried fish was also great, but you do have to do the work to de-bone it. I enjoy that personally, but just letting you know. I will do the whole grilled fish next time. It also looked really tasty. The ribs are in a sauce that is rich and deep in flavor. Grilled, not slow smoked so there is still some pull and chew to them. I've had them twice. We also had the peanut butter chicken soup. The title doesn't do it justice. The pb flavor is subtle, the broth is creamy and the chicken is fall off the bone tender. It's only available on the weekend fyi. The entrée portions are generous, the prices are more than reasonable at @$15-20 (or every other place is just too damn expensive), and a beer is $5, wine is $6 and mixed drinks are top shelf so a round of cocktails is not the price of another meal. They have a dj on Fridays, Afro Beats Dance Party on Sundays and it's a place to relax, eat amazing food that is unique and addictive, and support local small business owners, Mathieu and Raissa, that are a wonderful new addition to the Pittsfield restaurant scene. Just go once and you will go back again and again like we are!

Back here for my 2nd dinner in 3 days while visiting friends up in Pittsfield. The food is off the charts; depth of flavor, fresh and creative from the Turkey Tails to the Tchep Chicken, fried fish, Wings, Ribs, the seasoning, the sauces, the accoutrements, all exceptional. Prices are beyond reasonable. If you're ever in The Pittsfield area, you must check them out. They're hidden away on Seymour St, the proverbial hidden gem. The proprietors, Matt and Raissa, are wonderful!

Had dinner tonight at House of Seasoning and WOW it blew us away. The portions are big, the service is attentive and you can tell the food is cooked with passion. Skip the typical average pub grub you find everywhere else in the Berkshires and try something new...you won't regret it!

We went last Saturday having read other rave reviews. It's really good. I had lamb and my husband had peanut soup with chicken. Both were delicious. One reviewer said the green sauce was terrific, so I asked for some on the side. It was really good. A but like Lucia's green sauce, We were there later in the evening, and service was very attentive.

We had the most delightful evening here. From the friendly welcoming we received upon entering to the amazing food...it was perfect. The House of Seasoning is just as the name sounds. The food is about flavor. Perfectly cooked. Beautifully presented. The owners love what they do and want to share that love with their customers. We cannot wait to return and try more dishes. The prices are more than reasonable.

Seriously -- my all time favorite restaurant in the Berkshires. Don't let the exterior scare you away!!' Inside it is warm, inviting....and the BEST most tasty food around. It's all healthy homemade sauces, fresh as it gets. And hands down the perfect wings of all time. The beef skewers are insane. The green sauce is beyond beyond. Don't know what else I can tell you. I am almost afraid to promote the place cuz I like walking in and getting a table. But this family owned restaurant deserves to be huge!! And the prices are right too! This place is an experience. Cannot wait to back tonight - second night in a row! Update: Came back again and had the fried fish! Best I've ever had. And the plantains - omg!

I'd been looking forward to trying their menu for some time. I wanted strongly spiced food and flavors I'd never had before, as I've had and made dishes from S. and N. African countries (yum!). Oh My! The marinated pork ribs and accompaniments were just fabulous! I couldn't identify the spices which is an indicator of the chef's skill. The atmosphere was congenial and welcoming. Do yourself a favor and try House of Seasoning.

Food was incredible, everything was full of flavor. Also loved the natural juices. Got extras to bring home. Give this place a try!
