"The strip-mall digs may be humble, but the array of roasted meats on display at this Cantonese-style barbecue joint is captivating: While roast duck and roast pork are its main claims to fame, the spare ribs, soy sauce chicken, and house special fried rice all deserve a spin. (Note that seating in the tiny space is extremely limited; takeout is the way to go, literally.)" - Ruth Tobias, Eater Staff

Wow! This place is incredible. We got the #22 and #24 (BBQ pork & roasted pork plates with rice) and they were delicious. The roasted pork was flavorful and crispy. I do wish it came with some kind of sauce, but nonetheless still good. BBQ pork was tender and perfectly seasoned. Service was great- we got our food super fast. Highly recommend.

Google
The restaurant offered very good food with relatively cheap price. I liked it a lot. Everything was authentic and tasty. I also saw many locals visit here to fill their refrigerator I guess. I recommend add some slices of spicy tofu to your dish.

I’ve been meaning to try this place FOREVER and I’m so glad I finally did for a takeout Valentine’s Day dinner! I called to place an order (note: the online order system wasn’t working at the timeframe, around 6pm). Between the call and arriving to the restaurant, only 15 minutes had passed and the food was already packaged up and ready to go. The place itself is just a simple, small establishment — no need for frills when the food speaks for itself! Great, fast service. The half duck, bbq pork and rice, and spicy tofu were fantastic — the half duck in particular was just perfect for a cold winter night. My only tiny bit of critique is that the beef chow fun was a tad lacking in flavor, but some soy sauce helped there. Overall, the food was amazing and I think we’ve finally found our go-to takeout place!

Google
I was not expecting this level of Chinese bbq in Colorado. Very pleasantly surprised at the quality and quantity of food for the price. Rivals any restaurant I go to back in the San Gabriel Valley. Definitely worth a try if you're in the area or make it a staple if you live here.

Google
We ate at this mom-and-pop shop for Saturday lunch. We ordered the duck, chicken, and roast pork combo; half a pound of crispy pork; shrimp chow fun; and garlic sauce bok choy. Service is quick and to the point, but friendly and welcoming. Our food was high quality and honestly the prices were hard to believe they were so good. Everything was full of flavor and the portions were large. We did dine-in and our food was served in to-go containers but not bagged like takeout orders. Bottled beverages are available. There was a busy line the whole time we were here. I would definitely go back.

Google
Great family run traditional Chinese restaurant with roasting window viewing. This is bone in meat sliced over a bed of rice. You can’t go wrong with the three delicacy combo, duck, chicken, and pork.

Google
Amazing place!! It's so worth the commute from Fort Collins to get some char siu, siu yuk, and beef chow fun 🤤😋

Google
The best Cantonese style bbq and authentic Chinese food in this side of Denver! We stop at this stop for takeout for a quick weeknight dinner and we usually have plenty of leftovers for meals the next couple of days. The owners are always pretty friendly with quick service. This is more of a take out place but they do have a couple of tables for people to dine in. My favorites are the roast pork (it is very crispy pork belly), bbq pork, roast duck, and the beef chow fun. Can’t wait to try other things on the menu.

Yelp
The servings at Huakee BBQ did not disappoint! My boyfriend and I split BBQ pork fried rice and the three delicacy plate. Everything was so delicious and well cooked. The BBQ pork was my favorite of all the meats we tried. The five spice really came through in a nice way. The fried rice was really good too! It was just the right amount of flavor. I would definitely go again in the future when I have a craving for Chinese food because this truly hit the spot. It was also quick. The food was ready within 20 minutes for pickup. It is located near H Mart in Westminster, so it's pretty easy to find too!

Spencer L.

Yelp
Absolutely loved it!! So much wok hay from the fried rice and the bok choy. Amazing value for your money. Unassuming environment but the food brings you so much comfort.

Amanda J.

Yelp
YUM! If you're looking for some great bbq for takeout, this place is it! We love stopping by here after an H mart trip, it's a small shop, no frills, get your food and go home. We usually get the 3 combination and it comes with duck, chicken, and pork, with some bok choy and rice. It's all made well and tastes like something my mom used to make!

Ingrid P.

Yelp
When you walk into Huakee, don't expect stellar customer service as this is truly an authentic Cantonese BBQ place. The food speaks for themselves - the char siu and crispy pork belly are great. As a heads up - you can only order their smoked duck in 1/2 or 1 lb increments. If you come here, I would only order their BBQ items. Their chow fun is underseasoned and had minimal char flavor despite me knowing they stir fried it in a wok. For those coming back from RMHP and need a protein/carb fill up or are in getting groceries at H-Mart, this is a place to grab a quick bite!

Ayla B.

Yelp
If you want juicy, rich, and crispy pork... this is the spot! I seriously could've eaten my body weight in this pork it was so decadent and delicious. The location itself is very small with not a lot of seating. It's definitely a quick service experience and you pay for everything at the end... which is a little different for a faster service experience. This small shop gets a lot of traffic in and out (not surprising being that this pork literally melted in my mouth). So, a guarantee for a table might be more rare during busier hours! But, we were able to grab a table to enjoy this lunch! For the pork alone... I give it a solid 5 stars! What a treat! I'll be back very soon!

Kate C.

Yelp
After learning Woodys doesn't offer any gluten free items, I thought I'd try Huakee. I Called to confirm if they offered anything gluten free for myself. They do not offer anything on their menu gluten free. So disappointing when restaurants aren't able to accommodate diners with allergies. Tamari is such an easy substitution for soy sauce, when will Asian restaurants expand their options?

Tony P.

Yelp
I was in town visiting to play golf and found this place on Yelp near our hotel. It sounded good for a few of us. The lady working was very friendly and the food was very good. We all ordered something different so we could try each other's meals. All of them were delicious. Not much for ambiance but it didn't matter. Numerous people came in for the roast duck and they ran out.

Timothy L.

Yelp
No frills Chinese bbq restaurant. There's a few tables to sit and eat if you'd like, although I'm sure most people take it home. It's not on the top of the list of best Chinese bbq places I've been to, but I also can't say there's many around the Denver area that I've seen. Roast pork 5/5 - crunchy skin yet tender, juicy meat. It shined more than the roast pork Char siu/ bbq pork 4/5 - good flavor and texture. Chow fun 3/5 - if you're really craving some noodles, it'll check the box. I'd pass on this next time and save my craving for another restaurant. I'll be back next time we go shopping at H-Mart next door to try their other dishes.

Karl G.

Yelp
I love the food and service but they are struggling so everyone come support if you can. D hate to see another mom and pop shop close

Dereck H.

Yelp
Fantastic food, probably the best Chinese bbq in the area. Char siu (bbq pork) is a must-have along with their siu yook (roast pork).

Lily S.

Yelp
This place is authentic, I can tell by the way they chop the meats, heavily but crisply with a classic Chinese cleaver. The Char Siu BBQ Pork brings me back home and the color is the shade of pink as it should be. The subtle sweetness is also how its supposed to be. Pig ears are crunchy and covered in sesame seeds. Beef tendons are soft and gooey. The only "complaint" my friend had was that it's not spicy enough. But Hua Kee has to cater to most palettes so I understand. Just ask for hot sauce! I love LOVED the beef chow fun (rice noodles). It was full of wok he and has that glaze a good stir fry represents. YUM!

William B.

Yelp
Super quick friendly service. Portion sizes are super big and the food is awesome. The rice is unbelievably good and the meat is so flavorful

Daniel I.

Yelp
Good duck soup and pot belly! Authentic food! I enjoyed authentic food in Taiwan and this place was a gem to discover in Colorado.

Prescott S.

Yelp
Phenomenal. Don't expect incredible service, that's not why you come here. The food. THE FOOD. THEEE FOOOOOOOOOD!!!! Incredible. Get the crispy pork. It's possibly not on the menu, ask for it anyways. It's a tiny hole in the wall spot, so ambiance isn't much. Who cares, that's not why you're here. You're here for the crispy pork!!!

Wells L.

Yelp
TL:DR - Chow fun was fine, wouldn't recommend getting it take out though (from anywhere) as it clumps together by the time you get home. Got the three item meal, roast duck and bbq pork were a bit dry, which is really hard to do for Canto bbq. The roast pork was mind blowingly good, however, and really the only thing that saved this review from being a bomb. Not sure how this compares to other places in Den, but I've easily had better else where. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Was staying near by and love me some Canto bbq, so we stopped by this place. We got a three item rice bowl and beef chow fun. I'm starting to realize beef chow fun isn't always the best for take out as it usually gets stuck together by the time you get home. The flavor was on point though. The reason for the 3 stars was the bbq. Both the duck and bbq pork were both a bit dry as if they had been sitting out way too long, as canto bbq normally sits out and is still juicy by the time I get to it. Flavor was fine, the bbq pork was subtly muted as it was drier (not dry, but drier). The roast pork on the other hand was delicious. Super flavorful, salty, and meaty, literally blew my mind. It was a bit soft, but I blame that on being in a take out container with hot food. All in fall, this place was fine.... Not being from Denver, not sure how this place compares, but I've easily had better elsewhere.

Tom D.

Yelp
Truly authentic, fast, tasty meat. It is a hole-in-thewall but that's the point. It's about the food.

Ashley T.

Yelp
This place is so good! Authentic cooking and the owners are so nice! I got the three delicacy combo with rice and the braised pork with steamed rice. The three delicacy combo was cooked perfectly! The braised pork was a little but still very delicious. Very reasonable price and I will definitely return again!

Steve T.

Yelp
For being in denver there's not many legit Asian (chinese) food places here. For the staples this place is great. Heck some things are better than what I'm used to back home in our local Chinatown! If they have hanging duck, roast pork, and red char siu pork it's good. While they are not a full restaurant they do have the basics. Chow fun flat noodles to friend rice. They even have Jung! Chinese style mochi (sticky) rice. The roast pork is awesome super light and crispy skin like chips! Well the cut we got was great. Tripe was good too, for being something simple and spiced can't go wrong. If you eat Mexican menudo you'll enjoy this as well.

Stacey C.

Yelp
Solid Chinese bbq spot. IYKYK. Their roast pork is very crispy and delicious. Spare ribs are also a staple fave. I don't know how they prepare their garlic broccoli but wow, pure magic.

David Y.

Yelp
I enjoyed Huakee and I thought that this BBQ was well done for the most part. I thought that this is a great introduction for those who have not had Chinese BBQ much- Huakee was affordable, fast casual, and very tasty. I'd recommend BBQ pork and roast pork for those who are just trying Chinese BBQ for the first time. Roast duck is also quite delicious but I didn't try it this time. I got the 3 delicacy over rice (basically any 3 meats). I got 2 roast pork + BBQ pork (charsiu). The roast pork was delicious and I loved the crispy skin. This also had a good fat/meat ratio. The BBQ pork (charsiu) was also awesome but I wish it had a little more fat. Still really great flavors and char on it. I thought the 3 delicacy combo was a steal at $13- plenty of food for 2 people to be honest. I also liked the fact that they added sauce over the rice. We also got some beef chowfun and this was freshly made and came out hot and smoky. This was really well done. Overall, I had a great experience at Huakee. I could see how this place would maybe not be as good if you ate it later in the day- I would guess that the meat would get a bit dried out. That said, I really enjoyed my late lunch and would definitely go back.

Troy R.

Yelp
In the last four weeks I've visited Huakee BBQ 4 times. Every week on the way from the airport to my jobsite a quick stop to pickup some roasted pork belly is a must. The crunchy pork skin mixed with the juicy pork belly is so good.

Marsha M.

Yelp
I came here for my Thanksgiving bird - duck this year - and wound up getting many other additions. In fact, my entire Thanksgiving meal was exclusively from Huakee BBQ and I am grateful! We ordered: an entire roast duck, which was well flavored and delicious. Char siu (roast pork) which was so deliciously flavored and pleasingly sweet. Spicy pig ear (a cold side dish) - totally delicious with a texture I adore. Braised pork from the steam table offerings - fatty, tasty, complex flavor. A banana leaf wrapped sticky rice treat - filled with pork, shrimp, scallop, etc. & Shrimp low mein, which had giant plump shrimp. What I was especially grateful for was that nothing from Huakee was too salty. In previous roast duck endeavors my tongue has gotten salt burns from over seasoning, but at Huakee it is perfectly balanced, letting the flavors sing. Atmosphere is not the main appeal here, and in fact, during covid I don't think dine in is even an option. The staff are friendly, attentive, and happy to get you whatever you need. It seems like this may be a generational family operation, which makes it that much more appealing to give them my business.

Stephanie H.

Yelp
Average Cantonese BBQ place Food: 3 Value: 3 Service: 4 Atmosphere:3 We came here towards the end of the day so the cuts/selection was probably not as good as normal and there was no duck available. We ordered a half pound of roast pork and a half pound of the char siu (both were around $10/pound). One of my big issues was that all the food was ice cold. Normally with the heat lamps at Cantonese bbq places the food is lukewarm or warm but never cold. The roast pork was flavored really well with spices and had a crispy skin, but the cut we got happened to be 90% fat with very little meat so that was very disappointing. The char siu overall tasted good and was seasoned well although slightly dry. I typically like my char siu more fatty - this one was very lean. Overall, being Cantonese and having gone to many Cantonese bbq places this place just average. However, I would try it again towards the beginning of the day to see if the quality is better.

Andrea S.

Yelp
Husakee BBQ was my first time trying Cantonese, let alone Cantonese BBQ. We aren't usually in this area so we were trying to find something fun to try. Our first stop ended up not working out and I'm so happy it didn't so we could check out this delicious spot. The staff was super nice and patient as we were trying to decide what to try. And though the restaurant itself was nothing to write home about, it definitely felt clean! I ordered their 2 meat combo (pork and ribs) with rice and a small portion of bok choy and broccoli. Both meats were delicious but the pork really stood out with having a super crispy outside with a super juicy inside. The rice and veggies weren't anything special but still good. I'm looking forward to my leftovers for tomorrow!

Jedidiah M.

Yelp
I had the #19 chicken, duck, & pork with rice/vegetables. The food was simpler yet delicious. Everything cooked well. Portions are ok. Nice to go packaging. Clean shop. Very excited to come back!

Michelle N.

Yelp
The 3 meat combo was just the perfect amount for 2! The duck and bbq pork were good. Will ask for more sauce in the side next time.

Athena W.

Yelp
Huakee makes my Asian heart so happy! Finally a good HK style bbq style up north. HK BBQ has been my go to but the haul out to aurora has stopped me from being a regular. HUAKEE is a little mom and pop shop in the same shopping center as H MART. The food is legit. We grabbed the roast pork and roast duck rice. Roast pork was the bomb. Perfectly flavorful and not overly salty. Also it wasn't super fatty like other places I've tried. I love roast duck and thought it was just ok. It felt a little skimpy and skinny BUT they do have duck noodle soup so I'll be back to give it another try. Do yourself a favor and stop by this joint! Pro tip: if you get roast pork to go ask them not to shut the lid. If the lid is shut the crispy pork skin will get soggy.

Matt I.

Yelp
This place makes my family happy!! We were doing a grocery run at the H Mart next-door and decided to try this place. It was crowded with other Asians, which seemed like a great sign. There are a couple of tables to dine in but it is mostly a takeout place. We had Shrimp Singapore noodles, char sui pork, beef chow fun, shrimp chow fun and shrimp fried rice. We will try the duck next time. We loved everything that we ordered, it was all delicious and we will be back.

Sothary C.

Yelp
What a great bbq place right next to the Asain market. The place was really clean and friendly. Most importantly, the bbq chicken and riblets were full of bbq flavor. We will definitely be back for some real authentic Chinese bbq!

Sandra M.

Yelp
This place hits the spot if you are looking for classic Cantonese roast duck etc. The duck was perfectly moist and tender with a crispy skin and of course the sauce. Highly recommend! And the people who work there are super nice.

Alexa S.

Yelp
With the lack of descent Chinese, this is a good pick for a more traditional Cantonese bbq route. Duck seems to be their main thing they make, but I am glad I picked the two meat. I really liked the Chinese bbq pork which was nice and tender. The duck was good and flavorful. The Chinese five spice is the main spice. Glad they put some bok choy on the plate for some vegetable. We also got the duck wings. They reminded me of the chicken feet at dim sum more than traditional American chicken wings. Spiced with Chinese five spice but mostly squishy skin verses actual meat.

Sporeguy ..

Yelp
Cute shop! Hours on Google are inaccurate -- see what's posted on the shop itself, they tend to go later. They do their meat very well and the front lady is real sweet. Highly recommend.

Hodding H.

Yelp
Stopped in and got #20 and #21 with bbq pork and chicken. Affordable, quick, tasty, and a bunch of food! Don't live near by but I'll make the trip again sometime or stop by when I'm in the area.

Tabby L.

Yelp
Best Chinese BBQ around. Taste like what I remembered from Hong Kong where I grew up. Love the roast duck, BBQ pork, roast pork. I am so happy to find this place. Great food, reasonable prices and nice family run business.

J G.

Yelp
Came in today around 2:30, place was packed and after trying the food I can see why. Ordered the steamed chicken, bbq pork, combo chow fun, combo fried rice, and chicken feet. Everything was super tasty and the lady working the counter was very sweet. I look forward to going back ASAP!

Steve M.

Yelp
The house fried rice was delicious. The duck and ribs were a bit on the fatty side for my taste. During the 30 minutes that I was there, at least a dozen people came in, and I think, at least half of them were speaking Chinese with the owner, who was taking orders. I would go back for the fried rice and probably try some of the other dishes - a number of people seemed to be enjoying the noodles.

Glenda J.

Yelp
A hidden gem where all food is consistently good! This unassuming small family run take out establishment is a bustling business and will run out if you don't get there early! Small display case with roast items:BBQ pork, Roast pork, roast duck, chicken. Other ready to go entrees on the right. They'll cut the items from the display case into portions on request. This is my go to place in northern Colorado for authentic Cantonese cuisine.

Lewis B.

Yelp
Authentic Chinese food. They got some of that good stuff you don't find in a Chinese buffet. They have pig ear, duck feet, tripe, tendon, spicy lotus root, and spicy tofu. All good stuff that's hard to find out in this town. Duck noodle soup is good for those who are unsure they want to eat organs or extremities. One of the menu entries is Pig Guts. I grew up eating that as a kid but I never had anyone call it pig guts. It sounds pretty gross when you call it that. Btw If you're Caucasian I highly recommend the Pig Guts. It tastes just like chicken...(guts).

Deya Z.

Yelp
Wow wow wow. Can these three words just be my review? Because they were all I could say! The roasted duck soup was the bomb, the ribs...to die for! The BBQ pork plate with rice?! Amazing! I can't believe this place is in Westminster but I'm so happy it is!

Michelle C.

Yelp
If you want bomb noodles, this is your spot. I'm big on Asian food (particularly noodles) and I haven't found anything spectacular since moving to CO from the Pacific Northwest. The beef chow fun was one of my favorite noodles I've ever had. They are simple, and the beef/noodles/bean sprouts are cooked to perfection. The chef whipped it up so freshly and brought it right to our table too :)

Kathryn O.

Yelp
This place has the meat hanging in a display case and they chop it up for your food right in front of you--that's how fresh it is. It's delicious! It's take out only, and be prepared to eat it right away so that you can enjoy it right when it's at its best. The roasted duck udon and Singapore street noodles are incredible. The portions are huge for the money. The restaurant is very clean and the staff is friendly.

Yuli C.

Yelp
Ordered the 3 meat combo with roast duck, soy sauce chicken and roast pork over rice and a little side of broccoli and baby bok choy. We also got an order of combination chow fun which came with shrimp (4 pieces), beef, and bbq pork. And finally, we got a zongzi (sticky rice in banana leaf and stuffed with meat, peanuts, and salted egg yolk) to try. This was plenty of food for 2 hungry adults for dinner. The roast pork was the best out of the meat choices, it had crispy skin, and a good balance of fat and lean meat. The duck and chicken were savory, but I've had better roast duck elsewhere. The roast meat were displayed behind glass and cut to portion upon ordering. The chow fun (stir fry noodles) was made to order and came with wide rice noodles, shrimp, bbq pork, beef, and some onions, bean sprouts and green onions. It was filling and tasted pretty good although nothing special. The zongzi was huge! And the tasty was pretty good as well. Overall, the food was authentic but there is room for improvement flavor-wise. Price is decent as well, although I am not sure how my order came to $33.10 (menu says $11 for 3 meat combo, $10.95 for combination chow fun, and $4.50 for the zongzi, so the tax must have been more than $6.50?), the math doesn't quite add up... I wasn't given a receipt so I cannot check on the details of these charges unfortunately. It looked like a small operation with just a lady and her husband so I am happy to support small businesses.

Lynette L.

Yelp
Amazing food and great people!!! We go to this spot regularly for some delicious, quick and easy food. We especially love the BBQ pork (char siu), roast pork and roast duck. This place is super quick (great for takeout-tajes like 5 mins) and very budget friendly for excellent food. Also, I recently accidentally left my wallet there after paying. They waited 1 day for me to come and pick it up (but I didn't realize it was missing) so they hand delivered it to my address. Highly recommend!

Marianne M.

Yelp
Simple HK bbq style food. Homemade tasting comfort food! Run by small business and always welcoming when we visit. They also have stewed dishes (chicken feet, pork intensities, pig ears) not for the faint hearted but delicious if u r feeling adventurous !

Gerardo C.

Yelp
Everything is delicious, bbq pork is outstanding. Get the delicacy plate even the steamed rice is good.

Alex C.

Yelp
Classic family run Chinese joint. What it lacks in appearance (who cares?) it makes up for in tasty food, friendly service, and good prices. I get the bbq pork and half pound tendon...mmmmm.

Steven W.

Yelp
If you want some tasty chinese BBQ this is a great place to go! I had the BBQ duck plate for take out and it was so good. The duck was cooked just right with crispy skin and the meat was tender. The family had a variety of dishes, sesame pork and a vegetable dish and all were very happy. The price is also right and compares to other chinese places. Chinese food done well and a great price point. Can't go wrong!

Ian A.

Yelp
Best Chinese BBQ in Colorado. Do yourself a favor and try the char siu pork and pork belly. Both are done to perfection. I have never had pork belly where the skin was so crisp. My wife and I both were amazed at how well this little shop can do it right. Support them so they stay around for a long time.

Nancy G.

Yelp
Staying at a hotel near by. Got there just before they close. Ordered beef chow fun, it smells great but tasted...so so. Noodles are wide but thin, which is different than the usual thick noodle. Ordered #16 & #17 dishes but wasn't impressed. They were dried. Spicy beef tenden was the only dish that was awesome. Extra star because the nice lady stayed open for us.
