Houston Restaurants Anticipate ‘Barbie’ Film With Pink Food and Drink Specials - Eater Houston

"This Houston bakery is hopping on the bandwagon, serving up $60 Barbie-themed 8-inch cakes, with four-layer cakes of chocolate or white cake that are iced and filled with luscious buttercream in light or bright pink and topped with sprinkles, glitter, and a Barbie cut-out." - Megha McSwain

I can not emphasize enough how delicious everything was! The design and decor needs a little bit of love but don’t let it discourage you! I had the best authentic Mexican food. I had barbacoa (legit the same I’ve eaten in Mexico), fresh and tasteful cilantro and simply perfectly cooked rice! delicious champurrado. Also extremely affordable. Please come up with an easier system to tip for the amazing service the staff deserves it.

So the place is a hole in a wall, but worth it. The brisket meal has great flavor. Their hot salsa taste great.. just add salt to really appreciate it. I also got their traditional Honduran dish. If you like plantain you will like it. However ask for the fried chicken with all the rest… very good and could be served with their pancakes and be a big money maker for the restaurant. Owning my own catering company and cooking to stars… it’s a solid restaurant to support local businesses

A nice atmosphere and great service. The food was great. My husband had menudo and he was happy. A restaurant in the old neighborhood with great food. Home cooking.

Good food, we got a bowl of avena and you get raisins and cinnamon w it. 2 chorizo con huevo flour tortillas, and menudo with Corn tortillas echas a mano. We also got a pupusa revuelta. The flavor was good, the service was great, and the price is manageable. But I do have to say this, i didnt like their salsa at ALL. It's very watery and non spicy.

Went here Sunday with the fam. I gotta say the place looks rough!!! It's not very visible but it's on the corner of the rundown shopping center. When we first pulled up I wasn't to sure about eating here. My husband said we should still try it out. We walked in and ooooh man was it ugly in there!!! The place is dirty!!! They had dirty dishes with trash/dirty napkins pilled up on the bar area. It's a mess in there!!! I was even more worried once I saw the inside. I was scared of getting sick or my kids getting sick, but we still tried it 🤷🏻‍♀️😅 I must say I was a bit surprised that my food was really good 😅 I had 2 pupusas, 1 was chicharon with cheese and the other was I think rebuelta or rebuelto with cheese and curtido. They were soooo gooood!!!! My kids had tacos de barbacoa, a hamburger and pancakes. The hubs had menudo and 2 quesadillas with meat. He said it was good but it needed more flavor/ mas salesita and that the quesadillas were great, really tender meat.. Also I would like to point out that the staff was very polite/great service!!! We ordered a good amount of food/drinks and it was actually very cheap!! It was around $65. If we would have went to another restaurant and order the same it would have been closer to $100! I hope they give this place a facelift. Make it nice and clean/ tidy it up because the food is actually good here!

Solid Mexican breakfast and plates. I got the platanos breakfast and pozole. Both were tasty. The corn tortillas were delicious

I ordered the #17 breakfast...2 eggs, sausage, hashbrowns, grits, toast, & 2 pancakes. This is a lot of food, but so delicious. Wait staff provide excellent service. My only criticism of this restaurant is that the men's restroom is nasty & outdated. If not Covid 19, you think you may catch any kind of virus when using this restroom. 😂

Yelp
Unassuming Northside Mexican eatery with delicious caldos & breakfast tacos. An in-house panaderia, homemade tortillas, and a sweet waitstaff make this hole-in-the-wall a staple for the local community. I brought my parents here for breakfast, and they felt just as at home as I did when my brother brought me.

Yelp
This would have been a three star if it wasn't for the amazing tortillas. I got a couple of breakfast tacos today, and while they were tasty they weren't anything special - except the tortillas. These were the best corn tortillas I've ever had. I could go back and eat them all day long. When you walk in, just find a place to sit. I waited to be seated, and got some weird looks. The servers were all VERY sweet and helpful. This place is the definition of a hole in the wall that has a solid menu that keeps people coming back. Everyone looked like they were regulars and were talking amongst the tables. I definitely recommend it here.

Yelp
I would give this establishment ZERO stars if I could. The management is rude and completely unprofessional! We were in the restaurant and not only did the manager HARASS a woman with her small child, he was taking pictures of them while they were across the street which is completely a violation of her privacy with her child and made for an awkward situation for all of us eating there. If this man can act like this in public, imagine how he probably treats his staff. People like this should not have the privilege to have a profitable business.

Yelp
My go to spot for good authentic low cost Mexican food. Whether it's some tacos to go or a quick dine in meal.. I especially like their breakfast. The staff is always busy but they make sure to take care of you. It's also a panaderia. Been coming for years and highly recommend it if you haven't tried it yet.

Yelp
Great food at great prices. Customer service was excellent and the bakery amazing got to try it out!!! I've eat pan dulce all my life and this one wowed me at 50 years old.

Yelp
Best chicken caldo around! They also surprisingly have a couple of fresh squeezed juice options. And their queso empanada is my favorite treat to pick up from the little panadería they have inside.

Yelp
I was disappointed. Ordered the chicken enchiladas The sauce was bitter, the rice was under cooked and hard. The water tasted untreated. I took The Jamaica drink to go. :-(

Yelp
Terrible quality food - bland, dry, and burnt to a crisp. For example, their pupusas - which should be removed from the menu. What I received were not pupusas, nor were they "edible" by any means. Disappointed they would serve this food to customers. Save your money and your tastebuds, go elsewhere.

Yelp
It took almost one hour and a half to get our order that we placed to go, once we got home we took the food out only to find a cockroach inside one of the hamburger and fries that my kid wanted. I called to complain and the girl did offer me to go back and get something else but honestly we were just not hungry anymore so no I do not recommend this place.

Yelp
I ordered some Guacamole with a meal and they did not tell us they didn't have any when we ordered they just substituted salsa for the guacamole, so I had to pay for chips I couldn't eat because no guacamole, they don't even deserve one star. Very disappointed in their service and the fact they cost me extra money to buy the chips which should have came with it. The rice was under cooked and the Charro beans had more Jalapenos than beans in it; I can't tolerate the heat . Food and service was very disappointing today.

Yelp
Great Mexican restaurant! Staff is super friendly, and the menu is pretty extensive. Order the gorditas!

Alyssa R.

Yelp
Customer service is nice but I came here early morning and picked up some bread thinking it would be fresh and every bread I got was old and hard, I could tell they've been sitting out for some days. I came at 8am for fresh breaI won't be coming back here,

Yelp
The best pork chops I've had. Fresh and warm tortillas as well. This is definitely the best authentic Mexican ( or TexMex ) you can have.

Yelp
It was great until a few months ago. Idk what happened but the beef fajitas do not taste the same. They changed the meat quality or recipe, but it isn't great any more. I stopped going because of that. Went the 5 times and it was the same. I used to go there all the time. Now, it's just an average place.

Lutisha A.

Yelp
Best breakfast tacos I ever had as long as they don't burn the tortillas they're great

Yelp
This place is small but the food great. Love the breakfast here, its really good. The only issue is the parking, but if you love mexican food is worth it.

Yelp
Affordable spot with really good breakfast. I recommend the Bistek a la Mexicana and their amazing fresh squeezed orange juice.

Yelp
Simple, straight forward, good Hispanic food. Great service, low prices. Don't judge a book by its cover and give it a try. Tortas and bread are amazing.

Jasmin G.

Yelp
Over priced bakery pasteries , waitress brought food out before the chips and salsa . Very disorganized staff .

Melisa M.

Yelp
It is what it is,inconsistent! The fajita had a good burnt taste and nicely burnt tortilla to go with it. SARCASM!Very stingy on the serving size. The gordita I had was so paper thin and crispy with hardly any fajita meat that if not for the white melted cheese I would have made a bigger mess trying to get feed myself. My mom loves the place cause it's a place to hang out not far from home.Everyone but their complaints are welcomed.Flys are a problem and don't even bother washing your hands cause you'll get them dirtier just trying to go wash them.If I could give the three stars for most over night improved salsa since my last Vist I would but then their oil drenched chips would take that compliment away.I did have to ask to have tortilla switched. I wanted more pics but mom was right somethings are better left to your own discovery.I don't see my jefa much so a quick prayer over food and alot of conversation to forget and make the best of it will have to do.
