I was walking by with my family, when we decided to pop in and have an early lunch. We were pleasantly surprised! Food: We had a total of 21 hand rolls. Spicy Tuna, o-toro, uni, eel, signature and blue crab. My favorite was the uni. It was creamy and fresh. Price: It's a bit pricey, but the portions are much larger than the norm. You won't need too many to fill up. Interior: Clean. Two thumbs up. Customer Service: Professional, courteous. Parking: This is DTLA. May the odds ever be in your favor!

We had an amazing Omakase experience curated and orchestrated by Executive Chef Marni. The experience was visually beautiful and the tastes were out of this world. There is no set menu for Omakase, so open your mind and allow Marni to take you on a journey through his fresh and creative delicacies. Each of the 7 dishes was unique and delicious in its own right. Paired with sake or beer, you will have a great time no matter what Wednesday you reserve. Can't wait to go back!

Delicious!! The quality of fish that HRB serves is super fresh and exquisite. It is sashimi hand roll style bar... hence the name Hand Roll Bar. A very clean restaurant with nice staff. Best thing that I had on the menu which was very original was the O Torro (fatty tuna) in truffle sauce. To die for. Best sushi experience I’ve had since Tokyo.

Made it in for lunch time and there wasn't much of a wait at all... It's a bar seating setup, allowing you to see everything get prepared, which was nice. However, the hand rolls weren't anything amazing. Big pieces of seaweed layered with a good size of rice and topped with decent size cuts of the fish but the flavors didn't hit it out of the park. I wish I could give it a 4, but it was only an OK meal IMO @phidingthefam

I love the rolls all of them are made right in front if you! And super fresh every bite is like a little piece of heaven! I go very often its only block away from my work. So it's a very good place for a quick but delicious lunch or other. And the owner and the rest of the staff are so sweet!! The owner let's me stay and draw for hours even when I only get like 2 rolls. The conversations are very fun. Plus seeing how all the staff gets along is so charming and funny!!

The first official review of HRB. My wife and I went into this place during the second week of their soft opening. You can definitely tell that they are still trying to get the kinks rolled out before the place is running smoothly. I selected their 6 handrolls a la carte set which were the Salmon, Scallops, Hamachi, Blue Crab, Lobster, and their Signature roll. Everything was pretty tasty and they had a flavor profile that is unique from their cross town rival Kazu Nori. Don't expect to come here and eat the same thing you would be there. The scallops had a spice level to it and the Hamachi had a distinct Yuzu flavor profile. My only complaint about the rolls was the fact that the rice was cold and not warm. The owner was nice enough to check in on us for any advice. My wife told him that the rice should be warmer and he explained that they are working on that. My other complaint is also the hot green tea. It would be much better if the tea was from an individual bag to be steeped instead of pre-boiled before service. We'll definitely be back again once they get the wheels rolling.

Best sushi in LA.. The level of sophistication and care of details including hand rolling, bite size, high quality ingredients and even rice temperature, simply make you enjoy an amazing taste. The restaurant is very clean and the staff are amazing. First time i tried it, I took few rolls home and I literally went back to say thank the chef. I also met the manger who was happy to know I only came back to say thank you. I have no choice but to give a FIVE stars review.

First of all the restaurant is nice and clean. The food is good. Price is reasonable. I like the Signature truffle sashimi that they gave as complementary. The scallop roll is spicy but it is good. I do like it but my husband was complaining that it is a bit too spicy for him. Price also including service charges 18% so you don’t need to bother about the tips after the meal. My only one complain is I wish the rice was warm.
