I’m so impressed! This is a little hole in the wall, locally owned place, obscured by the endless construction on Rhode Island Avenue. Don’t forget about them, please. It’s authentic Peruvian food, great chicken and sides, for a super low price. The pictured plates here cost $12 total (it’s one meal, split with my husband, so six bucks each). That’s just a great deal these days. Also the restaurant is nice enough that I would eat there rather than carry out sometimes. It feels homey. We’re lucky to have this place in the neighborhood. Easy comparison — this is very like Chicken & Whiskey on 14th, but a bit cheaper.

This place was fantastic!! Food was amazing- flavorful, beautiful, and good size portions. The place was clean and staff was friendly. We ate here just before the Van Gogh experience, it was a short walk and made the trip was even better because of our lunch!!

The chicken is average, nothing special. The fried rice had no flavor, not even salt. The beans and rice were good. The best thing was the yuca. The sauces are just ok. The pink one is the best, it has a little spice to it. Customer service could improve, asked about something on the menu and the lady at the front seemed annoyed or just not having a good day.

Came here with a coworker and had 1/4 dark chicken with fried rice and fried plantains. My coworker had the Lomo Saltado and it's really good! This place is a nice hole in the wall, service is satisfactory and they make their food pretty fast! Don't let the looks of the place fool you out of good food from Huatacay Restaurant! By the way, they make the fried rice really well here. It's as if there's no grease in it, unlike generic Chinese American restaurants like Panda Express where you smell and taste the grease in their fried rice 😬

Yummy neighborhood Peruvian restaurant. The chicken was tender and very tasty. Yucca fries are my fav. The plantain and black beans on the side were great. Green sauce is a must!

Hole in the wall place with no frills, but amazing food!! We had the lomo saltado and ceviche. They were very generous w the meat/fish portions, well worth the price of each dish.

Google
Incredible flavor and value!! You get an ENTIRE chicken with three sides and six sauces for $25. Tell me where else that's possible in DC? Also, everything is absolutely delicious. I recommend the Arroz Chaufa as a side. It's like a Peruvian version of Chinese fried rice, and it's bomb. Honestly, it's all SO good. You can't go wrong. Just order already!

Stopped here for lunch after seeing Google reviews. It was ah-maz-ing! The staff were so nice and helpful to me and my kids and the food was just phenomenal. Try it— you won’t be disappointed.

Yelp
the pollo company took over the space after huacatay unexpectedly closed in Edgewood. The menus are similar - they serve pollo a la brasa or Peruvian charbroiled chicken. The chicken is great, very flavorful and cooked well. Favorite sides are the arroz chaufa (fried rice) and fried yucca. They have two sauces - green and pink, both are good but I use more of the pink sauce. Online ordering is easy, my order was ready in 10-15 minutes and pickup was easy. Prices are great for the amount of food

Yelp
This was the best Peruvian chicken I have had in such a long time! Living in Northern VA there are so many different Peruvian chicken spots to choose from but this place surpasses all of them! We were in DC visiting and came across this place. First, let me start off with how welcoming the staff was when we arrived. The place was clean and comfortably sat our party of 9. The food was absolutely delicious!! I don't think I've ever had chicken so juicy and flavorful. The sauces were so good! That's usually a hit or miss, but they definitely got the recipe right for the sauces! The yuca was crispy on the outside and soft in the inside with flavor .... Just perfectly cooked! We got the arroz chaufa, fries and plantains and loved it all. My kids went back for thirds of the arroz chaufa and took some to go. Overall, I loved all the food and service we received. We will definitely be coming back. The drive from VA to DC was worth it! This is a must try if you're in the area!

Yelp
The chicken here is very dry and lacks seasoning. Very disappointing. Despite the fact it's one of the only places in the neighborhood to eat, I won't go back again. It's mid overall. I'm actually Latina and I expect a lot more out of a place like this. If you don't mind overpaying for dry chicken and side dishes that have a soap-y aftertaste, you'll be just fine.

Yelp
Food is delicious and fresh! The sides are all pretty yummy but I can't leave without the chaufa rica and that green sauce for the chicken. The chicken is busssinggggg (very flavorful and tender). The service is great, the staff is very friendly and efficient. The place has an overall home-y feel to it that I love also!

Yelp
Delicious chicken!!! Loved the sauces, beans, plantain. service with a smile! Clean bathrooms!

Yelp
Superb all around! From the warm, friendly and outgoing personalities of their staff, to their spot on flavoring of their lomo saltado (my favorite); this place it's a hidden gem. The chicken it's not dry and the flavors blend well.

Yelp
I used to frequent this place all of the time, but the chicken is very dry and does not taste good at all. A lot of my military friends would recommend this place, but after my visit yesterday after being ignored patiently waiting in line and them rushing to take my order I will never go back. With all of the other locations that have better chicken that is not dry. Absolutely, do not recommend this place unless every other place is closed and no other food place exists. That is how bad the chicken is.

Yelp
I tried the lomo salteado and it was delicious, the beef was perfect and the rice was tasty. The personal who works in there are nice and helpful. The place is comfortable and easy for parking.

Yelp
I've been a few times now and keep coming back because I've had great experiences each time. Staff has always been so welcoming. Plus, I'm a sucker for a great drink with my food. The kids loved their food. I took a flan to go thinking I'd just take a few bites and would finish the rest later but devoured it. Definitely recommend this spot.

Yelp
chicken was amazing, plantains even better! make sure you try the Tres Leches. so good!!!

Yelp
Great food, fast and friendly service. I love both the well-cooked, moist and flavorful chicken and the tender lomo saltado. Very good choice for ordering full family dinners at a great price.

Yelp
This place is great! We got the family platter. Whole chicken, large white rice, and large fries. I also got a small side of fried plantains. We got it to go and ate at home. It was quick and so easy. We placed our order, and it was ready in less than 5 minutes! Very nice staff! They greeted us, was patient as we ordered and asked if we wanted any utensils and napkins to go. Everything was still hot when we got home. There are tables to sit and eat there if you want. Chicken was so juicy. The white rice was good. Plantains were really good! The fries were fine. We like ours a litter crisper, but still good, that's just our preference. The sauces were good. We didn't ask but will next time if there is a spicier sauce. We got just the yellow and green sauce. Sorry for the pictures we plated before we took pictures. But we even had leftovers. Overall great addition to the neighborhood. We will be back. This was a quick, inexpensive meal!

Yelp
I was so glad to see another Peruvian spot after Hucatay closed. But this was not it. The chicken was dry and tasted like it was made in old grease. The fries has a kind of chemical taste to them. 2 stars is for the staff who were very friendly but I would not be going back.
